  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Dear JSS Ji, im terribly sorry that i said something wrong. it breaks my heart that i offended somebody. that truly was not my intention. i think i should be more careful about posting such things about great souls such as Mother Teresa. However I'm not basing this on something that i heard or something. There was a documentary on her after her passing. It talked about her and her life. I heard in there and other sources about her humanitarian work towards "Christians." She is respected soo much also because she was one of the first Parcharaks of Christianity. I had also heard that she helped some ppl who were not religious, but she helped them if they went to the center in Calcutta, if they showed interest towards Christianity. My point is, Im not making this stuff up....i did hear this on tv. I would never dare make up such stuff about great religious souls. if i am wrong, i humbly apologize on the spot. I ask Akaal Purkh and Mother Teresa for forgiveness if im wrong. maaf kario Jee _/\_
  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh here is some info on the life & times of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji. from http://www.sikhcybermuseum.org -------------------------------------------------------- Puran Singh, Bhagat Great Saint and helper of the disabled (1904-1992) Bhagat Puran Singh Ji is undoubtedly the single Sikh Hero of this century who worked totally selflessly all his life to provide the last hope to the mentally and terminally ill patients. Whenever he use to see a deserted dead body (human or animal) immediately he would prepare (by his own hand) a grave and give the human or animal a deserving respect of death. He was to Sikhism, what Mother Teresa is to Catholicism. Against the backdrop of violence and poverty in 1947 he established a premier institute which takes care of sick, disabled and forlorn persons. Whatever money and financial resources he could gathered he used it to establish this institute. It is also believed that he was almost nominated to receive Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 but by not giving him prize it was the loss of sick and disabled persons as well as Nobel Prize committee. His life story is a saga of grit, determination, faith in the almighty and unending love for the suffering humanity. A very brief sketch of Bhagat Ji's life is given below. Bhagat Puran Singh, born at Rajewal, Distt. Ludhiana on June 4 1904., at the house of Chaudhari Chibu Mal and Mehtab Kaur. In an interview to Patwant Singh Bhagat Puran Singh discloses how he became a Sikh ,in his early lif e he use to travel a lot from village to village and would stay at a Hindu Temple. One day when he was staying at a Temple Brahmins told him to clean the temple and then when he was done they sat in front of him and ate the food without offering him., Incidentally next time he had to stay at a Gurdwara and Bhai ji of Gurdwara not only gave him good food but also a cot and a glass of milk afterwards., without asking for any sewa for Gurdwara. After this Bhagat Puran Singh didn't even thought twice and became a Khalsa. He set out in life for the service of the suffering humanity- the greatest religion. He founded Pingalwara in 1947 with a few discarded patients. He was also a writer as well as publisher and an environmentalist. Pingalwara is a very big home of human service. Bhagat Ji's contribution in spreading awareness about the global dangers of environment pollution, increasing soil erosion etc are also commendable. His dedication was awarded with heaps of honours by many quarters. Prestigious among these was the Padamshri award in 1979, which he surrendered in the wake of the army attack on the Golden Temple in 1984. He left for his heavenly abode on August 5, 1992. As a sturdy youth of moderate means about 70 years ago, Bhagat Puran Singh saw a little boy who couldn’t walk. He decided to be the boy’s carrier "Until the latter could use his own legs". The boy never did and Bhagat Puran Singh carried him on his shoulders until the time he himself became too frail to walk. And he decided to collect humans who did not have the abilit to help themselves. His Pingalwara became a home for orphans, mentally retarded persons and, the totaly deprived sections of society. It was a primitive place and neither society nor the State helped. The media winked a lot, took occasional notice and lapsed back to winking. But Bhagat Puran Singh carried on. He remained an avid collector ever since. He collected "human pebbles" from the streets and housed them in Pingalwara. He collected funds , in driblets rather than droves, to run it. And he collected all the purposeful articles in the newspapers and magazines writings on the economy, environment, public health, population, etc. -- published booklets of these and distributed them free to interested people. The front page of newspapers never interested him. It was amazing to see how his eyes went straight to reports and write-ups dealing with human problems and welfare. He lived all his life for others and packed 72 hours of activity in a normal day. At this time Pingalwara is run by Dr Inder Jit Kaur, she is also President of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society(Regd). She has embarked upon a mission to produce a movie on the life of Bhai Puran Singh Ji. Please spread this information.
  3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji Khalsa Ji, Bhagat Puran Singh Ji Khalsa's contributions to the PANTH and all of humanity are remarkable. Simply amazing. Unfortunately, Bhagat Ji does not get any recognition. Nobody knows exactly how much seva they did. Yes, Bhagat Ji was nominated for a nobel prize, but they did not win simply because the prize is controlled by MEDIA. whoever is more "well known" will win and its all actually biased. If certain countries' governments make donations and stuff, their citizens or representatives are more likely to win. we have all read that Mother Teresa did a lot of humanitarian seva. I dont meant to take anything away from her seva, but let me add she only helped those people that were Christians. Bhagat Puran Singh Ji Khalsa helped everybody, regardless of religion, caste, race, creed, color of skin, etc. There was absolutely no discrimination. Bhagat Ji helped countless people. Bhagat Ji felt the brotherhood of all human beings. They felt pain for everybody without any discrimination. That is what Bhai Kinehiya Ji taught us as well. Something we can learn from. I was thinking....a real Sikh should treat everybody with great respect and Pyaar, regardless of religion, skin color etc. but a lot of Sikhs do not do that. We are showing differences amongst our own Panth. Such as Jathay. We treat members of other Jathay differently. Thats not very "KHALSA" like (pure). Not all Sikhs are like this...but a lot of ppl do show difference. If we haven't realized how to LOVE other GurSikhs....then.....we haven't realized how to LOVE the GURU. Sorry im going off topic h ere...but we should not just look at a picture or read the Jeevan of such Mahaan GurSikhs like Bhagat Puran Singh Ji....we should copy their qualities too. After all, we are "Sikhs"....students...until we die....so we should be learning.....at all times....til we die. bhul chuk maaf karo Ji....
