  1. I also know that at least in the later 1700s, some nihungs used to put boars blood in amrit (it is on record folks) when a muslim was to turn Singh. I think this was to make sure infiltration by the Mughuls weren't taking place. It is written by contemporary European witnesses. Maybe this is where the stereotype stems from. Also it is probably a <admin-profanity filter activated> tactic to put hatred and disgust about Singhs in their children by telling them such things.
  2. Another possible solution is for you to find someone who will become a dastaar wearing Singh from the monas, but this is a long shot. Probably a dumb idea.
  3. Bhai Ji, i think it comes from the so-called Bhai Nand Lal Rehit Nama. But many people don't believe it is written by the man with the same name who was a great admirer for Dasmesh Pita as the writing doesn't doesn't correspond to that period and the quality of poetry doesn't match that of Bhai Nand Lals surviving Persian couplets. Real busy right now but will look into it and get back about this as soon as I can. The Raj Karega Khalsa jaikaara is very important to Sikhs.
  4. Hope the girl rots in prison. Pure disgrace to the community. Sikh women need to take some serious action to educate the sisters.
  5. I was talking to a friend of mine who is a teacher. She told me the following: She was teaching a class and they were making posters of various religions individually. One Muslim girl had been given Sikhism. When she was discussing it with the student the belief that all are equal in the eyes of God came up and teh girl said "that's not true"...bla bla bla The next week the girl spoke to the teacher again and said "aren't Sikhs the ones with the silver bangles, I know them" Then she went on to say "They drink and have baths in blood don't they" The teacher said that she knew someone who was Sikh pretty well and that she is sure that he doesn't drink or bath in blood. Shen pointed out that what she heard was only a rumour. I heard similar <admin-profanity filter activated> years ago as well when some pak said that Sikhs keep long hair so they can dip it in Muslim blood and when they score parshaad with a kirpan they have blood on it. I've got a feeling that some paks are telling their children (esp. girls) such crap in order for them to fear and hate Sikhs. Contrast this with the hippy stuff Sikhs tell their own daughters. No wonder we have the problems we do.
  6. The myspace page has been redone. http://www.myspace.com/ukironmongers
  7. Dude, where the hell do you live? Just don't do anything stupid or hot-headed if he tries to nick you. Act calm and have the phone number of a good solicitor with you always. If he takes you in, stay calm and get solicitor to come and explain it all to him rationally. I can't see them sticking a possesion charge on you over this.
  8. I think he'd find that insulting! lol
  9. How do you know you don't have to kill it because in a past life YOU were a mouse and the mouse a human, who killed you.
  10. For the record, I think a gold kara is crap. I wear a sarbloh one to help remind me to be real and strong. However, I found the following in Siques, Tigers or Thieves written by Madra and Singh. Seems like wearing a gold kara is nothing knew. The following was written about Sikh warriors by one of the earliest goray in the Punjab. I think they were talking about nihungs when they wrote the following. "They abhor smoking of Tobaco, for what reason I cannot find, but intoxicate themselves freely with either spirits or bang; a cup of the last they seldom fail taking at night after a fatigue. Their dress is extremly scanty, a pair of blue drawers, a kind of chequered plaid worn partly around the middle and partly around the shoulder with a mean blue turban..... Their chiefs are distinguished by having some heavy gold bracelets on their wrists and sometimes a chain of the same metal around their turbans and by being mounted on better horses, otherwise no distinction appears amongst them." Antoine Louis Henri Polier in a paper read on December 20, 1787.
  11. Check the bottom of the page in this link. It shows the Sikh helmet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikh_Regiment
  12. Bro, I'm so glad you brought this up.... Needed to be said! Remember the late 90s, so many Sikh guys getting banged up over this crap or getting into scraps. They tried to form crews and stuff and disseminate information about this crap. Some sisters, to their credit, did form some organisations, I remember SWAN (Sikh Womens Awareness Network) put some literature out then they disappeared. Sisters, step up! Raise each others consciousness!
