  1. ok, i decided i want to start cooking dhaals and sabji... calling all the sangat that know how to cook any great dhaal/sabjiya recipes you can give me i.e. how to make a great saag or great sabji or one that id love to know... erm...karee di dhaal? its like this yellowy stuff and it has yoghurt lumps in it and all sorts of things, looks like musser di dhaal but defo nice! i saw it being served at the guru ghar, so over to sangat... any good recipes for how to make the perfect dhaal sabji? bhul chukke muaff
  2. sangat ji, i would like to knoe where exactly the re and dha halfnotes lie on a sitar dilruba or any other instrument that has the same frets. any pics to show it also? bhul chukke muaff
  3. ah it makes sense but, this is what i wrote to singhsta on pm.... paji if i offended you in my post when you said "sikhi is supreme" please forgive me but im only saying this on ss because all paths lead to god, they have their different maryadai but they still emphasize on meeting god. thats how you got ridhis and sidhis and peers and sheikhs, and the ved puraan were born. but what im saying is dont go on this site to say "sikhi is supreme" because people from different faiths (right now) have got the impression sikhi emphasized on oneness and that how all religions lead to the same one, same akal purakh. many gurmukhs have said this and even if you ask a sant, they will tell you the same thing. think of it like a mountain path, theres many paths to the top of the mountain, sometimes youll get the odd block in the middle of the road, but you can always go onto another path and get to the top. same way, there are many paths that lead to god, if you dont like one dharam, hey koi naa you can always jump onto the other path! in fact all dharams say naam simar karo. ok fair enough, the true religion is naam, but still dont start saying sikhi is supreme because there are people from different faiths that go onto this site to learn about sikhism. muslims go on here hindus go on here many religions go on it. sikhism isnt the only religion in the world that says we should merge into akal purakh. budhism say it, hindus do it. all sorts of dharams we havent even heard of say it as well. (ok buddihsm doesnt believe in god, but it still says naam simar karo, thats why the buddhist monks have alot of shakti in them!) but if you say sikhi is the best, then people from other sites will go back on to their website and start to say "sikhi is intolerant because it disses others faiths etc etc etc" if you said naam is the best then thats different. but what im saying is, im not having a go at you in my post, nor do i intend to be politically correct like some people who come on this site.... but what im saying, is for the sake that people dont get the wrong impression, please dont say sikhi is the best. because even though maharaj denounced some of the faiths at the time, it doesnt mean we have the right to start acting superior. get what im saying? take care bhul chukke muaff
  4. actually after reading the above post i just realised what bhenji was saying is true. but.... hang on, doesnt bhai gurdas ji di vars say that "naam is the true religion" the sakhis goes that guru nanak dev ji went to mecca and hindus and muslims asked him which was the best dharam, i think the vars go like "without doing good, both will end up crying" theek hai, so if guru sahib denounced these faiths, then why are his "sikhs" saying that "sikhi is the best" is that not a religion to you? 5. http://www.sikhnet.com/Sikhnet/music.nsf/e...33;OpenDocument whats the shabad that bhai balbir singh says after "deh Shhiva Bar Mohe Hai" and after the jokes he says. i know it sounds like dasam granth bani, so can anyone post translation. Bhul Chukke Muaaf
  6. hmmm, dont agree, i remember watching a video for RS, theyw ere taking the mick out of OTT Singhs (Sody Singh was doing that bit) and MArtin BAshir was asking him questions on who wants to be a millinaire. anyhow, for the 1 millionth question the question was "which of these paths does sikhism consider supreme" a) Islam b) Sikhism c) Hinduism d) All Paths Sody was like "OH BALLE BALLE IT IS SIKHISM" he lost the 1 million pounds or whatever. point is, sikhism does not consider itself to be the best in the world. in fact it says all paths lead to one. very sad how aaj kal di say that their own dharam is the best. 7. just to let sangat know, this was the guy.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/entertainme...arl_peberdy.jpg
  8. during the summer, das wanted to pick up and do AS Level Music in Sitar. my school was able to find me a teacher, and to my surprise he was a gora and was very very excellent... and because he played a raag in tintaal it made me like va va va va va va. he tuned my sitar as well and replaced a wire that i broke while tuning. but i decided not to take this as an academic course because i couldnt read music and plus i didnt do it for GCSE and i dont think i was experienced enoguh. so i thought i should do it as a hobby, and i still play it as a hobby. anyhow, while i had 2 lessons with the teacher, i asked him who tought him sitar, he said it was at the ramgharia guru ghar, where a teacher by the name of "Sohan Singh Seatle" would teach. however, because he was blind, he could not teach properly. to play sitar you need to hands to cling onto the wires like hooks, thats how you can play fast. a tip for future sitar wale people is to play in front of the mirror, that improves your sitar playing greatly. thats something i cant do for some reason. in general the guy was good, i learnt alot from him, i.e. how to play like theres a tambura in the back and how to sit properly. anyhow, can anyone tell me who sohan singh seatle was and are there any pics of him? 9. hmm, thanks k_singh ji, but my question is, whats the name of the CD that includes this shabad in? Bhul Chukke Muaaf

