  1. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! THE JEEVAN OF GIANI AMOLAK SINGH JI The Jeevan of Giani Amolak singh ji is amazing and his Seva is extensive. This article is a brief outline, but it can never do justice to such a Great Gursikh. CHILDHOOD Giani Amolak singh was born in the village Dhaat, Ludhiana, Punjab. His fathers name was Sardar Bogha Singh, and his mothers name was Mata Dhan kaur. After studying his Metric, Amolak singh went on to Punjab University, where he did the Giani course. Hence, he became affectionately known as Giani Amolak Singh ji. Giani ji interest in Sikhism began from his parents. His father was devout soul. Everyday at Amritvela, he would take milk to the Gurdwara sahib, and sweep the floor. However the biggest influence in these early years was his Mama Ji. This was Master Joginder Singh, a well known Gursikh and close associate of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji. Master is mentioned in many of Bhai sahib books. From the age of 5 years, Giani was in the sangat of these blessed souls such as Master ji, Bhai Sahib and the Akhand Kirtan Jatha. In 1936, Master Joginder Singh ji did seva at Tarn Tarn Sahib. Giani ji regularly stayed there and was inspired to learn keertan. Such was the blessed soul of Giani ji, that by the age of 8 years, he realised his path in life, and partook Amrit. EARLY SEVA In 1944, Giani ji started attending the Gurmat Sahib Sudar College, Ludhiana. The group that ran this project were vibrant companions of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh. They created a school which taught Pure Gurmat and was strict in discipline. The students of this school all became prominent Sikh activists and did a lot for the Panth. It was here that Giani ji started teaching tabla and harmonium. Later on Giani ji found a job as a Punjabi teacher in a government school. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh told Master Joginder Singh to write a letter to the Government, and tell them Giani Ji is resigning from that position. Giani ji accepted the will and pyaar of the Gursikhs and returned to the Gurmat Sahib Sudar College. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji was very prominent in the Panthik arena. There was wide recognition of his high Jeevan and Panthik Kurbani. Bhai Sahib and Baba Attar Singh with many other Gursikhs had brought a lot of change in the Panth via the Gurdwara Sudar Movement. They worked under the banner of the Panch Khalsa Divan. There was a huge conference at Patiala. This was organised by the Maharaja of Patiala. Bhai Sahib was given the Presidentship of the conference. However Bhai Sahib gave a powerful address in this conference condemning the corrupt forces in the Panth. Bhai sahib openly stated to the Maharaja, that his throne has been blessed to him by Satguru. He told him to give his Raj to the Panth, or he will lose it. Such has happened today. A lot of intimidation was put to Bhai sahib at that conference to not say what he believed. But Bhai Sahib was full of Tat Gurmat passion. It was Giani Amolak singh and other Gursikhs who stood side by side with Bhai sahib to make sure Tat Gurmat is stated. LETTER FROM BHAI SAHIB Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji was very fond of Giani ji. It has been mentioned to me before that Bhai Sahib had so much love for so many Gursikhs, but was fond of two youth in particular. One was Bhai Sahib Jeevan singh ji and the other Giani Amolak Singh ji. Both spent a lot of time with Bhai sahib, and even travelled to Kumaar Hatti with him. Giani jis family has a letter written by Bhai Sahib. One day these will be put on the internet. In one letter Bhai Sahib recalls the Gurbani shabad, “Tum Vekh Vekh Hum Jeevannâ€. Bhai sahib states, “I have searched but I cannot find anyone who sings this shabad with the same satisfaction as you.†ANAND KARAJ In Bhai Sahib`s village of Narangwal, living next to Bhai sahib house was another Gurmat family. The two houses had a lot of love between them. Bhai sahib selected Giani jis life companion from this house. Bhai Sahib simply told Giani ji that his match had been found and he should marry. Giani humbly accepted his wishes. In 1949, Giani ji married Bibi Surjit Kaur ji. AFRICA A delegation came from Dar El Salam in Africa went to meet Bhai sahib. Many Sikhs had now moved to Africa and set up a Gurdwara. The delegation asked Bhai Sahib to recommend a good Granthi singh for seva. Bhai Sahib sent Giani ji. Giani ji left in 1956. Giani did a lot of seva in Africa during his time of 1956 to 1967. At that time the Namdhari Gurudom of Jagjit Singh was very prominent in Africa. Giani ji was invited to a conference organised by the East Africa Council. Jagjit singh also spoke at this conference. It was here that Giani ji spoke vigorously on the subject of “Shabad Guru†and countering a lot of Namdhari propaganda. From that day Giani ji gained widespread prominence in Africa. Everyday Giani ji would take personal charge of doing seva of Maharaj. He would ensure perfect rumallas, and encourage the sangat to learn how to do seva properly. The Sangat had great sharda in doing this seva. Giani ji got a salary for the Singh sabha. But unlike modern Gurdwara Gianis, he never took one penny from the sangat. To compensate for him doing the Giani duty, he spent hours doing Niskam Seva. He would spend his day time doing free seva at the Khalsa School, from 4pm to 6pm teaching keertan. His passion was for Niskam seva. SANGAT`S DUST IS YOUR CURE Over time, Giani ji noticed that his kesh on one side of his moustache and beard where falling out. They had thinned significantly and it had become noticeable. Giani ji became quite concerned. He tried various medication, but to no avail. Giani ji decided to write a letter to Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji. Bhai Sahib wrote back telling Giani ji that the only cure is to everyday to “Joorian De Seva†(clean the dust of the shoes of the sangat), and wipe it on that area. Bhai sahib said that dust is your medication. Soon Giani ji`s kesh returned as normal. MEETING WITH BABA PURAN SINGH Giani ji went to Nairobi in Africa, while on holidays. He had heard of an abyassi Gursikh called Baba Puran Singh ji. They had reached late in the evening, and Giani asked about Baba Puran singh. In the morning at Amrit vela, Giani ji began doing Asa Di //. Amongst the sangat in front the kirtanees was Baba Puran Singh ji. Giani ji had never met him, but instantly knew he was a blessed soul. While in kirtan Giani ji hinted to his companion, who is this Gursikh. His companion hinted back, that this is Baba Puran