  1. So you have come on a Sikh forum to tell people to go visit an astrologer to sort out their life affairs... Oh yes, I see it now, I will go visit a guy to sort out my life issues, even though the same guy deals with the very same issues himself and can not resolve them
  2. Gotta love responses by unmarried folks on nature of things after marriage  That's like saying 'look, I have never played football but I will be giving you pointers on how to play football' lol PS. I'm not married, so I have no opinion on such matters PPS. Please stay on topic, or this thread will likely be closed
  3. Mahapurakhs like Baba Kartar Singh Jee had been noted saying that reading bani and doing naam simran are one and the same
  4. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a 'cyber hukumnama'. There are protocols in place that one must follow to get hukumnama from Guru Sahib. Again, just my opinion.
  5. Concept of love in Sikhi is very much different than what current societies of the world portray as love. Quote for self reflection. http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=1753
  6. We are all born alone, and we all die alone. Guru Sahib takes this even further! http://sikhitothemax...p?ShabadID=2778 As far as ego is concerned, it's almost impossible to find someone who does not have ego, regardless of if how spiritual they are. Of course, a pooran sant has conquered their ego, but as gurbani reminds us time and again they are one in a million.

    Vikaar

A bit off topic, but I think the problem is that the Sikh community has focused very strongly on telling people how important it is chakk amrit but not nearly enough emphasis has been given to make people aware of the jeevan and character that has to be built for such a feat. Hence you get very many amritdhari's who are not (dare i say this) 'fit' to be one. I certainly fit in this category.

Nice response, a strong reminder from Dhan Bhagat Kabeer Jee: kbIr grbu n kIjIAY rMku n hsIAY koie ] kabeer garab n keejeeai ra(n)k n haseeai koe || Kabeer, do not be so proud, and do not laugh at the poor [of any form, of character, of money, of able body etc...]. 9. While it may be true that all paths lead to God, the fact remains they are different paths. Think about it this way, if 2 people are going to the same destination but they using different paths, they are not really going together. How can then they consult each other, help each other and look out for each other? There are many many things a couple needs to work on, compromise on, forgive/forget on with in a marriage. Introducing another big problem into the mix is not going to help anyone involved. I always say this, if your faith is important to you, then you will want to get a life partner with similar values. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.
  10. Can you please explain the part in bold? Dhanwaad.
  11. Dhanwaad! :D People who do kundalini yoga talk about a kriya called 'so darshan kriya'. They say that it is prescribed in Gurbani and they point out the above shabad to support their claim. I did do this kriya and felt a huge difference in my psyche only in a couple of weeks, but I stopped doing it as I wasn't sure yoga was the way to go. What are your thoughts on this? As it has been already noted, there are many different ways of doing Simran with vidhi. We had a baba ji visit our Gurudwara a few months who did sangat of a Sant (their name escapes me now). They also mentioned that there are many ways to do simran and taught sangat to do simran in this way. - sit with back straight - start with deep breaths and focus on the breath - then start doing simran very very slowly, say each syllable; so waaaa hey goo rooooo; keep focus on your tounge while this is done - after a few minutes, after the mind has calmed a little, increase the speed - now you want to make a progressive path, focus on the tip of your nose and say waheguru once; then move focus to middle of the nose and say waheguru; then move focus to just above the trikuti (point right between your eyebrows) and say waheguru; repeat the same going back down from trikuti and to tip of nose; repeat the cycle. So you are saying waheguru 3 times going up and 3 times going down - once you are comfortable with that, what you want to do is 3 steps go up, hold the focus on trikuti and say waheguru 3 times there; then go down and repeat - moving on, the end aim is to keep focus on trikuti as long as possible while saying waheguru - if the focus goes away at any time, start the cycle again, going from tip of nose to trikuti I hope I have explained it in an easy to follow manner. Just a thought, perhaps we should start a new thread and note down different ways of doing simran in that?
  12. Would you please be kind enough to start a new thread and tell us at least a little bit about various methods present in gurbani? Dhanwaad

    Yoga In Sikhi

Sorry jio, but I don't think you have done kudalini yoga, it can be very challenging and make you sweat a lot! I do agree that the end aim with kundalini yoga is to bring inner calmness and peace.

