  1. I figure there are two ways ... 1. Apply some kinda Gel (Problem arrives when you go swimming) 2. Have a free Flowing beard (Tried this - have free flowing beard in all directions) So question 1. How do all of you manage your beard while swimming. some quick and easy tip? 2. All those with free flowing beards - How do you set your beards ? WHat all do you do to manage your beard and put it in the right shape ? Thanks a lot in Anticipation... If you smart guys have pics please post them online as well....
  2. Hey Rockak ! Dude nothing like it !! NO NO NO NO WAY. This is all by accident nothing planned ! 1. Congress wasnt expected to win this election, let alone a sikh become a PM! 2. In india people have sad memories of Bluestar, but its in the past for most. There was no reason what so ever for Congess to win over Sikhs. Its like it is not important enough fr the sinking congress party. Bhul chuk maaf 3. Manmohan is the only guy Sonia could trust ! Rest could have taken the power away from her. Theres a story of his honesty. When he was the Finance minister, he devalued the rupee. Then he realised this way he would be getting more money out of his US pension which was in dollars. So he called up the World bank and told them to give him his pension at the older exchange rate - so he doesnt make any extra money !
  3. Can be so easily applied to life as well ... Well said mate ... point taken to heart today !
  4. WHatever she might say - one BIG word - "Elections" and another one if you didnt get the point - "Votes". Bhul chuk maaf
  5. Yeah i think, if all the existing Gursikhs be role models for others - showing to the others , how this is the way to live ... the problem would be solved!
  6. i was just reading a few posts and the importance of our hair always remains a hot topic - heres my take - from all the people i have seen cutting their hair. Okay now everybody knows - this is what GuruGobindSinghji told us do. So that should be enough - However ... All the weak souls who think their personality cant pull them through in life - get hair cut ! People who think - their appearance pulls them back in life - and People who cant stand up and be the sikh Guru Gobind Singh Ji wanted us to be , get their hair cut ! So its just how strong you are inside. Nothing else. Bhul chuk maaf - no offence meant - but if it does happen , i am sure you would have an answer ? Would love to hear all your replies ...
  7. A real shame ! :umm: But i guess by now he wuddave realised what a fool he made of himself ...and hopefully learn from it ... bhul chuk maaf... And guys Well this is how i see it - youth in india try their best to merge into the crowd ... by cutting their hair ...and keep their faith inside themselves. Ofcourse these are the weak souls who think their appearance pulls them back. When you are in US say - you are already seperated from the crowd - cutting your hair or whatever wunt get you into the mass. so your faith grows with this realisation. well probably sounds crazy but this i s what i think
  8. Though i too come from a family that has all gursikhs... My parents are pretty open to whom i marry. They say if you fall in love - then it doesnt really matter. However as a group of young guys and gals, staying in a society where the number of gursikhs are pretty few and diminishing..some of us friends talked about it some time back....here's what we feel... A SIKH SHOULD MARRY A SIKH 1. It is difficult enough for parents now a days to give time to their children and get them involved into a religion and faith. If you expect them to follow the various customs of two seperate religions and simultaneously understand both well it would be tough. Maybe they can pick up best points of both - however expecting a kid to attend the church and the gurudwara both and give equal attention and devotion to both is impractical. After all hes a kid - not a to-be sadhu. 2. Marrying in your own faith keeps it simple and straight - you cant expect a sikh guy/girl to stand in a mandir and do puja in front of a murti ,with his hubby , because that is where our religion started from ! You just cant expect a sikh to go back 500 centuries and start practising the same customs - trying to beat which sikhism came about ! Its so simple - you marry another sikh - you can pray together, you grow in Sikhi together, you can pass it on to your kids, nice and easy. 3. We are all very proud of our religion and it would hurt to see the richness of Sikhism, not being transferred to the next generation. I am sure other people would still have arguments- so go to your nearest Gurudwara and wait till a gursikh family comes about. All yo ur doubts will be cleared. Bhul Chuk Maaf
  9. and why would you feel that way ? I mean you are the way you are cod God made you that way....so you are definitely worth a lot !
