URGENT Breaking News Bhai Joga Singh Nihang and his father have been arrested by Punjab Police Bhai Joga Singh the young Nihang Singh who attacked Giani Mal Singh, Jathedar of Sri Kesgarh Sahib has been arrested along with his father in the past few hours. This is totally unacceptable as Bhai Joga Singh Nihang was illegally tortured by the SGPC task force and then by the Police in two separate Police Stations. Giani Mal Singh openly stated that he would not be pressing charges against Bhai Joga Singh Nihang so this disturbing news coming out of Punjab is very concerning to the Sikh diaspora. It is even more disturbing that his father is now been illegally detained by Punjab Police. This comes following the recent media coverage of Bhai Sahib saying he is in Chardi Kala after being tortured. JAMMU, India (June 4, 2015)—A Sikh youth named Bhai Jagjit Singh was killed in police firing during a protest over removal of a poster of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Jammu on Thursday. The firing also left two more Sikh youth injured seriously. Meanwhile, a red alert has been sounded in Amritsar following police firing on Sikh protesters in Jammu. The Sikh youth converged on Satwari-RS Pura road and blocked traffic in protest against the removal of Sant Bhindranwale’s posters put up by Sikh organisations about his martyrdom being observed on June 6. Police resorted to lathicharge and teargas shelling toward them. Sikhs also raised slogans of ‘Khalistan-Zindabad’. Members of the Sikh community had put up posters of Sant Bhindranwale and some other Sikh martyrs yesterday on Satwari-RS Pura road here ahead of a programme to pay tribute to him. Station House Officer (SHO) of Satwari Police Station removed the posters, triggering protests from Sikh youths. Protests are continuing as the agitators are demanding suspension of the SHO for removal of the posters. The killing of Sikh youth triggered huge outrage among Sikhs throughout the world against Indian state. VIDEO: SGPC GIVES TEA TO POLICE AND HANDCUFFS TO SIKHS (DSU News Bureau) SGPC has shown it doesn’t support Sikh causes. An estimated 250 strong task force was out in full force to arrest Sikhs from the morcha of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. Hundreds were arrested near Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali on their way to Punjab CM Parkash Badal’s home. SGPC task force prevented Sikhs from entering Gurdwara Amb Sahib. 5 buses were loaded full of arrested Sikhs. The police and task force prevented Sikhs from reaching Badal’s home. (DSU News Bureau) Over 250 Singhs and Kaurs were arrested near Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali. The Sikhs were headed to Punjab CM Badal’s home in Chandigarh to protest for the release of Sikh political prisoners who’ve served their terms. However, the Punjab Police rounded the Sikhs up and arrested them. As shown in the pictures and videos the women were harassed by lady constables. Many of the people who were arrested were regular sangat who was visiting Gurdwara Amb Sahib. The morcha has taken a critical turn after the state government refuses to listen to the demands of the Sikhs or even engage in a conversation with the representatives of Bapu Surat Singh. Bapu Surat Singh has been on hunger strike for 124 days. AMRITSAR SAHIB (May 5, 2015)—A video showing violation of Sikh Rehat Maryada by Akali leaders has gone viral on social media sites. This video is from year 2008 from the village Rodewal of Distt. Patiala. The video shows various politicians imposing Tilak on Sri Guru Granth Sahib on the occasion of 300th Gurtagaddi Diwas at Gurdwara Baba Biram Dass. General Secretary of Akali Dal (Badal) and Member Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Prem S. Chandumajra, Akali leader Surjit Singh Rakhra, former Central Minister Praneet Kaur, Cabinet Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa could be seen performing this ritual. In addition, Panj Pyare are seen placing ‘Naarials’ (coconuts) in front of Guru Granth Sahib. It is notable that politicians also write something on Guru Granth Sahib Ji, however it’s not very clear from the video exactly what is being written. Sikh24 earlier contacted Chandumajra to get clarification about the incident, he however denied his participation alleging that he doesn’t know whether this was in accordance of Sikh Maryada or not.
