  1. In continuation with the verse mentioned above by brother singhbj singh: Jo Tudh Bhavay Nanaka, saee gal changee. That what pleases Nanak, is the right thing. Sat Sree Akal
  2. True Gurus, Bhagat Janas, Sadh Janas, will never ever tell anyone to worship them, because that will be brahamanvadee. More over, it will be going against Gurmat, as the Bani says: Jin Har japeeya se Har hoeeya. Prabh kay Simran, garb na baseh. You see, all devotion, bhakti, has only one purpose, and that is about our union with Wahiguru, who is within us. Outside is all maya. And the intention of the true Guru, is to make us conscious of that reality within us, which is called Naam, Shabad, Amrit Bani, Sachee Bani ... and through the jugtee of meditation or Simran, we wash our karmas, sanskaras, vikaars...become pure paviter, and allow the Shabad Guru, to take our surtees to Sach Khand. That is when the Bani says: Baah pakad kar Gur kadeeya. This Guru, is not the physical Guru, who has to discard His body one day, but the Bani refers to the internal and permanent Shabad Guru. Shabad is Wahiguru, and He Himself, is also the Guru, the Aad Guru. So in the end, it is all Wahiguru, though He comes to our level to make us understand, the higher and subtle truths(Gurparsad), which otherwise we manmukhs could never ever think about, thus use it for our spiritual evolution and become one with Wahiguru. Sat Sree Akal.
  3. You see, though Wahiguru is present and manifested in all these Sants, Bhagats, Guru Sahibans, the thing is, one needs not to worship them, neither they will ever tell you to worship them. They will tell you, Wahiguru, Guru Jee, is much present in you also. Do His bhakti, through Naam Simran, subdue your ego, haume, your mind, with this jugtee...wash your karmas with this Amrit of Naam, thus become inmaculate and board the jahaaz of Naam then, and let this Shabad Guru, take you to the lap of Wahiguru. This is the way set down by Wahiguru Himself, to get us back to Him. There are no other short cuts, neither any earthly manifestation of Him, can change this Hukum; because that is not their role. Their role is to sing His apaar Mahima, and infuse His love in us, so that we may do His Bhakti as per His Hukum, for our jeevan mukti and thus get reunited with Him. Sat Sree Akal.
  4. I do not know other gurus so much... But for me, our Guru Sahibans were the embodiment of Akal Purukh. But we must bear in mind also, their physical body is not the Guru, as it changes with time and one day the mortal body of the 5 tattwas is left in this earthly plane, where they got that particular body. So, it is the Jot of Wahiguru which permeates each pore of their being, while they are among us. Refering to this matter, the Bani tells us: Har jee baseh Sadh kay hirday. Har jee baseh Sadh kee rasna. It is because of this, that even today after 500 years, they are so lovely and so adorable to us Sat Sree Akal .
  5. While with any worldly dressing colours, however beautiful, we shall remain empty of His glance of mercy, by having our bucket upside down. But, if we dye in His Naam, we will do justice to the following golden words : “Atam ras je janhi, so hai khalis dev. He who has experienced self-realisation is the exalted Khalsa. Thus only can be possible this high avastha: 'Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khaas'. Sat Sree Akal. P:S: we maybe physically khalsas also, which is a layer , a covering, on our atmaa; but Guru Sahibans, refer to the surtee, the jeev Atma as real khalsa, which is also part and parcel of Wahiguru in essence.
