  2. waheguroo!! Kuljot Singh veerji..wow..thank you for this amazing story It really just lifts up my spirits.. and as your signature says..the precious panthkee 'guru meray sang SUDA hai nalay'
  3. I have it in Microsoft Word Format..I'll email it to you veerji, and I'll make a PDF of it and put it in the download section. What's a sis for after all?
  4. Salok Mahalay 9 are like music to the ears.. I would suggest sitting in a group setting and each taking turns with the saloks, it goes by very quickly don't worry My better half and I recited them together to commence a Sahej Paaht..it was the most magical thing, and do read the translations of these saloks..you can take so much out of them to garner the essence of the day. I wouldn't make it overly complicated, simple enough where you celebrate the occasion in your hearts and each leave with a stronger sense of (universal) Sikhi... Wishing you the best for that day..our prayers are with you..
  5. Veerji, yup it's from the website. If you go to damdamitaksal.org and go to Vichaar it's there. 6. Veerjio..personally speaking I've been veggie for a few years now, even before the blessing of amrit..and I made that comment of 'personal choice' talking mainly about people who are not veg. or instructed by their punj pyarey after amrit. sorry to upset you veerji..and the last thing I would want for myself or anyone was to not follow the punj's hukam. I totally agree though..'in punjo meh meyra vaasaa'..
  7. veerjee..there's nothing wrong with gatorade Some people think it's a big deal..that's all Like I could never eat anything with eggs in it and some people do...it's all personal choice I suppose..
  8. Waheguroo Jee ka Khalsa..Wahegruoo Jee Kee Fateh!! This takes but a few minutes to read, the lesson one learns about 'sanjog' is eternal... Poorab Janam Kai Milai Sanjogee|| The Bibi Sukhdev Kaur Story (Translated by Tapoban Admin) Written by Bhai Thakaur Singh From a very young age Bibi Sukhdev Kaur received encouragement from Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh jee to do paath and he himself had her read for him. Bibi jee would bathe, put on fresh clothes and then commence the paath as Bhai Sahib would stand behind her. Bhai Saahib would do Chaur with one hand and put his other hand on her head. Usually, only I, Thakur Singh, was the listener. I learned there that when the beloveds of the Guru give their blessings, consciousness can fly into the heavens. Not only in keertan are the sweet arrows of love released, but even in GurbaaNee paath these arrows are felt. These nectar like arrows affect not only the soul but even the body. I remember that I could only listen to this divinely inspired paath for a half hour or fourty five minutes. I would then request she stop. Those days are hard to forget. The entire atmosphere would be perfumed with Keertan and GurbaaNee paath. Like this, some time passed. Bibi Sukhdev Kaur grew up and a great test came before her. The Bibi was engaged to marry into a family of manmukhs. When talk of her marriage arose, Bibi Sukhdev Kaur told her mother that she would only marry a Gursikh. She could not marry a Manmukh. Her entire family was worried, especially her brother who was of a very harsh nature. When Bibi Sukhdev Kaur’s brother found out what she was saying, he told her “This marriage arrangement is already made and furthermore they are our relatives. Think about it. This marriage is going to happen now. And if not, I have an axe...and a sword too. We’ll finish you off” Bibi jee in those days used to meditate on naam with great spiritual ecstasy and in this state, Guru jee gave her faith. She replied to her brother, “your decision is right in your eyes and my decision is also eternal. You can do what you want” The brother drew his sword and despite the protests of their mother, dragged Bibi Sukhdev Kaur into the animals’ yard. He said “Now something is going to happen." Bibi jee replied, “you are proud of your sword and I am proud of my Guru. Only that will happen which he approves of.” Seeing her firmness, the brother brought Bibi jee back to her mother and told her to convince her daughter. The mother began to cry and lay down on the bed beside Bibi jee. Bibi jee told us that in this frightening situation, her simran was going with great power and there was no sign of fear within her. Guru jee, the True Lord, then appeared in person before her and gave her courage and blessed her with a simarnaa (this simarnaa is still with the Bibi). Then what? Bibi jee became totally ready for anything. She said “Brother, you can do what you want to me. My Satguru jee has arrived!” The brother thought for a moment and then threw down his sword. He exclaimed, “Fine. You have won and we have lost. Tell us, where shall we marry you?” Bibi jee replied, “Only Bhai Sahib can tell you that”. It was fate, that that day I had sent my nephew Dyaal Singh to Bhai Sahib with something to give to him. When Bibi jee told Bhai Sahib what had happened the previous night and how Satuguru jee had himself appeared and protected her, Bhai Sahib became very happy and called for me that very morning. I arrived at Narnagvaal an d he related the entire story to me. I put my head at his feet. Sanjog (those whom we are to meet) are determined before our birth. Bibi Sukhdev Kaur was sitting there, and approval was given for her marriage to my nephew. Bibi jee went home and told her family what had happened and when her family found out what an educated and suitable boy had been found, they all went to Bhai Sahib’s house and the ardaas for the engagement was performed. Bhai Sahib was overjoyed. He said to me, “Jogee! This is the blessing of the True Lord! You have preserved our honour. The lord shall bless you immensely." After this, the marriage took place with great fanfare. Bhai Sahib till the end gave immense love to Bibi Sukhdev Kaur and Bibi jee too lived her entire life according to Gurmat.