  13. this happened somehwere in nottingham, as i dont know the guy i have no idea who he was. he had a patka, a fess fess dhari on the sides but his dhari from the chin was big. so if the singhs of nottingham can scouer the streets for a pakhandi singh. but its happening all over UK, even newcastle (a gora area) if singhs come across these people, make sure you get their faces painted black and make them ride a donkey on a busy road! 14. haha, i remember when i was 3, i was watching this kids cartoon wth our class, some crappy educational thngy which i diistinctly remember as candle saying bye as kids, we all said bye to the thing. halfway as i was saying "byeeeee" my voice went. i looked around thinking "where has my voice gone?" there was another kid that was like "byeeeeee" then i thought "oh tera bhalaa hogya" and i vomitted on the poor kids shoulder, and he started crying and i was just startled, i had no idea what was going on. and it killed the whole atmosphere i remember they had to call my bibi in especially i still got a sweet from the teachers at the end of the day, even thought i ruined some poor kids day by doing ulte all over his white sweater. another time, a year later (so im four now), we used to get milk in nursery, and the little kid that was giving out milk and me got into some sort of argument. i trip him over and whatever milk he was carrying end up smashing. 15. singh i have no idea who the guy is, all i know that this happened to someone i know. Bhul Chukke Muaaf
  16. as you quite rightly said, they should be put on a donkey and paraded on southaal. but for us it would have to be melton rd or east park or st saviours melton seems better but please be aware of "singhs" who read peoples hands and do stupid stuff like this. i have heard of such stuff a good few times but the "singh" doing this at nottingham really takes the biscuit bhul chukke muaff
  17. it has come to my attention that singhs are now going out to complete strangers saying they can read peoples forehead and read hands which is what i came across from someone telling me this as they worked in nottingham. basically the story goes the man said "your very lucky as it states on your forehead" funny because she wore a cap "let me tell your future by looking at your hands" the person said "waheguroo da bharosa" theman was taken aback. the man said "if you have so much faith in waheguroo, why have you not got a chunni on!" the woman replied "waheguroo da bharosa" and finished off by saying "paag banan da ki pheda" he walked off he was kesdhari and he had a patka and had a funny voice...he spoke in half englsish half punjabi a message to all sangat is please aware of these mystical people who pose as singhs with their fess fess dharis and patkai. it has happened to many people around this country and a humble benti to the sarbhat sadh sangat to be aware of these people. if you find these people, please give them joothiya because they are making the sikh dharam look exactly like hinduism...only difference is that they make sikhs look like "long haired hindus" Bhull Chukke Muaaf
  18. hang on, what happened the brahmin mahants, i thought they came once the goray annexed punjab? where was this?????? obviously in india, but i mean which part of india? did this all take place in darbar sahib? i heard it was set to become a palace of queen victoria. or one of the royals. so many palaces, what is the queen gonna do with em all? sirch marnai? (hit them on her head?) Bhul Chukke Muaff
  19. ok, theres a story when one of the devotees of bhagat fareed ji (or kabir ji) brought them a horse. bhaghat ji (whichever one) said "i already have a horse" in sikhi, a horse symbolises the maan, mind if you control it, it takes you places but if you dont, it leads to destruction think of the film "alexander" when alexander the great managed to control a horse that no-one could control. only by pyaar and shardhaa di naal did he eventuallly control the horse. and it took him from greece all the way to india. now your dream, you either watched the film or you watched another film where a person tried to bring a horse under control and you were like "i want to do that" or you did so much paath and maharaj told you that you have to leanr to control your maan, hence the maan is symbolised as a horse. does that make sense now? bhul chukke muaaf
  20. bhenji, its not a question about if people have had similiar experiences. i told a certain dream in regards to devi devtai and i shouldnt have said that. dont tell peope these kind of stuff because if guru ji gave you his darshan he did it for a reason and this should not be told to anyone. keep it gupt but whatever maharaj wants to give you, he will give you in his own time (a test to see if you will have faith into thinking you will get it or not) horse symbolises the wavering man. you tried to keep it under control in bad times or good. bhul chukke muaaf
  21. Bolo Ji WAHEGUROOO Gursikha Man Vadhaiya Jin Mera Satgur Ditha Ramraje Koi Ghal Sunavai Har Nam Ki So Lagai Gursikh Man Mitha har Dargah Gursikh Paniaha Jin Mera Satgur Tutha Jan Nanak Har Har Hoea Har Har Man Vutha. On this day: Maharaj Sent a Curious Singh, who made Sikhs look positive, honest and hardworking in what they say and do. Sikhsangat.com celebrates this wth great shardhaa, pyaar, prem and Dhum Dhaam Di Naal Wahegurooooo and the Hukamnama Ji... :HP: :HP: :HP: :HP:
  22. http://www.sikhnet.com/Sikhnet/music.nsf/e...33;OpenDocument we all know sikhnet.com took a few cd's and audios and made a gurbani section so the sangat could listen to the paath. as you know, im currently going through some sort of phase which involves me liking raag keertan, and loving the taal "tin taal" the above shabad has it all, a perfect meaning, a a fast pace, guru jis instruments and tin taal. my question is, if this is on cd, whats the name of the cd that bhai balbir singh has made which features this shabad. any idea?