Singh Ji. Thus began Giani jis long association with the Niskam Sevak Jatha. COMING TO THE UNITED KINGDOM Giani ji realised the political situation in Africa, and also considering the education of his children, he moved to Southall in UK. The sangat was just forming in them days and Giani ji started doing keertan divans. The sangat was divided into 2 groups, one the Singh Sabha, and the other was the Sikh Cultural Society. Slowly Giani ji managed to get these two groups together. Then they brought a site for the Gurdwara. In the years 1967-68, the first Amrit Sanchaar in UK took place in Southall. Giani ji did seva in the Panj Pyares. There is a picture of this event in Bhai Rama singh jis autobiography. It was in this Amrit Sanchaar that Bhai Rama Singh ji amongst 15-20 other Gursikhs were blessed with Amrit. In 1968, Giani ji with other Gursikhs from the Akhand Kirtani Jatha arranged the first UK Rainsbhai at the old Green Gurdwara. This was a huge achievement and these Rainsbhai flourish today joining hundreds of souls to keertan and Gurbani abyaass. PANTHIK STATURE Giani ji was also devoted to the affairs of the Panth. From his early days standing by Bhai Sahib Randhir singh till his last days. I have been fortunate to meet many Great Gursikhs. Too often today, they shy away, talking about protecting their Jeevans. But a true Sant-Siphai can never do this. He had too much Pride and Spirit to allow his Father’s Great Guru Khalsa Panth fall into the doldrums. Giani ji was one such person who was fully involved in local, national and Panthik affairs for over 30 years in UK. Giani ji always maintained his Gristi Jeevan working in a biscuit factory. He did his seva in a Niskam manner, never using the Sangats money. Giani ji along with Bhai Madan singh were highly involved in the helmet case, children turban case for schools, and kirpan case, to give our generation freedom to wear our Bana. Giani ji was pivotal in organising the biggest UK demonstrations by Sikhs. The first was the one in 1983, supporting the Dharam Yudh Morcha in Punjab. The second was in 1984 showing the UK Sikhs anger at Operation Bluestar. Giani ji first became President of Singh Sabha Southall in 1972-73. From then on he was involved directly or indirectly with the Gurdwara control until 1985. He was also involved heavily in the Akali Dal UK doing seva as President on numerous occasions over the 30 year period. In the early 1980`s, when Jathedar Gurdyal Singh Ajohna passed away. Gurcharan Singh Tohra, who was President of SGPC, and Sant Harcharan Singh Logowal, who was President of Akali Dal, offered Giani ji the seva of the Akal Takht Jathedari. Giani ji politely declined, due to wanting to maintain his Gristi Jeevan, family responsibilities, and his difficulties with the meat issue in the Akal Thakht Rehit Maryada. He also openly said to the leaders that their friendship would be affected by his inability to be a puppet for them. He had a strong self-dignity and would speak his mind. He was further offered it on numerous occasions in the late 1980`s and 1990`s. But again he declined. However he was a member of the Sikh intelligentsia, and numerous Panthik panels, such as the World Sikh Council and the Akal Thakht Advisory Board. He also played leading part in the Akhand Kirtani Jatha doing smagams worldwide. He was also pivotal in establishing the Niskam Sevak Jatha on the Panthik stage. He played a major part in helping secure the kar seva of Darbar sahib, Keshgarh sahib, Hazoor Sahib and Fatehgarh sahib. SMAGAMS From an early age Giani ji never missed any smagams. He would immerse himself in seva and abyass with his fellow Gursikhs. He would do kirtan far and wide. He often went on Parchaar tours with the Akhand Kirtani Jatha and the Niskam Sevak Jatha. He travelled as far as Canada, America, Africa and Austrailia. Many youth from Canada and America have also written memories of Giani ji as tributes, which shows the love he spread. He ensured no matter what he was occupied with, he always made time, for Sahib Guru Gobind singh ji Gurpurb smagam in Ludhiana, Delhi smagam, and Sahib Guru Nanak dev jis Jallundar smagam. His kirtan is loved by youth in particular. On websites, his UK kirtan and North America are regularly downloaded. But much more than just a Guru ke Kirtannee, Giani ji was a great orator and kathakar. In his keertan he would regularly explain to the sangat, the amazing deep meanings of shabads, and spread the message of Sahib Siri Guru Nanak dev Ji. LOVE BETWEEN GURSIKHS We have already mentioned Giani jis love for Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji and Baba Puran Singh Ji. Giani ji also had a deep love with Bhai Rama Singh ji, Bhai Jeevan Singh Ji, and many others whose names could be mentioned, especially from Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Niskam Sevak Jatha. But Giani Ji in particularly appreciated the Sikh intelligentsia of which Giani ji was one. In this group, Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara was one soul who Giani ji had utmost respect for. This whole week leading up to his funeral, Gurbani Keertan has been sang by those close to him. Sangat has come from as far as Toronto, California and Australia, which shows the pull of his love. Aswell as many Premi Gursikhs, Giani ji has also left a Gurmat legacy on his children, who are also blessed by Guru jis Amrit. Upon leaving to the Sachaa Dargah, Giani ji leaves his two daughters, two sons, many grandchildren, and also three great grandchildren. Giani ji singhni passed away 15 years ago. LEGACY Looking at his jeevan, his legacy must be how he wanted everyone under one Banner – The Khalsa Panth. My personal view is that we have to look at Giani ji life and see how many different arenas and jathas he did seva in. Examining this, we can see he always made “the Seva is Pardaanâ€. He gave this most importance rather than groups, politics and associates. Giani ji was also concerned how much the Akali Dal has become commercialised. I remember a conversation with him, where he showed his unhappiness at the Akali dal making a fundamentalist Hindu the head of Akali Dal in Ludhiana district. He said these modern day Akalis have no vision. He told me that, “once fundamentalist Hindus in Punjab said they will never let Sikhs build the Khalsa Colleges, but all of us Singhs did our kamar kasse and said we will build it. Stop us if you can!