2. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh ! Haven't seen this, but if you around worth going to see.... http://www.hrw.org/iff/2006/london/films.html#amu Amu (U.K. premiere) Shonali Bose—India—2005—102m—35mm—drama In English, Bengali, Hindi and Punjabi with English subtitles AMU begins with the everyday dilemmas of a young Indian-American, Kaju, returning to the “foreignness” of her Indian homeland. Like an approaching thunderstorm, the film gathers a potent political charge as Kaju begins to question her past and realizes how her own privileged life in America was born out of communal violence in India. After Prime Minister Gandhi was assassinated by Sikh bodyguards in 1984, carnage erupted in the streets of Delhi. More than four thousand Sikhs were killed in three days. Writer-director Shonali Bose was a student in Delhi during those days. She worked in the relief camps set up after the massacre, writing down the stories of those who survived. Bose brings to the flashback scenes in AMU the intense impact of first-hand experience. AMU is powered by a sense of outrage still felt today. The film makes a strong case that this massacre was not spontaneous but planned, and depicts politicians and police who were involved but went unpunished. Kaju’s questions produce difficult answers that force her to face the truth of India’s history - and her own. 8. http://www.panthic.org/news/125/ARTICLE/2172/2006-01-15.html Punjab Police Torture Brother of KCF (Panjwar) Sunday 15th January, 2006 Panthic Weekly New Bureau Taran Tarn, Punjab (KP) - Sarbjit Singh, the brother of Khalistan Commando Chief, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, was abducted and tortured by the Jhabal (Taran Tarn) Police on false charges last week. While talking to reporters at his home, Sarbjit Singh, alleged that on January 9th, Police picked him up from his house initially on the pretext of taking him to the police station in connection with a passport inquiry, but upon arrival, the police immediately began to interrogate and torture him. The sixty-five year old Sarbjit Singh said he was tortured with electric shocks, heavy rollers and other inhumane methods. According to Sarbjit Singh, the police wanted him to withdraw the cases filed in the Punjab High Court against them for the murder of his mother and brother. He stated that when he declined to retract those cases, the police began accusing him of printing counterfeit money, and receiving phone calls from his brother Paramjit Singh. He was then put through various methods of torture, including electric shocks, rolling heavy rollers on his legs, and being hung upside down, which resulted in the displacement of vertebrae. He also stated that the police also violated the sanctity of his Kesh (hair). His son, Gurdev Singh, who was at home on military leave, also claimed that the police have been intimidating his father so he would retract the case filed in Punjab High court for murder of his mother and brother. The witness proceeding phase of the case is to begin on January 27th. The Khalsa Mission Committee chairman, Harmandip Singh charged this is all being done to intimidate witnesses who might testify against the police and to force Sarbjit Singh to withdraw his case. Such heavy handed tactics of the police are not uncommon in Punjab. Amnesty International and other human rights groups have reported extensively on the gross human rights violations being committed by the police and armed forces in Punjab. 10. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh ! http://www.speroforum.com/site/article.asp...sub=128&id=2382 Indian police arrest elderly Sikh author The World Sikh Council - America Region condemns the actions of the Indian police in abducting elderly Sikh author, Mr. Ajmer Singh Monday, January 09, 2006 by Spero News The World Sikh Council - America Region (WSC-AR) condemns "the illegal and arbitrary actions" of the Indian police in abducting an elderly Sikh author, Mr. Ajmer Singh, on January 5, 2006 from Chandigarh, India. The police initially refused to acknowledge the detention but when the matter was made public by Lawyers for Human Rights International, the police acknowledged the detention and Mr. Ajmer Singh was produced before a magistrate. The magistrate found Mr. Ajmer Singh had been falsely arrested by the police and ordered his release on January 6, 2006. Mr. Ajmer Singh, who is about 60 years old, has been working on a new book dealing with Sikh events in India since 1984, during which the Indian Government "unleashed a genocidal era of state terrorism against Sikhs, especially formally initiated Sikhs, during the 1980s and 1990s," according to the Sikh Council. Since June 2005, news reports have emerged from the Sikh Homeland of Punjab in South Asia, the Sikh Council claims, saying that "A new wave of arrests and detentions of Sikhs has been unleashed by the Indian Government. This is in gross violation of civil liberties and political freedoms guaranteed by the Indian Constitution and by the International Covenants and Conventions on Human Rights." WSC-AR calls for the responsible police officials to be charged in this case and brought to justice for their illegal and arbitrary actions. WSC-AR further appeals to the Government of India to: - Investigate and make public an inquiry into the killings of Sikhs by police and security forces since the 1970s, - Release all political prisoners, particularly Sikhs, and - Provide full disclosure and remedial measures pertaining to enforced disappearances, custodial deaths, extra-judicial killings, and illegal cremations. WSC-AR said it wishes to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Lawyers for Human Rights International for intervening in this case in India, and ENSAAF, a US-based organization fighting impunity in India, which submitted an urgent action appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. According to the Sikh Council, the Sikh nation continues to seek transparency and accountability. "Thousands of Sikhs continue to languish in jails in India for decades without charge or trial. Thousands more have become the victims of enforced disappearances, custodial deaths, extra-judicial killings, and illegal cremations. This history makes the new wave of Sikh arrests all the more ominous," the Council said in a statement.

