My few thoughts on this issue In India following religion get marriage certificate under HINDU Marriage ACT Hindus,Sikhs,buddist, jains There is long pending demand from Sikhs to get certificate under “ Anand Marriage act 1909” Only country that gives this certificate is Pakistan. Since this act was pre 1947 So valid in both the states. They make modification , rather completion of defining all situations in 2007 and get it approved in Pakistan parliament. Sarna of DSGPC make significant inputs in it Actually it is not question of only marriage certificate. It has others issue too defined The marriage, divorce , property inheritance on death, child ownership in dispute . All needs to be defined. Also another important things come of reservations. Not many people know this. But low caste people are getting benefit of Hindu, Sikhs , Buddhist & jains. Based on article 25 While Muslims & Christians are left out of benefit system. If Sikhs insist on changing article 25. They need to be careful . The low caste people among Sikhs should not be left out of reservation systems Changing article 25 have its advantages also. Then case of separatism gets strong in UNO. As per its(UNO) article 19 gives peblesite rights for different religion people, at the moment Sikhism is not recognised as separate religion in India. UNO rapperter make a visits in India on this issue in 2007. Under pressure Indian govt announce on floor of the house that Sikhs will start getting marriage register under “Anand marriage Act”. Things are getting on tizzy as supreme court have given directions to all states to make marriage registration mandatory.( That was due to lot many NRI duping girls in India, a separate issue). Most of the states are follow the direction, but Punjab govt is in trouble. Making hindu marriage act certificate of all people in Punjab will be politically explosive. One way Akali are thinking is to register marriage under local “Anand marriage act” but marriage certificate will not be issued. I am not sure what legal way around is that.

NDTV is the most anti sikh tv channel I have ever seen.( Even Zee TV is much better) It is all hindi speaking(up/bihar) belt people while rule in this channel. It will be first to report any incident on sikhs getting bash up in any part of world. But last or rather no report on any pro sikh news its fesitvals or 300 year celebartaion etc. This way it try to influence young minds that being in sikh image is wrong Now on 7 wonders. I wonder if some one heard to include Vatican , Mecca or jesuluam to be in included in 7 wonders at world level or even at local country level? The answer is "NO" . A religious place is not a tourist place. That place have a purpose. I think best way forward is to make legal case of making punjabi mandatary in all schools in chandigarh ( private , public etc). Also all shops in chnadigarh have to display boards in punjabi too. Chaps My few thoughts on this subject It is unlikely that war will happen between indo-pak so soon. But at some point in 2- 5 year time ,it is bound to happen. Reasons are many but trigger point will be indus water treaty issue. The moment pakistan find its water sharing is lowered by ristrict river flow due to dam construction , it will attack india with full power. Kashmir is important for pakistan as rivers to punjab flow from that area. Actaully both countries think they can break other one while they will remain as its is. Pakistan thinks broadly india in 5-6 parts South india, Gujrat-maharatsra, Punjab-haryana-himachal, Rajistan, Cow belt (UP,bihar,bengal,madhya pardesh etc ie main power centre of present day india) , 7 state of north east While india think pakistan can be divided into 4 parts punjab, sindh balustan tribal ares Now I am not sure what will happen whenever war starts. War is alawys bad. May be one country break or both break. But one thing is sure. Both will not remain as its in political boundres term, especially if Neclear war happen. One or both have to breakup India have opened 15 envoy offices!! in afganistan around border iwth paksitan. TOPIC:: Group of People Equipped with Weapons, cover the whole Patna railway station in Bihar. And then they beat Sikh travellers NEWS STORY:: (Chandigarh 17 December Satnam singh). The life of Common Sikhs venturing outside Punjab is not safe after the events of 1984 in today’s India. Today also Sikhs can be named terrorist and then can be beaten up even in the presence of police. A sad incident of such kind happens in the state of Bihar , which is ruled by the Akali dal (badal) partner BJP on 26th November 2008 with the Sikhs travellers who have went to the birth place of guru gobind singh ji. This incident was told by old couple Kulwant singh (74) and Nirmal kaur(62) who lives in Dera Bassi district, Mohali ,Punjab. They said that they were just when stepping down in Patna railway station on 26th November from the train(named) Akal Takth Express , a group of Bihari people, equipped with sticks and stones , start picking “ sikhs only” from the train and start beating them. The Biharis were Shouting “ Sardars are terrorist” . In this beating many old Sikh male members and Sikh women got badly hurt . Also their luggage was lost. The couple said the incident happen in presence of local police. Police did not try stop any of the attackers. Old fellow Kulwant Singh told that the couple face too many sticks. Nirmal kaur is even today lying on the bed only. Kulwant Singh try to tell us the background of the incident. While people stepping down from the Akal Tatkh express. A local person named “Vinod Sharma” got in argument with a sikh traveller from Punjab. When Vinod Sharma try to grab the beard of sardar. The Sardar slap the face of Vinod Sharma. Vinod Sharma immediately get out of the railway station get team up the local people. The weapon equipped biharis cover the whole railway station. At that time total number of Sikhs were 40 to 50 in number. Out of which the number of women and children were greater in number. The Attackers keep beating sikhs without any fear for 15 to 20 minutes, while the railway police or any local people did not come in aid of Sikhs. Sikhs travellers themselves only try their best to save from angry attackers.They told that sikh travellers try to went to local police station for help. But the local police persons were behaving with hate only. The local police person says “ sardar Sahib, right now I am taking a bath, once I wear my uniform, then I will do some action”. During this attackers also cover the GRP police station. Also IPR police force was also in place in the railway station. It is only when the incident’s news goes to 1 km away local police station. The police persons come. But by then the attackers have left. These police persons only take the injured sikhs to local Gurudwara. Injured sikhs get the medical treatment and local committee was informed..Local committee members make efforts, thus GRP police’s DSP and few media persons come to take photo graphs & statements from the injured Sikhs . Kulwant Singh have demanded from prime minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and railway minister Lallu parsad yadav To take strong action on the attackers, so that in future such incident is not repeated again. He also make appeal to Punjab Chief Minster Parkash Singh Badal to be in touch with Chief minister of Bihar Nitish kumar so that the justice can be given to the injured people.

