  1. Thanx alot...i was able to get it from the info
  2. Jus wonderin...where can I download Balwinder Singh Rangila shabads???
  3. First off, the community in general does embrace the SAME values. But again individuals in a community can go there own ways in believing in what and how something should be depicted. i.e.// Like how some continue to believe in caste. Secondly, Our religon is perfect in practice when practiced perfectly. People practice as much as they want and may just limit themselves for the simple fact that they "beleive" they cant achieve such lifestyles that adhere to Sikhi or any religon for that fact. Unfortunately, this world runs with money, even Amritsar is a money making machine. Something even more stunning is that almost every relgious place of worship is a money making machine. The Catholic church, in the past, people used to donate land to the to the church which gave it alot of power throughout Europe. We can try to reform and channel funds to causes that we believe are righteous but that involves the individuals who control these religous places, who should be responsible. Dozens of Apples, Oranges and Kiwis may have some Rotten Apples, rotten Oranges and rotton Kiwis. So, this does not mean that just because one individual may be rotten that all of them share the same characteristics and are not able to govern themselves. Further, social problems always will exist as long as social inequality is present. Its not that we should not address social problems, but every issue has to be addressed. Seperatism is not something that one person dreams of and then everybody seems to follow, but it is a reforming of governance, it is when people feel that they need to reform there state in the way it is run since they are not given equal treatment and rights like the majority. So then you will find individuals who will rise up and speak against the majority in order to gain equality. However, if peaceful means do not work and oppression persists fanatical factions may become prevalent and people will sympathize with them. This, although general, can be noted in many parts of the world.
  4. Our RELIGON has cohesion and perfection in its principles however, No RELIGON has a firm religous "cohesion" amongst FOLLOWERS. Social problems within the Sikh Community are not religous probelms. In the Sikh community we dont fight over who we are praying too. Our RELIGON IS CLEAR, everyone can follow its values even without being Sikh. Most of the World beleives in Sikh Values however, they may come across as Human Rights, the Red Cross, the Red Cresent and the U.N. People who question our GURU GRANTH SAHIB, and believe otherwise have every right too but they do not represent a flaw within our Religon but simply there own personal opinions. Anything to do with worldly poessesions are social problems, GURBANI is TRANSPARENT and CONVEY's one UNIVERSAL MESSAGE. And about whos gonna rule Khalistan To simply reject the notion of Khalistan due to the fact of the possible imperfections part of a community or of a group of people, is not a valid reason....Thats like sayin that since George Bush is in powe r...there should not be an America anymore... or because some Americans may be sinful, or may engage in criminal acts that the entire American Population are not capable of governing themselves and should not be given the right of freedom
  5. I saw this movie yesterday, I was dissapointed because the only part of the movie pertaining to 1984 was the scenes of the Delhi riots which was a very small focus of the entire 3 hr feature and everything else was merely a dipiction of some personal story. The effort was there to produce a film of 1984, however Im not sure about what kind of intentions the director actually had, cause in no way was the image of Sikh characters in this hindi film brought to any respectable light. This movie has simply added to distortion of the Sikh image by linking the Khalistan movement to Taliban Style training Camps. This movie had alot of Sikh on Sikh Violence, some low grade music, excessive focus on Pakistan and Sikhs trainin in Taliban style camps, and indirectly puts blame on Sikhs for having caused events of 1984....and that was Hawayein In short this movie says Bhinderwale was an all out terrorist and the whole Khalistan movement was baseless because Sikhs were treated very highly in India, and was because of greed amongst Sikhs that lived in Punjab who were after land that caused Hindus to retaliate on Sikhs.
  6. The government has been idle in this matter. It is time for the Sikh Community to handle these cowardly attacks instead of brushing them off. This organized effot on part of certain fanaticle muslim groups should cease, and we as the Sikh community should do everything in our power to end these attacks.
  7. I read about this movie some past months ago....when sum link was posted on this fourm. I read some of the directors insight into the movie.....and he said that he didnt put any blame on the government.......I dont expect this movie to give the most accurate insight into the events that transpired, again you have to remember its been made in India.
