    Kindly Help

firstly before you start you could trying doing an Ardas to Waheguru ji and ask for support as this will give you confidence that maharaj is with you and you can do it ! Also have a think about this shabad "Man Beche Satgur Ke Paas" :lol2: sell your mind which is full of queries and worries, to the true guru so every time you think about something just tell yourself "my minds not mine, I've sold it to the True Guru and its his worry now. He has paid me for my mind with peace" also when these thoughts come into your mind and your doing simran such as waheguru jaap, call out waheguru jis name like you'd call out "muuuummmmmm!!!!" call for help and support and im sure he'll come to the rescue. Don't ever let yourself stop doing sew or simran because their very important elements in a Gursikhs life, it may take a lot of forcing yourself to get ebck into teh routine and as you said that it agev you peace so you are aware of the rewards. Keep that in minds Guru Nanak Dev ji said that "sewa and simran are like the wings of a Sikh, without them he cannot fly" but remember pen ji, this is a two way thing step one step towards the guru and the guru will step a million steps towards you! Bhul chuk maaf ji
  4. hahahhahah stop it now! you're really maing me laugh :lol2: and yeah I am
  5. oh hooooooooo acha jii :biggrin2: ham nahee changay buraa nahee ko-ay. I am not good; no one is bad. antar vasai na baahar jaa-ay. Deep within the self, the Lord abides; do not go outside looking for Him. tusi jo chaho kar sakde a bas rabb te parosa rakho and search for waheguru ji inside you, lokha da tyan na rakheo. Saare apni apni samaj de saab naal good bannan di try karde a. rehni rahe soi sikh mera ehde vich Guru ji ne both cheja te emphasise kita a, both good sikh at heart and actions as well as the rehat of keeping hair/5k's
  6. veer ji add things like Sewa in Sikhism "Cursed are those hand who do not perform good deeds" khalsa aid, Sikhs promote sewa equality this is shown in khalsa aid as it helps all and this is done all by volunteers! they follow the teaching of Guru Gobind Singh Ji "recognise the human race as one" Tolerance of other religions Guru Nanak Dev ji had two friends bhai Bhala ji and Bhai Mardana ji who were Muslim and Hindu which shows the Sikh tolerance of all religions. On this topic you can add that the 6th Guru, Guru Hargobind ji helped make a mosque for muslims as they had no where to pray and Guru TeghBhadhar ji gave his life to defend the Hindus and allow them to have the right to worship freely. Sikhism has Teachings for all Guru Nanak Dev ji said if your a muslim be a good muslim, if your a hindu be a good hindu similarly the same message is given to Sikhs some may ask about the kirpan etc and you could explain that the reason why only amritdahri sikhs have a kirpan is because they have that mentality to use it wisely and are following the path of the Gurus. the kirpan is only there to defend their faith and their rights and the rights of others. Its normally used as a last resort.
  7. Yes Guru Nanak Dev ji did lay down many rules which built up to the khalsa for example " one who calls himself a sikh of the Guru, shall rise in the morning (amrit vela) and meditate on the lords name!" Similarly Guru Nanak Dev ji also said that "in the end only the pure shall last (Khalsa) and shall sit on thrones" So basically my point simply is that nobody ever should divide the teachings of the Gurus because all the teachings link to each other with one motive behind them - the formation of the Khalsa! Bhul chuk maaf, im just a humble das, servant of Guru ji :smile2:
  8. haha thats true about a laraku women! but i think the typical desi bibi is more laraku than a singhi who fights for their religion and rights rather than "tu mere suit bareh ki keha ?(pushes her down the stairs)" :drop: i know a lot of amritdhari boys who very intellectual and intelligent and do far better than other boys because they're not too busy running around girls instead they keep abit of anakh (pride). And singhs are usually more well-built and realistic instead of some typical Pappu party boy :strong: but yeah always two sides to a coin! :biggrin2:
  9. A few days back when i was at the gurdwara, the Giani Singh had been explaining two shabads, sitting at the gurdwara i felt i should recite these shabads daily. So i decided that i would 2 big maala's of these shabads everyday. Then down at the langar hall i changed to 2 small maalas! And on the way home i decided that i was only going to do 1 small maala of 1 shabad. :blush2: This reminded me of a saaki i had heard before which was about a gursikh who was climbing a tree to get some ripe fruit to eat. He was finding it difficult to get this fruit so in his mind he thought- "if i get to eat the fruit i will give a sant 100 loe-yan (man version of a shawl)." So as expected he ate the fruit which was at the top of the tree, on the way down his mind changed and he thought "i worked hard to climb the tree why should sant ji get 100 loe-yan, ill just give 50" Then on the way to the shop he thought "winters nearly gone, ill just buy 10 loe-yan" Eventually arriving at the shop his mind decieted him and he said "1 loe is enough!" After this he ran to the sant and into the darbar where the sant were doing katha and told them to "put the loe on straight away." The sant asked "why whats the hurry" and the man explained the whole story and said "im worried that if you dont take the loe now, in a few minutes my minds going to persuade me to take this 1 loe away aswell" :sprint: Basically the moral of this saaki, i feel, is that your mind is totally untrustworthy, ehda kuch pata ni kado change ho jana. So if you think of something good just do it straight away without thinking about it too much. Where as when you think of something bad keep thinking about it and avoid doing it, apne man nu samjao k "chad man'na kalnu karageh" :mellow2: Bhul chuk maaf ji
