  1. (I hope this is the right place to post  ) can anyone tell me where to find the English translation of the Dasam Granth? I'm really interested in reading it.
  2. Ok, I've come up with a few more... From Harry Potter I already said I'm a lot like Neville (clumsy, shy, and confused... mostly clumsy) but now that I think about it I'm alot like Hermione Granger, too. I feel strongly about cheating and lying and I'm so into that activation stuff (hermione was trying to free the little gnome-?- things; that's like me and animal rights!) plus I guess you could say I'm a *ahem* good academic student. But at the same time I'm alot like Pippin from lotr cuz outside of achool I'm really, really stupid. :
  3. As some of you should know, Harry Potter 6 came out recently. Well, I got my copy and reading it I began to realise how much like Neville Longbottom I am. Then I thought about my all time favourite movie, Lord of the Rings, and I remembered thinking that I was so much like Pippin Took. So I began to come up with some other movies/books/tv shows that feature characters that are, well, just like ME. Here's what I cam up with: Anne of Green Gables - Anne The Weekenders (it's a cartoon) - Tino Tonnitini The Powerpuff Girls - Blossom ---will add more later, right now I gotta go downstairs for Rehraas Paat!--- So, who are you guys like?
  4. I feel the same way. And it's especially with the khanda... it's becoming like a Punjabi gangsta symbol, which I think is *bull poop*, and you also have all these annoying buissness names popping up with the word Khalsa in it... I'm sure everyone can think of a few near where they live.
  5. I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but they're making a new film - and they're looking for actors from the Sikh community to star in it! You can actually visit the website - http://www.oceanofpearlsfilm.com - to learn how you can audition for the part. They're looking for a gutka group, too, for those of you that are interested! The story is about a Sikh named Amrit who endures a lot of racism as a kid, and as he gets older he becomes absolutely desperate to fit in. One day he loses a patient (he's a surgeon or something) and everything goes downhill from there. He completely loses his faith. Then his father convinces him to go to a Sikh Children's Camp, and well... you can read more on the website. :e:
  6. Yes, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
  7. I definitely think it's worth fighting against. Our Sikh community shouldn't be supporting this strictly money-making, anti-Sikh buissness.
  8. That's such a great idea, I would have so loved to come and get to know some of the sangat on this website. But I'm leaving for Vancouver the 28th of this month - so I won't be able to come!
  9. This is great! And the graphics look awesome!
  10. Exactly! :T: Everything in the world is controlled by Waheguru - everything happens according to His Will. That means that if a gora or kalla not born in Sikhi discovers it and decides to follow it, it is due to His grace. You shouldn't worry about other races coming into Sikhi because if God wants it to be so it will happen. And like you said, we are nothing but mere humans - we cannot say who does or does not 'deserve' to be a Sikh. Paurathensher, I am curious to know - have you ever been onto Sikhnet.com? Because if you have you'll be interested to know that the webmaster is a gorra. And have you ever seen the show "Insights Into Sikhism"? Because the host is also a gorra Gursikh. You should see him speak - you can just tell he has so much passion and love for Sikhi, even moreso than many birth-sikhs. I understand if you are offended that a Sikh women would marry a non-Sikh. I agree with you that it is not real love, and that they should only concentrate on their love for guruji. However, I disagree when you argue that we should not spread Sikhi. Why would we not want others to come onto this beautiful path?
  11. Sikhs are supposed to marry other Sikhs. Race has nothing to do with it. I find Purathansher's comments kind of offensive since I have a lot of black/white friends. You know, sometimes people from other races have a better feeling for what Sikhi is about than our own people. You have black people that are so touched by Sikhi that are willing to learn everything they can about our guru's teachings - and then you have our Punjabi folk that don't even know the names of our gurus. Tell me, is it black and white people not worthy of being called Sikhs, or are our own people the ones that are unworthy? Purathansher - please don't take my comment offensivly. I just think you neeed to be more open-minded.
  12. Yikes, that's a nasty cut. I have like two huge... things, dunno what you'd call them... on my feet from two/half years of barefoot taekwondo. kinda gross. Anyways, good luck!
  13. Has anyone ever gone to this site and listened to the songs? - www.mus1k.com I think the music is beautful, I love it. I want to order the cd. Btw, does anyone know of any other really nice Sikhi-related music that I can listen to online?
  14. I made an account on it, but I don't ever go on.
  15. Woah... groooooooSUM!! But it is pretty impressive.
  16. This is a great article, I totally agree with what the author is saying.