†He also warned that our Dharam Parchaar groups were also going the same way. He wanted every Gursikh to be a missionary and spread the message of Sikhism. Very important to this is that they have high Jeevans. This does not mean hiding in our homes, or just attending keertan darbaars, but like Giani ji being active in Dharam Parchaar in a pioneering manner, and standing steadfast in our Gurdwaras upholding Gurmat. He was a real Sant-Siphai – that is his legacy – A True Son of Sahib Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Written by Bhai Jagjit Singh, Information sourced from Bhai Surinder Singh and Bhai Jatinder Singh, beloved sons of Giani Ji. 9. 'Police guilty' in Punjab killing By Asit Jolly BBC News, Chandigarh Six policemen in the north Indian state of Punjab have been convicted of abducting and killing a leading human rights activist. Jaswant Singh Khalra exposed what he said were widespread rights abuses and extrajudicial killings of Sikh separatists by police in the 1990s. He disappeared after being abducted from his home in the city of Amritsar in September 1995. Two policemen were jailed for life and four others for five years each. Analysts said Friday's verdict was significant because it was the first acknowledgement that the Indian state had turned a blind eye to violations committed in the name of combating Sikh separatists. Appeal considered The court in Patiala convicted the men despite the fact the body of Khalra was never found. Colleagues and prominent international human rights organisations had alleged that Khalra was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by police. The investigation was handed over to the federal Central Bureau of Investigation following petitions from the missing activist's wife. Two policemen were given life imprisonment on separate counts of murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy. Four junior police personnel were sentenced to five years and fined 5,000 rupees ($110). Two other accused policemen died during the course of the long trial. Khalra's wife, Paramjit Kaur, welcomed the verdicts but said the trial had been "inordinately delayed" and the sentences were too lenient. She said she would consult her lawyers before deciding on an appeal for stronger sentences. She reiterated her demand that former Punjab police chief KPS Gill also be tried.
  10. ...I wouldn't say this is justice yet... ... Truth triumphs: eyewitness Tribune Reporters Amritsar, November 18“Though late, it is the victory of truth”, says Mr Kirpal Singh Randhawa, the key eyewitness in the abduction of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed mass cremations of unidentified bodies during peak of militancy in ‘false’ encounters and custodial deaths. Jaswant Singh Khalra was allegedly kidnapped by certain senior police officials from his residence in Kabir park locality here on September 6, 1995. He was allegedly killed in police custody and his body was later disposed off by accused policemen. Mr Randhawa, who is also deputy chairman Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO), said, “At last we have got justice”. He said they had together started their service to fight for human rights of the common man who were implicated in false cases by the police during terrorism. He claimed that he had to face harassment also for this as false cases of rape and attempt to murder were registered against him at various police stations in the state so as to pressurise him. Meanwhile, the residents of Khalra village, the native village of human rights activist, expressed their satisfaction on the verdict.
  11. ...and I agree with her, 10 years, two get life imprisonment, the other four get a few years each, NO one getting hanged, and no mention of the dog KP GILL yet?? Khalra’s wife unhappy over verdict Paramjit Kaur Khalra with her counsel Brijinder Singh Sodhi at District Courts in Patiala on Friday. — Photo by Rajesh Sachar Tribune News Service Patiala, November 18 With the indictment of Punjab Police personnel involved in the disappearance of her husband Jaswant Singh Khalra, Paramjit Kaur Khalra is a relieved women. She is not happy with the quantum of the punishment, but feels her husband’s work and their efforts to unmask the unlawful working of the Punjab Police have borne fruit. “Today’s verdict has proved that these people were behind the disappearance of my husband and his murder. It has brought to the fore the black deeds of the police. Since my husband was working on unmasking the fake encounters, they planned to eliminating him.” The case has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for her family. “I am not emotional about it any more. Ten years we have struggled to get justice for my husband and his mission. By the grace of God, my children have handled the whole trauma well. They have suffered but have supported me in my grief and efforts to get justice.” Looking ahead, she says the mission started by Jaswant Singh Khalra is of prime importance and the committee looks forward to taking it a step forward. She sought capital punishment for the accused . “I am not satisfied with the verdict. They should have been hanged. We have fought for justice for 10 years and only two of them have been given life imprisonment. What did the rest get? Seven years and five years.” In fact, one of her counsel Brijinder Singh Sodhi, also reiterated her statement and said they would move the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the decision and seek death penalty for all accused. Hitting out at former DGP KPS Gill, Mr Sodhi said he would ask the CBI to investigate the role of KPS Gill and two other head constables. On January 16, 1995, Jaswant Singh Khalra and Jaspal Singh Dhillon, general secretary and chairman, respectively of the Human Rights Organisation of the SAD, released a report of nearly 25,000 bodies which were allegedly cremated by the police as they were lying unclaimed. Three days later, Mr K.P.S Gill issued a statement in the media that Khalra’s claims were unsubstantiated and that all “missing” persons had actually gone abroad. The very next day, Khalra, speaking at a press conference, challenged Mr Gill’s statement and invited him to have an open debate on the issue. Again on February 27, Khalra, while addressing a press conference, said that he had been receiving threatening calls and was asked to scuttle the investigations. He also claimed that Tarn Taran SSP Ajit Singh Sandhu was in the process of destroying evidence and had demanded that the police officer should be transferred from Tarn Taran to some other place as he was hampering the investigation process. On July 29, 1995, Jaswant Singh Khalra again held a press conference at Amritsar where he reiterated that he had been receiving threats and he communicated the same to the then SGPC chief G.S. Tohra and Mr Justice Ajit Singh Bains. On September 6,1995, Khalra was kidnapped from his 8, Kabir park residence at Amritsar allegedly by Punjab Police personnel.