  10. hahahahhahhahah ! didn't think of that ghar jamai one :D
  11. Yeah that's true! the worst thing is you actually see many girls who want to take amrit but are stopped for this reason that - its harder to find rishte! and then later they loose interest or get side tracked by other things as once you start doing things like removing hair, it just gets harder and harder to stop! I've met many Sikh women who have told me that they wanted to be amritdhari when they were young but weren't allowed because of marriage issues and now the ambition to be amritdahri is just "something ill do before i die" lol bhul chuk maaf ji :smile2:
  12. Yeah that's true! Me myself I who belongs to a gursikh family kept my hair on my head but still continued to remove other hair! Pata ni kyu, as a girl you just genuinely get this feeling that as long as your keeping the hair on your head, its not that bad if you remove other hair which I've finally accepted it TOTALLY WRONG! :stupidme: I suppose girls have more pressure put on them by society to look good, I mean majority of men turn their face away from 'hairy' girls or its seen as very funny if a girl has a tiny bit of extra hair. I deeply have so much respect of these Sikh women who stand up to society and are proud of the extra bit of hair they have. The bibiyan pehna who are lucky like me that don't have much facial hair anyway have no excuse! And the make up !!! I think that's partly because of the elder women in our families as they'll be like "thora jeha lah la, surki bindi, mooh chajj da lagu" and this will be said EVEN IF YOUR AMRITDAHRI i mean what happened to NATURAL BEAUTY LOL  Salwaar suits are loosing the battle against the western mini skirts or jeans which i cant undertand why because i think salwaar suits are amazing!
  13. WJKK WJKF, yeah and Kaurs such as Mai Bhago proved it by fighting in the battles alongside Singhs. Similarly the Kaurs who defended themselves in 1984 is amazing too. Sometimes I just don't know why the kaurs of today under estimate themselves (including me at times)
  14. haha pa jiiiiiiiiii its singh bina ni king !!!!!!! :biggrin2: A Singh is a true king because he is the master/king of his desires, emotions and actions, and technically many people cannot control themselves so yeah Singh di v Taur a haha
  15. aww sweet! I know how your feeling lol ! But when you feel worried about if you've done your Ardas right or wrong, just remember this Shabad by Guru Nanak Dev Ji on Ang 1420 of Sri Guru Granth Shaib Ji "Vin Boliya Sabh Kichh Jaandaa Kis aagaye keejeiye ardaas." :respect: He knows everything, without being told; unto whom should we offer our prayers? Im not saying don't do Ardas because je rabb toh ni manga tha hor kehde toh mangna, Gods the giver so do ask but just leave the worrying to him. "Man Beche Satgur Ke Paas" :lol2: sell your mind which is full of worries, to the true guru Bhul chuk maaf and good luck im sure you'll do brilliant :smile2:
  16. I think some people rush into taking amrit, sometimes its a good thing but sometimes they just get lost in the hype. When the friends or peers they got excited with and took amrit with, get on with their lives, the patits themselves are sometimes not very strong and start loosing interest. I know its good to have the support of saadh sangat but apni research and apna personal relationship rabb naal banona v bohat important a ! Because in the end your going to be alone and this is the point where I feel some Sikhs go on to be patits as they cant bare the societies pressure or control their mind. Whereas if a Gursikh learns about sikhi and understands the deep meanings, pyar will be created within them and they will jap naam, fir eseh naam ne tuhanu har ik problem vicho pass kara dena a :waheguru:
  17. well actually ive noticed one thing k je kuri amritdhari hoveh she'll always want an amritdhari husband but eho jehe amritdahri singh v hai jo app singh ne par wife gori mem a LOL basically many singhs get married to ordinary keshdhari/sehajdhari girls. That's why many parents don't let their daughters take amrit before marriage because they also notice this, that its much harder for a amritdhari GIRL to find a partner... well this is what I've seen baki bhul chuk maaf ji
  18. OMG yeah! :smile2: like Narnia has some sort of Christian story in it ! Its about salvation! like how jesus dies to save others is shown via one of the characters when they die to save other ! I think it was the lion ? that's if there was a lion in it ? haha personally I think its quite amazing hunna ? really good way of promoting the story ! good on Christians with that idea :respect:
  19. yes and kaur bina singh v nahi ! EQUALITY remember haha jadh time aunda rabb bad toh bad person di v sochni change kar dinda a! All we need is Guru jis grace.
