  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Well the only way forward is for Young Gursikhs to become involved in Gurdwaras. Gursikhs have to take this seva on! There's no stepping back. The committee does seva of the sangat and if they forget they must be reminded! The committee are not "the Untouchables"! The minute these people receive any kind of confrontation (and I mean Gurmat ethics) they will have to back down.
  2. Singhji, Beadbi of Guruji is hard to bear and it’s extremely upsetting for a GurSikh to have to blatantly see it. Being a youth, we can feel that we are in a weak position to have any impact. At the end of the day we stand against extremist Islamic groups who attack Guruji when in our own community there is the same paap going on, even worse. Singh, just be blatant and honest and say how you as a GurSikh feel to the people. Challenge them on what they think they are doing. If you can get GurSikhs together and visit these people, it will add even more weight and impact. You’re not being a group of thugs or anything, you are going as the concerned Sangat and you can diplomatically discuss the issues of beadbi. Name & shame!! It’s not unethical, it can impact. You can put posters up in your local Gurdwaras, ok they may eventually get taken down, but Sangat may look and reflect on their own actions. We are in a bad situation today because of the older generation turning a blind eye to all the beadbi. Many of us have grown up seeing beadbi around us taking place unquestioned. The Punjabi community in the West moan about how we loose youth to other faiths, well what do they expect when they act as the biggest hypocrites and do all these anti-Gurmat acts. How do they expect the youth to look up to them as Sikh role models?? We need to start somewhere, make examples of people, raise awareness to our own people that beadbi cannot and should not be tolerated. It’s the only way. We are all Guruji’s ambassadors and have a duty to perform. It’s a long road ahead of us and we can’t change the bad practices overnight. But we can start the ball r olling and be collectively responsible for implementing reforms.

  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Gurpedro bhaji Your right its really a test of faith! The Guru is always with them who stick to their principles. All the best
  5. Gurpedro ji, It's definetly not right on the committee's part to ban the Granthi, especially for the some of the things like not booking programmes. Granthis are ministers to the GURU and should be treated with the highest respect. Problem is that nowadays the committees see them as mere employees and feel that they can discpline them. Also the Granthis have let themselves get into this postition by not standing upto poorly run committees. As it's a local issue we don't know the intricacies of what is involved. Doesn't seem quite right though. Bookings programs is almost always a committee responsibility. They need to come to an understanding. Confront the committee as Sangat. If you feel the Gyani is being mistreated the you should gather the sangat and speak to the committee. Define roles. There must be someone in the committee present in the evenings in charge of booking and tell the Granthi.
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Wow, SangatJi. Now there's 3 definite Amrit Sanchars (that I know of) taking place in the next few months. We should start a thread which posts the various location where Amrit Sanchars are taking place in the next few months. As an OLDER ( believe I am old) brother, I will try to be there to see the new Fauj come into the Khalsa fold. Look forward to meeting all the new Amritdharis.... Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  7. The Sikh Times out today have a whole spread on the protest. Some good pictures...
  8. Cali Guys, give us the go-ahead. We're ready whenever you want us....
  9. Is this confirmed by Satpreet?? Can any other Sikhs also confirm Satpreetji's allegations?? (not that we are questioning your integrity) If this is the Gurdwara, we need to start the campaign. Some suggestions below, what does the sangat think? 1) Start by bombarding them with phone calls, letters etc? This way the Global sangat can get involved too 2) A Jatha of local Singhs/Singhnees arrange a meeting with the committee? Firstly, observe and discuss the allegation of anti-gurmat practices taking place in the Gurdwara Sahib. Get an outcome from the committee. Ensure they make efforts to change the bad practices or present themselves to the Akal Takht. 3) Release a press release/advertisment in your local punjabi/sikh newspapers magazines outlining what goes on at this Gurdwara. Name & shame, it's the best way. 4) Film what goes on so that you have proof. Any other ideas??
  10. Tarunjeet singh ji, Are the Coventry Jatha aware that the Ramgharia Community Hall, just a few doors down from the Ramgharia Gurdwara Sahib on Foleshill Road allow alcohol & meat to be served. The tables and chairs are even stored in the Gurdwara Sahib complex itself. The kitchen utensils are sometimes shared between the Hall and the Gurdwara Sahib and can also be hired out for use for parties etc.