  12. ...and what is done after 10 years?....... 6 convicted for killing rights activist Khalra Chander Parkash and Rubinder Gill Tribune News Service DSP Jaspal Singh (right)who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Jaswant Singh Khalra case at Patiala on Friday. — Tribune photo by Rajesh Sachar Patiala, November 18 dsp Jaspal Singh and ASI Amarjit Singh were sentenced to life imprisonment and four others awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 each in the Jaswant Singh Khalra disappearance case by the District and Additional Sessions Judge Bhupinder Singh here today. The accused had been booked by the CBI under Sections 302, 201, 364, 120-B and 34 for murder, destroying of evidence, kidnapping with intent to murder and conspiracy. Jaspal Singh and Amarjit Singh were found guilty for murder and destroying of evidence while SHO Satnam Singh, SHO Surinderpal Singh, SHO Jasbir Singh and Head Constable Prithipal Singh were found guilty of kidnapping with an intent to murder and hatching a conspiracy. They were awarded seven years imprisonment for kidnapping and five years for hatching a conspiracy. Both sentences will run simultaneously. All convicted are serving police officers except Surinderpal Singh, who has retired from the police. Incidentally, DSP Jaspal Singh and SHO Satnam Singh were awarded the President's Police Medal for fighting militancy in the state. Jaspal Singh is also embroiled in another murder case of Harbhajan Singh Dhatt, nephew of Bhagat Singh, and is currently out on bail. The clinching evidence in the case was provided by SPO Kuldip Singh, who was the gunman of SHO Satnam Singh at the time of Khalra's disappearance. He had once retracted his statement but later said it had been done under police pressure. Paramjit Kaur Khalra, wife of Jaswant Singh Khalra, said she would have preferred capital punishment to the guilty. Lawyers of both parties said they would appeal in the high court against the verdict. The CBI had initially presented the challan in the court against nine police personnel on October 30, 1996. Besides the six sentenced by the court, the challan included Tarn Taran SSP Ajit Singh Sandhu, DSP Ashok Kumar and Head Constable Rashpal Singh. Ajit Singh Sandhu had committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train in May, 1998 while Ashok Kumar died due to illness. Rashpal Singh was later discharged from the case. Satnam Singh was then SHO, Jhabal police station, Surinderpal Singh was serving as SHO, Sarhali, and Jasbir Singh was the SHO, Manochahal police station. Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was the general secretary of the Human Rights Organisation, had gone missing on September 6, 1995, from his residence at 8, Kabir Park, Amritsar, during Beant Singh's tenure. His wife moved the Supreme Court on September 9, 1995, and on November 11 that year, the Supreme Court ordered the CBI to probe the case.
  13. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! Bhai Jaswant Singh Ji Khalra A Martyr for Human Rights Do you know what he did? Between 1984 and 1995, Indian security forces abducted, tortured, and killed more than 25 thousand Sikhs in "faked encounters". The police did not return the bodies to the families, but instead illegally cremated them or threw them into canals. Jaswant Singh Khalra investigated and exposed these "disappearances". He gathered government records documenting how Punjab police abducted and killed Sikhs, and then cremated the victims as "unidentified". ... and what happened to him? The evidence gathered by Khalra exposed the human rights abuses of the Punjab Police and Indian government. Punjab Police, under instructions from police chief KPS Gill, abducted Khalra on September 6, 1995. The police brutally tortured him for a number of days but he did not bend under their pressure. Ultimately, in late October, the police shot and killed Khalra and threw his body into a river. Ten years later, no one has been held responsible for his murder despite the evidence implicating police officers in his torture and killing. IT HAS NOW BEEN TEN YEARS..... Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!
  14. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! Parkash Badal with RSS Leaders Badal and RSS Sunday 13th November, 2005 Shaabaaz Khalsa USA Amritsar Sahib (KP) - The "Akali" party of Punjab, while claiming to represent Sikhs, is lead by the same old men who allowed the 1978 Amritsar massacre and the martyrdom of Bhai Fauja Singh and 12 other fellow Singhs. They are the same ones who let Gurbachana Narakdhari go unpunished. The Akali party, in an alliance with the Hindu BJP, began to rule Punjab. The RSS activity in Punjab also increased. Sangh programs were held in places like Guru Nanak Dev Stadium (Ludhiana) with the presence of Parkash Badal and other Akali/BJP leaders. On November 16, 1997, Badal while introducing the new RSS chief said, "I can say with confidence that the Sangh, under the leadership of Raju Bhaiya is working towards removing all its shortcomings. Whenever this country has faced either internal or external danger, the Sangh and it's workers have been on the front lines. Today, I am feeling very lucky to be a part of this gathering." Raju Bhaiya in his speech that day, in the presence of Badal, declared, "All Hindus are Sikhs and Sikhs, Hindus. We are all one. Some grow hair and some don't. I say that All Hindus are Sikhs and all Sikh are Hindus. Our principles are the same. With the help of unity, we become very powerful…People are right when they say that Hindus have the power to make Hindustan a leader in the world!" The editors can be reached at editors@panthic.org. 15. