  1. more like he is the selfish offspring himself (marrying to a catholic in church) so it would cause him to thin of his own karams and their impact on his folks
  2. Guru ji hukam that a Singh should never eat from the earnings of his sister or daughter
  3. I think it is a nostalgia thing , they think now the whole scene will return to the pre independence ways of sufi peoples smiling and being open again ...but no-one steps into the same river twice as they say ,jo beet gia so beet gia ...now the new Kashmir will be full of fear and hatred of Indian and sikhs
  4. bro even if they were from Jammu didn't mean they had nothing to with Kashmir ...that was my point
  5. Guru Gobind Singh ji was attacked by two pathan assassins Jamshed Khan and Wasil Beg under the orders of Wazir Khan of sirhind and got stabbed by one of the assailants. Bahadur Shah sent his European surgeon to help Guru ji as the wounds were not closing . Cleaned and stitched up Guru ji's wounds but Gursikhs knew that the time for Guru ji's Jyoti jyot was coming soon . Guru ji was feeling better and seemed to be making a recovery when sikhligar sikhs from Hyderbad came to do bheta of shastars including Bows . Remember Guru ji Kamaan was 9 tanki normally (which would have taken 225kg strength to pull back) these new bows were similarly strong and of course the kaligars wanted Guru ji to try to pull back the string to see if it was parvaan . In this effort , Guru Pita ji ripped his stitching open again.
  6. Mata Sahib Kaur Academy was housed in a building which was mortgaged against a sewadar's home so what happened there wasn't enough sangat and chardava to cover bills ... they should have gone to sangat much more at Gurdwara but the fact is the Gurdwara committee wasn't investing in youth so parents tried to do it for the kids at the Academy . Everytime I go past the building and see the nursery sign it pains me to think the efforts put it to improve the building all to sell it onwards ...
  7. giving money is not the same as actually doing the sewa , as my Grandfather used to tease us 'karlo Guru ki sewa , milju mewa' , there is a real problem in Gurdwarey that the youth have not been given the chance to take the sewa and learn so now the oldies are passing on and there is no one to man the Pangat or make up Sangat, soon the smaller gurdwarey will have to close like the churches in this country and that is shameful . It shouldn't be felt it is only Guru's ghar but our Pita ji's ghar in other words our spiritual home where we meet all OUR family.
  8. Sounds like an encounter and it is a good thing you thought of doing simran in that time , like Simran Bhain ji I would agree carry on with the simran and maybe do some other rakhia de shabad if you still feel rattled .
  9. Bibi ji why are you still harping on ...I told you the exact instruction was to use only in wartime situations so those who use it otherwise need to rethink if they are going against rehit of Shaheedi Degh, as for WIne you are insisting on dragging this in ... so again sikhs have used alcohol to disinfect wounds ,in the battlefield . I'm pretty sure that the English Surgeon who Stitched Guru Pita ji's wounds would have used alcohol to disinfect his needle etc ...did you hear any objections from any side against this use?
  10. do you have objections to Bhai Chaupa SIngh ji who was hazoori sikh of Guru Gobind Singh ji? You seem to have forgotten that I qualified its use only in war as medicine , which we are not in, yet http://tarnadal.com/site/shaheedi-degh/
  11. Guru Gobind SIngh ji knew Guru ji's agaia because of Ad Granth as well as hukamnama , so why would he Tell gursikhs to use sukhnidan for medicine if they were going to negate their bhagti , answer me ...
  12. explain to me How Guru Hargobind ji's agaia was disregarded by Guru Gobind Singh ji? it wasn't in the way you believe so just calm down and stop with mudslinging
  13. bhainji I am so happy your gurdwara has full parband on this important sewa, but most gurdwarey are lax ...Santheiya starts with baal updesh to learn alphabet and moharne and sakhiyan and shaheedan di sakhian. But outside of southall/slough birmingham/derby it is patchy at best .
  14. I know from my own life I used to love love love langar sewa and bartan sewa as a kid , making rotian etc ..in fact, I cannot understand the canteen style langar scheme how are we supposed to visualise serving Guru ji in the form of sangat : Can you honestly see Guru Nanak Dev ji standing in line shuffling along tray in hand ?? The point of langar was to serve the unfortunate and outcasts as Kings /Rabb di roop by seating them on clean place and serving by hand ,asking them with love . My own kids begged to go do sewa the first time they tried it .. maybe that is the key have qualified sewadars in cpr first responder status mentoring sewa jathey of little ones
  15. There is the world of difference between Medicinal use of shaheedi degh and Bhang ...sharam kar those who drink bhang do it to get high to do bad karams ...Singhs used do dharam yudh then drink shaheedi degh . Yes those who misuse the medicine as shield for their druggie habits will have something to be scared of
  16. more obesity and hyperactive kids ? no ta ... more naam. more kiddie sangat programs, more kiddie sewa jathas
  17. one problem is the punjabi teaching is seperated from Gurbani and sikhi ,the second is usually the teacher is not rehitvaan Gursikh which Guru ji said we should learn from , Some people are lucky they can learn from family members who are as well but most cannot, the third problem is paying the teacher means doesn't matter if kids progress to them as long as there are kids stuck in the classroom to justify their wage the teacher is happy. I never learnt in Gurdwara class but from volunteers teaching in junior school classroom at local schools on Saturday. They were amritdhari and I think they took their duties seriously because they always tried to bring it back to Sikhi . In fact they had Gurmat camp in the summer which we attended in Wolverhampton and all the kids used their gurmukhi skills to do kirtan, ardas and paat. It was great. My kids spent three years in Gurdwara class and they still were not confident in their gurmukhi at the end . I honestly think it is better to put them in santhiya class first then they will get Guru ji's blessings and exposure to Gurbani and they can do vichar as they go .
  18. if we are to reflect Akal Purakh we have to accept both sides of our nature the female and male i.e. we come into balance in the end within Bani. Jobs will remain jobs anyone can do them ...
  19. I think perhaps you are asleep the past ten years people are returning to washable nappies because of the numerous chemicals in disposables , the hundreds of years that each one takes to break down (400 years plus) . Yes I did return to washable because having twins I realised how much damage it does to the planet when they were babies . Now with washing machines and dishwashing machines this domestic tasks are not that heavy duty . I trained ALL my kids on care symbols for clothing and they all know how to operate the machines etc . My thinking is this ...the kind of men that are needed in the world you can only create from kids i.e. those you look after , I don't want to hear from my sons and daughters in law in the future that my kids are not able to help them out . It is equal field in our house because ALL Guru ji's children should be self-reliant and capable. Not everyone eats from the dodgy takeaway shops ...health is something
  20. and of course aab e hiyat ...meaning water of life or Amrit
  21. but they got kashmir for doing ghadari of sikh kaum from Angrez
  22. really where? personally men seem to be in a fantasy that women go into raptures looking at piles of bartan, kapradey waiting to be washed.... just like you it doesn't do for us , but we don't wash today and live on the event for next year, 'remember i do the dishes too ' 'one night in 1999 doesn't count'
  23. without changing our minds , our daughters will always be at risk in the womb, in the married life and when she is pregnant ... our daughters are not burdens but this consumer madness cheapens their value in the guy's families eyes.
  24. Here's the full lecture he's referring to: I've been to loads of Gursikh weddings done in the simple style at the end of rensabhais during the eighties and they are really beautiful
  25. but also they are the effects of the observer on those events as per QP ...so Nastik will be right and Aastik too which is the exact equation as given by Guru ji you get what you deserve through karams
