  1. u know what i noticed, sometimes we feel as if we dont have neone... but u know there is usually a person there that we speak with and tell them that we feel we dont have neone... i've done this a few times, then realized after that this person who is listening to me is such an amazing person, cus they are sitting there and being with me, listening to me saying that i have no one....when in reality here is this person..... there for me... sometimes we get so sad with what we dont have that we sometimes forget what it is that we have. its right there infront of us and we dont respect it, so instead of trying to focus on what we dont have, look at the ones that are there... the ones that arn't well.... they just arnt worth it...

  7. btw the kirtan was just amazing, the video katha of Bhai Parminder Singh Ji and the tribute was just ... .... it seemed like everyone in the sangat had a tear in their eye... it was amazing how the sangat got together to enjoy the kirtan. .... i can keep going on to try to explain it, but seems as if there are no words to describe the experience.... bhul chuk maaf Fateh Ji
  8. so who all was there? I still dont know people by face
  9. ji even if u were able to sign up for desiest, its very very hard to download stuff, im registered and i still have not been able to download some of the katha.... will try to find a site for u though.... Fateh Ji
  10. Happy Birthday Jiiiii hope u have a blast on this special day
  11. Thank you so much veerji for bringing this to everyone's attention. This has been such a big issue with the people in rexdale for the last little while. The plans for the new building, which is infront of a strip club, were designed at the same time as the funeral home. They have work going on the funeral home but the gurudwara sahib is still the same. It's sad, because again they show that money is more important. You would think that the most important thing is Guru ji's house is completed, however, its obvious that people are going to come to a gurudwara sahib even if its not complete, but u can only start making money from a funeral home until it is.... It is really sad... It is true that the committee are all family and are all related and are only in this for the money. we should support this new committee about trying to get the gurudwara sahib back to the sangat. bhul chuk maaf
  12. Also, why is it that our community just sit backs and watches all of this? why can we not do nething about this stuff? are these guys so high up? This has been confusing a lot of us the last little while... If people dont respect the person who is the jathedar of Akal Takhat, and they dont respect the leaders of the gurudwara committees or well ne other Sikh leaders, then how come these guys are still there?
  13. So is there anything we can do then? I mean if these leaders of the Sikh Panth dont even respect what the Panj Pyare say to them then who are the common people to them? I remember Bhai Ranjit Singh when he was the Jathedar, and even though I have not been into all these political things or anything, I remember that a lot of people were very happy with him. I heard his interview on the radio and he had some pretty good responses. Again, who does the sangat think would be a good choice as the jathedar?
  14. Could the Punj Pyare ask him to step down?

  16. how is the current jathedar chosen? and if we are to remove this guy, which i hope is done soon, who would people then like to have as their jathedar? There should be a system put in place on how a Jathedar is chosen. You have to give the christians credit on how they choose the next pope. Its not a small thing. that is their highest post, even the process of naming the next person and giving them the position is such a big deal. As for getting younger people, they just gonna give the seats to their sons or daughters or relatives... its like a family run thing from what i've heard... We really need new and fresh thinking young people to change things here. But is that even possible??
  17. Fateh Jio, There is something that has been on my mind for the last little while, so i thought i'd ask the sangat..... Is it time for us to change the ardas a little bit... i know dont jump just yet.. what i mean is, in ardas we ask for the seva and sambhal of the gurudwara sahibs like Sri Nanakana Sahib, that had been taken away from us.... But Guru Ji has now answered our prayer for that. The seva and sambhal of these Gurudwaras are now in the hands of Sikhs....... so do we remove that from the ardas now that we say? Just a thought.... Bhul Chuk Maaf Fateh Jio
  18. was just waiting for something like this thank you
  19. waheguru..... There are also many laws which purposely make them distinct from the practices of Hindus and Muslims, such as the prohibition of eating meat killed in the Muslim way, the practice of various Hindu rites, etc. They also are commanded to refrain from indulging the body to excess and using intoxicants of any form as well keeping a heart free of lust, anger and selfishness. this is from that site u posted up there... i was gonna post this in that hindu sikh thing.. but they just argue and wont look at it, but its funny how a muslim (non sikh) can find an answer so easily to the question is a Sikh a Hindu. Neway reading his article really put a big smile on my face. It's nice to see our religion being respected like this. The only thing that caught my eye was the table and chairs part neway.. good stuff.... Fateh Ji
