  1. The basic teachings of Sikhism are 1. Worship on Gods name 2. Live by earning through honest means. 3. Share your good fortune with others.
  2. I agree about Joes not caring about Fights but dude or whatever every tom and harry in GTA knows who Sikhs are. We are the most visible minority and just read the major national newspapers , Sikhs are 2nd only to Roman catholics in terms of controversies for the past few weeks. About R A time will tell.
  3. They said permission might not be granted to dashmesh group but another group will get it. Its all politics. There is One Lak attenders. Maybe Dosanjh & Group would now want control of parade and strenghten their politicle careers. http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/Last+minute+controversies+spoiled+Vaisakhi+again/2922770/story.html
  4. I have often thought we need another Takht for Canada. And an SGPC like body and derecognition of most gurdwaras. Most are money making scams.
  5. http://www.globaltvb...0513/story.html The mayor left the parade when the float depicting Beant Singh and Satwant Singh appeared. Even National Liberal leader is demanding an apology. City of Surrey will review if the parade can be allowed next year. All becoz of one stupid comment. Same mentality that defamed us a few weaks ago at Sikh leher centre. Fools! I think something very fishy is going on all over. Or maybe we need lesser politics in our religious life.
  6. instead of using aggressive language he could have said what the other organiser said later explaining. but some of our people are too stupid and then these type of leaders cry that nobody listens to them.

  8. From what i got by searching google news is that organisers are not gonna apologise as they say no threat was issued. Only it was said that the two MPS were not invited but are welcome to attend. Incase they choose to attend they should bring their own security as they are not on official invitee list and organisors are not gonna provide extra security and if some fundamentalist attender gets charged up on them due to their moderate views it is not organisers fault so they should bring their own security. It is a small issue concerning one organiser and perceived anti-sikh politicians by many sikhs. Please dont make mountains out of moles (right quote?)
  9. Too much exictement. luckily the Helena Guergis affair is still dominant and would overshadow this Rambo stunt.
  10. I think it is stupid to glorify Khalistan or militants in the parade. This event is supposed to be about Khalsa and not 80s. Our leaders are more busy in scoring points over one another than doing something positive for people.
  11. Surrey parade gets big airtime in India as if the 100000 crowd is gonna march on hindustan next day.
  12. noone in his right mind wants to ask a direct question to Baba Dhumma unless he wants his head busted!
  13. Aaho. Well Done. Health is wealth. Lets hope punjab youth turn away drugs and return to their positive lifestyle. Badal announced govt jobs for winnners. Plus money won was also good along with the TRACTOR.
  14. Final must be over in India. Tell fast.
  15. I dont think blaming the reporter is wise. She is just doing her job.
  16. We should stay away from politics as we dont understand it. And if you know politics you would know it ( dhumma getting siropa) is not wrong. And Darshan Singhs family is well settled now. Everyone has their limits.
  17. This type of parchaar has been going on local media for years. Now the b@stard is showing his true colors. Next time Sikhs wont be asked for importance of hair. The difficult questions posed to which an ordinary Sikhs has no knowledge will create BIG doubts. And that is the objective. To destroy the faith. It had long ago become apparent that sikhs cannot be hurt from outside.
  18. Amarinder Singh's book, The Last Sunset, gives an insight into the legacy of Maharaja Ranjit Singh as a military strategist and an able administrator. Excerpts… Before Ranjit Singh, the Punjab had enjoyed international reputation in the seventh century during the reign of Harshvardhana of Thanesar due to the visit of the celebrated Chinese pilgrim Hiuen Tsang. After 12 centuries, it once again came into the limelight under Ranjit Singh, mainly on account of the Sikh Army, which was equal to any armed force in the world at that time. read on here http://www.tribuneindia.com/2010/20100404/spectrum/main1.htm
  19. I was just wondering. Could the protesters have done Ardaas to Maharaj, just as they do before boarding planes that they are going on a protest but are leaving their kirpans behind and ask for forgiveness and then went ahead without the kirpans? They could have done whatever they liked and anti Sikh lobby wouldnt have an issue with kirpaan then.
  20. http://www.bramptonguardian.com/news/article/661746--sikh-wants-kirpans-banned The protesters were obviously blind to the deep dug hole that awaited them.
  21. The damage is Done. I dont think it will get banned and i hope i am not wrong.
  22. why do we care? Did You know ? The first war between Sikhs and mughals was over a hunted hawk. Sikhs killed prey claimed by Mughals and refused to part with it. This resulted in first Sikh Mughal War, which was won by Sikhs. What will you do now?
  23. Banda Bahadur was tortured and killed along with 700 of his soldiers. The Mughal court offered to let them live if they accepted Islam but all chose death instead. Among the 700 was a very young man, his mother approached the qazi and told him he was not a Sikh to save his life. The young boy told the officers his mother was lying and that he was a Sikh. He was beheaded on refusing to convert. Banda Bahadur was the last to be executed. His son, who was only nine months old, was placed in his lap. Banda was ordered to kill the child with his own hand. On refusal of Banda, the jalaad took the child and with sharp dagger tore open his chest. He took out the childs beating heart and tried to put it in Bandas mouth. Bandas flesh was torn by using hot rods from his body. Then his tounge was cut out by pulling it with sharp weapon. Next his fingers were cut off. Then his hands and feet. His eyes were pulled out from eye sockets with a knife. Finally his head was cut off and his mutilated body parts were thrown outside city for dogs to feed on. Not once Banda refused to turn his back on his Guru and faith. And all the Sikhs who had escaped death by abandoning Banda labelled him a traitor to Ideals of Guru after his death. Sikhs had to pay with pools of blood for a hundered years to return to power in Punjab, the foundation of which was laid by Banda. And he was never mentioned with respect again by Sikhs. Until Hindus started claiming Banda was not a Sikh but a Hindu Sadhu.