  6. Brother Jacfsing2, I am also quite sure about what the OP asked about, but you see, after all Gurbani is far superior to anything. While we manmukhs, wander and get lost on outer and futile aspects, with arguments, disputes, discussions... thus we miss the goal of Gurmat, which is importan,t out of our sights. So it is important, even I would say very very important, to get again and again back to Gurbani, to refoucs our objective of life even as khalsas, which is none other than Wahiguru Akal Purukh. What so important is the history, if we fail at the base of Sikhee or Gurmat, which is to get detached from all outer aspects, which is nothing more than Maya, and get attached our surtees to the only one changeless reality : Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Brother, I respect all opinions, as everyone is free to do what he/she thinks best, but I would not forgive myself, though it may be, creating problems for me, and that is, that as a heavy sinner gursikh myself, if I saw something, and did nothing to remind myself and my sikh brothers and sisters, of the supreme importance of Wahiguru, above any mayavee aspects. Ruhaniyat or spirituality as our goals, can only be obtained by His Gurparsad, or call it Grace, and that also, only by His Saacha Naao. The rest is all paraphernalia, which comes under the domain of Parlay (Dissolution). While, with the jahaaz of His Naam, according to Gurmat, we shall sail beyond any Parlays...in the lap of Akal Purukh. It is not that important, how others view us, it is important how we present ourselves to Wahiguru. If we dye ourselves in the colour of His Simran, He will get attracted towards us, and run to embrace us. This is what is important, to please Wahiguru. Everything else is secondary, we may do it or not do it; it is entirely upon us, as long as we do not hurt anybody in anyway, as any historical record as per the title of this very thread, is quite compatible with the dyeing of ourselves with His Naam, which in the end, is most important for us. Sat Sree Akal.
  7. If there is any colour which denotes us as khalsas, that is the colour we get dyed in, when we do the simran of His Naam. Then this colour never ever fades from the soul, and we get merged our surtees in Wahiguru Akal Purukh. It is our soul which has to dye in the colour of His Name, all other colours shall end with our bodies in the crematory grounds. What use is of any colours, if, our minds or hearts are impure. The only way to wash ourselves and get dyed with His Naam, is His simran, then the filth accumulated since countless lives shall be washed away. "Prabh ka Simran, maan kee mael jaae" "Ekas bin, sabh dandh hae". Sat Sree Akal.
  8. Simran Pen Jee Just excellent, the piece of mahima, of Wahiguru Akal Purukh above. Sat Sree Akal.
  9. Some people say that only halal (meat prepared in the Islamic way of slitting the animals throat) can’t be eaten. Guru Granth Sahib jee forbids us to eat halal, so how can Guru Granth Sahib possibly say its OK to eat jhatka (meat prepared by killing the animal with one swift strike)? A Sikh talks of Guru and listens to Guru. A person who doesn’t listen to Guru or talk of Guru is not a Sikh. People say, “But I read in a book that it is OK to eat meat.” Are they going to believe a book or their Guru? Like in front of the Sun all other lights fade away into insignificance. God’s Word, bani, has power that transforms water into amrit. Whether a man strangles someone slowly to death, or shoots the victim quickly, he is sentenced for murder, regardless of how the killing was done. It makes no difference how you kill the animal, halal or jhatka, you’ll get the same punishment at the end. The holy Hindus used to eat meat, Bhagat Kabir jee asked, “If they are the Saints then who are the butchers?” Have you ever meditated on Bentee Chaupee? People say Guru Gobind Singh jee ate meat. But our Guru was the ocean of mercy, read what he writes in Bentee Chaupee: “Cheetee te kanchan asthoola, sabh par kirpa drisat kar phoola… From the smallest insect to the biggest elephant, God’s throws his glance of blessing on all, and gets pleasure by doing so.” God’s mercy is on all creatures from the tiniest ant to the huge elephant. If Guru Gobind Singh jee had written, “Your mercy is not upon the goat, chicken and lamb then it would be OK to eat them. But he didn’t. Guru jee wrote God’s mercy is upon ALL creatures.” baba Maan Singh Sat Sree Akal P.S: I do not know, who this Baba is, but reading this paragraph above from his writings, I liked it, and felt like sharing it with the sangat here.
  10. Sikhni Pen Jee, I agree with with your post above, and though I know it is quite difficult, but as far as possible we should avoid deviating from Gurbani. The Bani says: Sach Khand vaseh Nirankar. So if that Wahiguru Nirankar is the only reality existing there in Sach Khand, how can we think we shall we see this, that , or those beings around/ with Him? We want to go to Sach Khand to merge and become one with Him, not to retain our own petty individual personality, which is due to the mind. Just as drop of water poured into the Ocean, becomes one with the Ocean... The teachings of our beloved Guru Sahibans, have only one purpose, and that is to become one with Him, such is the beauty and value of Gurbani. There in Sach Khand, only He exists. There is no mind or any other entity. Only He, Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal.
