  1. WJKK WJKF The concept of a helmet seems like an excellent idea, since nowadays many Sikhs are refused employment based on being unable to adhere to the ‘correct’ safety uniform code. In this way, the helmet as described, would remove such obstacles and allow Sikhs to undertake activities that may have been refused to them before. It is also interesting to learn that Sikhs and the Indo Persian Jang did use to wear protective layers under their dastar, thus maintaining sikhi values/tradition. might be some issues with trying to create a standard size/shape that will fit all head sizes/shapes, but im sure ull be able to sort that out. Hope the project goes well! Great poster work! Good luck Wjkk wjkf

  6. managed to survive in the end! was actually surprised with the range of food they have - thought it would be all greasy noodles with chicken, beef, pork and fish etc although that was tru to some extent, theres also a lot of meatless/eggless options too; soups, mushrooms and veg, spinach, green beans ,mung bean porridge (interesting!), tofu, and lots of sticky rice! but did start to miss dal and roti after the first week! and didnt come across much dog/cat/rat meat, but i was told that for the olympics, beijing isnt allowed to serve such foods, incase they cause offence! thanks for all ur advice

  13. right ive emailed BBC Southeastern (southeasttoday@bbc.co.uk ) could everyone do the same; the more people who email requesting possible media coverage, the more likely theyll take it seriously. Heres what i sent, u can use as a template On behalf of the members from SikhSangat.com forum, we would like to inform you of a forthcoming peaceful protest against the recent killing of an innocent Sikh; A major conflict has broken out in Punjab between the Orthodox Sikh community and an extremist sect known as ‘Dera Sacha Sauda. (DSS) Tension roots back to the continual clashes between these two communities as outlined by http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6670569.stm. Recently on the 28th of June, DSS terrorists initiated an open fire assault in Mumbai, killing an unarmed Sikh. Indian police remained idle and turned their faces away from beating up unarmed Sikh men, women, children and elders openly in front of national media. Over 1500 protestors have been arrested across Punjab for peacefully protesting against these killings and subsequently this has sent shockwaves nationwide to the Sikh community. The protest (scheduled for Sunday 13th July) will be held at Guru Nanak Darbar Gudwara, Clarence Road, Gravesend, Kent. Permission from local temples and community support officers has been granted. If at all possible, we would be highly grateful if you could let us know whether media coverage, either internet-based, TV, or radio could be offered in order to promote awareness of the constant discontent amongst those continually subjected to injustice. Kind regards Mundill Mahil Mahi001@medway.org.uk if everybody jus copy and paste/re-word etc and send it to their local newspapers/news broadcasters etc, hopefully we'll get a response please send to: news.plan@bskyb.com southeasttoday@bbc.co.uk yournews@itv.com kent@bbc.co.uk
  14. WJKK WJKF think its a brilliant idea i was just wondering maybe it would be good idea to try and get media attention to spread the word e.g. the local Gravesend newspaper since Kent Messenger always seems desperate for news/stories lol their email is: gravesendonline@thekmgroup.co.uk an email could be written requesting the possibility or some form of media coverage If it seems like a feasible idea, i dont mind sending them an email worth a try lol just let me kno if u need any help Also a friend is part of the Medway Ethnic Minority club (or something like that!) lol i could try and advertise through there aswell