All the issues that you have listed are non-issue except the first one as far as Sikhs outside Delhi are concerned. Why did not he take assurance from congress president to implement “Anand marriage act” for Sikhs in India ? Also library books taken in blue star operation 1984 should be returned back. These are basic issues of Sikh. He being in Delhi could have easy influence this, using his political clout. Congress seems certain to win 2009 election. It will be good if April 2009 election support be based on national issues of Sikhs.

It seems sikhs in delhi support Sarna group instead of Badal. As congress wins delhi in thumping majority. Any singhs from delhi can explain as why sikhs support congress in big way. All Four Akali candidates losses the state elections in delhi

Through in principle I agree that in India we should have one SGPC. That way representation of sikhs will be better and all will follow same mariayatha But off late the way SGPC & akali dal badal keeping so close to hardcore hindus does not appeal good to me. It may have been okay initially for first few years after militrancy ends in Punjab. Though Sikhs will get divided but if DSGPC is working fine in delhi then Haryana SGPC may also be fine especially the current leadership of SGPC is good for nothing. The way Vandenti was removed does not appear good. Best option is to give some autonomuos powers to harayana Sikhs within SGPC to run gurudwaras in harayana. And current leadership be changed.

Corruption is world wide phenomena. In India rate was around 5 crore(6,25,000 pounds) to vote for govt and 3 crore to abstain to each MP. Actually with this deal around 100 billion dollars ( 50 billion pounds) worth investment over 10 year to create 30 nuclear reactor of 1200 MW each ( 40000 MW) are to be built. This is quite a money to invest in business for western nuclear companies. Also military warfare will be purchased from US instead of Russia as per new agreement. This again runs in billions. Sadly even this investment is not good enough as India requires 400000 MW in total in next 10-15 year time . With so much money involved, corruption was bound to come. Even one Akali MP from ropar abstain from voting. Let hope few nuclear reactors are built in Punjab

Anyway July 15th core meeting of SAD ( badal) have decided to vote against Govt. So now things are clear . It will not even abstain but will come and vote against the govt in parilament.

My understanding is India’s this deal do guarantee that west will now start playing big brother role in saving India from any external threat. (read china) and possible internal anarchy or bloodshed. So from safety point of view the deal is good for Sikhs being minority. Any internal dispute can be settled now under the guidance of new big brother “West”. N-power is just part of the deal. India loosing independent status is main point. But it has to do this, if wants to save away from anarchy & blood shed in future. Current system will not remain long may be 5 - 10 years, given the population explosion and rich poor divide. Aging political leadership. Sons & daughters of these leaders may find hard to fill the vacuum of this leadership or give direction in 10 year time. I am for N-Deal. Akalis should get assurance that N –plant is setup in Punjab in lieu of support for on N Deal in parliament vote .Rather couple of N plants should be setup in Punjab under IAEA guidelines So far, I have not seen any news as where the Akalis claim to support Govt on N-deal. The last I heard was that they will discuss the issue. This deal is going to make India away from non-alignment independent policy to be under US now. I think its good for Sikhs. Sarna was right in asking two dozen sikhs MPs to support Manmohan Singh on this deal.

I also used to get confused if chicken can be eaten why not beef. It is one thing that one should be vegetarian. Then do not eat any non-veg.But if people can eat chicken then better we should start eating beef too. We are not Hindus. We are Sikhs and lets put beef in Sikh marriages as Menu to eat.