  11. Forget the Nirankaris & Namdharis for the moment. There is a BIG need to focus on the beadbi that takes place in todays Sikh Gurdwara's. The following could be starting points: 1) Gurdwara committees that allow Guruji's Saroop to be taken into bars, banqueting halls or anywhere alcohol and meat are served. 2) Gurdwara's which allow meat and alcohol to be served 3) Gurdwara committees who open halls affiliated to the Gurdwara where alcohol & meat are allowed to be served If you know of anyone who is doing the above beadbi of our Guruji then you MUST post the details on the forum or even PM me. We need to start tackling this as a SERIOUS PROBLEM . The generation above us have just made mess of things and allowed this to happen for too long, it's up to our generation to put a stop to this!!!!!!! It's up to us to make a difference.
  12. 25th of July saw the Sikh Youth of UK taking a stance against the extremist group Al-Muhajiroun. Despite fears of violence these youth stood in the mist of Trafalgar Square and proclaimed to all that “We are Sikh, British & Proud!”. The sea of blue dastaars made the Sikhs presence stand out in the Square. The onlookers knew the Sikhs came for a peaceful demonstration and were openly discussing with them how to rid society of groups that tarnish communities and spread hatred against the principles of humanity. The public were amazed by the principles the Sikh Gurus stood for and were bowled over with the love for humanity Sikhi preaches. The literature being handed out was in line with Sikhi principles; there was no way these Sikh Youths were going to deviate from their Guru’s path and drop to Al-Muhajiroun’s level of filth. The Police were very relaxed and allowed the Sikhs great freedom to mingle with reporters from the press & television. They knew the Sikhs were not going to be the starters of any trouble and the Sikh youth worked closely with the Police to maintain peace in the Square. There was no Press Office, individual Sikhs put forward their views, these views reflected Sikhi and nobody said any derogatory comments about Islam. The youth understood this was an individual ‘Extremist Group’ that needed to be tackled for the betterment of all communities in the UK. There were no limelight seekers and the youth left their egos at home. Everyone was focused on promoting the values of Sikhi to each other and the world who was watching. Those present, whether Amritdhari, Keshdhari or Sehajdhari, wanted to make the stance that nindia o f their Guru and targeting of their religion will not be stood for forthwith! Each and every youth inspired each other and the concept of ‘Khalsa Brother/Sisterhood’ was practiced. With the gathering of the BNP and NF getting larger the defiant Sikh Youth, focused their minds on the feet of their 10th Guru and did the loudest ‘Benti Chaupai Sahib da path’ London and probably the UK has ever heard. The youth were sitting down on the pavement of the Square and the Fascists, Police and tourists watched and listened in awe. The flashes from the cameras of the press, tourists and general public made the cloudy Sunday afternoon feel like a bright summer’s day. On completion of the ‘Benti Chaupai Sahib da path’ the Sikhs stood for ‘Ardaas’, there was pin drop silence and 5 jaikaray where sounded that made the BNP and NFs shouting sound like idle gossip! Now here comes the most important point. The prayers were led by the Youth and so was the Ardaas. It was a sight to see and I will for the rest of my life thank the Guru for allowing my ears to listen to it and my tongue to partake in it. The strong relationship with the police was maintained and they escorted the Khalsa towards Embankment Station for dispersion. This procession was lead with banners which proclaimed “Sikhs against Al Muhajoroun” and “If you don’t see God in all, you don’t see God at all” The Embankment stood still as this procession passed by. The Sikhs from various parts of UK dispersed with the feeling that they have been part of a landmark event for British Sikhs. This was a day where those who attended will tell their future generations. Taking a step back, this whole episode was devised by the Great Guru himself to show our community and other communities the strength of the Young Khalsa. The Sikh Youth will not tolerate rallies with the sole aim of publicly humiliating their religion. Nor will the Sikh Youth stand for blatant targeting and undermining of their faith by these extremists. < br> The aim of the Sikh Youth was to make their voice heard, with or without the help of some of their leaders. The right to protest and complain was exercised by Sikhs in there hundreds directed towards Mayor, Metropolitan Police Authority, Commission of Racial Equality and local MPs Petitions were devised by Sevadars and emailed out to all. A few Sikh Organisations voiced the Youth’s concerned to the authorities and advised that without giving satisfactory replies Sikhs from across the UK would exercise the right to protest in the Square. The united feeling amongst the Youth drove them to organise and plan the landmark event of 25th July 2004. Sikh Youth meetings were called in short time periods and plans were devised. The use of contacts and discussion forums kept each other spirits focused on the task at hand. Sewadars from East London discussed Police arrangements and devised banners, Sewadars from North London drafted and printed literature. Sewadars from Midlands organised coaches and filmed the event. None had any