  1. I see your point even though it is harsh. To be called Panthic we must adhere to all Akal Takht says.
  2. Some old uncle come to my house and got my dad to sign a petition to turn back the decision made by the gudwara to stop parties on their grounds. my dad signed it but he doesnt even go to the gurdwara. my dad drinks and allsorts, he even is stopping me taking amrit but with Guru ji's kirpa i will do it oneday. this uncle is obviously backing the petiton and wants parties at the gurdwara. this cant be aloud. the uncle was a mona guy who i never seen at the gurdwara either. they had a good drink, signed the paper and then off he went. i argued with me dad after but he not listenin. maybe we shud start a petition to keep parties off gurdwara ground.
  3. Breaking News: Temple managers are strugling to keep Harmandar Sahib funded. They have decided to turn the buildings around the parkarma into banqueting/community halls so that people can hire them out for parties. Wedding and birthday parties will be allowed and the occasional Indian disco.
  4. bruv, my opinion is dont bother wasting ur time lighting candles. reraise the awarness back in the sikh community cuz we r the ones who have forgotten the events of 84. i dont think those shaedia were meant for candles to be light 24 years down the line, even though them panthic jathebhandis claim it makes a difference. its a crappy excercise in my view. shahedia took place to build our jevans, its with the kirpa of these shaheeds that we still have Gurujis grace. if our jevan r still kachay then no amount of candle lightings gonna change that or benefit us. I understand what you are saying. We should be doing alot more than we do. It is pathetic that I have to come on some internet site and wonder whether anyone will do anything to keep the light going or try and achieve justice. In our own community we hold kirtan darbars which dont have no parchaar about what Sikhs have gone through. It is still good as we get laha from the sangat and kirtan, but we should make that extra effort. All I would say is doing a candlelight vigil does not take anything away from our jeevan. We can do both. Lets look at other ideas too. What else can/should we do?
  5. Is there any candle light vigils this year?
  6. I think we should hold protests agianst these manmat people. I have been to a couple of protests in my time and thought they went really well. It can be done. We just have to understand what the reason is that we are there. If our elders come along and the sensible ones kinda control the young ones then we can do it. Lets try to be positive and do ardas to Maharaj.
  7. How dare he say those words. My dad said his name is Amajit Bachu and he is a solicitor or something. I heard about these gigs too. We need to do something about this.
  8. I should have been there. I have read all the posts and think we should all support these events.
  9. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Thank you for all your replies to my post. What should be the disciplinary procedure at a camp?
  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, What is the point of camps? Why do we hold them? What do we intend to achieve? I have been to a few now and come across different things. Wondering what you all think.
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, These manmukhs need to learn that they cannot use our Guru as a means for thier power struggles. Slowly they will get the message, but we need to keep going.
  12. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh. This sounds like a good opportunity to discuss the kirpan issue. It is a big thing in Canada. Might be an idea to deal with it now here before it becomes a problem.
  13. Kirtan Darbar on Saturday 25th February from 8.30pm 'til late. Gurdwara Dasmesh Darbar, Rosebery Avenue, Manor Park, East London. Please do your best to attend.
  14. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Prem Ji I can see how my post may have been taken in a intimidatory way but that is not what I meant it to do. I was merely stating everybody should have someone to answer to. Committees are not scared of or do not answer to our Guru, so it is upto the Sangat to act. I agree we should not need to threathen or bash people, we should explain their errors and help change things. So long as we all do something I don't care what route you take. I can't stand people criticising others and not actually doing anything themsleves. Too many people criticised the Respect for Guru Granth Sahib Ji campaign yet did nothing themselves to offer an alternative. This seems like someone has got off their backside and is trying. Lets all make this our responsibility.
  15. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh. It is really important we understand who our Guru is. We have stopped worshipping our Guru and instead worship money, seats, power and alike. All these problems are due to a lack of belief and understanding. We have no fear and feel we are answerable to no one. It is good that people have started getting off their backsides and actively doing something about the lack of respect. It is time the Gurdwara committees had someone to answer to. It is time we strike fear into their hearts.
  16. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh. I agree we need to stay calm in these situations. When you email them just state that it is causing offence to you. Any other ideas?
  17. Dear Sikh Brothers and Sisters, Please write, fax, email or phone James Plaskitt (the Leamington Spa and Warwickshire MP who was present at the Sharaab Party in the Gurdwara) - and ask him to condemn the use of the Gurdwara premises for the purposes of drinking alcohol and eating meat. If you wish, you could use the draft letter below: "Dear Mr. Plaskitt, I am writing to express my deep concern at recent media reports which indicated that you may have been present at Leamington Spa Gurdwara on Saturday 12 November at a 'party' during which alcohol and meat were served. As you will be aware, the consumption of alcohol and meat is completely prohibited in the Sikh faith and to bring such substances onto the premises of a Gurdwara (within which Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji dwells) is a grave insult. In the circumstances, I hope you will publicly condemn the activities that took place at the Gurdwara and recognise the deep offence it has caused to the Sikh community worldwide. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely [Name] Singh/Kaur" Contact James Plaskitt Labour MP: Constituency Office: First Floor 2A Leam Terrace Leamington Spa CV31 1BB Tel: 01926 831 151 / 0207 219 6207 Fax: 01926 338 838 E-mail: mp@jamesplaskitt.com ALSO CONTACT: President: Saghera Sahota Gurdwara Sahib Leamington & Warwick 17A/B Queensway Estate Queensway Leamington Spa CV31 3LZ 01926 424 297 Ask them to apologise to the sangat and then resign.
  18. At last leaders have broken silence. My mum has been putting pressure on our local Gurdwara to write to Lemington Gurudwara and James Plaskitt the MP. Last night she showed them the Panjab Times article and other sangat who didnt know. They have agreed to write a letter.