  8. LoL....my cousin in India is an Amleee....sold his fathers medication in order to buy drugz for emself Some of my relatives in India, try too hard to be Micheal Jackson...wearing air-tight jeans... tryin to speak broken english and mixinin it with hindi slogans
  9. http://www.hvk.org/articles/1000/102.html Rebel outfit bans Hindi in Manipur Author: Nitin Gogoi in Imphal Publication: Rediff on Net Date: October 31, 2000 A proscribed outfit in Manipur has banned the use of Hindi throughout the Imphal Valley and also asked cable operators and cinema hall owners to stop screening "Indian" channels and movies. In neighbouring Tripura, the Durga Puja celebrations were sought to be prevented for second year running by the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura while in Assam, insurgents of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland have warned that they would blow up trains in Assam from October 20 unless the Army withdraws its campaign against the outfit. The NDFB is at loggerheads with an influential democratic organisation, the All Bodo Students Union over the use of Devnagri as the script for the Bodo language. The NDFB is in favour of the Roman script. In Manipur, the ban on Hindi films, music and serials began in mid-September after one senior leader of the outlawed Revolutionary Peoples Front was killed. While the Assam Rifles, a counter-insurgency force under the operational command of the Army claims that MC Simon alias Kh Tomcha was killed in an encounter, the outfit says Simon was captured and tortured before he died in custody on September 12. As a first step, the RPF, arguably the most powerful of the 18-odd insurgent groups operating in Manipur, banned the screening of Hindi films and ordered a ban on use of Hindi. It also enforced a 36-hour general strike across the valley from October 16. Combined wit h the "anti-merger day' (Manipur was merged with India on this day in 1949, which is still not accepted by many) called each year throughout Manipur, the protest evoked total response in the valley. During the general strike, members of the RPF confiscated over 10,000 audio and video cassettes of Hindi films and music and burnt them. The RPF also imposed a ban on screening Hindi films in cinema halls across the valley. The RPF says it has been forced to take the step to stop the "Indianisation" of Manipur. The ban has placed the cinema owners in Manipur in a great dilemma. On the one hand, they are forced to obey the militants' diktat while on the other, many of them have been served with a showcause notice by the government for not screening Hindi films in cinema halls. Apparently, under the directive of the Union home ministry, authorities in the Imphal West district have asked the cinema exhibitors to show cause as to why their cinema halls are functioning under the directive of an organisation which has been banned by the central government. Failure to respond to the notice would invite cancellation of the cinema hall licenses, the hall owners have been warned. Cinema exhibitors in Imphal have said that distributors are unwilling to send films to Manipur now. They also said on account of the ban on Hindi movies, it has become difficult for them to run their cinema halls with only English movies, as supply of English movies in the state is limited. Under these circumstances, they have to make do with old stock. Manipuri films available at present are too few to run the shows. Due to the ban, their major source of income has also been taken away. On October 16, both the primary cable networks operating in Imphal were shut down indefinitely by the RPF for violating its ban order on Hindi films and programmes. The Front also seized equipment from operators violating the ban. A spokesperson of the RPF told reporters somewhere in Imphal East that the Front had decided to close down cable TV for an indefinite period of time as punishment against airing of Hindi film and entertainment programme on October15. Sources in Imphal claim the closure of cable networks came after Assam Rifles forced the cable networks to air Hindi Films on October 15. Personnel of the Assam Rifles, in a bid to break the ban, had brought along with them Hindi cassettes and ordered the opera tors to air it. Both the network were forced to run the Hindi films, one of them repeatedly. Assam Rifles and Manipur state government officials have, however, denied the charge. This, however, is not the first time that such a ban on Hindi has been imposed in Manipur. In the early 'eighties, says an administrator, "A similar ban was imposed in protest against the failure of the Centre to recognise the Manipuri language by including it in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution." In neighbouring Tripura, NLFT militants issued a diktat in early October ordering the indigenous tribal people to stay away from Durga Puja celebrations and warned that any tribal members seen taking part in the festival would be killed. In a statement, the NLFT said it wanted all tribals in Tripura to become Christians because the practice of Hinduism has led to them being marginalised by people of Bengali origin living in the state. Durga Puja is the biggest festival to be celebrated by Hindus from Bengal. Tripura, bordering Bangladesh, is rocked by clashes between tribals and non-tribals over the last 10 months, leading to the death of at least 200 people. The indigenous tribal population in Tripura perceives the Bengalis as a threat to their existence. The NLFT, with strong Christian moorings, thinks that salvation for the tribals, who have been reduced to about 31 per cent of Tripura's population from the 51 per cent at the time of Independence, lies in Christianity. In Assam, the NDFB has been involved in a fratricidal clash with the All Bodo Students Union over the adoption of a script for the Bodo language. NDFB militants even killed the president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, an influential literary-politico organisation for advocating Devnagri as the script for Bodo language. The NDFB wants to apply Roman script to the language in line with other tribal dialects and languages in the north-east. Mizo, Khasi and Garo tribals, to name just three, have adopted the Roman script for their language under the guidance of Christian missionaries. Says ABSU president Urkhao Gwra Brahma: "Despite its strong-arm tactics, the NDFB has failed to garner any support for its demand and hence the threat to blow up tracks and trains." The clashes and the simultaneous pressure applied by the Army, have forced the NDFB to issue a threat that hits the people the most. Its threat to blow up trains brought the entire Railway Board to Guwahati this week which reviewed the situation with the state government and decided to strengthen security along the tracks. Says an Army official involved in counter-insurgency: "The NDFB is merely trying the classic diversionary tactics. By issuing such a threat it is hoping that we would shift our focus towards guarding the railway lines and ease the pressure on the outfit along the international border with Bhutan." NDFB cadres are mainly based in the jungles of southern Bhutan and are adept in hit-and-run tactics in Assam before retreating to the safety of their hideouts there.
  10. About whoz gonna rule Khalistan.......When the British gave up control in India...the plea at the time was to let the people of India rule themselves....there was a possibilty for tyrants to rule the country...which could easliy be predicted at that time....but out of fairness, the people who live in the country ought to decide who is to rule them.... The answer lies in the will of the Sikhs.. do they see a need of a free land that runs by Sikhi law?...are they willing to raise their voices?, are they willing to sacrifice their un-distrubed lifestyle they are living right now?...are they willing to defend their right of self-determination, even if it comes to taking up arms? I mean to gain independence by defending your rights is not uncalled for.....just look at the United States of America....they expressed their right to Self Determination and their right to Rule themselves ( not by the King of England).....Further, with their persistance they were able to make allies with the French, and defeat the British and throw them out of America....... To simply reject the notion of Khalistan due to the fact of the possible imperfections part of a community or of a group of people, is not a valid reason....Thats like sayin that since George Bush is in power...there should not be an America anymore... or because some Americans may be sinful, or may engage in criminal acts that the entire American Population are not capable of governing themselves and should not be given the right of freedom
