  1. You might benefit from having a sukhmani sahib recording which you can play in the car. Listen to the same at home too. There is always a starting point. Keep up the kirtan sohila at night.
  2. Queer situation to be in. My thoughts are that perhaps there are some dark forces around. These get disturbed when bani is performed. Keep doing it and it is so great your mum wants to listen. The fruit of bani gets doubled that way. Don't worry its just your family getting used to your new routine. When even one person turns to prayer, then it affects others too. However you know clearly in your mind what the right thing to do is. Guru Nanak Dev jis father was the same. He worried unnecessarily about what Guru Ji would be doing. He got Guru Ji married and got him a job as well. However Guruji was never rude to his parents. He respected them and in return God protected him and lots of miracles happened. Do keep up with the right path. Going to see the GP or counsellor might actually benefit you. I don't even think your mum means it If she suggests it next time, just say yes. You need to become carefree and not think too much into these things that your family are saying. Keep up the path and one day they will follow your footsteps too. Take along your mum to the guradwara too if she agrees. I have heard sometimes it may be the parent going through a lot of pressure, maybe at work. Maybe some events have disturbed her. Maybe she is genuinely not feeling mentally balanced. Hearing gurbani might help her.
  3. Sometimes it may be you misplacing it, however sometimes we are sure we did not loose our items. Are you having enough sleep as well, since you say you started nitnem recently. Just a question coz sometimes when I dont sleep well, my memory does suffer a bit and I forget things. Something that can help this memory problem are simple memory games which can help boost our mind power. Are you sure there is no one around who is trying to get a few papers misplaced. Odd things do happen. I could not find many things and then discovered my son enjoys going through my stuff and puts them elsewhere. Sometimes we try to do a little too much without giving ourselves some thinking time. Is your routine rushed or relaxed? Do try to include sukhmani sahib in your routine - a few astpadhees every day for a few days or a month and see if things improve. There are katha about sukhmani sahib providing extra protection and possible relaxing the mind too.
  4. Do include sukhmani sahib in your daily nitnem, even if you do not finish the whole path in one sitting. Continue from where you stopped. I remember reading a katha on the importance of sukhmani sahib in mental health and getting rid of such small problems.
  5. A person who practices what he preaches has more power in his bachans. If he tells people to do something like naam jap, theres a better chance they will follow him if he practices what he's preaching in the first place.
  6. These experiences can also happen as an after effect of having engaged in samadhi. People who are able to experience these while awake are lucky of course. They do not necessarily happen during meditation. However most happen at amrit vela. You can get feedback from God at any time even when you are not actively praying.
  7. The only way spiritual experiences make sense is if we imagine ourselves without a body. This means just soul. A soul has no eyes, ears, mouth, skin or other feelings including the mind which judges all our senses. So what does your soul feel like to you? You will have to shut your eyes and dive deep into yourself with the help of bani in order to discover it. Forget your mind- do not listen to your mind. Just try to feel. It will be an odd feeling at first because we judge everything using our bodily organs especially the mind.

Thanks bhaji. However I am only quoting those words. They are written by someone else, as the link refers to.

Be careful to get attached yTo Waheguru not experiences. There Is plaenty more to come. However you need to Increase katha, listening to shabads... to keep your mind fully focused on God. Do try to have some soaked badaam as well. They may help you.
  10. Wow x-raysvision. YEs that exists for sure. This is what healers use. They can see right through the body and look at the diseased organ and they can pray for it. Angels in my hair - is the book where this lady was shown many things which we can't see. The Kingdom of Gos rubs parallel to ours with lots of seva being performed by angels of different types. Why do you want a quantity. You should try to do naam jap all the time or as much as you can.
  11. Sikhs who have recently come from Afghanistan, Italy and other countries do not speak punjabi. Theyaare however more enthusiastic Sikhi practitioners than the original punjabi speaking sikhs.
