It's a little embarrassing for me to see a person outside of our faith suggest such simple, obvious solutions. It really is embarrassing..cuz we all KNOW that this is what we must do. The year I worked as an assistant teacher for an elementary school last year, ALL THE VOLUNTEERS FOR LUNCH SUPERVISION WERE SULLEES!! Each, and every SINGLE ONE OF THEM... I hate it when ppl think we are sullees cuz of the same clothes. DISGUSTING!!! IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER: When kids are playing on the Gurudwara soccer team, it does nothing. Playing on the Gurudwara team does NOT make it easier for those few players on Rep teams to keep their Kadaas and Kirpans on!! It just shows that those ppl are insecure, therefore putting their kids in Gurudwara teams. My sister has been playing volleyball for 5-6 years now. She ties a Dastaar, wears the sarab loh Kadaa, and is sometimes asked to remove them. In her 5-6 years of playing the sport...Only ONE referee had not asked her to remove it, before telling her that he understood it is important to a Sikh. FACT: Punjabi parents think 'attending as many night parties as possible = being western. ...but, somehow, striving to make a country better is all up to the "western goraas".. :6 These idiocy is the Sikh community's problem. Therefore, ridding the stupi.dity within our community is the only solution. Someone's gonna have to break it to these folks, that.. the fact is.. We can't celebrate about manmohan. He will not do ANYTHING for Sikhs. ... His wife wears a saadee all the time.. FINDS A KADAA TOO HEAVY TO WEAR, but wears the other jewelry.. Her brother can play all day, go out, come home late drunk, not go to school just cuz he doesn't want to, get new game stations for each birthday (while she gets $20. wow...) all while he gets Cs & Ds (around 65% & lower, I'm pretty sure) She cooks and cleans at home. She cleans her BROTHERS room.. disgusting! She's responsible for taking care of her baby brother when her mom doesn't want to. He physically attacks her with a belt or the wooden hockey stick before locking her up in her room when she receives less than a 95% mark. She's sooooo skinny so you could imagine. Doesn't end there... Here's the worst part... Lastly...sadly... She is already engaged to a guy from Pakistan who is 12-13 (cant remember.. but in the double-digits) years older than her.. who she HAS to marry as soon as she graduates from high school (age 18)... After high school, she can't go to school. Can't have a job cuz she can't be "alone" so she can't do anything then.) I asked her, "What on Earth is the point of making you get 95%s if you're not even gonna attend school after that?!?!" She said, "So that I don't have no free time for 'normal' things." Her parents tell everyone that they are SO RELIGIOUS and that they follow the Kuraan as much as possible. The insensitive father once said that he is very connected to God. :6 w.t.f?? I told her to move out somehow cuz that's all INSANE! She was BORN IN CANADA.. and she has to go through this...?? What's the point of moving to a country if you're gonna follow the same Fd up rules in your previous country? Well of course!!!!!..... It's to spread convert people. These people have no less than 5 kids man... Ages are always like 25..21..15..12..7..& Newborn If her parents are following the Kuraan as much as they can.. I wonder can imagine what stuff it says.. I thought it was happening mostly in UK (converting Sikh girls to Islam). Has that started to happen in Canada as well? Errr... I don't know if it's as common in Canada. What I do know is that, compared to the UK, there's way less 'chaos' and idiocy in Canada. ..and I've heard a fair amount of those stories in Canada. The original poster never mentioned anything that would indicate she believes she can do what she wants because guys do it. You're clearly not familiar with how girls think. Almost all girls who do those kinds of things don't do it because guys do it... They do it because society does it. In the west, guys and girls do the same thing. It's not about a girl being rebellious. Girls aren't hiding behind an attitude like "Oh but if guys can do it, so can I." This is the west we're talking about. That's because instead of peer pressure coming directly from her peers.. SHE'S the one who is putting pressure on herself to fit in the crowd. It's just a different way of experiencing peer pressure. (In her case, a pathetic way.. cuz she's the cause of it.) She feels the need to belong. She feels insecure. I MEAN HELLO?!?! SHE CLEARLY FEELS GOOD ABOUT HERSELF BEING CHASED BY GUYS AND FEELS BETTER ABOUT HERSELF FITTING INTO THE GROUP OF GIRLS WHO PUT BEAUTY BEFORE MANY OTHER THINGS..!! That's why I said she needs help. Her situation is a little.. different. She really doesn't realize the psychological reasoning for her thinking. She needs to change the way she thinks. She's mentally stable, but has a weak mindset.
