Request to mods to change the title to "shooting at Wisconsin Gurdwara (Sikh temple)" Please call it what it is

The shooters name was Wade Michael Page, an ex-Army man who was 40 years old who had ties to a white supremacy group.

It was the president who tackled him in the beginning. His brother said he just passed away, not 5 minutes ago. And all of us, including me, think that if something like this were to happen to us, we would be the first to rush the shooter, tackle him, whatever. But unless we are placed in that situation, we will never actually know what we will do. Also, the first people to see the shooter were 2 10 year olds. They saw him shoot someone in the parking lot, and they ran inside the gurdwara to tell everyone and got trapped inside

The only thing suspended in a state of emergency is habeas corpus. And they can declare curfew. The entire constitution cannot be suspended. Anyway, we already are in a limited state of emergency, and have been so since 9/11

There is no security at gurdwaras the same reason there is no security at mosques or churches or synagogues. No one expects places of worship to be attacked. We don't need to hire security. What we need to do is remember Guruji's words and arm ourselves. I've signed up for a firearm safety course. After that I'm going to buy a sidearm and take lessons. Then I'm going to get a concealed carry permit so if someone tries to do the same thing in my gurdwara, I'll be ready.

Exactly. When I first heard the news of a shooting in a Sikh temple, my first thought was that it was between committee memebers or something. The fact that I even thought of that just shows how out of hand everything has become. As another note, I know this is early to say, and some may say it is insensitive, but Guruji told us everything for a reason, and that includes us arming ourselves. We are forgetting everything guruji has told us Also, thank god for the police officer who took him down. He is expected to survive, and I really hope the gurdwara will present him with a siropa when he is recovered