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! The following is based on magazine Fatehnama, published from India Even though the self proclaimed Jathedar of Tarna Dal, Ajit (Singh?) Poohla is in jail, some people are still terrorized by him. However, since an organized group has started to make people aware of Poohla’s action, people who have witnessed Poohla commit heinous crimes have started to emerge and speak openly about the crimes he has committed. One of the witnesses is Poohla’s former personal assistant, nihung Swaranjit Singh. A long interview was held with him. What Swaranjit Singh has stated is a disgrace for the Indian government. It is known from the interview that Indian government has participated or known every crime he has committed and has protected Poohla. Background What is Poohla’s background? Poohla can have religious motivation by no chance after looking at his background. Poohla’s father’s name was Nahar Singh Naamdhari. Poohla’s name was Jaswinder Singh. While studying in government college in Ludhiana, Jaswinder was known as Good Fighter and had used his thug tactics in the college to place fear into other students. In 1981, while gambling, his group had a fight over 14,000 rupees. His four mates - Susheel Kumar, Rakaish Kumar, Satpal and Susheel Kumar (another one) - jointly fired bullets at a person named Gurcharan Singh while under the influence of liquor. Gurcharan Singh escaped but a person walking was injured. A case was filed against Jaswinder and his mates. The other three culprits were caught but Jaswinder managed to escape. He was wanted by police. Jaswinder went to a “Kahnay nihungâ€. Other party found out and told the police. However, Kahnay talked to SSP D. R. Bhatti and had the file closed. Jaswinder was now Ajit Sio Poohla or nihung. That case has also been opened after serious protests by people. Recruitment Poohla frequently visited other Nihung deras and took any useful person with him. He talked nicely and lovingly to persuade the person to come with him. Swaranjit Singh’s father was a nihung with the Buddha Dal. A nihung named Santokh Singh from Sultanpur Lodhi sang praises of Poohla and influenced Swaranjit Singh to meet Ajit Poohla. Swaranjit Singh lived at a Gurudwara in a village named Kohaarh Kalan with his family. Poohla came to the village one day and stayed overnight. In the early morning, before Sunrise, Poohla woke up and saw Swaranjit Singh doing Paath and Kirtan. Poohla didn’t have anyone in his Dal with these capabilities. His Dal was full of people who were drug addicts and didn’t follow any part of Sikhism. He convinced Swaranjit Singh and his family to come with him to a Gurudwara located in Sector 39-C in Chandigarh. Swaranjit Singh was very useful to him because he did not take any drugs and was Metric pass in English. Poohla made Swaranjit Singh as his personal assistant. On the other hand when Swaranjit Singh saw Poohla’s real image, he was shocked. Poohla drank every-night in the basements of various forts. He drank around one liter of liquor everyday. Then he played music on a deck and started dancing. He also brought an eunuch names Lavli with him and made her dance with her. Then after some time, he went behind closed doors with her. Moral Corruption He didn’t only commit adultery with eunuchs but he placed his hands on every woman or girl he came into contact with. Swaranjit Singh decided to run away from him but he soon found out that leaving Poohla’s gang is same as calling death. Nihung Thaan Singh, son of Bhai Kapoor Singh, wanted to leave Poohla’s group and asked for permission. It is a tradition that Nihungs have to ask their leader before leaving them. When Poohla was asked for permission, Poohla replied: “Ya! He wants to leave … send him to the future.†So Thaan Singh was beaten up and then burned alive at dera Jhootha in Kartarpur. Same thing happened to one of his companions named Savinder Singh. He also wanted to leave Poohla. Savinder Singh, also called Thattha Fauji, was from a village named Reaali Bhangali. A hymn singer named Gurdial Singh also killed as he was handed over to police officer Paramraj Umranangal. Links to Punjab Police Swaranjit Singh and other witnesses state that police officers Paramraj Umranangal, Sumaid Saini, Ajit Sandhu, Jasminder (Singh?) and some other police officers frequently visited Poohla and they all drank liquor together. Many times police officers asked Poohla to give them some people so they could kill them to show police encounters. Sometimes Poohla sent people from his own gang and other times he sent people from other states to the police officers. People come from other states come to Punjab to earn a living. Poohla did this so his police officers friends could get higher ranks and then provide support to Poohla in return. For these favors, Poohla received weapons, tractors, automobiles, jeeps, etc. from police officers. These items were usually the property of innocent people who were killed in fake encounters or were the property of soldiers who died fighting for freedom for the Sikh nation. Poohla even received Nishan Sahibs, which were raised in memory of Sikhs who died for Khalistan, from police officers. Poohla usually sold these items to others. Any illegal drug that was caught was also sent to Poohla in government vehicles. Insult of Sikhi Baba Charan Singh took care of Sikh Gurudwaras. Poohla had Charan Singh killed by S.S.P. Ajit Sandhu. After the division of the money with Ajit Sandhu, Poohla’s gang looted everything in the dera. According to Swaranjit Singh, one of Poohla’s nakli (fake) nihungs was saying: “Jathedar Ji! We have taken everyting, should I also bring the (Guru) Granth (Sahib Ji) under my arm?†Swaranjit Singh has told that at one time, Poohla decorated his Svaraj Mazda and placed Guru Granth Sahib Ji in it. This was just a drama as he doesn’t have any respect for Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In reality, he uses his Svaraj Mazda for transporting liquor and other drugs. This car was driven by Poohla in the influence of liquor in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Swaranjit Singh also states that one time Poohla went to Darbar Sahib after drinking liquor. At the gate, security official stopped Poohla and told him not to go in. Poohla pushed him and said foul words. He entered with his government weapons and went to Darbar Sahib and Akaal Takht. Whenever Poohla took over a Gurudwara, he turned it into a fort. On the name of taking care of Gurudwara, he stopped buses, trucks, etc. and told the drivers to collect people from villages. Incase the drivers decide not to return, he kept their vehicle papers with him. No one was paid for oil or for the work someone did for him at the Gurudwara. No complaints were heard against Poohla as the governmental machinery was with him. Learning from him, Poohla’s brother Malkit also collected some policemen and openly looted many buses but no action was taken against him. Rapes A woman named Amriko from Amarkoat supplied girls to Poohla. She was a well known friend of Poohla. Poohla killed many people for her so she could take over lands of people by force. Poohla used his buddy police officers to get her an “Honorable Prize†from the Indian government. According to Swaranjit Singh, Poohla also placed his hands on wives of people in his gang. No one spoke against him in fear. At the start, Poohla had a hobby of having sexual intercourse with old aged women but then his hobby came to young girls. It was atrocious when this monster criminal picked up a 7 year old daughter of a nihung who had come to his dera. The girl’s mother was dead. Poohla took her to the basement in his Complex in village Poohla and raped her all night. The little girl died screaming and crying in pain. When her father opposed, he was beaten up and was forced to run away. Girl’s dead body was cut into small pieces and thrown into the river Beas near Sri Hargobindpur. Everyone who Poohla killed was usually cut into pieces and thrown into this river. When he reached the river, he cut the body into small pieces, and then Poohla threw each piece into the river himself. In the end, he held the head from the hair and threw it hard into the river while saying: “Come on friend … you become the feed for fish.