  1. WJKK WJKF I have a question for the sangat. I have been asked to go to our head office in France to complete some work but i am concious about travelling due to the dastar issues at airports etc. I was wondering how the Singhs travelled to France for the smagam end of last year and did they encounter any problems? My options are to travel by plane, eurostar or via car using the channel tunnel and i want to know which is the most hassle free and will allow me the freedom to travel without issues of kirpan and dastar. Hopefully someone will be able to reply. WJKK WJKF
  2. Fateh Its a bit late to start a petition? I mean, we had 7yrs... To petition less then 10days wont achieve anything. You will be better of doing ardaas to maharaj india are not able to repair the problems with the village and then most countries will pull out anyway - Watch the news, UK and Scotland give more concern to their athletes residence then to the state or political affairs of the country.

    Kanga/Kirpan

Its the same as tying a dastar except its generally alot smaller - maybe 3 - 5 lars and you keep your ears out. There used to be a video on "Sikhnet" titled "tying a House turban" or something along those lines... They used to have a few videos on tying different dastars. If it helps... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tying+a+keski&aq=f
  4. Gurfateh Ji, Any clue on the time it will go live? also what is the channel number? I couldnt see this information on the website. Thanks.
  5. This is the same crap given by camp organisers all the time. Why cant you organise camps in places that do not own halls that run ANTI-GURMAT practices? When i went to Khalsa Camp for the First and LAST time, we confronted organisers about the onsite bar. We were told we should look at our own jeevans before commenting. Sorry, but the sandesh and previous hukham from akaal takht says Gurdwara premises should not include or support any NON GURMAT maryada. By holding your camp at this gurdwara indirectly supports it.
  6. WJKK WJKF I have been putting off for the last 3yrs travelling to my company head office in France due to the ban of the Dastar in schools etc. Now, i need to go as i must work with a colleague on a big project and working my phone / email and video conference is not sufficient. I am waiting for approval of my travel but wanted to know if anyone has travelled recently and had any problems with dastar at the airport etc. If you could reply asap, it would be much apprecaited. Thanks. WJKK WJKF
  7. WJKK WJKF If you mean the seva of washing darbar sahib, normally starts around 12.30 i think from memory and you dont need a pass. The only requirement is: Your Amritdhari male You have a dhari You do not wear pajama I think the same rules apply to Akaal Takht Sahib to but with Akaal Takht Sahib, Bibia and non amritdharis are still able to pass water to the doors while the Singhs wash / dry the floor / walls. The Pakarma is washed around 2.30 (again from memory) and everyone is able to do this seva. Ask a sevadar at darbar sahib for the timings. If in doubt about whether you will be able to do the seva, just sit outside with the rest of the singhs and wait your turn. Your checked before you can go in - ie if your amritdhari, no pajama etc
  8. Try ringing a few places for quotes. Might want to try Thandi Coach as they do private hire and might be cheaper then a gora company. You will need to know what size coach you want, ie 30odd, 40odd 50odd, double decker etc.
  9. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Yesterday i received numerous texts informing me the BBC are doing an article on the Kirpan and the chances are it would be negative. I did not get a chance to view yesterday so thought i would catch up today in my lunch break. I seached good news for "Sikh Kirpan" and the following appears as the top hit. "Mightier then the Kirpan" - http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2010/feb/09/dagger-dilemma-sikhism-kirpan-schools Upon reading the title and description, i assumed being on the guardian page, it would be written by a gora. Then i opened the link and saw it was Hardeep Kohli. I have never been a fan of this muppet as in my opinion he makes Sikhs look like fools but once i read this article, this moorakh needs to be spoken with. After the Sonia Deol interview i would have hoped this twat would maybe show a better stance on Sikhi but this article says the opposite. He questions the need to wear the kirpan in todays world disregarding Hukham of Guru Gobind Singh. I know he is not a "Practising Sikh" but having so called Sikhs like this in the media simply defeats the work done by Sikh Federation and Unites Sikhs etc.