  9. Happy Birthday!! May you be blessed with naam and chardee kala for all your years ahead...
  10. Lucozade & Ribena drinks are made by a British company, but be aware they are available all around the Globe..just go to a desi (or any foreign) grocery store and I'm sure you'll find it...
  11. Dear sis..Ribena is Ribena wherever it is made..I saw a bottle of Lucozade Energy at the Desi Grocery store today and of course there was not a single mention of alcohol on the ingredients. Here are the Ribena products to stay away from: Ribena Blackcurrent & Cranberry Juice Drink Concentration Ribena Toothkind No Added Sugar Summer Fruits Juice Drink Concentrate Ribena Blackcurrent & Cranberry Juice Drink Ready to Drink Ribena Toothkind Orange Tropical Juice Ready to Drink
  12. NO..it is not made from the people who make Gatorade..it was just saying that Lucozade/Ribena are sports drinks LIKE Gatorade..since most of us are not familiar with the name 'Lucozade' we put Gatorade to make a relation. Like Pepsi & Coke.
  13. this list should help all those who drink their products...
  14. Waheguroo... Sounds like something I would say Gurmat is indeed the way of the light..and it would be nothing if it were just time spent in Gurdwara Sahib, while that is one of the important aspects of Gursikhi Jeevan it is much beyond that as you stated Jeeio! In my humble (and small budhee) opinion these 52 Hukams were set for this purpose, to further guide Sikhs in a more 'wordly manner'. Guru Jee tells us how to conduct business, what to study, how to treat others, what sort of families we should get married into, etc... It is beyond the Spiritual Guidance..it guides us through our lifestyle..our Gursikhi jeevan. Perhaps some of these don't make sense to us at the present time, but I'm quite sure they had some higher meaning at the time period they were written in. 16)Istri da mooh nahi fitkaarnaa - Do not silence your wife? Personally I think it means give equality (and rights) to your w ife..let her speak her opinion, let her share her feelings, and don't silence her while she is doing the speaking! Women in Guru Jee's times were given great equality and I think this is a reminder of that, they are the Guardians of our Faith, they keep their Sangat (Husband) anchored, and instill good qualities, and of course Sikhi into their children. The condition at present is quite sad though, most women who have such qualities are much older and of course wiser. Just a side note : The present women (18-35) most of them are so wrapped up with dating especially non-Sikhs, fashion, money, and 'getting places' they could care less for such great values, no wonder equality is not as high as it used to be, women are giving themselves a bad name! 39)Subh kaaraj Gurbani anusaar karnae - Do all work in accordance with Gurbani. Another guiding hukam of our Gursikhi Jeevan. In Guru jee all the answers are found, how to study, how to work, how to serve, how to be happy and successful in life, relationships, work anything! With each and every breath we remember the Divine, so it is inevitable that all our work will be done in accordance with Bani. My point is that if you understand and follow Guru Jee with an honest, devotional heart..these hukams will already be a part of you! These hukams are there to further show you that in bani it is written that with every breath you remember and praise the divine so with that do all your work in accordance with bani How beautiful is that?? 15)Par-Istri, Ma-Bhain, Dhi-Bhain, kar jaanani. Par Istri da sang nahi karna - Recognize all other women other than your wife as mothers and sisters. Do not engage in marital behavior with them. Guru jee says: inmK kwm suAwd kwrix koit idns duKu pwvih ] GrI muhq rMg mwxih iPir bhuir bhuir pCuqwvih ]1] nimakh kaam suaadh kaaran kott dhinas dhukh paavehi || gharee muhath ra(n)g maanehi fir bahur bahur pashhuthaavehi ||1|| For