  1. Homer Simpson will go soon a quick edit.... ". the creator is someone says he is mona and in that state self-servingly argues on other threads that sikhi roop is less important “than the inside”, -- in essence saying you are more important than sikhi itself" http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showto...l=Homer+Simpson lol so thats where your speech came from? "in reply to buddha_singh, lets not take this thread to a sikhi saroop thread, my view is if you want sikhi saroop, make sure you live up to the standards sikhi saroop requires inside and out and dont be like alot of aaj kal di singhs, be more distinctive to that and dont fall into a trap of showing how religious you are on the outside and you have nothing on the inside, because its the heart that counts. but if you want sikhi saroop, by all means go for it (because guru ji has said its essential) but lets not forget he also said you need to live up to the standards (like the story of the donkey in the tiger skin) just make sure you can live upto the standards set by the guru." but what im basically saying in there is, my belief is you need the heart of a singh to be a singh. anyway, what has been done, has been done now Bhul Chukke Muaff
  2. wanted to ask the sangat if they could help me find the following panktees. one which i remember Bhai Harnam Singh Srinager (Darbar Sahib Wale) singing "Hum Tinke Darshan Dekhale Dhur Pur Kur Kijai....Jo Gurmukh Naam Dhiande Tin Darshan Dejai" i think thats how the shabad goes. another one, is there a pankhtee in SGGS that goes something like... "Gursikh Phal Bolo Meray Bhai, Har Bolat Sab Paap Laie Jaaiye" Das was listening to Simran by Sant Baba Jaswant Singh Ji and these are the words he says. anyone? i ask maafi for any mistakes i have made and i ask sangat to please do an ardas for any major mistakes commited Bhul Chukke Muaff
  3. haha, we all have our interpretations, but true gyaan comes from simran and not some internet forum. Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh aassa basically translates to hope son translates to god, god hismelf was born. (well he wasnt, he was just formed somehow someway). this world is known as dharti maa, or in india "bharat maa" sadh di hune si. the line can be translated to god came first, then the world. some people back in the day once thought the world came first, and from the world god came...load of crap yes. guru can mean god in this case. but my interpreatation of this is maharaj falls at the feet of the true sikh who is gurmukh. Maharaj says listen to this beautiful shabad we know for a lion cannot herd sheep, it would be very weird. without naam, all the world is like the above...a very weird place. khq kbIr ju ies pd bUJY ] kehath kabeer j eis padh boojhai || Says Kabeer, one who understands this hymn, rwm rmq iqsu sBu ikCu sUJY ]5]9]22] raam ramath this sabh kishh soojhai ||5||9||22|| and chants the Lord's Name, comes to understand everything. ||5||9||22||
  4. ok so we have seen the "yes its a good idea" side now over to the "no it isnt a good idea" Bhul Chukke Muaff
  5. another problem ive heard of is "people take massive bags and just grab all the langar they can take, stuff it in one bag and quickly run like the wind...thats why so many people go, just for the food"
  6. 33 people have read it and just 3 people gave a vote?
  7. A Kandola Khabraan Special "unreliable sources" (some indian radio station?) have claimed that the council will not allow the consumption of the good old cha, samosai, pakorai, juice whilst people go on the nagar keertan. ok cutting that out.... basically, my mum told me earlier that "on the radio" she heard that the council of leicester want to make sure people no longer eat whilst they go on the nagar keertan (whilst they walk) for the following reasons... 1) people leave the rubbish on the floor and expect the council to clean up (the money spent cleaning up could be spent elsewhere) 2) the distance between GNG and GTB isnt far (the two main gurdwaray of leicester), hence if people get so hungry, they can take langar either before the nager keertan starts or after. like i said, unless there are sangat who know more about this can confirm if this is true, until then i wouldnt believe the council would try to ban sewadars giving prahshad to sangat , but saying that, during maharaj's time, did sewadars give langar out? but just out of curiosity, what does sangat think of this? anyhow, sangats opinion of this is............. 9. we had some close relatives down our house yesterday and we were talking about vaisakhi. somehow in someway we started to talk about jesus and christmas (for those of you who dont know, jesus was not born on christmas day, in fact no-one knows when he was born and somehow people chose 25th december as jesus's birthday) talking about that our relative also said "we have no idea when the gurus were born also" everyone was baffled, and some of us were like "they are confirmed, just like Vaisakhi" our relative laughed and said that alot of our elders have no idea when they born, if you ask someone who is old when they were born they will say "it was on a foggy day" hence they would assume they were born sometime in february. but obviously, they will not know when they were born. even some people in our family have no idea when they were born, some may have "may" written on their certificate but one could say its disputed as another relative may say "im sure your bday was in november" the ghal ended with one question that id like to put foreward to the sangat, which is.... "if people 50 years back have no idea when they were born, what makes you think people 500 years back knew exactly when their birthday was?" and hence relating this to sikhi.... "how do we know exactly when the gurus were born if many people lost track of time in india (at that time)?" and hence why do we celebrate gurpurabs on that specific day if we have no idea when guru ji came to this earth? 13. just out of curiosity, can anyone change the two miri piri talwars to two ak-47 rifles? a groups of us were talking about it in class about how good the nagar keertan was and how one of them wanted a hoody which had "defenders of the faith" writen. at the back was a khanda but not with the two miri piri, instead two ak-47 rifles. just wandering, can anyone actually change the kahnda sign like that? bhul chukke muaff

  16. why are different raags sung at different times of the day. and in sikhi, is it wrong to listen to a raag which should be played before rehraas (just before your going bed) and whats the reason?.... i ask, because i like listening to a recording by Prof Kirpal Singh which was done at Sri Darbar Sahib, it was done before rehraas (and he even sings "har jug jug bhaghat upaia...." another bibi heard prof kirpal singh and said she couldnt listen to this recording because its an evening raag...hence she had to listen to this in the evening. left me baffled as to why there are certain times to listen to certain shabads. but can anyone answer? Bhul Chukke Muaff
  17. the (third?) international Sri Guru Ram Das Ji FREE Gurmat Sangeet Academy is to be held soon at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Gurdwara (and i assume in a gurdwara in nottingham somewhere?) two ustaads will be coming from India and teaching people of all ages how to do keertan in raag using any instrument. however, vajaa, tabla and sitar will be provided. but if anyone would like to learn taus or a similiar instrument, please bring your own. the academy will be start at the end of may. for sangat of leicester (and nottingham), please check the east park rd gurdwara for more details a big thank you to the huge hearted sewadars who have made every effort to bring these great singhs over from India to teach people how to do keertan. Bhul Chukke Muaff

  22. not the point, they are old enough, big enough and undoubedtly daft enough to know that kuriya should not go on stage and say "i want to wear a mini skirt" they are old enough to know not to wear a mini skirt, definatly big enough to have more sharam than goray who dont even do this as much! the fact that they go on and remember the shaheeds and try and make solemn moments one moment and then in the evening have a 6-2am "picnic" at the student union. question is, there are so many singhs in CA, Toronto that have sooooooo much naam inside them, why arent these singhs taking the stand? why arent these guys educating Jakara? bhul chukke muaff
