  1. I'm bumping this thread up, because I would like opinions on what the pattern of Punjabi in the UK has been in recent years? Is it still majority from Doaba? In Canada, I understand most of the newbies are in greater number from Majha and Malwa rather than Doaba?

Now we are getting into specifics.

It is not the fact that Gurdwarae have a lot of Sangat,  it is the fact that they are not sitting in the darbar hall but in the langar hall.

This is because Gurdwarae in the west do not have the exact same function as it would be in Punjab.

Gurdwarae in the west are more than just places of worship,  they are like social centres bringing the community together but not in the way you would expect.

However, even on normal day you can get about 50 people sitting in the darbar hall at any one time.

The reason why it doesn't look like that is because darbar halls are so big. They can look half empty but can have quite a lot of people.

I'm surprised regarding Gravesend,  particularly since you have massive gurdwara with the large outdoor green area for those kabaddi tournaments.

Trust me, I have rarely gone to Gurdwaras (including East Ham, Karamsar Ilford, Woolwich Singh Sabha, Gravesend, Gillingham, Shepherd's Bush) at 'off-peak' hours and thought they were 'busy'. And yes, usually single digit number of sangat in Darbar halls.

But again, luckily, a lot busier than most Churches

no don't think so because sunny is doing the shaft hairstyle to look intelligent and distance himself from  sikhi (yeah haha on both counts) and yet he cannot stop yapping about things that have nothing to do with him .The liberal media love it and lap up his pronouncments like he knows something but all he does is undermine his own parent's community for the people who would have them converted or six feet under.

His brother is not a household name to be honest.

Just a out of interest was Jugraj bald like his brother sunny hundal?

As baldness usually runs in families.

It doesn't 'usually' run in families. He would have a higher chance of baldness, yes. But most men (and women) lose hair/hair thickness as they get older

The UK is largely a post Christian society.

The institution of religion has been broken down over the past few decades for the British whites.

How would you suggest that Gurdwaras adapt.

Are Sangat attendances down? Gurudware are packed over the weekends (though this could be due to the akhand paths, sukhmani paths and Anand Karajs taking place)and with the numerous Gurpurabs, Band Chor Divas and Vaisakhi.

If you go to the Gurdwarae during the weekday, you'd be surprised how much Sangat there is at different times of the day.

Our congregation operates very differently to the Judeo Christian one.

Which is your local Gurdwara? Gurdwaras are not that busy during daytime or weekends. I can tell you this is true for Woolwich and Gravesend Gurdwaras. Certainly, there will be a lot of sangat in Langar Hall but not many sitting in Darbar Sahib

But yes, a lot busier than Churches. Churches (by choice/or not) allow all sorts of events to happen within them, like blood donation camps

Should Gurdwaras be opening the door for more community events?

This gurcharan is the same gurcharan from facebook. He is no-one to talk about Sikhs.

he uses the most abusive language for Sri Dasme Patshah's granth Sahib.

@S1ngh Bro, you are a moderator here. Can you sort this OP out and approve his posts before they appear here.

He is spreading a lot of nonsense from the Asia smachar group which is based in malaysia and are hard-core missionaries.

I cannot click to like your post. I agree, the OP is just being allowed free reign to post lots of stuff, most of which is not very relevant. But I actually found the article posted interesting.

As Sikhs we should admire him as he is out there putting his life in danger and his faced with hostility not just from extremist Muslims but the whole Muslim community as well as the left wing media and the political establishment. The same people who are against Tommy are the same people who are against Sikhs and would not lose an opportunity to show us in a bad light while walking on eggshells when dealing with Muslims. Look at the one man band called Sikhs against the EDL. They have never even dealt the child grooming issue and try and post a contrary view to theirs and they will ban you from their facebook profile. They are the real fascists.

The reason why people like Tommy exist is not because there is a inherent racism among the white British but because of the fact that some Muslims have engaged in not just terrorism but also child grooming across the UK. Had there been no Muslims engaging in terrorism in the UK and there were no child grooming going on then people like Tommy would not exist.

    Good post

Read the above earlier today. It is a total hit piece against the great work done by Panthic organisation Sikh Youth UK. It has quotes from that odious leftie Balwinder Rana of the one man 'Sikhs against the EDL' and the dhimmi Katy Sian who incidentally won the 'heroes' against the Islamophobia awards from the Islamic Human Rights council, an organisation which is an oxymoron in itself. It looks like the liberal sell out fake sikhs can't handle the fact that Sikh organisations like SYUK are making such a huge impact in the community so they have started their character assassinations of this  organisation. The Rana <banned word filter activated> has even tried to assassinate the character of Bhai Mohan Singh of SAS because he spoke at the Football Lad's march last month. The left wing sell out one man band organisations like 'Sikhs against the EDL' and 'Turban Campaign' are seen for the jokes that they are in the community and so they want to try and throw some mud on SYUK and see if any will stick.