  11. Continuing a little bit with the pure paviter Bani of Sree Guru Ram Das Maharaj, in Raag Suhi as seen above. The next question that which arises in our minds after reading the line above is, if meditating on His Name is the only way to achieve mukti from the wheel of births and deaths, and also is so much emphasized by Guru Sahibans in the Bani, why, most of the people prefer to do so many other things according to their understanding as per how our Dharam is. That also, when the amritful words of our Guru Sahibans are so clear and simple ... Well, to this question, Guru Jee beautifully says: They alone worship and adore the Lord deep within, who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny from the very beginning of time. He says, it is all by His Hukum. Because, only they meditate on His sweet Name, on whose forehead, He has written so. The rest will worship devis, devtays, past beings, and engage in all external activities or rituals. You see, Guru Jee´s Bani has no second meanings, their teachings are straight and forward; it is our corrupted and weak minds, which interpret the Bani wrongly. Mostly because, it is that what we have seen the majority do, so we take it for granted to be true, without taking a breath to sit down, and see the amazing real sweetness and beauty of the truths in the Bani, beyond any description ... You see, He clearly says above : They alone worship and adore the Lord deep within. These are clear instructions as per how the devoton should be done,or of what it should consist. He says, this devotion, is of meditating on His Name, that also, not at a particular outer place, or in a collectively gathering ..... but rather at a place of solitude and solace, which quite well could be our own very house, because it is within us where we have to go / enter. Because if it is deep within ourselves, why should others surround us? They may distract our attention from our Bhakti. And if I am to go within myself, and thus be unconsciouss of my outer surroundings, in order to be in the company of my Beloved Wahiguru, why should anyone know or see, my intimate relation with Him? You see, it maybe only one or two lines of the Bani, but they have depth in them, and are complete by themselves. No need for big discussions or debates. It is only by faith and to put the Bani into practice, for becoming one with the Divine Wahiguru within us. Such is the utmost beauty and value of the Bani of our Guru Sahibans. Sat Sree Akal.
They alone become liberated, who meditate on the Name of the Lord; they obtain the supreme status. In the lines above of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sree Guru Ram Das Maharaj, is revealed the secret for our jeevan mukti for once and ever, in simple and clear words for us manmukhs. He clearly says that, do whatever you may want as per terms of devotion, such as rituals, idol worship, etc, but nothing of that is of any avail to you; because only those wadbhagee jeevas get mukti/liberation, who mediatate on the name of the lord. Guru Jee´s wadeeayee has no limits, and on the other side our moorakhta also has no limits.... Sat Sree Akal.
  13. Taranjit jee, First of all you are not in the hell, do not be so negative. It is a pity, you are going through a difficut phase of your life, but, that is not because of Wahiguru. It is only because of your own past karmas, for which you have to settle accounts. To some you have to give, from some you have to receive. This earth is known aslo as karam bhoomee, where whatever seed you sow, that harvest you get. Suppose you sow chillies, you can not expect to reap apples. Can you? Then where does Wahiguru come in here this scene? One is free to plant the seeds one wants, but then according to laws of Nature, that is what you get only. How can we shamelessly ever blame Wahiguru? He did not force us to plant the chilly seeds. Then if we planted X seeds, it is just normal to get X harvest, isn´t it? You see, Wahiguru never forces anything on anybody. He gives us full freedom, so if we misuse that freedom, than naturally we have to pay for it. If you did phere around Guru Jee, and your husband left you, that is him being unfaithful by not fulfilling the vow one takes before Guru Jee at that time. Once again, how can you blame Guru Jee for it? Don´t you think you are being unfair to Him? You see, we people have up our owm minds of how Wahiguru is or should be, under the influence of agyanta and maanmat. We read the Bani like parrots, thus we do not mould our lives according to Gurmat, then too, we foolislhy keep our demands before Wahiguru, and expect Him to be like a Superman hero for us, to come in our times of need... What a shame.... We do not do His bhakti as we should, then too, instead of trying to stay in accordance as per laws of natue and endure our own created destiny by us, we cry and wail, why why why me ? Remember, our relation with Wahiguru is only on a spiritual basis, rest is all karam. Having said that, He is so merciful and loves you so much, that inspite of your karmas, sanskaras, sins, maanmat, etc... He has blessed you with human birth, (which even devis devtays can not get just like that), so that you may remove your haume, and do His Bhakti as per Gurmat, and cut all your chains from this mayavee creation, make yourself free totally, and place yourself at His Lotus Feet, and in this lies the welfare of all jeevas. So taranjit jee, instead to cry and complain, be grateful to Him at each step in your life, with each breath, do His Bhakti as per Gurmat, then see how the changes are taking in you, for your betterment, as then you open your heart for His unlimited Daya Meher... God bless you. Sat Sree Akal.