  12. Yearning for things including amrit is normal. If you don't yearn for them, they will not near you. This is per the theory of attraction. No one has the correct answer for this question except Guru ji. Some will take amrit then fall back in rehat after an year or two. It is the very rare person who will keep it up to the end, in this time of kalyug. Keep doing ardaas and yearning for it. This is the only way that Guruji is going to pave your way to it. Goid things come to those who wait. Keep practising your rehat meanwhile. No human can give you the correct age for amrit. The sahibzadhe remember passed away at a very young age. All happens in Wahegurus hukam.
  13. It seems like he has been having problems previously with his account too. He has quit a number of times before too and come back.
  14. Any sakhi you have found penji on Guru Ramdas refusing to have her around. Please send link as I have not come across It. Thanks.
  15. Who Is closer to Waheguru than maya, wjo also helps Waheguru at each and every stage? Who Is the dasi of Waheguru? Maya of course.
  16. So what kind of girl do you think you will land by being a mona? Do you think she will recommend sikhi to you? We came into the world for a totally different reason. Read sehaj path regularly and strengthen your relationship with God. Nothing in this world is true..... remember. No bhagat or Guru ji ever said they will pause their sikhi and come back to it. The sahibzadhe, young as they were gave their lives. Didn't they want all the nice girls promised to them? Every breath is precious. Fill it with gurbani. Do not waste your time. Enjoy bhagti dha rass, not praises and dispraise from the world.
  17. Thank you so much bhaji. I will check that out as well.
  18. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ हरि हरि सजणु मेरा प्रीतमु राइआ ॥ Har har sajaṇ merā parīṯam rā▫i▫ā. The Lord, Har, Har, is my Best Friend; He is my Beloved Lord King. Ko▫ī āṇ milāvai mere parāṇ jīvā▫i▫ā. If only someone would come and introduce me to Him, the Rejuvenator of my breath of life. The shabad is in mahalla 4 which means Guru Ramdas Ji wrote it. However it is about separation. I can find a sakhi on Guru Arjun Dev jis separation from His father, however I cant find any sakhi relating to the above shabad. Could somebody tell me which sakhi it is which goes with this shabad please. Also if possible, when this shabad was recited.
  19. The old are stuck in their own way of thinking, which they hand over to us. If a Sikh kept this name, would it also be to alert the mind over maya? Maya is everywhere. We are maya too. However we have to be alert not to get carried away by it. If you understand it this way, then you would not want to have great moh with your children because they are maya LOL I wonder though, most of our name end with deep, preet, inder meet ..... where did these names come from? We have just assumed they are connected to Sikhi. However give it a second thought. Inder? Deep ? How does it connect to sikhi. No one in the Gurus age had such names as ..Inder!!!!
  20. My great grandfather was a Hindu. Well, in fact he used to smoke a lot as well. However he wanted his family to be a Sikh. This was my grandfathers father. On the other hand my nanis father was very religious. Waking up at amrit vela and doing ishnaan in the nadhi. He was fully literate too and had a huge collection of sakhis which he narrated as bed time stories to the whole village. However, what makes you think we are not from the Hindus. There were only muslims and Hindus at that time in India. of course, unless you are not from India, which I assume you are penji. If we go back to the time of Sri Guru HarGobind Sahib Ji, Sikhi was not really existing in its real form as it is today. Sikh meant a follower of the Guru. There was no main distinction. Most people wore turbans. Hair cuts were introduced by the whites. People who were in seva and were Hindus were turbaned too. The style may be different. If you take yourself back to that time, when Sikhs were not distinguished, then this is what happened. When Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji was released from prison, he rescued 52 Hindu rajas and came back to his city which was all lit up with divas because all were celebrating Diwali. Hence both celebrations co-incided together. https://www.allaboutsikhs.com/sikh-festivals/the-sikh-festivals-divalibandi-chhorh-divas Look at it another way. This was the day Ram, who is believed to be one of the roops of God came and this is the time when Guru JI who is believed to be Waheguru came back to his own city after people had been missing Guru Ji so much. There was all the reason for celebration. When Sikhi had not been declared to be Sikhi and the Sikhs had not been declared by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to be different from the Hindus, we still were the same people. It is the coming generations which adopted a pure form of Sikhi - which what we know today. Shabads anf the SGGS we know today were non-existent until Guru Arjun Dev Ji composed the Adh Granth. What were we reading then? It was scattered shabads from the first 4 Gurus which were found here and there. The work done by Guru Arjun Dev Ji is truely great indeed. He preserved the Bani so that we can get it in its purest form even today.
