  1. SIMPLE STEPS TO HAPPINESS SHUKRANA (Be thankful to Wahiguru at all times) MUSKURANA (Keep a smiling attitude/Tera bhana meetha laagay) KISSI KA DIL NA DHUKHANA (Never hurt anybody´s heart/feelings) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Bro, that is the beauty of Gurbani, it awakens us from our slumber, in which we are so deeply engrossed. It awakens us, from the darkness of"koor maya" into the Light of Satnam, into the Jot of wahiguru Akal Purukh. It is just like, a blind person´s sight is restored, he is told to slowly open his eyes, for maybe after being so long into darkness, the light may be sizzling in the begining, but as he slowly open his eyes, he gradually gets used to it, and then his sight functions fully, and sees what he has been missing all this time. In a similar way, when we go through the Bani with attention, not as a parrot, but just as thirsty person wants water... If we love the Bani, and sip each "boond of the Amrit" contained in it, then through His kirpa and our devotion and love at His Lotus Feet, we also, get detached from the mayavee creation, not by force, but in a natural manner with ease. Then the more we dedicate ourselves to the Bani, the more and more we become bold, wise and fearless, for we start moving towards the Jot of Nam, of Satnam, of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Then only, ultimately comes a time in the life of each sikh, where only he or she, and our beloved Wahiguru Akal Purukh exist. That is the only purpose of Guru Jee, our merging and being one with Him, through His bakshish, and our poor kachee bhakti, though. Sat Sree Akal.
  3. An Empty Boat A monk decides to meditate alone, away from his monastery. He takes his boat out to the middle of the lake, moors it there, closes his eyes and begins his meditation. After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly feels the bump of another boat colliding with his own. With his eyes still closed, he senses his anger rising, and by the time he opens his eyes, he is ready to scream at the boatman who dared disturb his meditation. But when he opens his eyes, he sees it’s an empty boat that had probably got untethered and floated to the middle of the lake. At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization, and understands that the anger is within him; it merely needs the bump of an external object to provoke it out of him. From then on, whenever he comes across someone who irritates him or provokes him to anger, he reminds himself, “The other person is merely an empty boat. The anger is within me.” Take time for introspection & search for answer:
  4. Brother, if we must do any jaap. whether 125000 times, or whether 125000 x 125000, or whether infinite times; why not faithfully follow Guru Jee´s teachings, the highest and infinite fountain of gyan tat budh. They say: Jan Nanak kou Guru ehe mat dheenee, Jap man SATNAM, sadaa SATNAM, nit dhiaeeyeh Purakh Niranjana. At other place, they say: Saas saas simroh Gobind I think the Bani can not be more simple and clear. Sat Sree Akal.
  5. Brother I have tried hard to figure out what actually is your real problem...also I have tried my best along with the rest of the valuable members of this forum to cheer you up, but again and again you return to your start point in trying & planning to suicide. What the hell is there which troublles you that much taht you pay no heed to our words and continue with your obstination attitude of suiciding. You see, you have treated so badly (I think so) that you have turn out a coward, and easily thinks of suiciding... Many a times, though we humans are supposed to be more intelligent than animals and other lower species, but the fact is we are dumb. Just take any example of creatures, while being chased by their depredators eaters, even then in such terrible and pitiful situations, they run to save their lives . And on the other hand, we foolish humans, just because somebody abuses us, hates us, or keep bullying us, we turn into cowards and out of fear and anxiety, run into depression, and out for suicide...so silly. Pull up your courage, and give back in return what they deserve ...but do not be a docile sufferer, for the more you tolerate, the more they will piss on you. If you are a sikh, you must know that your present life condition is based on your past karam. Talk to your mom and uncle lovingly, that, you have not chosen to be what you are now in this present life, and it is by Wahiguru´s governing laws of Nature, that you are born in this your family, nothing is in your hands neither in theirs, so though you may not be their ideal, but nevertheless, you are a respected human being, thus let all together fulfill your karam among yourselves, not with hatred, but with a sense of respect care and dignity as human beings. By now you may have noticed, how so many members care for your recovery, to be a healthy normal person, whether physically or psicologically, so Singh Jee, take advantage to recover, and the first step is, start loving and respecting yourself just as you are. Live for yourself, live for Guru Jee, and to the hell the rest of the world, whosoever tries to belittle you, as i said yesterday, they are not worthy for your attention to the extent that you want to suicide. Do not be stupid, enough of it! Then too, just tell me, if you kill yourself, where do you think you will you go? To heaven? For as you said, you want to die once only, by suiciding.... Ha ha ha, what rubbish. That can never be possible, for if you suicide, you will sure turn into the wheel of chaurasee, where you can be born as a cow, the lions or tigers will try to kill you and eat you... or be a fish, then, men will trap you, or a bigger fish will eat you , and so on with the rest of species, so you see, you will be constantly running out of fear and anguish, to save your life . So brother, if you have even just 2 cents of sense, remove the idea of suiciding. How can you be so blind, that by suiciding once, you firmly move into an endless wheel of births and deaths, with a lot of fear and pain, and there you will not even have that much sense, that you will not even be possible to pray and do the bhakti of prem, of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. If you really want to die once, then brother dye yourself with His bhakti, so that He fills you with His kirpa, and pulls you out of this maha bhavsagar, then brother, you can proudly say, it will be your last life and death, for it is ony when merges into Him, we do not born nor die, we become immortal in Him, not by any otherwise. So brother, once again do not be foolish, use your common sense, be grateful to Wahiguru for blessing you with this human body, in order to do His bhakti, and break your ties with the endless cycle of births and deaths, for once and forever. Suiciding does not mean freedom from lfe and death, rather perpetuating yourself in contnuing dying countless times with pain and suffering. Living in His bhaana, doing His bhakti with His kirpa, is assuring yourself, to not be born anymore nor die ever again. So be wise, use your present life within the circumstances where mother Nature has kept you, be gratefull to Him with each step, with each breath : Dhan Wahiguru, dhan wahiguru, shukur Wahiguru, shukur Wahiguru . Then see, how He ferries you across from this valley of pain and suffering, towards your true home, His home, the land of joy, bliss, and eternal peace. Dhan Sree Wahiguru. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.