†Then while drugged, he told his drugged up friends: “Don’t catch fish from that area for two to three days … the food which we just fed the fish, let them digest it, we will eat them after.†The tactics Poohla used to torture others were also monstrous. A person was laid belly down and one of Poohla’s gang members was told to sit on the hip. Then the feet of the victim were lifted up. Poohla beat up the victim until his feet were huge with soreness. There was also a member of Poohla’s gang named Wassan (Singh?). He was also known as trap. He was a native of village Bhumboeee. He tied a person’s both hands together at the wrists facing downward. Then he slowly rotated the arms to bring the hands toward the head. The person being tortured cried out loud in pain but no one from the Indian justice system heard the pains. Dayal Singh, son of Mahil Singh, from the same Bhumboeee village had a mare (female horse) that danced. Wassan told Poohla about this horse. Poohla asked for the mare but the poor man had his daily living from the mare. He told Poohla that the mare belongs to his brother. Hearing this, Poohla decided to teach Dayal Singh a lesson. One day Dayal Singh went to sell his wheat crop to the market and from there Wassan fooled him and took him to Poohla. Poohla and Amriko ordered him to be laid down for not giving the mare. Poohla’s thugs started hitting the poor man with the backs of their guns to show their loyalty towards Poohla. He was beaten and repeatedly asked if he was going to give the mare. Dayal Singh kept on saying that the horse belonged to his brother. Getting hit with the guns, his head was now open and Poohla then ordered Wassan to play his trap. Unable to take all the torture, Dayal Singh died on the spot. Dayal Singh’s dead body was also thrown into the river. Poohla and Amriko ordered this torture and were directly responsible for Dayal’s death. Sometimes Poohla repeatedly hit people in the head with the heels of his boots and made their heads bleed. Attacks on Taksal Mehta Chownk Damdami Taksal was raided many times due to Baba Thakur Singh Ji’s personal attendant (Bhai Sukhwinder Singh) and other young men. Baba Resham Singh of Kar Seva was approached by an old Taksali, named Khem Singh, to clear this issue through Poohla. Poohla was also offered some inducement for clearing this issue with police. Poohla asked for the seven youth from Damdami Taksal and they were given to Poohla. Poohla kept on delaying the dismissal of their case with police. Due to this, an admirer of Taksal talked to some high officials in police to dismiss the cases of the seven youth. Poohla was enraged at this. Ajit Sandhu and Paramraj were already looking for these young men. Poohla handed all seven boys over to Paramraj and Sandhu. All seven were killed next day in a fake police encounter. Poohla kept on asking Resham Singh for money but Resham Singh said, “You have gotten the boys killed … Now what should I give you the money for?†Poohla became angry and also had Resham Singh kidnapped and killed by police. Kidnap of Ratinderbir Kaur A top quality and well known Kavisher’s, Bhai Joga Singh’s, grand-daughter Ratinderbir Kaur was only 16 years old when Poohla kidnapped her and made her an object to fulfill his lust. Poohla forcefully picked her up from her house and did not allow her to go back for 4-5 days. Bhai Joga Singh sent telegrams to high officials, chief minister and the DGP (Direct General of Police). DIG Jasminder and SSP from Majitha just kept quiet. No action was taken against Poohla. Even the so-called Akali ministers Sukha Singh Langah and Seva Singh Saikhvaa didn’t do anything against Poohla. At that time, Ratinderbir Kaur hadn’t come home for 2 months. When no one in the government listened, Joga Singh went to High Court. High Court asked the relevant police officers for an answer. The police officers went to Poohla and said, “Now we have to give an answer, find a solution.†Poohla contacted his friend advocate Deepinder Dhillon. He created false marriage papers for under-aged Ratinderbir Kaur. A girl has to be at least 18 to marry in India. Poohla’s friends sent to letter to High Court stating, “The girl has married Poohla under her own will and is living with him under her own will.†After getting away from legal conflicts, he took out his anger at Joga Singh’s grand-daughter. He handed her over to his other thug gang member s and ordered all of them to rape her. Innocent girl was attacked by these sexual predators all night. Swaranjit Singh is the witness to all of this. Taking the assaults from Poohla and his gang, Ratinderbir Kaur developed a mental condition. Ratinderbir Kaur is the daughter of a martyr Singh who died for Sikh freedom. People who had fear of Akaal prayed to Akaal so Poohla’s pitcher of sins could be broken. People prayed for Poohla to be behind bars or dead. Finally one day, Bhai Joga Singh and some other relatives came and took the mental Ratinderbir Kaur with them. A person who lived with Poohla for a short while and had seen the assaults on Ratinderbir Kaur take place came forward and offered to marry Ratinderbir Kaur. Rising against Poohla’s vicious actions, Jathedar Deep Singh and his group members provided protection with their weapons so this wedding could take place. However, Poohla later got this young man entangled in thug brother Malkit’s murder. He probably killed him himself. Poohla’s friend police officers frequently visited him for drinking liquor together. Swaranjit Singh still remembers some of the things they talked about. He remembers one incident and states that at one time Umranangal and Poohla were drinking together and according to Swaranjit Singh, they had the following conversation: Umranangal: “My mother came to me and started crying.†Poohla: “Why ..?