I agree with zoltansingh thati it was good that bhai Ranjit Singh ji Dhadrianwale did not take part in elections and spoke against sant samaj's decision to take part in elections. Firstly they hired Ranjit Singh Rana, I remember on shows for Sikh Channel he always shut down anybody that spoke against Badal. Now Ranjit Singh Rana is the main presenter of sangat tv. Ranjit Singh also does shows with Balihar Singh Ramewal who is a supporter of Badal. Sangat tv support SGPC and Akal Takht, I cant believe they actually flew in the Jathdar who is a supporter of Badal to make a speech. Why didn't they invite him on the channel and ask him any questions? Sikh channel have asked many times for Jathedar to come on their channel, they even went to Derby gurdwara to try and get an interview with. They basically had to chase Singh Sahib around to get an interview, yet sangat tv can get singh sahib to fly in from india to make a speech. Sangat tv will obviously be biased in favour of current regime of Badal, Makkar and Akal Takht. Why are Sangat tv behaving in this manner? I can't believe that Akal Takht Jathedar flew to UK to make speech on channel. They should be visiting family of Shaheeds.They should be providing assistance to these families and doing as much parchar in Panjab as possible. At least Sikh Channel will question Singh Sahib, SGPC and Badal, how will Sangat tv do this, they are on the side of current leaders.

Sangat tv starting this campaign against Sikh Chanel was definitely wrong, I can't believe some people are actually supporting Sangat tv on this issue. A lot of people are blaming conservatives for cutting back in spending, raising fees and whatnot. People on the left are saying we should maintain spending, not cut back so much on services etc. In my opinion, we should only spend money that we know that we will be able to pay back and not be overburdened with debt. I have to say I am on the right on this particular issue. The government will have to cut back on spending drastically and maybe raise taxes. For me, we should take the pain now rather than kick the can down the road making the situation even worse. Still many major economies such as the US have not even begun cutting back on a serious level. Governments and people (credit cards, loans etc) have spent money over the years which they never really had and built up massive debts. This was irresponsible and now it seems the whole world will have to pay the price. Bar India and China, major economies will have to go thorugh the process of deleveraging (cutting back), people will have to make to with less. People have to realise that the government is bust. The future will only get harder in economic terms, however as Gursikhs we do not love maya, this world is just temporary, we should meditate on Naam and Gurbani which is the true eternal wealth. The main problem is that to get to the uppermost postions, Jathedar of SGPC of Akal Takht you have be aligned with Akal Dal which is not right. Jathedari should be given on merit, Jathedar of Akal Takht should be of the highest character and selected by the panth, not politicians. Im totally on the side of Sikh Channel. Main problem with Sangat TV is their support for Badal. How can they than stand with poticians of Badal! This traitor has caused so much damage to the panth. I'm dissappointed in Sedgley St Gurdwara for organising a program where politicians from Badals part were praised. The panth will never get Khalistan, freedom, justice with Badal. Simple fact. Yesterday there was good a discussion show on Sikh Channel where youth stated that Jathebandis had been told in advance including Sikh Federation. Why has Sangat tv only bought up the issue now. What has it got do with them? They started this fight for no reason. If Sikhs want to show their pride for Dastar let them. Thanks admin ji for making this sticky. Astral ji we should be looking for solutions we know that congress and Akal Dal Badal are corrupt. What can be done to get good Gursikhs inside the SGPC. I know this forum will not make much of a difference its more for awareness. Amarinder Singh is corrupt just like Badal. Thats the problem the two main candidates, the parties with most power and money, Congress and Badal, are corrupt. We need to provide more support to smaller parties which have genuine love towards Sikhi and are interested in parchar of Sikhi. Sikhchannels have been poor in regards to coverage and discussion shows on SGPC elections.