  6. Contact and connection It was April 2009. I was returning from Delhi by flight with a monk of the RamaKrishna Mission sitting next to me and a journalist from the US sitting on the third seat . The journalist started interviewing the monk as planned earlier. Journalist - Sir , in your last lecture, you told us about Jogajog ( contact ) & Sanjog (connection ). It's really confusing. Can you explain ? The Monk smiled and apparently deviating from the question asked the journalist:Are you from New York? Journalist - Yeh... Monk - Who are there at home ? The Journalist felt that the Monk was trying to avoid answering his question since this was a very personal and unwarranted question. Yet the journalist said: "Mother has expired. Father is there. Three brothers and one sister. All married..." The Monk, with a smile on his face, asked again: - "Do you talk to your father?" The journalist looked visibly annoyed... The Monk - "When did you talk to him last?" The journalist, supressing his annoyance said: "May be a month ago." The Monk: "Do you brothers and sisters meet often ? When did you meet last as a family gathering?" At this point, I saw sweat on the forehead ok the journalist. I wondered who was conducting the interview, the Monk or the Journalist. It seemed that the Monk was interviewing the Journalist. With a sigh , the Journalist said: "We met last at Christmas two years ago." The Monk: " How many days did you all stay together ?" The Journalist ( wiping the sweat on his brow) said : "Three days..." Monk: "How much time did you spend with your Father, sitting right beside him ?" I saw the journalist looking perplexed and embarassed and scribbling something on a paper... The Monk: "Did you have breakfast, lunch or dinner together ? Did you ask how he was? Did you ask how his days are passing after your mother's death ?" I saw drops of tears coming out from the eyes of the journalist. The Monk held the hand of the journalist and said: "Don't be embrassed, upset or sad. I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly... But this is basically the answer to your question about "contact and connection ( jogajog and Sanjog)". You have 'contact' with your father but you don't have 'connection' with him. You are not connected to him. Connection is between heart and heart... sitting together , sharing meals and caring for each other ; touching , shaking hands, having eye contact, spending some time together...You brothers and sisters have 'contact' but you have no 'connection' with each other...." The journalist wiped his eyes and said : "Thanks for teaching me a fine and unforgettable lesson" This is the reality today. Whether at home or in the society everybody has lots of contacts but there is no connection. No communication... . Everybody is in his or her own world. Let us not maintain just "contacts" but let us remain "connected" ; caring , sharing and spending time with all our dear ones.
  7. Brother there are many lost souls, but what is important is that we listen to Guru Jee and follow their teachings. Amrit is most important, for as A-mrit means, it is something which makes the real difference A stand for beyond and mrit means mrityu or death, Amrit means, that Gurparsad, which takes us from our present mortal state, to the one of immortality, by uniting us with the only One ajoonee immortal, which is Wahiguru Akal Purukh. On the other side, having good intentions and heart, or say doing good karmas, is nothing but keeping us bound in the mayvee creation, with the only difference, that we shall be in better envoirements, but that does not guarantee, we shall do His bhakti. So lt us not pay attention to the bakwaas of the manmukhs, but, only to Guru Jee. Stay blessed. Sat Srre Akal.
  8. Why pay attention to those whom you think do not like you to be here, just look at how many brothers and sisters want you to stay and get well soon. There are several types of people, you know what, there are some here also, who hate to see me here, but then, it is their problem, I love this website, and I will stay as long I wish to stay.... So brother forget these fools, they are not worthy of your attention, just pay attention at least to Wahiguru, He alone deserves our love, care and devotion. Live for Him, and then whenever it is your time to go, you will not go into the chaurasee, but to His Lotus Feet. It is His Infinite love for all of us, that He has bestowed human form on us, to cut our load of karmas, do His bhakti and merge in Him. So brothers, if you suicide, it would be an act of ungratefullness towards Him, and unjsutice on yourself. Be brave and face all those who trouble and belittle you, what are u afraid of? They shall all leave you in peace, just show yourself with dignity. Stay blesssed. Sat Sree Akal. *Found this following inspirational video...j please watch it carefully, and relax, absolutely nobody is more importan than you for yourself.