 12. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh ! http://news.webindia123.com/news/showdetai...87184&cat=India Khalra panel for prosecuting Gill in rights activist's murder Jalandhar | December 10, 2005 5:46:10 PM IST The Khalra Committee has urged the CBI to file a supplementary charge sheet in the murder case of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra for prosecuting then Director General of Police (DGP) K P S Gill for his alleged involvement in the killing. Talking to reporters here today, Committee spokesman Daljit Singh said the demand was made yesterday by Mr Khalra's widow Mrs Paramjit Kaur in an application to the CBI. Mr Singh said the evidence submitted before the special CBI court in Patiala which held trial of the case, had established Mr Gill's involvement as ''real conspirator'' in the abduction and killing of Mr Khalra in September 1995. Mr Singh said the court had accepted the evidence but since Mr Gill was not made an accused in the case he could not be prosecuted. The special CBI court had recently convicted six of the nine accused, including a Deputy Superintendent of Punjab Police, in the case. While two convicts including the DSP were awarded lifeterm, four others got seven year sentence. Two accused in the case had died sometime back and one of was discharged by the trial court. The Committee had also urged the CBI to file an appeal before the Punjab and Haryana High Court for more stringent and equal punishment to all six accused in the case.

Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh ! http://www.sikhsangat.org/publish/article_627.shtml Khalra panel cries foul By Tribune Dec 1, 2005, 02:00 Tarn Taran, November 30 The Khalra Mission Committee (KMC) and the Punjab Human Rights Organisation (PHRO) in a press statement issued here today alleged that the policemen convicted in the Jaswant Singh Khalra murder case were moving freely. Ms Paramjit Kaur Khalra, wife of Mr Khalra of the KMC, and Justice Ajit Singh Bains and Mr Kirpal Singh Randhawa, chairman and deputy chairman of the PHRO, alleged that workers of their organisations had seen Jasbir Singh Bhagupur, former SHO of Manochahal, moving on a motor cycle on November 24 at Patti, while Satnam Singh, former SHO of Chabal, was seen in Batala the same day. The signatories said that they had proofs in this matter. The signatories demanded a judicial inquiry into the allegation. 16. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh ! http://cities.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=154956 Saturday , October 29, 2005 TV reporter ‘assaulted’ by Punjab Police; senior officials shift blame on PCA Express News Service SAS Nagar, October 28: SATENDER Chauhan, a reporter with Zee News, was reportedly beaten up by nearly one dozen Punjab Police personnel led by an assistant sub-inspector outside the PCA Stadium this evening. Satender was covering the match when he saw a large crowd near Gate No. 1 raising anti-Punjab Police slogans. The crowd comprised cricket fans who had allegedly bought tickets for as high as Rs 2,500, but were still not being allowed to enter the stadium. Chauhan and his cameraman recorded the entire sequence of events, in which fans alleged that policemen on duty were letting in people without tickets by taking Rs 500 from each of them. No sooner had the Zee News team finished recording, an ASI along with a dozen or so personnel in black uniforms, attacked Satender Chauhan who was pushed on road and received several blows and kicks. Chauhan received several injuries and was taken to the Civil Hospital, Phase VI, Mohali. After the incident, the police removed the ‘guilty’ personnel from the spot and several police personnel present at the spot removed their name plates. TV reporters and camerapersons, led by the president and office bearers of the Electronic Media Association gathered at the spot and lodged a protest against the police assault. The matter was taken up with SSP S.P. Singh, who claimed PCA had issued extra tickets owing to which the police had to keep genuine ticket buyers out of the PCA Stadium. Members of the media also complained to DIG Ludhiana range Parag Jain and ADG (Intelligence) J.P. Birdi.
 17. The governement of india has attacked and made Sikhs ghulam Its not about a piece of land, Its about Justice and Freedom 134276 If it's about justice and freedom. stay in india and fight for rights. fight back. When Auranzeb and other fascist rulers tried to oppress khalsa, did khalsa ran away and created it's own land ?? NOOOOOO ! . Khalsa stayed there and fight the oppression. 134278 The Khalsa is not running away....dont worry about that. India will never give you justice or freedom.....just look at recent example of Nanavati report and commission. Mass Murderers are given more protection rather than prosecution. The foundation of Khalistan was laid when they attacked Sri Harmandir Sahib and Akal Takhat Sahib.... the tyrants have be punished and will be punished in due course, History is the witness of that.
