Personally, the SIKH REHIT maryada I follow would have to be the original maryada (at least before 1946 – before it got polluted by INTERPRETATIONS) – lets not forget how Bhai Gurdas Ji was the first Jathedhar of the Akal Thakth, and historically speaking, his opinion is one of the most revered in Sikh tradition (he did after all give us the ‘key’ to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj!)
Anyway… follow what you know is right, I mean… the craze nowadays with people from all walks of life is to abandon meat due to its implications on our immune systems etc. Also, lets not forget how it is PROVEN that when an animal (humans included) is decapitated (even with a single blow) our muscles release toxins into our bloodstream which is clear evidence of suffering.
I mean, if this wasnt the case, then we should be thankful to the ISLAMIC Fundamentalists who severed Daniel Pearls head off in Iraq, I mean… they didn’t put him through any pain by cutting off his head (right???) Yes SANGAT, please do excuse my sarcasm.
Anyway, follow what you believe is right, personally, I am not a THAKSALI and never will be, however, I have to agree with a lot of their viewpoints and each of those are backed up with concrete facts (recitation of mool mantar, panj banis, meat issue, Sri Dasam Guru Granth etc) to name a few…
So, do your research, and remember.. Sikhi is changing everyday, and we’re the newest Religion around, so there isn’t really any reason that justifies these changes made solely on the basis of personal convenience.
