  1. Recently I was approached with a dilemma. I have noticed we are quick to call ourselves Sikh, but at times we dont have much knowledge of SGGS. In attempting to find a solution I came to a Christian Bible study. One of my friends runs one of these and I asked her about how it is organized. They basically have a set of questions for each part of the Bible. They all read through the scripture before the study and answer the questions. In the study they discuss their answers to the questions. The girl said that they all have different answers. The diversity of responses allows for people to understand the multiple interpretations of the scripture. Whats awesome is that people figured those out by themselves rather listening to some body else. Humans are more likely to remeber things that they figure out themselves. We as Sikhs have the SGGS, the Dasam Granth, Bhai Gurdas's Vars, Bhai Gurdas's 642 Kabiit Swayye, the many different Janamsakhi traditions are all available in English in one form or another. This method can used to introduce Sikh themes and ideas to the younger generation and to also draw westerners into the fold of sikhism. The biggest complaint i have seen from youth and western converts is the lack teaching for adults. This can also be done in Punjabi or any other lang. sikhs read the SGGS in. I really want to here your feed back on this. Thanks, kuthaman

The author was mesmerized by a Sikh celebration. The man began to do a lot of research and found out that there was not much information on the Sikh religion. In cooperation with the Great Sikh Scholar Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha and through rigorous labor they produced this book set on Sikhism. The mans British superioirs criticized him for turning a Sikh. In his servants memoirs it is recorded that about 30 minutes before he passed away he was reciting the Japji Sahib. This man dedicated his life to this. The book set has gone into public domain and is available. It is an insult to this mans life if we do not learn from this monumental work. THis work CONTAINS EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING you can imagine on Sikhi.!!!!!!!! Note: These pdf files range from 25-50mgs and to save them right click and save target as. Enjoy!!!!!! 7. 1) The debates on Dasam Granth, Jhatka, Keski be put to an end. Differing opinions will always exist within the Panth. Thats part of any religious tradition. Small issues like these should not be number one. 2) Gurbani should be recited out loud everywhere. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU HERE!!!!!!! 3) Books preaching Sanatan Mat in Sikhism to be stopped. These Radhasoami cults seem to be converting westerns the most. Honestly if you wanna stop these kind of publications you need a strong Sikh newspaper. Take the Singh Sabhas they fought aganst these Sanatan nutjobs a 100 years before are time. Has anyone seen any of there publications there so amazing. I have a book at home with all these publications in original print. Reading them gives me inspiration that we can make a difference. If you wanna challenge them write write and write!!!!!! 4) All Deras, Sampradas, Jathas need to come under Akaal Takhat Sahib. Akal Takht is definitely the temporal throne, but these cursed Akalis are the real ones hurting the panth Here some stats: Golden Temple gets more visitors than the Taj Mahal each year and all that money goes in the Akali Dal pockets people. We have the money to pay for missionaries but all they do is build Gurdwaras instead of making more Sikhs. Deras and everything if brought under control will bring only more revenue for Badal and family. lol 5) Sehajdhari system is old and out dated. A Mona can not be a Sikh. A person must become a Sikh from the inside. I ve seen way to many Sardars get drunk and do other negative things. 6) Growing worrying trend is befriending the Turk, Sir Gum people (head and facial hair shaven off), alcoholics, people who do black magic. These are all low people and not to be trusted. This sounds out there because we dont discriminate within the Sikh panth. Guru Nanak converted the Koda Rakshs(sorry if i spelled wrong) a cannibal and gave him the responsibility of reforming his tribe. 7) Ramgharia wedding halls to be shut down. We dont have these in the states can really address this. lol I like your concern for the faith, but your approach to the problem needs to be reworked.