  10. lol also, does anybody know where to download sundri from? or any of the other vismaad movies?? Vismaad Productions made a HUGE loss on Sundri from people making copies. They are not asking for much - we were all quick to bang out a £4 direct debit for the sikh channel because we think its our seva and all the other crap but we cant make a £10 purchase once a yr for a dvd? Instead download it? Shameful. I was looking forward to BUYING this dvd as i have always bought them. I was not able to see the viewing in my city and wont be able to make it to the other ones either therefore knowing the dvd is not available for purchase, is a shame. The dvds are eductational and also very good to see.
  11. Fateh Ji I think this is a good idea however the moorakh standing infront questioning it still wont believe you. Maybe its worth creating "licesnes" as such - similar to those Nihang Singhs have in the Dal. This would determine you are Amritdhari and this would be approved by the stupid government and police force. This would then have to be relayed down to all security firms to ensure these things done happen in the future. At the moment, the Kirpan is an exception to the weapons act however those who need to know, dont know this. I had a policemen tell me it was a weapon and i had to remove it. Shows how their training goes - a race who carry in their eyes a dagger... didnt even know it was accepted. I think the license would be a good idea, provided after an amrit sanchar only and to be carried at all times when leaving the house if you wish to know you be ok when going to public places. I know this is not the ideal solution but it would help prove to idiots its accepted under the law as it would have a government seal or some crap on it. Maybe linked to a register similar to the gun laws... At least we know a check can be done on a central database to prove that individual is supposed to be wearing a kirpan.
  12. Waheguru Ji Ka KHalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Firstly, i apologise if this offends anyone. Secondly, Singh# Please yourself SHUT UP because you are really starting to get on my nerves and probably the majority of other users. For the rest of you forceful individuals, No one is obligated to pay anything to the Sikh Channel. If they want to donate, they can. They do not require to set up a direct debit. So what if they did not receive the requested 10,000 direct debits. Whats your point? They wanted 10,000 direct debits of £4. That equates to £40,000 correct? Now i saw a thank you to a Gurdwara in Italy pledging £400 odd to the channel monthly. Now this equates to a 400 direct debits. Now again, is the sikh channel requesting direct debits or monies from sangat to run the channel. I can guarentee people who have set up direct debits also, have not just set up £4 but some will have donated the higher amounts because they have money to do so. Thirdly, before anyone else dictates we can give money to Zee Tv etc, lets correct ourselves. Those of you following a Gursikhi Jeevan, do you contribute to the extra cost of the Zee network? Probably not seeing as (or i hope) your not interested in the Gandh the network produce. Therefore, by stating if we can give money to Zee why not the Sikh Channel is a pretty crap reason to TELL people to donate. Maharaj runs the channel through the sangat. When will you people get that into your heads? We bang on about the importance of a Sikh channel and the education etc it provides but have forgotten all of the basic fundamentals Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught us. I was under the impression after the 31st the channel would cease. This was not the case. Not because the sangat didnt reach the target or your precious Mr Bal is funding the extra cash. Its because its the WILL OF AKAAL PURAKH to keep the channel open. For those who believe people like myself who have not set up a direct debit are here to put doubts in peoples mind, get a damn life. We are ALL humans with a brain and can think for ourselves. Just as its easy for you to say we encourage bad thoughts of the channel, are you not in turn through your "sweet" words brainwashing people to accept the channel has no flaws and is perfect? The answer is Yes. Let people decide for themselves. So you know. I have no problem setting up a direct debit to a SIKHI Cause. I do however have a problem putting money into something i do not see running according to Gurmat principles but claim to be for the panth, e.g. Bibia with Dastars and wearing makeup (BIG NO). Before anyone says i have all the knowledge to set up a channel so why dont i or go on the show and do something. No, i dont have the knowledge and no i do not wish to go on the Show. I have no need because im not a defensive loner who needs to behave childish in my actions of " why dont you do it then. " I do however feel it is important to ensure the opinions of EVERYONE can be said freely and not be told to SHUT UP because you cant handle it that there are a few people out there who do not always allow wool to be pulled over their eyes just because there is something new for the panth. It is good there is a sikh channel, i do watch it and i enjoy watching it but does not mean i have to pay for it. So you are aware, i have no problem saying what i have said above in person, to anyone. Please, think of that before you decide i can only make comments on the internet. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
  13. lol the singh sabha gurdwara in southall has a pub opposite it (glassy junction) less then 20 ft away. no1 says anything about that. Unless they own the pub, its irrelevant. Most Gurdwaray in UK have a pub located only a few steps away. The point is the Gurdwara should not be using any part of their owned / rented property (including community centres etc) for the purpose of anti-gurmat activities including, meat and alcohol. This was reiterated in the sandesh issued from Akaal Takht Sahib 2006. I think a copy can be found on the forum in another section.