  9. If I have physical relations before getting married does it still count as a kurhet? It is definetely bujjar kurhet, whether before, during, or after marriage, having physical relations with other than one´s spouse only. It is quite evident that as per the present picture of the world in general, "kaam" is viewed as something attractive and harmless. It is the most powerful vikar through which even devtays, rishis, have fallen due to its influence on them. It is not easy to stay away from its tentacles, as at all levels in our daily lives, we see it moving around us, in scenes, such as newspapers, jokes, conversations, magazines, televison, films, messages, etc. But if we are true sikhs, we should be so much absorbed in His bhakti/simran/Gurbani/keertan, katha, paath, at all times, that this maya, and her servants vikars, dare not come near us. Ekas(Wahiguru) bin sabh dandh hae. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.
  10. A lovely conversation between God and soul God said: tell me O Soul what is bothering you ? A prayer which is not answered on time, or you feel I don't listen to you ? I listen to each and every prayer you put in front of me . I watch everything you do . I know what you are going through and what is going on in your mind .I am worried for you . Some blessings are delayed but never go unanswered . I only give you what you need at this point in time, not what you want. You have to trust me , you must remain calm in adverse situations ,hold onto your faith that you have on me . Don't rush to the conclusions that I didn't hear what you say . Talk to me , share every single thing with me as you share with your friends & family. They are there till the time you have this life , they can support you but I am the one who brought you and will take you to the end . My love for you is infinite and endless. Just wait patiently for the bad time to get over . Remember, this too shall pass ....
  11. Salt -VS- Rice If you were to cook 3 cups of rice, would you add 3 cups of salt to it? Certainly not! So, in every preparation of rice, the rice always outnumbers the salt, yet a little salt makes a huge difference/impact in the overall outcome. In the room in which you currently are, look up at the ceiling... What is the size of the bulb compared to the size of the room? It is probably a ratio of 1:5000. Yet, darkness flees the entire space once the small bulb is flipped on. If I am the salt of the earth, and the light of the world, then "little me" has the ability to make big things happen. Sometimes, because we feel outnumbered or overwhelmed at the sheer magnitude of evil or wrong-doers, we then choose powerlessness, and decide to go with the flow, not standing up for what we believe is right. Little doesn't mean insignificant. You are significant. Your presence should make a BIG difference. Stop waiting to be on the side of the majority. They may be the majority, but they are the trivial majority, and you are the impactful minority. They are the rice of the world, and you are the salt of the world. They are the room, and you are the light. Make your influence felt! Remember: You are the world's seasoning, to make it tolerable. Worth pondering!

    Bandagi

Gurbani beautifully tells us : ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੂ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥ Kar Bandhae Thoo Bandhagee Jichar Ghatt Mehi Saahu ||3|| करि बंदे तू बंदगी जिचरु घट महि साहु ॥३॥ O human being, meditate on the Lord, as long as there is breath in your body. ||3|| kari bandē tū bandgī jicru ghaṭ mahi sāhu ॥3॥ *This means, to shift our devotion from mere words and emotions, into action, by meditating on Him, Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal.
  13. Welcome Shaunji. Thanks for starting and sharing this beautful topic. Seva is most needed to become better human beings, but sewa as per teachings has to be "nishkam", means selfeless and without any expectations or recognitions, other than to be helpful to others, to the best of our ability, this attitue gets us nearer to the divine, irrespective of caste, color, class, creed, gender or nationalities. Mostly think, that to do seva, is only accomplished if done at a particular place of worship, though that idea is not wrong, for that is also seva, but let us not limit ourselves of being real human beings, from cultivating and developing this blessed attitude towards other beings. That much can be added also, if we do not become good human biengs, no true spirituality can be ever achieved, thus we shall remain far from our goal in merging and becoming one with that Primal, Changeless and Eternal Truth, which our Guru Sahiban, right from the begining have called it as Sat Nam. That supraconsciouss power Sat Nam, is an Infinite Ocean of bliss, love and mercy, and unless we implement these qualities within ourselves for others, we can not move further even an inch into spirituality. For hatred, anger, ego, wickedness, are nothing but negative huge thick barriers which we create ourselves, between us and Him, thus get distanced away from Him. In Sikhee, though all sevas are welcomed, the highest and most valuable is when we do seva of Guru Jee. And what is that seva? It is when we devote ourselves to Him, through keertan, katha, Nam japna, for then, in that time being, we forget being self centered, means egoistic, and we imbue our mind and heart with the praises and positive vibes which emanate from that Sat Nam, or as most of us call it Wahiguru Akal Purukh , thus we start dyeing ourselves with the color of His virtues and qualities, which if we keep practicing regularly, one day with His Grace, we shall blend and merge in Him. In the end, that is the real purpose of Sikhee. So seva, whether of Wahiguru, or of any other beings in need, has no side effects, but is the start point of one day fulfilling our goal, which is none other than to become one with Him. Stay blessed. Sat Sree Akal.