  20. You know what we as Sikh girls are so lucky that our father Guru Gobind Singh ji :l: is so benevolent and loves exactly the way he loves his Singhs! We'd probably think of this briefly and thinks its normal, well I use to until I researched a bit and found out this: originally as we know in the patriarchal society women were oppressed and one way of doing this was to pin them down to a man. So before a girl is married she has the surname of the father (as she is dependent on the father) and later after marriage she takes on the name of the husband. This reinforced the idea of women being the property of men. This was also carried out by many religions, for example : (satguru kirpa kare, im not doing nindeya just saying  ) The hindu law/hierarchy maker MANU- claimed that women should never be independent, hence things like sati were important :onfire: . The women should die if the husband dies! The Christian creation story- Eve was made out if Adams spare rib which makes her subjective to males. where as our father Guru Gobind singh ji created the khalsa- where women are given the name Kaur and equal rights. The surname kaur remains the same before and after marriage, this means that women are not dependent on men and DO HAVE the ability to be independent. Also just some extra info, the word KURI originally came from the word KOOH-RAH meaning rubbish. This was because people disrespected women and thought they were rubbish and inferior to men and doormats. However Guru Gobind Singh ji followed Guru Nanak Dev jis teachings of "why call her bad, who gives birth to kings" and said that Girls are not rubbish, they are princesses - KAUR! :khalsa: So please Sikh bibiyo pehno apni keemat jaano and kaim rakho apni taur by using the surname Kaur :waheguru:
  21. this is why its important to be amritdhari and a tyar bar tyar Sikh so you can stand up for yourself, your faith and others. Many people now-a-days think that the kirpan is just symbolic and the government won't allow you to use it as it'll be against the law. However what about when the government turns on YOU ? I'm not saying that turn into a violent maniac but what I am saying is learn the skills of self defence that Guru Gobind Singh ji emphasises so much, so if ever you do find yourself in the situation where you need to be at defence, you are ready ! Bhull chuk maaf ji :smile2:
  22. :biggrin2: waheguru ji cares about us more than we think!
  23. I've actually realised that the kanga is just seen to a simple wooden comb that is to look after our kesh but what many are unaware of is it has great significance to a gursikhs life and nature. A kanga is symbolic of a gursikhs nature. The rehat maryada tells us that it is important to do the kanga in our kesh 2 times a day. I was told that firstly in the morning when doing your kanga talk to yourself and your Guru about not wanting to hurt anyone throughout the day. Just as you take care and avoid pulling any healthy hair out similarly think about not wanting to upset anyone unnecessarily and at night when doing the kanga again reflect back on your day, have you hurt anyone ? This notion of doing your kanga should also reflect your nature as when you do your kanga you look after the good and healthy hair and the kanga takes out the old and weak hair so when you look at someone, what you do is adopt and 'look after' their good action/behaviour and remove their bad. As result you will be taking the good out your life and leaving the bad behind. This little bit of time spent with your kanga is so important as many human worries can be removed simply by reflecting back on yourself, which In todays modern world we simply do not have enough time to do. When a gursikh will look back and analyse their day and themselves he/she will be happier as your flaws will prevent ego and mistakes will give the solutions to your problems. Finally it will create happiness. We also use our kanga to clean and tidy our hair which is symbolic of a clean and tidy life. Doing our kanga 2 times a day allows us to love and groom ourselves, this does not mean we are being manmukh (self centred) instead we are allowing ourselves to accept natural beauty and thank god for his precious gift. bhul chuk maaf :khalsa:
  24. waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh Thank you :biggrin2: I write many of my sikhi experiences in poems, so that I actually take time to think about them and can look back and remember the feeling exactly how it was back then :waheguru: Bhul chuk Muaaf Ji