  10. Hey natsilahk thats really nice to hear... I think you know that you will have to do Nitnem everyday... so just go through the banis once...bcos i mean if you dont agree with the whole ideology ...it will be difficult for you to do that ... Maybe you can start of with the translations of Japji sahib... http://www.sikhnet.com/sggs/translation/0001.html or http://boloji.com/sikhism/japujisahib/index.htm This is an introduction to Japji Sahib by a non-sikh, who fell in love with the bani... Bhul chuk maaf if you already know all this... all the best
  11. Well !!! Ok My answer was built around a very strong faith, os probably difficult for you to accept. I am kind of in a saturated state of mind rite now - but i will reply back to you ! Bhul cuk maaf.
  12. Okay this probably requires somebody good at explaining things, but i will give my few cents. Being a Khalsa - you gotta do Path, and read Shri Guru Granth Sahib, right ? Now if you get up every moring and do japji - you start the day understanding fully where you are in this universe - understand who is supreme. It makes you humble - which is a good thing. You have no tensions because you know - the supreme power is making it all happen and he can do no wrong. You just do your work well, which is all that matters. So even if things go wrong you have the belief which you reminded yourself of in the morning that it is all according to the will of God and you never feel bad... As they say - you should have a positive outlook to life... I think everybody can do with the belief of God ! Bhul Chuk Maaf.
  13. WOW ! Its one of the strangest things i have ever heard. But i really respect you for coming out with the exactly what you feel. and you do make some sense. WHat exactly so you like about khalsa...do you believe in a greater force if not God ?
  14. Why are so many of us "Gursikhs" still not armitdharis ? We all know that is the path Guru Gobind Singhji told us to follow. How can we simply not do something he told us to do ? More so for all of us "Keshdharis" - when did we ever so comfortably settle into the mindset that not being an amritdhari is OK. Isnt it as bad a thing as getting rid of your Kesh ? If our Kesh is a blessing given to us by Guru Gobind SIngh ji - so is being a Khalsa. Most people say - its BETTER NOT to be an amritdhari - THAN TO BE an amritdhari who drinks or does "bad" things. Well, i think when you were born a sikh, when you decided tie a turban, the whole world knows, that you are the son of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. If you do something bad - its bad even then. I mean Guru Gobind Singh ji DID NOT make these two classifications for all his sons and daughters : Group A (Non- Amritdhari Sikhs) : People with mild self control. They can eat anything, drink what they want. But they will be my dear kids always. Group B (Amritdhari Sikhs) : You guys are not allowed any of meat and any drinking ever. I will love you more than everybody else. Nope. No way. He just showed us the right way of life, i fail to understand why we are selectively following what we were told to do. Beats me.
  15. Bhul chuk Maaf...Bhul chuk Maaf....Bhul chuk Maaf WHAT is naam simran ? ...isnt it taking Gods name and thinking about him ...somebody please elaborate on this ... i've always been fuzzy about it ! I know its very important - but dunno how to go about it. Has anybody of you been doin it regularily...?... and how ?
  16. http://www.tribuneindia.com/2004/20040401/main8.htm Tohra was to turn 80 on September 24 this year. His wife Joginder Kaur is a simple woman who stays back in family home in the village. Known for his honesty, Tohra still owns an ordinary house in the village and small chunk of land that he got as a share from his ancestral property.
  17. Have been watching the series and believe me - there was a lot of love floating around till the score was 2-2. People sitting and waving flags together, it was scene to watch ! Its been changing since they've started losing badly, and let India win the first test there after 1952 , you can expect the overblown love and peace and harmony to fall very quickly back to place !
  18. Well when Guru Gobind Singhji blessed us with our present avatar - he wanted a sikh to be distinguishable and identifiable in a lakh. We are supposed to be distinguished and held responsible for all our actions. When Fauja Singh completes a marathon at 92, the newspapers mention - "Adidas signs up 92 year old Sikh for ad campaign". We have an identity, so thats bound to be mentioned. Perhaps not enitirely in context but my few cents. Bhul Chuk Maaf.