other thought in mind except that together they can stop this event. The counter rally by the BNP did not dampen the spirit of the Sikhs, the ball was set in motion and nothing could stop it now. The Guru united the Youth with such strength that the outcome was that Al-Muhajiroun retreated with such shame that the have now released a press statement saying they feared for their safety from Extremist Sikhs – “pot calling the kettle black”. This group which tell people to become suicide bombers are now interested in “Health & Safety”! The coming together of events shows that the Guru just wants the Khalsa to take one step towards doing the right thing and the Guru will complete the task to such perfection that the spirits of all involved will never falter again to face issues like this head on. The youth will take Sikhi in the direction prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and the Khalsa Panth will flourish. If there are any doubts a bout the Sikh Youth’s action on Sunday, did you know that in 2003 Al-Muhajiroun were fined only £200 for the same illegal rally in 2002 and further £750 court expenses to be paid. The Sikh Youth of UK have only one message to give - those of you who are, have or are thinking of dishonouring our Sri Guru Granth Khalsa, you will have to answer for your actions. Watch this space…..
  13. Khalsaji, The only organisation that can help is the Khalsa Panth! You can contact all the other bodies and believe me the response will be poor and disheartening. At the end of the day, you have to do what a GurSikh is supposed to do. What we expereinced in London on Sunday made us aware that the Guru just wants the Khalsa to take one step towards doing the right thing and the Guru will complete the task to such perfection that the spirits of all involved will never falter again to face issues like this head on. You must be pro-active and attempt to sort the problem. If there's confrontation, than so be it!!!!
  14. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sorry Mehtab Singh I confused you for Satpreet!! Satpreet, this issue has to be addressed.
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! You can't put a posting up like this and not inform the sangat where this Gurdwara is. At the end of the day want's the difference between the major beadbi taking place here and an extremist group like Al-Muhajouroun slandering Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The solution is the Sangat turn up in masses and confront the committee and the people doing this beadbi. Your duty as a Sikh is to tell us where!!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  16. Veerji, Apologies for being patronising, but there were loads of photographers there (press and tourists). We were even filmed by Scotland Yard and will now be in their archives. Alu Mushrooms probably already have pictures of the Sikh protesters. THere are even pictures of us on the NF website. Based on that. I think you maybe over reacting a bit. I mean some of the East London Sikh sangat live on the same streets as the Alu Mushroom supporters. I certainly do..... So at this stage, what does it matter if we show the photos. If anything it will futher boost our morale.
  17. LOL, we probably got more coverage on the NF website than the media. Anyway, there's a couple of photos on there. They must have been sneaking around chatting to us earlier, we talked to so many people that day.....
  18. http://www.muslimnews.co.uk/news/news.ppa?article=7802 Got some coverage, notice how we are termed 'extremist' by Al-Muhajiroun. Also where were the Hindus. --------------------------------------------------------------------------. Al-Muhajiroun moves rally 25-07-2004 By Vik Iyer PA News: A Muslim group accused of spreading extremist views cancelled plans to hold an unofficial rally in London today. Between 600 and 700 Al-Muhajiroun members were expected at the midday rally in Trafalgar Square, with the Mayor of London Ken Livingstone threatening to take legal action if the rally went ahead. But organisers confirmed this morning that they had decided to move the rally to an undisclosed venue in Essex because of safety fears. The extreme right-wing British National Party, which is openly against the Islamic faith, had been expected to send activists to Trafalgar Square. Anjem Choudary, the UK head of Al-Muhajiroun, said: "We could not guarantee the safety and security of the attendees. "There were a number of people coming from all over the country ... it would be very difficult for us to control." Mr Choudary claimed there were a number of organisations due to attend, including extremist Sikh and Hindu groups. He added: "The police were planning a meticulous operation today. I am not aware how they were going to deal with the security. "There has been lot of negative publicity and propaganda. I don't think we were being treated fairly." Mr Choudary went on: "We cou ld not guarantee the safety of people who were not aware of the rally in Trafalgar Square." He said the group took seriously the threat posed by terror group al Qaida. Mr Choudary said: "It could be anywhere in Europe but the most likely target is Britain. "Ultimately, it was the sheikh's decision but he consulted leaders of the Muslim community." Yesterday, Al-Muhajiroun's spiritual leader Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad accused London's authorities of being biased against his group. He said Trafalgar Square by-laws were being deliberately used against the group.
