Read that it was normal Singhs to have more than 1 wive back in the days.?. was it not like this during misl era. to help  population rise...during MRS regin and before partition?

our low birth-rates are going to be detrimental to panth .. esp in Panjab...

No it wasn't a norm, but there were sardars who had multiple wives, plus also it was a political practice where sardars would get extra wives to align themselves with other useful families, often to negate competition from them (that's what it looks like to me anyway).

I'm not on that birth rate thing -  I don't know how useful it is to have higher birth rates if we are giving birth to multiple fudhus.

They are as human as the rest of us. They might have serious, compelling cultural 'pressures' i.e. the threat of death as a force to dissuade them against this (which works quite well in its purpose for many), but for people to think every last women of any particular community isn't susceptible to cheating is extreme simpleton thinking in my mind (i.e. fudhu), based on not only personal observations but also reinforced as one of the themes of CP.

What I will say is that if they do, they'd usually do it discreetly, unlike many apneean who curiously seem to unabashedly celebrate their kunjereeness with no sharam whatsoever.  Go figure. Maybe that's why the reputation of females in one community is a particular way, and the other another way.

I got to say, I find this obsession with what these people are doing (instead of developing our own community) boring and detrimental. In terms of grooming, you have to be as thick as pig shyte not to know what's been going on in the UK at this stage.

Also, do you think a lot of muslim women aren't sick to death of their own men's infidelity?

well this site is ok with a nitnem  bani from Charitropakhyan, Kabyo baach benti chaupai, being read in a broken and anti-dasam granth way. They even have group of sikhsthat reads the bani this anti-dasam way, on the top banner listed as "Sikh videos - Intermediate". Whereas a knowledgable sikh with santhiya like Bhai Jagraj Singh and his group Basics of Sikhi, is only listed as "Sikh videos - Beginner"

This is absolutely poor having sikhs that do not have a panthic outlook, and  being shown above Basics of Sikhi on this forum, whereas a group like Nanak Naam group would be many times better than Gurmat Bibek group.

The point is, if we keep letting sangat get away with reading Benti Chaupai in this anti-dasam way, (and it has been around 100 years these jathas and SGPC have been doing this anti-dasam bani activity), then what hope is there for Singhs to read the rest of Charitropakhyan and dasam bani!

The fact is anti-dasam bani is being practiced in front of us, hidden in the open, at our gurdwaras and sgpc gutkas!

Well, I think the debate around DG is maturing and becoming more sophisticated. The problem you describe above stems from a lack of intelligence, laziness and cult-like mentalities, where people are either to lazy to study to any depth in order to get a good grounding, or just plainly incapable of grasping more subtle nuanced stuff due to 'cognitive limitations' or they follow some parcharak or organisation and just take whatever they are fed at face value.

It's a compendium of our history in poetic form.

There may be some sakhis that are inaccurate. It's not a big deal.

If we start removing every single thing written after 1708, we'll have nothing. And that's exactly what our enemies want.

That seems to be the context of when I was growing up. It has to be said, in the Singh Sabha drive to portray Sikhi as some sort of Abrahamic type religion, it was a norm to say pretty much all of our puratan texts where 'corrupted' by bahmanwaad, not understanding the diverse views within, and the Indic context of much that was written. This went all the way to Dasam Granth!

I'm so glad we appear to be moving away from that.

It's that black and white binary mindset that has people jumping up and down about the contents of some puratan granths. People need to grow up and view these texts in a more adult, literary and contextualised manner. But a lot of us will understand that we do have this characteristic in the panth, when people start forming these polarised groups over issues like this and start causing unnecessary controversies.

Is everything we go through in life result of our own actions/karma or can there be other factors involved. I have been going through tough time and wonder what have I done in my past life to deserve this.

I think some of it is Waheguru's way of toughen you up for whatever is in their plan.