  20. waheguru .. waheguru.... ego? ji... waheguru... may guru ji keep me away from ego... i wrote what i read in Rangle Sajan... I'm sorry if thats my ego speaking, and if its my ego that has kept the Sikh population at 25 million.... or 2 million did u say.... If you read my post.. i did not say that all religions are the same... please read again.. i said that Sikhi has the advantage cus our Guru's tried to teach us how to handle obtaining the true Guru. I'm not sure if Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh ji (Notice no Sant in front of that name) and Giani Nahar Singh Ji (again no Sant) are uneducated parchaaraks..... I would also like to add that I never said that Ram was good.. or bad... he had a lot of bhagati and was unable to handle it as was Ravan. I dont think that i said cutting hair and drinking makes a religion Niaara. Ji what i was trying to say was that we are not at a position to speak bad of these people. Maybe i was wrong. I know that I personally dont have the right to say nething about anyone like that. I learned something new today and I am glad to be in the company of Gursikhs that are at that level though I'm trying to understand what you wrote here. Are you saying that what i was talking about i heard from some Sant or Baba? .... Neway, I've noticed a lot of people here also translate Gurbani to suit their own needs........ Yes they had major flaws, but how can you tell me how he really was? if he was expected in Guru Ji's darbar after or not.... how can you be sure? Yes he had major flaws... but so do a lot of people..... AGAIN I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM NOT SAYING THAT THEIR RELIGION IS BETTER. I HONESTLY DONT LIKE HALF THE STUFF THEY DO AND LAUGH AT THE OTHER HALF BUT AT THE SAME TIME I DONT THINK I AM SOMEONE IN THE POSITION TO BAD MOUTH PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE BHAGATI.... was just trying to get that point accross that when u post, please try not to slander. the question was are Sikh's Hindus? and the answer to that is No. Our beliefs are too different.... They beleive in many God's while we believe in one almighty God. We think that the preachers of their religion fell out of God's grace when they fell into worldly possessions or began preaching that they themselves are God. We have our Guru, Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Our Guru's have taught us the way to God... Sikhs are not Hindus..... Now why do we need to say something so simple, by slandering others? Bhul Chuk Maaf Fateh again if im running around with ego then please put me in my spot... as i do not want to have ego.... I'd be very greatful to you.....
  21. WJKK WJKF Reading the responses, im surprised at what many have to say. After reading this i started reading Rangle Sajan by Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh, and right off the bat i read something which was perfect for this thread. In the introduction to the book, Giani Nahar Singh reminds the readers that a Sikh was not always perfect. There are very few people who were born with the perfect ideals, perfect thinking (i emphasise the word people). When we look at the lives of many Gursikhs, they were not always righteous, they had faults, but they did bhagti and reached a certain point. That was his first point. Dont put people down cus of actions of their past. Many of the Gursikh's we see today have not always been that way. Second, he pointed out that there are many who reach God, who obtain God, but these people are unable to handle it. Look at us and worldly possessions, the more money a person gets the higher their ego goes. Now imagine getting that possession that is anmol, imagine obtaining God, just like worldly possessions it is hard for people to obtain that without getting an ego, without falling apart, without having that "ME" factor. This does not mean they didnt have Bhagati, this does not mean that we should put them down. For example, Ravan. He is hated by Hindu's but looked upon as a God by Sri Lankans. Ravan had so much bhagati, but he was unable to handle it. It got to his head. God then does something in order to end this persons life. Now, can we say that Ravan was pure evil? does anyone know how Ravan lived before the whole incident with Sita and Ram? Ravan did a lot of bhagati in his life. It was just the time for his life to conclude... I'm not sure about others here, but I know myself that I do not have even a millionth of the bhagati that some of these people that we are putting down had.. and saying a millionth is being outrageously generous.... Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji spoke against them because they were at a level that they could. I am not at their level that I can say things against people that have so much Bhagati in their lives. Raja Janak is an amazing example. Even Ram, yes he fell, he could not take himself away from the worldly thoughts when he sent Sita back, but does that mean he didnt have bhagati? Did that mean he did not believe in God? Does that mean I'm a better person then him and can put him down. No! Again these people had a lot more bhagati then most of us, and they are lucky to even have reached that stage where they had the oppurtunity to be able to handle such a thing.... i only wish that one day i will be that close to God. If there ever is a Gursikh who gets that close to Guru Ji, lets hope that they are able to handle it. These people could not handle it. Sikhi teaches us from the beginning how one can handle the amazing power one recieves as the reach God. That is a major advantage that Sikhi has over others....... Bhul Chuk Maaf Fateh