a moment of <admin-profanity filter activated> pleasure, you shall suffer in pain for millions of days. For an instant, you may savor pleasure, but afterwards, you shall regret it, again and again. ||1|| Again Guru Jee, Gurdev Pita Jee are guiding us with these bachaans to instill a sense of divinity inside of us, purity, high morals/virtues..it is beyond the spiritual..they thought of us in every sense..waheguroo..perhaps I look at things in too much of an 'optimistic light', but I become so full of Bliss when I read these Hukams and bachans from Guru Jee, they're truly looking out for US!! This is all part of that Gursikhi Jeevan lifestyle..to bring light to these dark ages.. Regarding this hukam, I think it is quite obvious that it it saying one should NEVER cheat on their spouse in any way (this includes dreaming/thinking of other males/females even!). We all realise that Khalsa means we are all the siblings of Gurdev Pita, hence everyone is our sibling of destiny. The problem I see at present though is that it is merely NOT ENOUGH to call some Veerji or Bhenji/Didi..your mind set has to be 100% fixed that this person is my brother..my sister..nothing more.. There are so many more I wish to speak about..but I have very limited knowledge inside of me, so I'd like to hear the Sangat's thoughts first before I even try to do some vichaar (if you can even call it that!) Great discussions by the way... p.s./Sangat Jeeio..be HAPPY find Bliss in the smallest of things...
  15. Hunjee..sister that is why I said this in my first post..Bhai Rama singh Jeeio talks about this in his books, a Gursikh has told me he will type it up for us there are some amazing reasons/examples why..it's all for our good in the end..see how much kirpa we are bestowed with
  16. Veerji..gel does harm hair, it's very unhealthy, it distorts the colour and texture, and you get white hairs faster It's just not very natural..I'm sorry but i have to stick with my original statement..gel is like hair dye or bleach..it's altering.. maaf karloh..
  17. Rochak veer, that is correct! The SGPC Rehit Maryada breaks the 5 down and doesn't include Tav Prasad Chaupai and Anand Sahib for some reason! Not sure why the SGPC does this..but I agree these banis are a must and from there add in whatever you wish...
  18. Bhai Rama Singh ji said it simply, if doing it by yourself is a drop of water, then in sangat it is a flood : "If Naam Simran is done in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and in Saadh Sangat, then it is as if one is standing in heavy rain, the flood of which sweeps away everything; in that same way, the sins of previous lives of an individual are washed away."
  19. Waheguroo..I didn't look at it that way veer..personally, I do read these banis (but one some days I wake late I do the 'short' version of Anand Sahib). These are read at amrit sanchars..of course ..but the rehit given by 5 pyarey at many amrit sanchars breaks down the 5 bani as thus: 1)Japji Sahib 2) Jaap Sahib 3)Tav Prasad Suvaiyay 4)Rehiraas 5)Sohila Perhaps this is where the confusion lies? Obviously I would strongly tell everyone to read all 5 in the morning in addition to Rehiraas/Sohila at evening and night. I think that is where there is some confusion..as the 5 pyarey (in many cases) prescribe the Rehit Maryada (SGPC), but again veerjio you are right our 5 pyarey did recite all those banis for a reason..not sure why there is this discrepency.
  20. That makes sense veerjio..but the hukam is saying 'recognise the property OF A daughter as poison' So what is the property of daugther in this instance, and why is it considered poison??? That is the question my brother!
  21. is the issue here about tying one's beard or using gel?? I'm not saying tying is wrong or right, but there are other methods of tying besides gel... Personally for me..gel is comparable to say dye/bleach for the hair..it alters it..