  14. Preet Jee, thinking in insulting Wahiguru, is as good as madness, nothing more than that. For example, some stupid person staying on the ground, says, I am annoyed with the clouds, I am going to throw them stones and hurt them. What do you think that will happen? First of all, the throwing of the stones to the clouds, will never reach them, then they will probably fall on that person and hurt him very much. In a similar way, Wahiguru or Parmatma, is beyond the reach of any evil attempt. Wahiguru does not get the least affected, of this or any other madness of anyone. He is not like us, that if insulted we have to wash our name, or even being revengeful, or full of resentment... Sorry jee, that is not the lakshan of Wahiguru. He loves, even those who do not believe in Him, or think of insulting Him as you have mentioned. He is an Ocean of love and mercy, He can never ever judge or punish anyone. He is always Dayalu and bakshanhaar. If He was not so, He would never be Akal Purukh. Maybe with devis, devtays, gods, godesses may happen all these petty things, and they may react ,,,, but our beloved Wahiguru, can never ever act so. Sat Sree Akal.
  15. Simran Pen Jee, please relax, we are all sinners, going in the same boat as spiritual seekers, we are all here to help each other, nobody is bigger, nobody is smaller. If ever there is anything big and perfect, that is Wahiguru Akal Purukh alone, and then His lovers also, that is why the Bani says: Gursikha kee har dhoor dee hum paapee bhee gat paaee. Sat Sree Akal.
  16. You are most welcome Simran Pen Jee. Well more than depth, I would say, some clarifictaions were needed, as Preet Pen Jee had made some observations. Any how, if someone willingly closes oneself, no matter what one may say, not a single penny will go inside that person. I am glad at least you understood. The 3 bodies on the soul, are, the physical one or the gross material body; then the subtler astral body, and then the causal one, the subtlest one. But subtler even than all this, is the soul, a drop of the Infinte samundar Wahiguru Akal Purukh, the source of everything, and when with the aid of Shabad or Nam, one cuts all these layers upon the soul, and washes the sins or karmas of countless lives, only then we become pure paviter, spotless, and become worthy with His Grace to merge in Him, never ever otherwise. It is then, when the Bani says : Nanak Naam jahaz hae, jin chareeya, se utareeya paar. But then we may ask, paar from where to where? From Brahm or mayavee creation(which consists of the gross, the astral and the causal realms, thus known also as triloki creation), to the Paarbrahm creation, means beyond the reach of mind, maya or Kal Purukh. From there on, the Jahaaz of Naam, takes the sikh soul, direct to the lap of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, our True Father. Wahiguru is happy beyond description, upon receiving back His beloved astrayed soul in the wheel of 84 . Once there in Sach Khand, the passenger soul, the charioter Naam, blend and become one with Wahiguru without any distinction. Such is the apaar mahima of Pyara Preetam Sachay Patshah Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal.
  17. Preet Jee, thanks for your observations, but let us have a look at them from a different point of view, and being objective as much as possible. Sat Sree Akal.