  21. During the time of Babar, Guru ji was scooped up with plenty others and had to do the chaki. St that time, Babar saw him as a holy soul and set him free. The chaki was going on by I
  22. If we look back into history and see where we came from i.e from the Hindus, then you may understand more about this topic. I think when Hindus first born sons were being given to become Sikhs, they wanted something at least that they could celebrate together. Hence the Hindu part of the family would celebrate Diwali and then the Sikhs would be celebrating the Bhandhi shor diwas. Many other youngsters would have more questions of this sort. Well the answer is Who stopped you from celebrating anything in any way? We have had mothers days, fathers days and many others etc added to our list of celebrations. My son was asking me in tears just the other day when the Happy childrens day is going to be? Many Sikhs have got Hindu ways of celebrating Diwali. I think the word Bhandhi shor has now recently come into force by way of media. My mum had a diva and many people from the older generation still believe in keeping a light on so that the Goddess Laxmi can visit their house and there will be plentiful money. Long story short - celebrate whatever you want. No ones stopping you. Hold a sehaj path at the Guradwara and call your relatives and say it is in memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji coming out of prison. Research and tell them about your speech. Or call a giani Ji for special katha. Hold a special evening at your home and invite your relatives or friends and tell them about Guru Ji. Wouldn't they just be thrilled ? You decide what to celebrate and when and how. The problem is that we are just not focused enough to celebrate special moments in Sikhi. Some people in some places are taking the lead.
  23. There is a Sikh girl named Amaya. I would not say that her parents belong to the religious group. People in our community tend to believe that Sikhi gives you options to choose. Well, God has given all the free will to choose between religion and maya and between specifically which religion you would want to follow. However, God is also the one who makes people forget about him and he is the one who reminds people about his existence too. Tudh aap vishoreya aap milaya. We as Sikhs need to understand that God is still in control. Who are we to judge people. A good example is if you met Jagraj Singh before he was a devoted Sikh, would you have the same to say about him 10 years later? You never know who God is going to choose to become a devoted and blessed Gursikh next. Apne karam ki ghat mae kya jaanu, says bhagat Ji. Judging others is wrong. Looking at so and so and criticizing them is wrong. We are supposed to look at our own selves. If we keep looking at others, then we are neglecting ourselves - it is ourselves that we need to improve. Hum nahi change bura nahi koi. Realise that everybody is at a different level - however we will all get there in the end.

Wow! I used to say every time I saw him. I thought, this is what one needs in order to attain a humane connection with that place and the environment. But I also realized that this was something inveterate, which would only come with time, filled with love for the Guru and Gurbani…hau reh na ska bin dekhe preetma mai neer vahe vahe chale jeeo. I cannot survive without seeing my Beloved. My eyes are welling up with tears. (M4; Pg 94; SGGS)But I was also a bit puzzled. Why this melancholy? It is said, ‘’how but through a broken heart can Lord enter’’. Was it the environment, the shabad or something else? It was all-in-one I guess. Sitting with crossed legs, closed eyes, listening to the ‘dhur ki baani’ written by our Gurus – this reaction is inevitable if we really concentrate on the shabad, its meaning and environment. Also, is melancholy a reflection of the Sikhs’ perception of ‘man neevan’ which they utter daily in their prayer, ‘man neevan; mat uchee’? (humble mind and exalted wisdom). It’s such a unique combination of the ‘man’ (mind) being humble but at the same time the spirits being high.