  9. Really Good. Anybody plan to order the book?
  10. one bit of the mp3 summarized: A fakir/ a sadhu used to sent letters to mohammad. This letters were collected from different parts like mecca, medina and other villages. When people used to ask where this letter came from, mohammad used to say from God. When this letters were completed ,the fakir/sadhu informed mohammad that he wanted to visit him. Mohammad told his followers that a shaitan (satan) will be visiting and would be claming that the letters are from him. AND TO KILL HIM. So Mohammad basically got this sadhu murdered to claim himself as the real sadhu/prophet. My comment: This means that islam started with a murder to hide plagirism and continues with murder. The katha is a good interpretation, but in reading the text for myself I found that God's beloved Muhammad descended to Earth and he just all those came before him fell into ego. Fell into ego can be described as veneration of ones own name over God. This can be seen in many different islamic texts. When they say his name they always have to say May Peace be upon him. In another part of the Dasam Granth there is a statement there was many Muhammads that are unaccountable within God's creation, but they all perished when there purpose or time came to end within God's will. Hope that helps
  11. The last SSA meeting my school had was almost 2 years ago. I personally sat there and complained about the state of things for a long time, but one day I realized that leaders are not found but they are made within ourselves. As Sikhs we have a gift from the Guru and through following Bani and living as a gurmukh we all are on the path to make a difference. The main point is if you see something you dont like within the community or disagree stand up up for it. As a Sikh that is a God given authority. Three Sikhs when together have the ability to make decisions its a fundamental right in Sikhi that has been downplayed in recent times. Dont look for others to lead you, but find it within yourselves to make that change within the community. Its easy to complain about the status quo , but to challenge it is a different task. Jathas and all this sectarian crap is only overcome by a united sikh panth. In conclusion if there is a problem to confront gather around a few Sikh friends and devote a few hours a week to educating and carrying out field work that will reach the community. Best of Luck to those who seek to change the face of the community for the better.
  12. I totally agree with you but we need to take a more proactive approach in spreading Sikhi. We live in a modern world why not expose are neighbors and others we come in contact with to Sikhi. Its a common misconception that Sikhism is not a missionary religion. We have had missionaries since the beginning of the panth. One of the first is Bhai Gurdas Ji and the 19th century Singh Sabha Movement all were missionary. They spread the faith to any one that was a seeker of truth. I totally agree but one thing you have to realize the missionary system functions to approach everybody. Sikh or NonSikh. sikhs that have lost there path need something they can honestly relate with. Gurdwara politics alienated me personally for years. I will be dead honest I lost faith for a long time in the community, but through the grace of the true guru I came back a 1000x stronger. These people who think Sikhi is just going to gurdwara or just being born sikh are dead wrong. Sikhi emphasizes the role of personal experience of religion and these cursed politics comprimise that aspect and people lose that connection with God. If my friends and I are Sikh it is a personal choice that we made by ourselves. The Sikh Missionary system is something to fill the void that slowly takes people away from Sikhi. Letme say this much people who convert to a religion are the most passionate about it. Just look at the 3HO Movement. Converts will make a lot of these apostates think twice before they discard there identity. They will realize that they are throwing away something that a million other people thirst for. A organized panth is nesscary at this point at time if we are to make the Sikh faith flourish. If you want to bring yourself back into the faith just read and make sure your educated about your history. Dont expect much for gurdwaras either because they themselves dont know much. We have a library at the local gurdwara here and Ive been to the Gurdwara like 5 times these past two months and they always tell us come back later. I got so fed up with there indesicisve behavior I started building my own book collection. Learn about the faith with passion and apply the teachings to life and you will be unstoppable with what ever you do. kuthaman

  14. The message of the Sikh faith is unrivaled by any other religion. Everybody does besides us and I am sure we have a lot to offer to the world. I think we could begin our side of Punjab or anywhere there seems to be some need. Well lets see what you all think and before you reply keep in mind there used to be Sikh missions all the way from Kabul, Afghanistan all the way down to Dhaka, Bangladesh. Our beloved Gurus traveled South Asia to spread the naam and now we have the world because Sikhs are seriously everywhere. Our community should flourish rather than just try to maintain identity in the Diaspora. Lets see what everyone says. kuthaman.
  15. Deep stuff im admire your vision and it is something we need within the community. The Sikh Community today needs to stand united and only. The youth today have forgotten there heritage and are Sikh only in name. This is something the community needs dearly today. kuthaman