  18. Guptmem Jee, whatsoever you say, it is quite respectable and acceptable also. But you must bear one thing in mind, nobody is perfect nor that knowledgeable in all fields, despite they may reply in almost all topics. And that is all what being humans is about. We are normal people, with our ups and downs, like any other mortal on this earth. We do get sick, we laugh, we cry, we feel pain, and moreover in one word, we are full of virtues and vikars, some with more others with less. we may dress in a different way, but we have a mind like any other being which makes us dance with its tunes.... So you see, we are sikhs...we are not Gurmukhs, thus we are imperfect. And if we gather whether personally at some place, or like here on this website, so, this gathering is known as sangat, in a way, as sikhs being gathered here, we can ceratinly call this website: Sikh Sangat. There is nothing wrong in it. Other thing is, we as sikhs have a goal, which is Wahiguru Akal Purukh. And to reach and merge in Him, there is only one way, that is putting into practice, the essence of Gurmat, which many try to complicate, when our Guru sahibans, out of their infinte mercy, made it simple in one practical way, which is His Simran. And as I have stated it at different ocassions, it is as follows: Jin Har japeeya,se Har hoeeya. This is the essence of Gurmat in short. Though I am very much aware, that many do not like to hear or read this, as it does not telly with their picture of sikhee in their minds. I will never say, I am totally right, as again, this is what I have understood through my different phases as a sikh student, thus I share with anyone freely here on this website, or, anywhere I get a chance to interact with my sikh sisters and brothers. I have no hard or fast rules, I am quite open and accept different people and their beleifs, be they from any dharam or walk of life. Everyone deserves respect, as long as, behaves as normal human beings, this means, not to harm anyone by speech, action or thought, and being helpful. As everyone comes with his/her own chalked destiny. If we can hardly change ourselves, how come can we change others? The thing is, do not impose anything on anyone, be natural, be truthful, be an example of what you say, and if the other person likes and feels what you say, surely, they will accept it and slowly change themselves. But do not get me wrong, the change is not for swarth or wordly side; but for the parmarth or spiritual path. As said, sikhee, is not about discussions or debates, it is about putting into practice Gurmat, which will bring automatic changes in us for betterment as human beings, and gradually we shall start getting attracted and closer and closer towards Wahiguru .... Just by doing this or going there, we do not get closer to Wahiguru, thus, even if we call ourselves sikhs, it is only our delusion, betterment can never take place in us. It is only by putting into practice the Hukum of our Guru Sahibans, we do become real sikhs first, and then we become gurmukhs, and after that only we become one with Wahiguru. That is it. Sat Sree Akal.
  19. There can be many replies to your question above, but to simplify it, I would say, just because one sees mad people around, that does not mean one should start acting and behaving like them .... By Wahiguru´s Grace, we have shame, we have respect, we are clean, and more over, we are men, in the true sense that we protect not only our women, but if the need arises, we protect the rest of the women also. Man is not only who is a man by gender, but, because he can protect the weaker ones, as a father, as a son, or as a brother.... and ultimately as a husband also. Sat Sree Akal. P.S: Respect women, otherwise one invites hell in one´s existence.

    Death

It is not only ageing which brings death. Can the science avoid earthquakes? Can the science avoid air plane crash? Can the science avoid maladies such as cancer? Can the science avoid murders? These are just a few questions to ask ourselves and see how petty and limited we humans are .... We make use of His already creation, and with the manipulation over some the already existing elements, not created or made by us, we start thinking big, that we too can do something of our own. If we just could not choose where to when to come, how can we have a free will for our departure or not? The only way to stop the cycle of births and deaths, can be possible, not by our maanmat, but by using His technique, His science... which we have learnt from our Guru Sahibans, through Gurmat. And that technique, is none other than his Simran. Prabh ka Simran, garb na baseh. Sat Sree Akal.
  21. Simran Pen Jee, it is 101 % right what you say, as it could never be otherwise. It is good you have brought this point forward, as it is somehow confusing in the sense you have stated. But I believe, when he says thinking on blessings, he means to say, to think (meditate) upon the source of all blessings, who is none other than Wahiguru for me, though for others it maybe devis, devtas, gods, godesses.... The thing is, different people seek blessings from different entities, but for us as sikhs, it is only from the Supreme Being Wahiguru Akal Purukh, to whom we should have in our minds per means of Bhajan bandagee, to get the bakshish, of His Charan Kamal kee Dhoor... Sat Sree Akal.