I have noticed that many Sikhs do not read books and have little knowledge of Gurmat concepts such as mukhti, Sachkhand, naam, simran.............. It is vital that Sikhs read as much Gurmat related literature as possible. Those that are serious about Sikhi will read Gurbani, arths (meanings), books as much as they can. Many Sikhs chakk amrit and then just do minimum paath and thats it. Those that want to make progress will try to learn as much as possible from Gurbani, Sangat and Gurmat Books. Its important that we make an effort by ourselves to attain knowledge not just rely on others, there is really no excuse now with sites such as srigranth.org and search gurbani.com. I respect Sant Waryam Singh ji very much and it would be beneficial to learn from them. I personally am more inclined towards bhai Randhir Singh ji's books. Bhai sahib has explained concepts such as dasam duar, 5 khands of Jap ji, Naam, Simran and many other concepts in his books. Its unfortunate that Sikhs are not reading as much as they should be. Beginner ji! This path of Gurmat is not easy. Its not that simple that you can do x amount of paaths and you can 'reach GOD', never! Its not that simple. First of all we need to understand what is reaching GOD, what is mukhti (release,salvation) and what is SachKhand in relation to Gurmat then we can start walking the path, nevermind reaching GOD. There is a difference of opinion on what SachKhand is. Some Mahaprakhs say that it an avastha (state) that we reach other Mahapurakhs say that it an actual Realm where Bhagats live and reside. I am in agreement with the latter. Whatever SachKhand is it is extremely hard to reach. I would reccommend doing sangat of Gursikhs in your local area as much as possible. Just visiting a Sant does will not be enough. You have to do sangat of Gursikhs as well. If you want to have sangat of Sants then the best way is to do sangat of Gursikhs and do Kirtan and Paath together. Gursikhs that live according to bachans of Guru ji are sants, mahapurakhs, sadhu's. There are many Gurmukhs who have advanced to high stages but they keep it gupt (secret). There are Mahapurakhs living right here in the UK, just keeping doing sangat of Sikhs as much as you can and you will find them. Start slowly with a few paaths and progress slowly. You must first try to get you mann under control first and concentrate on the dhuni (sound) of Gurbani and Naam. Their is so much information available. I would highly recommend you to read 'jail chittian' by bhai sahib bhai Randhir Singh ji. In this great book, bhai sahib describes his own journey towards GOD. It is available in English and Panjabi. I'm suprised at the lack of posts regarding the SGPC elections scheduled for September 18 Lets make this topic a sticky and post any news updates or info regarding the elections. These elections I think only take place every 4 years. These elections are very important, the SGPC represents the highest auhtority nest to the Akal Takht. They have a budget of Rs.580 crore. they have the great responsibilyt to utilize these funds effectively. The upcoming elections will decide who gets a place inside the SGPC like an MP. Currently it seems that Parkash Singh Badal current Chief Minister of Panjab will win as usual. This will be very bad for the panth as he is widely regarded as anti-panthic. The only legitimate options Simranjit Singh Maan and Daljit Singh Bittu will not get enough votes to win. It was good to hear that bhai Ranjit Singh in his Willenhall diwan spoke about Sant Samaj members entering politics, this was good to hear. I wonder if bhai Ranjit Singh is part of Sant Samaj anymore, or has he left now? Just saw PTC News (Badal News) and Harnam Singh Dhumma was speaking on same stage as Badal. This was dissapointing to see. I hope Maan and Bittu at least get some votes to make difference inside SGPC. If SGPC had good members recent beadbi, dastar issues would have been taken care of more effectively. Its dissapointing that 'Sikhs' in Panjab would rather give their votes to Congress or Badal for SGPC seats, this is ridiculous! Its well known that certain parties distribute drugs and liqour to get votes, shame on them! How can those that distribute lioqour and drugs represent Sikhs at the highest committee of Sikhs! I think it is better just to use internet rather than putting up pictures of Gursikhs. I feel that it is better just to do kamai of Bani and listen to katha/kirtan. We do pooja/worhsip of Gurbani and Naam. Also I feel that bhai Sant Singh Maskeen ji would be more pleased that you listened to his katha, read his books and most of all increased your simran and paath rather than hanging his picture up. Maskeen ji remained a humble Gursikh all his life, he was never interested in promoting himself. He was just interested in doing parchar through katha and bought countless towards Guru Sahib. Internet is always available to us when we require darshan of Gurmukhs that have left this earth. Ask yourself, would bhai sahib be more pleased if you did extra paath and simran or would they be more pleased if you hung up a picture of them? The answer is obvious.