  13. Abdul probably looking for a free meal in reality......lol
  14. Khalsaforce said: Islam is deep just like Sikhi and I do not see a difference in any of them. Brother open your eyes. There is a world of difference between them! The biggest is that we recognise that all people can get to Waheguru through good actions. They believe Mohammad was the "seal of the prophets" and that Akal Purakh will send no one after him. This makes our dharam invalid in their eyes. Face it.
  15. Thanks dude! The lyrics are up there for you too (on the Myspace site) incase the British accent is a bit strong! Lol
  16. I heard cold showers can help..........?

  18. Nah, they are family. Just supporting them. Plus I think the track is good, has really good points and stuff. Maybe get through to some of the Aman Dhaliwals around! lol Have you heard it? It sounds much better on a proper hi fi, you can hear the bass and stuff. the track is good but i duno like some one mentioned before it kinda promotes the "cut hair singh" thing ... but then agen i prob being abit naive maybe they can make other tracks promoting sikhi and doing paath , keeping kesh, etc... instead of looking at the negatives try looking at the positives I hear you. I don't think it is actually "promoting" being a cut hair Singh but just talking about the reaction of people to having cut hair in the community. My family has a mixture of keshdhari and monay and the keshdharis are most respected for keeping the flag up. Lots of the younger ones in the family talk about growing their hair and taking amrit someday. Personally having seen the behaviour of some "amritdharis" who are corrupt as hell (not saying all are, just some). I think it is better if kids in this position take the time and learn their roots fully before taking the big step. Guys, when I was at uni years ago I was shocked at the amount of keshdhari Singhs who didn't know the first thing about their history and religion, so although i believe in the importance of external form for Sikhs so they cannot deny their existence, it isn't everything because Ive met so many who are right on the outside but something else on the inside...guess this applies to all humans not just us?
  19. We had what i firstly thought was a single mouse at my mothers and it would shite all over the place! Was disgusting, was scared to eat anything. Then we got traps, the ones that catch the mice/rats alive (humanely!) and it eventually caught one and we were like "yeah!" I think my brother went out and threw it away somewhere. Then we realised shite still around and it dawned on us that we weren't dealing with a single mouse, but mice! A whole crew of them! Once they nearly ate a whole bag of crisps (I mean a big packet which contained 8 packs in itself) in one night. So we had to keep the traps set up and even got some poison for them. Over the weeks we would catch them and the food would be eaten up. Once I saw one walking around, it must have been a kiddie one. Seriously, it had big ears and was goofy and looked kind of cute so I couldn't kill it. Damn, London, dirty place. This is how the black plague started!
  20. It's usually a mixture of things from what i've seen. What really shocked me about the case here was that a bloke converted. Truth be told I've seen lots of girls convert over the years but never a guy. That was one of the main reasons I was so desperate to go I just couldn't believe it. Had to see with my own eyes. Why do they do it? That reason you mentioned is one, Panjabis can be harsh baastaads when they want and we aren't the most inclusive community! For example, where I live loads of muslim guys have married white girls and they have converted, wearing the headscrarf and that, they get quickly and fully accepted into the society. On the other hand, If a Sikh guy did that usually there is "purthoo" in the family...lol....and generally the girl isn't accepted. Weak mindedness i(or plain dumbness) is another reason from what I see, often the convertees haven't had any solid grounding in their own heritage and fall prey to the brainwashing techniques of the guys. I think some people are easy to sway in that way than others. I know some Sikh/Panjabi guys who are as thick as planks about their heritage but would still never convert, and would fight anyone who tried to make them...even though they couldn't name the 10 Gurus or don't know that Sikhs are not supposed to believe caste on paper. Related to this is that Islam is very strict and has lots of rigid rules and explanations for stuff, so if you can't handle grey areas and need everything spelt out......you would be baffled by Sikhi I imagine. LOVE.......sometimes a girl will just meet a guy and get loved up and not give a shite about anything else and is even ready to convert to be with him. An understanding ofthis is used a lot by crafty sulay. Harsh treatment - When people grow up in "funky" domestic situations (say due to alcoholism) they are often treated badly by the wider community. This makes them hate them and want to leave. They find open arms in religions which like to convert. Similarly having crap role models in your own community/family can make you disgusted and want to get away.....when you do, guess what kind of people are waiting to scoop you up... I think these are some of the main ones?