  19. All in all, I'd say there were 300 Sikhs when we did Chaupai Sahib. As usual we got minimal coverage in the newspaper. But who cares. We stood together as one jatha!!!
  20. Below is a response (in bold) received from Mayor's office today regarding last years rally. Note the action the Mayor will take if the byelaws are again breached. As per the 'Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (Birmingham) UK' disheartening official press statement sent to the Sikh community and various official organisation (including the Prime Minister) on Friday requesting: Sikhs to refrain from attending this unauthorised Rally and thereby starve it of it's 'oxygen' "The Lord Mayor's Office has declared that the proposed Rally is not authorised and that the Police will take appropriate action in the event the Rally is held. We should let the Law take its course" So have a look for yourself at what action was taken last year.... & judge for yourself what action the Mayor would have taken this year if the rally went ahead..... Mayors response below. Thank you for your further correspondence regarding a proposed rally in Trafalgar Square on 25 July 2004, I have been asked to reply. You enquired about the history of the previous prosecution of the Al Muhajiroun. A court case took place on 17 April 2003. It related to activities on 25th August 2002. The Al Muhajiroun organisers were fined £200 which is the maximum allowed and ordered to pay £750 towards the prosecution court costs. The Mayor will take a similar approach if the byelaws are again breached. As stated before the Al Muhajiroun do not have permission to hold a rally on Trafalgar Square and they have not applied for permission. The GLA is in constant liaison with the Metropolitan Police regarding the event.
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It truely was an amazing day. Well done to all the Chardi Kala Naujawan that did turnout!!!!! Well Done to the Naujawan Jathas from East London North London Smethwick and above all Coventry for boosting the atmosphere. Well Done to the Naujawan monay who wore dastaars. Well Done to all the Naujawan GurSikhs who acted as superb ambasdors to Guru Ji. Well Done to the Naujawan that led the Chaupai Sahib Path. Good work Naujawanow! You did the Sikhs proud!!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  22. Here a more detailed reply from the Metropolitan Police Authority: The Public Order Act 1986 gives police power to ban all or a class of processions in a local area for up to three months, by way of a banning order. If a Chief Constable (or the Commissioner in the case of London) is satisfied that the powers to impose conditions will not be sufficient to prevent serious public disorder if the procession takes place, then he or she can apply for a banning order from the Home Office. Such a decision would not be taken likely in relation to any proposed demonstration. The unpopularity of a particular view is in itself not grounds to prevent any demonstration. However, as you are aware there is legislation surrounding what can be said and written, hence the reference in my email to examination by the MPS and Crown Prosecution Service of emails and websites for possible breaches of law. The use of Trafalgar Square, which is subject to GLA bye laws, for a rally or demonstration is another issue all together. I do not how the police plan to police this event, other than the information I have provided below. However, I am sure their plan will evolve based upon the intelligence they have. At the same time I am sure they will try to work with all interested parties to ensure the peace is kept. Reading into it, basically as far as they are concerned as its not an official rally so they wont be asking for the banning order. GurFateh
  23. Please put this poster up in your local Gurdwaras & distribute to Sangat http://free.hostdepartment.com/a/all_info/Poster.htm
  24. Even so there's no reason for us to post an NF poster on our forum. We are all fully are of what the NF stand for and we all by know what we will have to deal with when we protest on Sunday.