†Umranangal: “She read in the newspaper that SP Umranangal escaped a police encounter very closely.†Poohla: “What happened?†Umranangal: “What happened was that we made a fake police encounter in which I shot a bullet barely touching my skin under my arm and then in the newspaper….†Swaranjit Singh says that Umranangal laughed after saying this and then Poohla and his other gang members also burst out laughing. When the security of all those people with security was going down, Poohla contacted his buddy police officers and made a plan. He made a woman who he used for his lust to drink liquefied cannabis drink. When she became unconscious, he tied a time bomb around her and blew her up. He told outsiders that a woman had come to blow him with a bomb just like Rajiv Gandhi was blown up with a bomb by Thannu. Poohla’s security wasn’t decreased due to this. Swaranjit Singh Escapes Swaranjit Singh was now seriously looking for a way out of Poohla’s gang. Another way of calling death was leaving Poohla’s gang. Swaranjit could no longer watch Poohla commit his vicious crimes. Swaranjit Singh made contacts with Jathedar Deep Singh. Poohla had his suspicions too. To place fear into Swaranjit Singh, Poohla beat him and told SSP Sumaid Saini of Chandigarh to take over Swaranjit Singh’s family living in the sector 39-C Gurudwara in Chandigarh. For his family’s safety, Swaranjit Singh delayed his leave for a while and started making plans to rescue his family from Poohla’s trap. Subedar Harbhajan Singh is a building materials provider from the village Ghumman. Poohla had been receiving cement and iron rods from Harbhajan Singh. When Poohla had purchases of around 500,000 rupees, Harbhajan Singh started asking for payment. According to Harbhajan Singh, whenever he went to ask Poohla for money, Poohla had a woman sitting on his lap and Poohla was highly under the influence of alcohol. Under the influence, Poohla asked the girl, “You are the judge … You make the decision … This pervert comes and asks for money everyday.†Poohla used these tactics and didn’t pay Harbhajan Singh anything. One day Harbhajan Singh’s son went into Poohla’s mansion and asked for money. Poohla pushed him out and said, “Sucker … I will shoot you and throw you into the river if you do too much talking.†Harbhajan Singh’s son was so scared that he died three or four days after the threat. Swaranjit Singh tells that the River Department had left a way for the sarovar of Gurudwara Damdama Sahib at Sri Hargobindpur to be filled with fresh water from the river. Poohla has taken over the Gurudwara and is selling the water to local farmers. In 1997, Poohla was charging 325 rupees per hour for water to flow to the farmers’ fields. How much is being charged now is not known. Also in 1997, Akali government came. Even though they were also backing up Poohla, Swaranjit Singh asked Minister Ajit Singh Kohar for help to free his family from Poohla. Ajit Singh met Swaranjit Singh when he Swaranjit Singh had gone to court in Chandigarh for a task which Poohla wanted completed. Swaranjit Singh told Ajit Singh Kohar everything and told him that he wanted to be free from Poohla. Ajit Singh Kohar suggested that Swaranjit Singh free his family first. Somehow Ajit Singh Kohar freed his family from Poohla and appointed SSP from Nawashehar to protect Swaranjit Singh’s family members. Swaranjit Singh left Poohla and started living in his village. Poohla considered the situation and then sent messages to Swaranjit Singh to come back. Poohla tried to bribe Swaranjit Singh and presented him some offers. He offered him to select a dera and told him that he would become the chief of that dera. However, after living in Poohla’s gang for a long time, Swaranjit Singh knew the game which Poohla was trying to play. Poohla wanted him to come so he could kill him too and feed him to the fish in the River Beas. Poohla didn’t want anyone from his gang to leave because the person leaving would know all the crimes that he had committed. Fortunately, Swaranjit Singh didn’t come into his trap again. Then another incident happened. A young nihung named Sukhdev Singh from the same village, Ghumman was also persuaded by Poohla to join his group. Sukhdev Singh left after witnessing the crimes Poohla committed. He left without telling Poohla. Poohla started looking for him. While looking for a job, Sukhdev Singh went to Patiala where he met Paramraj Umranangal. He requested Umranangal: “Sir ..! You also visited Poohla and I used to live there. I will be thankful if you could find me a job in this area as a Granthi at a Gurudwara.†Paramraj made him a promise but on the other hand Paramraj contacted Poohla and asked for advice. After listening to Paramraj, Poohla jumped and said: “Sukhdev Singh from village Ghumman …? He is my hunt… I am coming to get him…†To make two kills with one arrow, Poohla brought Sukhdev Singh to Nawashehar police district and then near a town called Bheraam, he tied Sukhdev Singh to a tree and cut him into small pieces with a sword. Pieces were later thrown at the grave of a Muslim saint. Then some of his loyal police officers started investigating the murder. They turned to Swaranjit Singh and started investigating him but they soon realized that he was innocent. The village council went to police and made them believe that Swaranjit Singh is innocent so village council got him freed from jail. When the finger pointed to Poohla, he had the file closed by his partner police officers. Poohla also looted a truck full of metal rods which were going for Radha Swami dera. Poohla didn’t know that the Radha Swami babas had more power in the Indian government than him. Poohla only has reach up to the state government but Radha Swamis have reach as far as the central government. It took only one call by Radha Swamis that Poohla handed over the materials to Radha Swamis babas while folding his hands. While having power from the Indian government, Poohla sometimes goes over the limit. Therefore, he has to face some depressing times. Poohla has a habit of jumping at expensive things and taking over. This was the case in 2001. He saw a foreign vehicle in his area and took over by force. He also told the riders that people call him Poohla. That vehicle belonged to distanced relatives of India’s Home Minister, Lal Kishan Advani. The owners of the vehicle were nervous and called Advani. Badal was the Chief Minister of Punjab at that time. Advani didn’t care about government of Punjab anyways so he directly called Chief on Punjab police and asked for Poohla. Police Chief told SSP Shashi Prabha from Majitha police to arrest Poohla. Shahsi Prabha surrounded Poohla’s fort and arrested