What do you understand by the pangti above?

I thought I understood it. However despite having recited it for a number of years, I realised it has a much deeper meaning.

The words ratan jawahar manik actually mean veraag, gyan and naam which come into the budhi when we listen to the bachan of the True Guru.

    Pretty much what you said.

After reading Fairdkot Teeka of course. :grin

OP has some sort of a point, if Amritdharis were the only ones allowed to have AK, then perhaps all this interfaith nonsense might decrease slightly.

Mangal Phere it shall be then sir!

    Here we go again

I would be very VERY far from suicide if I had certain types of fantasies such as those which have been mentioned here before. The closest I've ever come is when I drank a bottle of Blonde Belgian Ale.

It would convert, for example krodh will become bir raas, lust would become pyar for the world etc

Kaam - Pyaar (or desire for Akaal)

Krodh - Daya (and Bir Ras)

    Lobh - Santokh

    Moh - attachment to Naam?

    Hankaar - Nimrata

All of the above is collectively Sat? Or maybe Sat is opposite of hankaar because that is the ultimate truth - no duality?

Well if you don't mind in private message as i don't really understand most singers in punjabi anyway. I do understand hip hop rap music as its in english but not punjabi songs lol

Yaar tu rehnde. He sings about the stuff you are trying to avoid.

I am not necessarily agreeing with the original poster's proposition, but it should be mentioned that the Hazuri Sikhs don't agree with you. There, you have to have taken Amrit in order to have an Anand Karaj.

As for banis, I agree that merely parroting the words is not good, but it would seem quite odd for a Sikh not know at least Japji.

When the day comes that Hazoori Sikhs are the ones who rule, I will in all honesty consider this. While I don't have a problem with making people take Amrit before marriage, point is in many cases it will be only for the sake of marriage. Which is pointless. Maybe a system like Naamdharis would be better? Technically they do give Amrit to the couple.

Yeah ok Japji Sahib but OP is asking for something bordering on Das Granthi. And off by heart, it's not easy for everyone.

get joora, but what's a jooda? is this an accent from another part of Punjab using a d instead of a r?

Nah bro. is sometimes written as ਡ਼. Many transliterations write D instead of R or RH.

I think in the Devanagari script there is no equivalent to  . Instead it uses a modified D like the latter shown above. Maybe the influence is from this.

I have no objection to him calling his art whatever. Everyone's business is ultimately their own. I feel there is value surely in his art. I suggested he do his own thing, and maybe name it uniquely,  because from information available he isn't doing the Nihang thing except in dress. To my untrained eyes.

Brother, I don't have enough knowledge here to comment on what exactly his art is. There are arguments strongly for and against. Many times each side has tried to debunk and prove if his art is Shastar Vidya. Many Nihangs these days themselves do not know authentic Shastar Vidya.

Other than his appearance though, from what I could research, in what way does he promote Sikhi?

He doesn't necessarily promote Sikhi because that's not his job, he's not a preacher/kathakaar/prachaarak.

Aren't all the groups being discussed on here then also Sikh?

It just feels like this dude is being held to a different standard, in our conversation, than all these other groups.

The main difference between them and Niddar, and it's a big difference, is Niddar doesn't claim he is some messiah/Guru/spiritual master. He doesn't really actively go out preaching his interpretations of Sikhi. They're his own views. He's never said "I am the leader and I am right so follow me". He's an individual, his views are out there and some agree with him but they don't grant him an elevated position, their views may simply just match his. He is not Sant Baba Niddar Singh nor does he claim to be, he doesn't say he's enlightened. The other groups/cults claim all of these things of their respective leaders and so did/do the leaders themselves.

    1 hour ago, GurjantGnostic said:

How is he a Sikh vs all these other groups being labeled cults?

Although his views are controversial, they're nothing new. His school of thought is an exaggerated version of Traditional Sikhi where he has, in the opinion of many, crossed over into Hinduism a bit too much. Many of his views are still in line with Sikhi.

He actually has a good website. Very informative. He has also written a book which is supposed to be excellent.

    1 hour ago, GurjantGnostic said:

You say he isn't Nihang, but he dresses like one?

Lots of people dress like Nihangs, doesn't mean they are one. Officially he isn't a Nihang.

And don't listen to the BBC or any media outlet, they love a bit of Orientalism. Real Nihangs are being real Nihangs and they have an extremely dedicated lifestyle and are damn worthy of the Panth's respect.

My humble Namaskaar to the Dal Panth.

-Edit- Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, I'll just say I was trying not to be biased. Giving my views as an outsider.

Dude should get a full time school going if he can and just be true to his hinduism, do his own thing. Call it Shastar Shiva or something.

Bro Shastar Vidya is an ancient Indic science. It is not the monopoly of Sikhi. Niddar Singh probably isn't a Nihang but he is a Sikh. His views are different that's all, he views things through a different lens. IMO I do believe he blurs the lines a little too much with Hinduism but having said that, I've never met him or spoken to him neither have half the people who say x, y, and z about him, and also that video is very selectively edited.

His references to Shiv Ji are somehwhat numerous and some are quite possibly erroneous but I mean Nihangs are considered Shiv Swaroop i.e. destroyers. Which is exactly what they are lol. Again, it's just him viewing things through a different lens. Here's a quote from Bhagauti Astotar which may explain where he's coming from:

    ਪੜ੍ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰੋਤ ਯਾ ਕੋ ॥ ਕਰੈ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਕਾਲੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਤਾ ਕੋ ॥
Whosoever repeats this Astotar (with love) in the early morning, Rudra [Shiv Ji] and Kali both salute you !

About his Rehat, while I'm not doubting that there may be some questionable things that he does which go against Maryada, it's not really of concern to anybody else.

As stated by another poster, people are free to go and talk to him if they wish, he's not a fugitive. And from what I hear, he's very approachable.

People need to worry less about him (and what he eats). Seriously.

That is shocking bro. I mean I've seen their videos before but I didn't know the amount of crap these lot were coming out with! Can't believe we've never really heard about them before.

Where are all these anti-beadbi groups, too busy beating up other Sikhs over minor infractions probably.

Thanks for letting the Sangat know of the extent of their bakwaas.

And do they actually think that people are gonna believe that picture of the baba is real lol? What terrible photoshop skills.
