  1. Fateh Ji all, I teach in a Sikh school in the UK, just wondering if anyone has any videos I can download to show the kids what Diwali means for Sikhs. This is important because Id like them to know it means something for us, not just lighting lamps, candles etc. A short presentation on Bandi Chor Diwas etc would be perfect, really would appreciate any help from my brothers or sisters here. There's about 500 kids, so it could be kinda..hectic, lol. Thanks Fateh Ji Ps. I'd do something myself but I'm hopeless with computers  @
  2. Thanks Veer SamosaSingh (man you're name makes me hungry  ), that's exactly it, I just couldnt say it properly, but you put it really well, many thanks Veer!
  3. Ok, so what is the pole and colour representing exactly? Id really like to know. Interestingly enough, Proff Darshan Singh has done Katha on the shabad, 'raam rang kadhey uttar na jaye, gur poora jis deh bhujaye' in which he has very clearly, using a gurmat perspective destroyed the arguments of people who think specific colours are significant, superior or relevant to the Khalsa only.
  4. I know Baba Mann Singh has donated money to the Gurughar completion. I don't see the point of it really, the money could have been used in other useful places, for example to aid the school in the area for Sikhs, Guru Nanak Sikh School which is expanding due to demand for more places (1500 waiting list), and which by Guru Nanak's Kirpa has achieved 97% success in GCSE results. I know the school appealed to local Gurughar for help financially and so far no one has done anything, quite sad really.
  5. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! With all due respect, I think the main reason for the Nishan Sahib is the symbol on it, which is the Khanda. Whether it is present on a flag with a long pole, or on it's own, it represents the same thing. If you go to the main Nanaksar Gurughar in Jagroan, you will see the Khanda on top of the gate, therefore I don't think Nanaksar is trying to be segregated or against the SGPC in anything. Just my two cents. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  6. Ok Jio, but I dont trust them, and neither should you, we all know why too.
  7. Veer Ji, forgive me if I was too harsh, I just feel very upset when people do this. Anyway, we do not know for sure if this was approved, and based on the teachings of Babaji, it doesn't fit, in the same way you refuse to believe Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji was the way he is portrayed in that account. Let's just disregard this, it's useless to us. I understand your sentiments, but please, try to understand what I was trying to say. Chardi Kala. GurFateh
  8. Sigh, pressure from admirers? Probably because they had more sense than people who jump to conclusions and didn't want to create 'controversy'.
  9. Singh47, when you try to compare to Mahapurush, and reference your sources in the form of a book written by a human being, and not bother to find out its authenticity, then it is creating a controversy. Neo and myself, and Im sure Kaur Ji too are offended and concerned because we respect all Mahapurush and to play them off each other through other people isn't Gurmat. Kaur Ji, thanks, I havent got the books on me now, but as you have looked it up, it's clear who has the agenda now. I reiterate my request to the Admin. This sort of Jatha dividing should not be allowed. Whatever is in the book is an account of an individual, as yet Singh47 has not replied where and when these books were approved (BY BABA ISHER SINGH JI). So, are we debating using Gurbani? or opinions of people?
  10. Fateh Jio Singh47, I've also noticed that after some weeks you post up stuff about Nanaksar in order to create controversy. The stuff written by GurMukh Singh is grossly exaggerated and what he says has no bearing on the greatness of Baba Nand Singh Ji. Also, to compare two Mahapurush like we know what we are talking about is not right, who are we to compare the Kamai of others when we ourselves aren't even close? Let's not discuss this and place obstacles in our search for Naam. It hinders us, and not anyone else. FYI, once a Sikh came to Baba Nand Singh Ji, and sat behind writing down everything Babaji said in their Bachan. Babaji turned around and smiled, saying 'Bhai, what are you writing?'. He said 'Ithihaas Babaji, history'. Babaji smiled and said, 'Why?' . The Sikh replied, 'For the coming generations history will be useful, they can learn of your Bachan'. Babaji laughed openly at this and said, 'Acha? History, you may write that Bhagat Fareed did Tapasya for 12 years, but how will you write about in what kind of bliss (Dard-painful ecstasy of longing) he remained hung upside down in a well?', 'How will you write about our experiences whilst doing Bhagti without food or water for so many years upon years, the whole of the GURBANI is the HISTORY (Ithihaas) of MAHAPURUSH'. Now, how will you determine their Avastha? How will you comment on who is higher, who is fake, who has more Naam? Let's please not get into another one of these debates about Sants, can we not look at the source, the Bani? We are well aware that GurMukh Singh and some other people, although wrongly, distorted things because of thei r own extreme Sharda, Im not condoning it, but let's put it aside and concentrate on the Hukam, which is the same when repeated by all these Mahapurush and Guru's. The Guru's weren't the only contributers to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but we don't pick faults in the other Bhagats who wrote Bani. We follow the guidelines given to us in the form of Gurbani. It's very sad that people waste such time on these useless topics. Naam Kamayee is what we should work on, I mean, how much time do we have anyway? Life is too short. 'Gobind milan kee eh teri bariya', 'bahut janam bichre they madho, eh janam tumarey lekhey'. Give this life to the Guru, and time doesn't stop for anyone. I request the Admin to lock or delete this topic before it becomes a slanging match between two Jatha's, it's a humble Benti, for the sake of people wanting to see unity, please.
  11. Seriously though, think in this case she should have an abortion?
