DASO? foto dikhavo fir gal karday ah The train one is nice, but i suggest you shrink your watermark...it ruins a good image. Try it in B&W as well. and the picture of harmandir sahib, get rid of the graphics around the temple and crop the image. just few suggestions, don't take them to offensively. just trying to see how the image can be better brought out. Are you just using a point and shoot or what camera are you using?

  5. This country is racist and ignorant towards its citizens and it has been for some time. Perhaps even more ignorant of the history of how this country was started by immigrant and further more the blood that these so called 'Americans' spilled of its Native residents to call this place their home. No matter how much voice of tolerance, peace and equality you speak some people are not going to change. There will always remain ignorance. You can't convince this country as a whole, but perhaps you can change the views of one voice so they may stand beside you when no one else does.
  6. awesome, ill look through them. What kind of a camera do you have P&S or a DSLR? here are few of mine... http://www.gurmarag.net/Fotos/Random/
  7. Why have we? That which is Tabooed by society often leads to it being a problem, because those who want it will find ways to get it. You tell a child not to touch something, they will go after it time and time again. You teach that child why they shouldn't touch it, they have then a reason, an understanding as to why they are asked to avoid it. Knowledge of Sex creates awakening, it creates awareness and an awake mind to make a conscious decision about what action will lead to growth and what will not. We should have more topics to discuss what is Sex, it needs to be brought out in the open to the Public, especially to the Youth. In fact I feel there should be a Sub Forum specifically dealing with the 5 Vices so we can all understand through Giaan what exactly they are, what pulls us towards the flesh of another, knowing that underneath this body is nothing but blood, guts, urine, excrete and bones. Open the body with a knife and is the sexual desire still there? Why are there certain parts of the body which can cause us to loose to our sense or awareness or feel disgusted by it? Did God not create that part of our body as well? Is this just our social conditioning? Why does the mind have such an attraction that can drive an individual to feel abused by it? This has to be understood first, we must understanding the root cause of this Sexual Desire before we begin to write books on it.
  8. next time you bow, leave your mind in the Golakh.
  9. I know we've got some talented folks here, but i was wondering if anyone here really is into photography. If so i'd like to see what you've taken pics of and perhaps learn/share some pointers, tips etc.
  10. I wish this story held its ground when facing the turmoils of this world. What causes a mother, an 'Angel' to kill her unborn child? What causes this Angel to neglect, or abuse her child? I wish your feel good story held its ground.... What Karma did that child incur to be born of such a mother....I wish all the mothers were Angels....
  11. How is this a rejection of Hindu Avtaars? When we interpret through our already biased/conditioned minds, we see what we want to see. If anything, These versus remind us of the True Nature of God, the true roop of the Divine, that is beyond the physical shapes and sizes. These Shabads place great emphasis on the Nirgun aspects of the Divine just like Jaap Sahib does and the Sargun roops are being denounced so that we remember that God is not that which can be understood by the mind or with words. The mystery is beyond the capacity of the mind because it is the mind that understands words and attains knowledge, but God is not some piece of Knowledge that is to be attained by the Mind or understood through words written in scriptures. He has manifested himself in his creation time and time again...Let us remember his true nature and not be caught up in the illusionary Sargun/Maya/Esoteric aspects of this Divinity. If anything it is a rejection of an ideology of Man who claims God to be only in a Rock, who claims God to be a Man who was once born, who claims God's mystery is written in books and if read he too can come to know the mystery God.
  12. It is obvious that she has moved on from her past. You need to talk it out with her...be as honest and open with her as you are on this forum with stranger. If she took the first step towards you making her vulnerable then you must also do the same towards her. You both have the opportunity to come out of this stronger than before. To me it seems she has surrendered herself to you, she has taken a risk by telling you this and i'm sure you agree it took allot of courage. The issue you are going to have to get through is Forgiveness and understanding that people do make mistakes, they have regrets. We must develop our capacity to forgive others. If virginity was such a big issue to you, perhaps you should've made the effort to find out before you guys got this far? I don't mean to give you more things to regret about, but i'm just trying to show that after the fact we are filled with regrets and what we could've, would've, should've done. Such is life...some are fortunate enough to not make major mistakes in their lives, others not so much. You as an individual now has to deal with someone who wasn't as fortunate as you. So tell me how is her personality? how is her outlook on life? what are the things you love about her? Is she religious as you? Does she Love the same things in life that you do? Does she make you laugh? Will she provide you with strength when you are weak? Will she love your parents and family as much as you do? Will she defend you or stand by you when no one else does? Perhaps you shouldn't marry her, perhaps she deserves a Husband who can look past her regrets, her mistakes and accept her for what she has become, not what she was. If you cannot resolve this issue with yourself before marriage then don't marry her. You would be just creating a very difficult situation for yourself and from her stand point she doesn't need to be reminded of her past every time you look at her body because it seems she is genuinely trying to move forward. You can get through this, if you do it can only make you a stronger and wiser person. It is a difficult decision no doubt and it is much easier for me to sit here and type out my thoughts than it is for you to actually live through it. I wish you the best my veer and hope whatever decision you make will be the best for the both of you. I hope i've helped somewhat and not confused you further. You are assuming she lost her virginity after they had met. Which I don't think is the situation.
  13. you can't pm nor can anyone else pm you because you haven't registered. I suggest you post the lines here so anyone can help.