I was going to dissect every single you have written, instead I leave you with the following kUiV kmwxY kUVo hovY nwnk isPiq ivgwis ]3] koorr kamaanai koorro hovai naanak sifath vigaas ||3|| Practicing falsehood [corruption/evil minded deeds], only falsehood [corruption/evil] is obtained. O Nanak, through the Lord's Praise, one blossoms forth [and becomes happy, content]. ||3|| Dear sister, I'm not sure where you are getting your information from but that statement is very very wrong. The mind is never satisfied, gurbani tells us this again and again. Certain, sex is not required for good health because if that were the case all the non-married folks (who abstain from the activity) would always be sick! You can see in the world that this is not the case at all.Guru kirpa karey and you may rise above from the veil of attachment that is covering your eyes so that you can see this person for who they truly are. No one can tell you what is right, but I'm sure almost everyone will agree that the relation you currently have with this person is wrong as per Gurmat.
  15. Yes, both single arm bent over rows and dead lifts require additional weight. Btw, that exercise was just an example I gave, you can basically convert any exercise into a single arm/leg movement. Agreed. Going by mundasingh123 has said already, it's not clear exactly how his arm is weak. Can you please clarify exactly what the problem is? Currently, as we are not aware of the specific problem, suggestions have been generic. Is your left grip weak? What do you mean when you say your wrist is weak? How is it weak?
  16. I'm not sure how effective the power ball is going to be here. It will strengthen your tendons which is awesome but in my opinion it wont fix the muscle imbalance. Do you do any single arm exercises in your workout? For example, single arm dead lift, single arm bent over rows? If you don't, I would highly recommend that you make them a regular part of your workout. Dumbbells make it easier to do such exercises. Once you build an imbalance in your body, and most people do, doing unilateral movements only make the imbalance worse. Simply because, as you do a exercise, the stronger side takes over. So the key is to always incorporate single leg/arm exercises. Try doing a single leg body weight squat and you will see how tough it really is. Doing single leg/arm movements is the only way to catch the imbalance early and fix it accordingly. Mind you, it will take many months, likely years, to fix this imbalance. So don't get discouraged if you don't see progress in a matter of weeks. Good luck.
  17. I would also encourage you to visit a qualified chiropractor who can asses muscle imbalances in your body. Sometimes (not always), weakness in a certain part of the body is due to signals not firing correctly inside your nervous system. However, a proper examination is required before such a conclusion can be derived. Speaking of chiropractors, stay away from those who crack your bones 'into place'. NEVER let anyone crack your neck. Other, low impact methods, such as the Activator methods are now quite widely practiced by many, these are safe.
  18. Jeet, not everyone is addicted to facebook like you AHO! what he said....EMI
  19. Mehtab sio! I'm well offended man, you didn't even tell me about this <_<
  20. Marriage is of utmost importance. Your view is your view, but as per Bhai Gurdaas Jee your view is wrong; see the following vaar. There is no translation on STTM, so FYI the last tuk translates to 'the path of the householder is the highest path amongst all paths' For those that do not know, I should also add that Dhan Guru Arjan Dev Jee gave the writings of Bhai Gurdaas Jee the title of a 'key' which can open the secrets of Gurbani.
  21. Copy ALL your documents and files onto an external HD or burn them on DVD or something. Let's restore this laptop to its factory settings, which means it will remove all your documents in the process. Your Dell laptop must have come with a restore CD. Pop that baby in and restart the machine let it do its magic. It will restore your computer to how it was when you first got it from Dell. I have not used a Dell laptop in a while, but when you reboot after inserting the CD, it will likely say something to the effect of 'press any key to boot from CD'. Press the space bar and let the CD do it's thing.
  22. To me that sound like you have a virus and/or spyware on your machine and a nasty one at that. Run this for now: http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php PS. Linux will definitely decrease issues like these, but then good luck running programs that are only built for Windows. I guess dual boot is one option then. Hmm I might try and setup a dual boot Windows7 and ubuntu on my machine this weekend. Btw, if it wasn't for Windows, most of us would not have our current jobs. All hail Microsoft!
  23. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution here. If my memory serves me correctly, those masks need to be effectively sealed and having facial hair prevents it from sealing. I'm not really sure what you can do here.