I think @Ranjeet01 has given the best answer.

Other than that, he is the individual responsible for Ontario recognizing April as Sikh Heritage Month, something the Hindus still haven't been able to get a bill passed for (though they are trying lol). He is also lobbying for Canada to recognize what happened to us in 1984 as a genocide (which the Indian gov't loves to call riots instead). And just recently he defended Parmar (Air India 182), but he has a point, Parmar was never convicted, he was just accused without substantial proof. So all these things lead him to being painted as a Khalistani, which I see nothing wrong with myself either. But of course, Canadian Hindus don't like him for this, and some of our own don't either.

Really what the Indian gov't and the Canadians that have Indian backgrounds want him to do is flaunt around his Indian heritage, but he rightfully doesn't. Instead he criticizes India, and that irks the Canadian Hindus the most. Anyways, Indians are labeling him all sort of things, yet his family's contribution to India has been greater than most of the individuals that are slandering him, his grandfather was Sewa Singh Thikriwala - a freedom fighter.

I hope he does well in his political career

How does one incite hatred when the animosity was already there well before Tommy came in the scene.

The EDL is not what it once was.

In regards to Tommy,  if you keep tabs on what he is doing has moved on from the EDL. He's writing books, has has death threats against him as actually confronts the groomers, like Bhai Mohan Singh he has a mission.

The thing about Tommy is that he is not wrong.

    Common goals makes strange bedfellows.

Do you believe Tommy is genuinely fighting a cause he believes he, and is not under control of the government/secret services?

If he is, I admire him.

We need to be careful as a community, because after Muslims, the press might find ways to alienate us and build opposition towards us as a community

All who read the title may be thinking playing with yourself in a sexual manner. But let's understand kaam a little bit more in advance.

Sangat jio, I can be an unsatisfied man at times! If I have gone with my friends to a high classified restaurant we all agree on one thing afterwards... "Next time we have to try another restaurant." Any guesses what we say next time after finding that another dine out?? "Next time we have to go for another restaurant!" :/ Basically we can eat out in EVERY SINGLE restaurants across the whole wide world in our life time. Any guesses what will happen when ALL restaurants are dined out on? Will we be SANTOKH!?

BACK TO POINT OF KAAM! Two words that I REALLY hate put together, is "Sexually unsatisfied." Two couples get married, they finally make love, then make love again... and again... NOTHING wrong there. However, once one spouse decides "I am not satisfied! I wanted more. My partner's not fulfilling all my desires I developed as a teen, My partner's sexual organs ain't big as I hoped..." THIS IS KAAM PLUS NOT BEING SANTOKH KICKING IN!" If you're unhappy with your spouse's body you are not likely to find happiness in a stranger's body (one out of many why partner's cheat on husband/ wife). Think about it.

So Gurbani states to be santokhi and NOT to cheat on your partner. By being santokh half the life's problems will automatically be solved, BUT if your both lives are going by great and dandy, all love and happiness YOU'RE EVEN MOTHER AND FATHER! but never been happy with sex means the mind can become kaami, like "I wish their was another partner in my life, I wish I could cheat..." I guess we must be happy with what we have. You're a mum/ dad to 2 kids GREAT! It's a sign you made love and everything worked out well, if that didn't satisfy you, then what makes us think that another person could satisfy us?? (Just like new restaurants cannot satisfy us).

Good post, I think. Not sure it really explained lust on an advanced level though. Lust is truly one of the mysteries of living beings I think.

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh

I would like to walk from ludhiana to darbar sahib which is roughly 142 kms and want to finish the yatra in a few days. How can i prepare for such a long walk? I still have a month to prepare as i am going in mid November. My route would be from ludhiana to jalhandar, jalhandar to amritsar. Trying to do this in two days. I could also do ludhiana to jalhandar, jalhandar to goindwal sahib, and goindwal sahib to anritsar. These could be my possible routes.

Being honest, unless you are used to walking at least 10-12 km a day, you will struggle to walk just 42km let alone 142km in a few days. You should start training now if you definitely want to achieve your goal, aim to be walking 25km a day comfortably at least a weak before you set off

Premi I should be asking the same question why mod's & admin are allowing this topic ?

Look, sorry if I'm making very personal posts, but a lot of the new threads stated should not be on this part of the forum.

You are right, I don't know the moderators personally, and am grateful for their work, but they are not doing their job based on what I see in terms of moving new  threads to the right sections

Missionary work needs to begin in every country in every continent in every village. We need to show that we want people to join our faith. Instead of preaching that all religions are the way to God and it does not matter if you are Sikh or not.

    Boleeeeeeeeeeeeeee Soni ni haal Satsriakal

And will you go out to Arabia ?

I personally think it this digital age, we reluctantly will benefit ourselves through spreading through conversions of select influential individuals (let's call them celebrities). But the Bilderburg/Rothschild agenda in the world might not allow that for many years