him. Poohla was handcuffed and then given to Delhi police who had come to Chandigarh to take him to Delhi. This made people in Punjab happy but his friends were already in action to get him free. He was freed with the help of his powerful friends. Public Outrage Now as the people’s protests have begun openly against Poohla, the file has been reopened and Poohla has been arrested. After this, other cases have also been opened and investigations have begun. Slowly many more cases will be placed against Poohla. Poohla’s partner police officers and ministers are still trying their best to free him; even though they have not done anything openly to free him. They are helping him greatly in jail. Due to these entities, Poohla is receiving liquor and other drugs openly in jail. Also due to them, Poohla holds a press conference openly while on a trial in court. Poohla also goes to his deras in police vehicles so that his thugs don’t give up and so that his fear remains in public. It is very important that Poohla’s friend officers and ministers are also placed on trial for the crimes that Poohla and they have committed. They have been equally responsible for Poohla’s crimes. 22. Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!! There are actually still people today who have fallen for government propaganda and believe that Jathedar Ji used to kill innocent people and didn't get along with Sant Ji!!! - SHAME ON THEM!!! Sacha Sukha: Shahid Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar - Part 3 Bhai Sukhdev Singh's Relationship With Sant Jarnail Singh Since 1980, the Indian Security Forces had come to know of a youth called Sukhdev Singh, and had began to hunt him. So Bhai Sahib permanently shifted all command operations to Siri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. It was here that stayed from 1980 till 1984. Babbar Khalsa had come into existence here. Sant Jarnail Singh had established the Dharam Yudh Morcha. Bhai Sahib fully supported this movement. He also wished all the youth of Punjab to leave intoxicants and become Sikhs of the Guru. Sant Jarnail Singh ji was also a highly spiritual and visionary Gursikh. He knew since the Shaheedi of Jathedar Fauja Singh, that hard times would fall on Sikhs and they needed to become Shahsterdhari (armed). He also knew anti-Panthik forces would do everything to divide the Sikh Youth to ensure that Sikh demands are not met. The Sikh youth who were brave and full of spirit were in two Jathebandies; - Damdami Taksal and Akhand Kirtani Jatha. During the early 1980s, a meeting occurred between Sant Jarnail Singh ji and Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara. Bhai Amolak Singh was also sent to represent the youth as no organisation had formed at the time of this meeting. In this meeting it was agreed that no issues that divided these two groups would ever be allowed stop the common cause of the Sikh Nation. Later as Babbar Khalsa came into existence, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale held them in high respect, and they are often mentioned in his lectures. Names like Bhai Kulwant Singh Nagoke, Bhai Manjit Singh Babbar are mentioned frequently. Sant Bhindranwale Before Courting Arrest Meeting in Jail When Sant Jarnail Singh ji was in prison after being arrested in Chowk Metha, it was national news. Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Wadhava Singh walked into the police station armed with guns. The police realising who had just walked in, ran for their lives. Bhai Sukhdev Singh asked Sant ji to come with them and continue his Parchaar. Sant Jarnail Singh ji said he appreciated their courage, but has no need to go underground. Sant ji said his release had already been arranged legitimately. Sant Ji respected the way Bhai Sukhdev Singh had quickly dealt with the Nirankaris "7 Sitarees" (their equivalent to our Punj pyares). Also how he had planned how Bhai Ranjit Singh would infiltrate Nirankari Baba Gurbachana house, and numerous other high profile actions. Sacha Sukha (Truthful Sukha) During 1983-84, the security services tried to divided the Singhs. It had been the wish of the security services that Sikh youth fight amongst themselves, creating enemies, and opportunities which could be used to gather information from rivals, and start them eliminating each other. Some infiltrators dressed up as Singhs and robbed a Hindu mans store in Amritsar. They told him to leave Punjab or he will be killed. They pretended to be Sant Bhindranwales men. The distraught hindu shop keeper went to Darbaar sahib, and was told by sangat to see Bhai Sukhdev Singh, who was based at Baba Atal Sahib Gurdwara. Bhai Sukhdev Singh was upset that people are doing this is Gursikhi Baana (clothes), as it gives Gursikhs a bad name. When the Babbar Khalsa Singhs located these infiltrators, Bhai Sukhdev Singh got a laathi, ( a long Danda- wooden stick), tied them upside down from a tree and beat them with it. He made them give all the money back, and told them never to threaten any innocent again. Other infiltrators tried to stoke up the Taksali Singhs against Babbars saying Sukhdev Singh had beat up these Singhs. Many rumours were circulated to get one group against another. Some of these rumours later even got published in books, to ferment differences between the groups. But Sant Ji knew this was not correct, and instead started refering to Jathedar Sukhdev Singh ji as "Saccha Sukha", (The Truthful Sukha). Both Sant Ji and Bhai Sahib knew their fight was not against innocents. Sant ji, too was called in press as a Hindu hater, but facts show he was highly respected by many Hindus. The fight was only against those who choose to destroy Sikhism. Even today, in books written about the Operation BlueStar refer to differences between the two leaders, which are baseless. Sant Logowal and Gurcharan Singh Tohra, both key Akali leaders at that time also sought to divide Sukhdev Singh and Sant ji. They were afraid of the growing prominence of Sant ji and the amount of youth with him. The only person capable of standing against him, who also had a lot of youth with him was Bhai Sahib. So these leaders also indulged in rumour mongering to divide the two Gurmukhs, and associated themselves with the Babbars. Bhai Sahib realised these forces that were at work and so did Sant ji. Both shared a mutual respect and their common cause. However no differences directly arose between the two Gursikhs, despite the attempts of many. Both fought together at Operation Blue Star, as the story continues……… to be continued.... Vaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa, Vaheguroo Jee Kee Phateh!!!