  14. Sikhi is about humility, does that mean we simply kiss the feet of those who slaughter our faith? I am a culprit for breaking this rule. I must beg forgiveness. Being an Amritdhari doesnt mean you have to be a wimp for the rest of your life. It means, yes you are humble and accept maharajs hukham. That is the humility maharajs talks about. Living in the charan of others. To do seva of the panth. This is humility. To hide away and not say when something is wrong, is cowardly. There are Sakhis i remember listening to when i was finding my path to Sikhi and they stick with me to this day such as - The moghals said no one can ride a horse but them, so the Sikhs rode horses. They Said no one but a King can wear the Kalgi, So Maharaj wore the Kalgi. Singhs set up toll booths and taxed the mogals for using the road rather then paying the taxes which were forced upon them. All these Khalsa sikhs had humility - in the sense maharaj wished them to. I can only believe according to your mentality this was incorrect of Maharaj and the Khalsa as they were not humble enough to accept the humility you speak off. Penji, Life is full of hurdles, you get over them. If something like this puts you away from Sikhi, then you need to make it stronger in better sangat. Watching "Amritdharis" behave like regular persons on the street is whats pushes me away from Sikhi - hence now days, i avoid just about everywhere where there is a bunch of youth as those are the ones with the Hero Sikhi mentality that they believe is correct. Does sky give a free allowance to broadcast only text? If the channel is not broadcasting the regular slots one can only assume this?
  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh My apologies firstly for not making a post earlier in relation to the beadbi. Yes, the committee is responsible for the disrespect by Bob Ainsworth for not telling him to cover his head and take of his shoes. This should have been done on him simply entering the Gurdwara. BUT this is still not a viable excuse for the fact he was not able to read the signs or even notice every individual around him was not wearing shoes and had their head covered. He is not a new councilor, he has been on the scene for years. This is not his first enounter with sikhs, i have personally spoken with him on many occasions at the Lobby Days etc - he knows who and what sikhs are. He has been to the Gurdwara before. This was a deliberate act of ignorance. He knew what he was doing. No excuses should be made for his behaviour. If he wants to be a community representative, firstly, he should know a few things about the community he represents and approaches. Yesterday i received a letter through the post from him (posing to be him, just a photocopied letter sent to all coventry residents) stating how crime etc is on the rise and other crap. At the bottom, it has methods to contact him by phone, email, fax and letter. Sangat ji, i believe the best thing to do is to continue to lobby him with complaints of his behaviour until he formally releases an apology in the local papers for his actions. If this was done in a mosque, believe, it would have been dealt with instantly (but then to be honest, i doubt muslims would have allowed any form of beadbi in the first place). He came to the Gurdwara to get votes. We should stand united to demonstrate he will not get the votes of Sikhs until he formally apologises. Again, my apologies for not posting earlier, this should have been posted before. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
