  1. That's very bad on our part. We should not form any alliance with muslims even if it is just to spite the Hindus. Muslims are very dangerous to our community. They will kidnap our girls if they can get away with it.
  2. Yep Chandigarh is not a Punjabi place at all. Let's be honest the current Punjab state was created based on Sikh demographics not on linguistic lines, at that time every Sikh said they spoke Punjabi and every Hindu said they spoke Hindi. If there are Hindu majority areas in Himachal and Haryana that speak Punjabi they will still opt to remain in their existing states. Language comes second to religion when it comes to politics. We're lucky that we got Hindu majority Pathankot in Punjab. Jalandhar and Ludhiana have a huge Hindu majority over us and most of them also prefer Hindi. You will also see Hindi road signs there and all Hindu owned shops will have Hindi writing outside using Devanagari script. If Sikhism ever ended the Punjabi language would go with it. The language battle is still being fought between Sikhs and Hindus in Punjab. That Sikh lady from Chandigarh is simply a traitor. People say that Punjabi is not as sophisticated as Hindi and Urdu but I think that is a joke. The Hindi belt of India is the most deprived and backwards area of India so I don't know how the language gets so much prestige. Are you telling me a rickshaw driver in UP is speaking some beautiful language? French and Italian sound softer than English and German but there's no way the English or German people would give up their language for Italiab and French. The singers and movies need to stop the obsession with Chandigarh, as you said it just makes us look like idiots. The only people who care about Punjabi language and culture are Sikhs. Baba Balak Nath has lots of Sikh followers in Punjab. Like I said Sikhs in the west are more orthodox than the ones in Punjab, I had never even heard of Balak Nath until I went to Punjab. I guess beliefs in India are more fluid than here.. A mosque in Nawanshahr? That's sad. The thing I really like about visiting Punjab is the almost total absence of muslims but it looks like this is changing.
  3. That's why we need to stop such things immediately. Focus purely on Sikhs. That money could have been used to help poor needy Sikhs.
  4. What will it take for some Sikhs to realise that muslims hate us. There isn't always some conspiracy behind everything.
  5. There will always be violence there due to Afghanistan. Foreign countries won't invest there as much. They were actually ahead of India in the 1970s and 1980s but went backwards due to General Zia Ul Haq who made it a backwards islamic sharia hellhole. I don't see them ever having a space program. Remember these are the people who believe that the meteorite in mecca comes from heaven. Even their top scientists think that. They even had a nobel prize winner for physics but they disowned him because he was an Ahmedi. With a mentality like that they will never get anywhere.
  6. Economy is usually the most important thing for a nation. It's the reason why we're sitting here in the UK and Canada instead of Punjab.
  7. Chandigarh was special to me in the 90s because it had sit down toilets instead of the squat ones lol. Unless you have relatives there, there is no point visiting unless you want to go to malls that sell the same things as you get in the west. It is however a nice place to live. I don't know why Punjabi singers and Punjabi movies big it up so much, it's not a Punjabi city at all, the vast majority of the people are Hindi speakers or ya ya types. It's a miniature Delhi without the history. Since my nana and nana passed away I've got no inclination to ever visit again. Anandpur Sahib really is different to the rest of Punjab, so much more peaceful, yes I went to Baba Gurdita high up, Kiratpur and also that muslim shrine Buddan Shah where they claim Guru Nanak asked for milk from a sufi saint and said he would come back a hundred years later in a different incarnation (Guru Hargobind) to take the rest. It seems like a made up story to me. I wanted to see the Virasat E Khalsa museum, I remember when it was in the process of being built in 2000 but I never got time to visit it in 2018 when I last went. Did you go there? I will have to visit Machiwara the next time I am there. Himachal is beautiful, great scenery and monkeys galore.
  8. It's true to some extent but have a look at Muslim immigrants in Europe, whether they are North Africans in France, Belgium, Holland or Turks in Germany, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in the UK, Lebanese in Australia, they are all near the bottom of society, less educated, less employed, disproportionately involved in crime and grooming gangs. The only thing linking all of these groups is Islam. Whereas India is progressing, Islamic countries are becoming more backwards.
  9. No their Islamic roots will always hold them back. The whole 'is this haram' mentality will always keep them one step behind. They are more focused on the afterlife than this life.