  22. I would say, he is a hindu philosopher. For some, he is a saint I do not know much about him, but I admit, that sometimes, I like his speech or expressions. I believe that goodness can exist in anyone, irrespective of caste, color or creed. You see, all beings have souls, and as such, souls have no color, form, nor size. Souls are related to Wahiguru, just as a drop is related to an ocean, or a ray to the Sun. If Wahiguru has no color, size, nor nationality, how come the mamulee souls have any of these limitations. Souls are free, just because in that particular body, it follows hindu, muslim, christian or sikh dharam, they do not loose their true spiritual identity. Once again, the soul in a particular body, is born in the U.K for example, and lives there; so Britain is the place of residence of that soul, but because of that, the soul does not become british. if someone is a policeman, then being a security officer, is that person´s job; but again the soul is free, it is not subject to that job, or place, or dharam. The soul is changeless. There are no good or bad souls, all souls are good, as they are particles of Him, who carry all the attributes present in Him. You see, we people tend to classify everything under our limited vision, and from there on our problems start. If anybody is bad, it is because of the mind. Just as any ordinary person under the effects of narcotics or alcohol, can do all sort of nonsense .... In a similar way, dirty, impure minds, with their bad karmas, make the souls suffer in the wheel births and deaths. But in any case, it is the mind who is dirty and petty. in a similar way, people in wrong company, dharmas, do wrong things, for which they shall have to pay for sure, but again, the souls are like passengers sitting in chariots, where the horses(minds) have become mad(under maya and vikars) and run here and there without any direction or control. We should never underestimate anyone, becuase of religion, color or caste, or even if some do not believe in Him, all carry His Jot, even if they are not conscious of it. It is a blessing upon us, that we have bee born in Sikh Dharam, and with the aid of Gurmat, we fairly do understand how all the creation works, and we are not fanatics, otherthing is, we firmly like and believe in our Guru Sahibans, the only manifestations of Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal.
  23. BLESSINGS Q: Have you ever wondered how come seeking blessings actually brings you good vibrations? You can sit anywhere and ask for blessings in your mind, and you will receive blessing. You may ask me how is that possible ? Tell me, how does Kama Vasana (lust) get aroused? Just by thinking such thoughts, isn't it?! Hormones are then secreted in excess in the body. How do you get angry? Just by thinking. You think about those who you are angry, and your body begins to show action of anger. How does hatred come? By thinking about others whom you dislike. How does fear come? By thinking. So, if by thinking, lust can come, anger can come, fear can come, hatred can come, then can blessing also not come just by thinking? Are blessings so ineffective, or do you think that you have to work so hard to get blessings? No! Not at all ! You don't need to do anything. Just by thinking you get divine blessings. You are divinely blessed !!!! *Sri Sri Ravi Shankar*:
  24. Many a times we are carried away by kaam without we being aware as fast as it attacks us. I have also seen, we are at sometimes aware of this malady. The solution to this is awareness, which can be be made stronger to an extent with practice. Because as i have said many a times, all vikaars, including this kaam, can only be subdued with His Grace, all other methods are transitory or let us say just an illusion .... So , the awareness is first with we becoming conscious of being dragged by kaam, we have a guilty sensation which invades us, feeling like we have done something which is not correct. So with practice, we have to become alert, for example just as when we know, we have been robbed by thieves at home several times. What do we do then, we see the time they enter usually, we pay more attention to the windows or doors, so that when they want to enter and steal again, we shall be waiting them with a baseball bat, and beat them. So next time they want to enter our house, they know, what will they get, if they dare to enter, because now the house owner is alert. In a similar way, when we see we are going to fall in kaam, we try to divert our attention to Simran for example, if not in mind, we may say it verbally louder until that kaam attack gets loose and fades away. It may not be easy at first, I am saying from personal experience as a teenager, or a young man then also, but it is gradually that with persistence, it can be fought bravely. Then too, never get in over confidence, that the battle is won, because it can attack when least expected . But we shall see by ourselves, that then, the frequency of these attacks get lesser and lesser with time, until, one day, with His apaar kirpa, we shall definetely win this paapee dusht kaam. And this method of facing bravely kaam, can also be applied to the rest of the vikaars. One more thing, His apaar kirpa, is not like that of a magic stick which is wavered, and we get it. No. Nothing like that. we would be fooling ourselves. His kirpa, can be only be got by pleasing Him. So the question is what to do, to please Him? According to the Bani, it is to repeat His holy Naam.... Then not He blesses us with his kirpa, but with regular practice of this His Bhakti, He Himself gives Himself to us. What else is then left to achieved? Nothing. For then, without any distinction, we have become one with Him. Sat Sree Akal.