  14. The world isn't black and white...If you can't forgive others, don't expect God or anyone for that matter to forgive you for your mistakes. Did you consider the amount of courage it took her to tell you this? Give her some respect, she took a huge risk to her future and her (family's) honor by telling you this. Do you know what will happen to her if you tell your parents this? How will they react, are they going to tell her parents about this? You have to resolve this personally with yourself, don't bring anyone else into this. The moment you bring a third person into this, you would betray her trust that she confided in you to tell you perhaps her deepest secret. I hope you don't overlook this! Trust my friend does not come by easily. It is time to look beyond the physical aspects of purity and learn to see whether she has a pure heart which far outweighs the physical aspects. Look beyond your ego and your purist view of yourself. Your preservation of your Virginity should humble you not harden your ego that you dare not touch others who are not worthy in your eyes. We all have our karmas that we must go through...you consider yourself fortunate to not have to deal with it, but where your experience should've given you a humble outlook towards those who aren't as pure as you, it has given you the direct opposite. If God looked at all your mistakes and said well He's not pure like me, do you think you'd be where you are now? The decision after all is yours to make....I can only voice my opinion.
  15. Would Sarbloh be in the same category in the eyes of God? Why/Why not?
  16. I think you have to look at these Shabad from a different perspective than the one you've taken. I think these words are being spoken towards hypocrites who adorn these Malas but lack the Simran within. Wearing these Malas, a Tilak, Dhoti etc which gives the impression that one is Dharmic yet they lack the Dharmicness within. Mala can be a great aid in your Saadhna given that it is worn with the correct intentions, not as an ornament in which case the shabads you've posted do apply to. But this does not apply to malas alone, ones 1 meter dumala decorated with khandas can be in the same example. If it has simply become a fashion statement then obviously the intention and message has been lost. Veera jee, han jee guru jee is talking about hypocrites in the first shabad, but look at what kabir jee is saying in the second shabad which I posted: 1364} Clearly Kabir jee is saying that his mala is Wahegurus nam. so mala is redefined and nam is our mala. Now if some people want to keep using a mala, they can do because end of the day they are still remembering Gods name. However veer jee im stuck in bharam and fail to understand how moving beads on a mala is an aid? what does it do to make your mind contemplate on nam? How can having a mala around your waist or around your dastar be used as an aid? what are you supposed to do, move the mala around your waist while reciting? I do mean to offend people who wear malas or just argue for the sake of arguing, but like I said i have this bharam and fail to understand the idea of having malas around your waist and on your dastar. Beloved veer ji, There is nothing like a direct experience so I suggest you take a mala, any mala you can get your hands on and move each bead "Awarefully" and consciously to the other side while reciting Waheguru. Be honest with your intentions, don't use the mala to further prove your view of it being useless rather it is important that you be neurtral in your thought. Give it a few days and see how it is, if it helps gather your mind great, if it doesn't that too is great. It is not wise for us to think that every method of Simran be it using ones breath or mala will work for everyone...Just as one piece of clothing does not fit all....for some it is hard to wrap their mind around it, for other it falls short and they feel it is useless. These aids are mostly for beginners and the shabad that you posted is expressing an experience of someone who has reached his goal. We certainly cannot expect to sit down one day and be in the state of Bhagat Kabeer ji as expressed in the Shabad. It is a progressive journey and on the path we need all the help we can get. Like training wheels for a child, they are a means to an end. The mind collects at that one bead, at that one instant of his name being spoke, in that one moment that one bead is held in the fingers and moved down. Here is a Sufi Kafi I heard once.. Tasbi kay daano ko Bhikarnay nahi daytay, Kio? Yay Jisko Banatay hai Bigarnay nahi daytay. (I hope you can understand it, its in urdu. Tasbi is another name for Mala) As for a Mala being worn around ones neck, waist...that i cannot answer as I've never done it nor inquired as to the reasonings behind it. Perhaps it is for the same reason a General will wear his medals...a reminder to him from where he has come, the journey he has taken. Now the interesting this here is, while the General has earned all those medals with his hard work....has the Sikh earned his right to adorn himself with such symbols, Malas etc or are they done out of decorations? Perhaps you should ask someone face to face why they are wearing such items and what is their intentions. I'd love to know myself.

  18. There is a difference between you making the movement and the movement happening on its own. Simply the act of movement does not create more 'Anand' it is what causes the body to move is when you surrender your body and mind to the beat of the Music/Sound/Vibrations/Words. But when movement does happen, get out of its way and allow it to happen and the truth of the matter is when it does happen on its own, you won't be able to stop it. You'd become an observer to the movement not the creator of it.
  19. search for Bhai/Panthi Ratan ji.....not all of his singing is from Gurbani, some of it is from Sufi kafis.
  20. What is Bani? Is bani the words written in ink? If so then how can that which is limited to the 1430pages be nirankar? If not then what exactly was the Guru refering to? Is it an equivalent statement to say that Bani = Guru which is Nirankar? So then is it Bani/Guru that is Nirankar or is it that which the Guru/Bani points towards which is Nirankar? Is the form/shape/sound of the words/bani/Guru Niranakar or just symbols which are used to express the inexpressible expression? So has the Mystery been fully known or expressed in symbols or signs or words or are they too falling short? What is Bani?
  21. There is a saying in Buddhism that in Meditation even if your Guru came in a vision and stood before you, brush him/her aside and continue your meditation.
  22. Gurbani is the recipe and Meditation is the result of your cooking in the pot of your Awareness, Love, Devotion.
  23. The real question is that would someone include the Guru Granth Sahib in this category?