  10. These are all valid points and I agree fully. You should only get help if you are poor, not because of your so called caste. Anandpur being near is great but the roads leading there from Nawanshahr are atrocious, they really need to be fixed. Amristar isn't that far, about 2 hours away but nowadays I prefer Anandpur Sahib, it's so much more peaceful and I like the hilly scenery. Amritsar has become a tourist town with massive queues to do matha tek at Harmandir Sahib. You can even bribe sevadars to jump the queue, so shameful. There are lots of tourists from other parts of India who want to visit Harmandir Sahib but only because the 'Jai Hind Vande Matram' Jalianwala Bagh and Wagah border are nearby. It made me laugh seeing these central indians at Wagah border shouting their slogans at the Pakistanis. I was thinking - this isn't your land, you have nothing in common with the people here. I've never been to Machiwara, 90% of my trips to India were spent in my Dad's pind and then the odd excursion to Amritsar (and the surrounding areas), Anandpur or visiting my nana in Chandigarh (a very bland metro city). I've done one proper trip to Delhi, that was good.
  11. My Dad was a victim of caste based politics unfortunately. We're from a Ramgarhia background, he managed to get more marks than his chamaar friend in school but didn't get into Engineering due to 'positive discrimination' but his friend got in. Every flaana Sikh youth you speak to in that area just wants a go'orment job and complains about the chamaars getting them. Due to this, they all just want to go to Canada, Australia and New Zealand. A lot of their points are valid but these government jobs are a joke, the workers literally just clock in and do nothing. We need more aspirations. I guess you could say the majority of Punjab is bland, good place to live but not visit. Amritsar and Anandpur Sahib are the two best places to visit by far and that is 100% due to Sikh history. Without Sikhism Punjab would be another bland state like Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.
  12. Yes my mum's pind is also Jindowal. Guru Hargobind stayed there for quite a while, hence the nice Gurdwara there. You're right there's not much to do in that area apart from the Bhagat Singh museum. They have made that area look nice with the fountains. As for it being a Congress area I'm not surprised there are lots of people there who are half way between being Sikhs and Hindus, I'm guessing that they are RaviDas followers. I feel that orthodox Sikh practices are more prevalent outside of Punjab/India.
  13. The most India and China ever do is literally shoving matches on the border, not even gunfire. There is simply too much for them to lose. The Pakistanis on the other hand have nothing to lose because their country is a mess.
  14. My mum's pind is the one right next to Banga, next to the Sikh National College (where my Dad studied), my Dad's pind is a 5-10 min drive from Banga. Bhagat Singh's house, lol. I've been to India 5 times and visited the house 4 times. What about chande ji gurdwara?
  15. My parents are also from the Nawanshahr area near Banga. Which village are yours from? They also told me the story about Indira coming in the helicopter when they were youngsters. My Dad said she was shocked at how much less poverty there was in Punjab than in the rest of India and that she wanted to charge more tax or get more food from Punjab and give it to other states. It sometimes feels like we are a victim due to our own hard work.
  16. The muslims got their cake and ate it during partition. 1/3 of their population was in Pakistan, 1/3 in Bangladesh and they still left 1/3 in India. The Hindus made a massive blunder letting them stay behind in such massive numbers.
  17. Give them an inch and they will try to take a mile. The only nation controlling them are the Chinese. Look at what they've done with the muslim Uighurs. I don't feel sorry for the Uighurs at all because if you show them leniency they would revert to type and terrorise non muslims in their area and also be involved in terrorism.
  18. A lot of Punjabi singers have this mentality as well. I don't give a damn about Heer Ranjha or Mirza, they're Pakistanis to me, yet these damn singers like Gurdas Khan, Hans Raj Hans, Harshdeep Kaur, Satinder Sartaj Kanwar Grewal praise them. We benefitted a lot from partition. Prior to partition the main language of Punjab was Urdu, the curly Urdu script was everywhere in Punjab. After partition Gurmukhi made a big comeback.
  19. That is what we did in 1947 and we hit them back very hard. They are so cocky even when in a minority. It seems that they only respect you if you give them a good beating.
  20. Exactly, I dont want any coalition between Sikhs and any Muslim group. We need to stick up for ourselves and don't need the bad reputation of muslims hanging over us.
  21. Yes the only way is if an even bigger power helps the militant group but India is not the same nation it was back in the 80s. Nukes change things big time. No country will do this against India. Economically India is doing ok so it isn't going to collapse like the USSR.
  22. Militant groups just have no chance against bigger powers. At best they can be a nuisance like the IRA but they can never achieve their end goal.
  23. This shaming stuff happens to Russia, Iran, North Korea in the media all of the time and nothing happens to those countries. Once you have the kind of military India does no one will mess with you.
  24. It's true, they are now a military superpower, they have nuclear weapons and a very good navy. Even the Tamil Tigers couldn't defeat the Sri Lankan military who are a lot weaker than India's and much smaller in size. 1947 was a fantastic opportunity, all we had to do was ask. Ask and you shall receive, we didn't even ask! Silly Mr 'Village teacher' Malhotra.