  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh thank you Santbir Singh. great post. thats a very good point...even those these people have not been exposed to the Panth and other Guru Sahibs, they still have more sharda than a lot of "Sikhs" from Punjab. very true.
  5. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh you are doing Great Seva, AmaN Bha Ji. Keep it up. Maharaj hor vee Kirpa Karn.
  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh thank you for all of the information Santbir Singh. I was talking to a senior Singh from the Taksal one day. He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj had told some Singhs to prepare a Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and to send it to Mecca. This Hukam was given from Sri Damdama Sahib, after the Damdami Bir was prepared. Obviously, Bhai Mani Singh Ji & Baba Deep Singh Ji were given the seva to prepare the Bir. I'm almost positive its in arabic. this is interesting as alot of people dont know about this and nobody talks about it much. Guru Maharaj wanted the message of TRUTH to be spread, not only GurSikhs from Punjab were given exposure to Gurbani. They wanted to clarify doubts to the entire world and thats why the Bir was went to Mecca. Just an interesting fact: When Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj travelled, they also made stops in Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc. and they met lots of ppl there who fell in Love with GURU JI and their message. They became GurSikhs of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. However, those ppl remained there due to their worldy affairs and family. They did not get a chance to see other Guru Sahibs. Their families to this day follow the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They wear dastars, keep kes, wear simple bana, vegetarians, do daily Nitnem....(im not sure which Banis exactly...ive heard its Japji Sahib, Asa Di Vaar, So Dar, Sohila, others...basically Bani written by Guru Nanak Dev Ji) Yeah, these people are GurSikhs of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and they are keeping that Rehit given to them by Guru Nanak Dev Ji alive. One of my relatives went there and they saw these people. They were sooo surprised to see them cau se they look similar to modern day GurSikhs. The dont wear a Sri Sahib though. However, they keep a BARSHA with them. it is a spear like weapon. They said they were also told to be prepared from oppresspors. These facts were really interesting to me. Just thought id share them with the Sangat. I'm not saying they can be called "GurSikhs" cause we are to follow all 10 GURU SAHIBS. but these ppl dont know much after Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Im just sharing what i heard from a Singh. Also, a Singh went there and wrote about these people in his book. I dont know the name of the book or the Singh. I was told by somebody that these people are written about in a book. if i said anything wrong, please forgive me
  7. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji Amardeep Singh Ji, where did you get those translations from ?? I would love to read more translations of DASAM BANI.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh wow!! thank you soooo much for sharing that Gurjeet Kaur Bhainjee. Waheguru. that was an amazing story. :TH: ps. these smiley icon things are cool
  9. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Pyaaray Khalsa Ji actually Gill, that wasn't the story...that one is a different one. but thanks you for sharing it with the Sat Sangat. tomorrow daas will share the story. oh by the way...id like to ask the Sangat for sorry cause all these stories that im blessed to share....they are such looong posts. maaaf kario Ji.
  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji benti to Sangat: plz do not say things about Shaheed Jathedar Bhai Talwinder Singh Babbar. there is noo proof to any of the negatives things said about them. we are falling victim to government propoganda. we must always give Shaheed Singhs the benefit of the doubt. ppl will always have problems and will start up rumours to reduce their contribution or to spoil their image. by the way, Shaheed Jathedar Talwinder Singh Babbar was mentioned by Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale in their speeches. Sant Ji thanked Bhai Talwinder Singh for their bravery. They helped when Sant Ji was in jail. bhul chuk maaf kario Jee
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji a lot of GurSikhs burn their dead kes. a Singh told me this example and it made perfect sense: our Kakkars are held in such HIGH respect. They are our ANG, our body parts. If our Kirpan, Kanga, Kara or Kashera was to get damaged and became not usable, COULD we throw it in the garbage?? Of course not !! think about that...what if a Sri Sahib's handle got damaged or the sheath (mian) broke or something....would you THROW it in the garbage ??? of course not! Waheguru. it would hurt sooo much seeing a Sri Sahib in the garbage. Same thing with a Kara or Kanga. If a Kanga broke, you can't throw it away. You just cant. the same way, when coming your Kes, some will come out...they are dead hair...out of respect...we CANNOT just throw them away...its wrong. Our Pita Ji, Dhan SatGuru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj Suchay Patshaa Ji has blessed us with Kes....we must respect them to the max. Even the dead ones, that's why the proper respectful thing to do is to do agun bhet sanskar (burn them). bhul chuk maaf kario Jee
  12. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji _/\_ daas was doing veechar with a Singh the other day and they told me an amazing story... there was this person who died and later on came back to life a few hours later. That person got to experience what happens when you die. He remembered everything. He talked about how the Jamdoots (angels of death) how they came to get him when he died and he talked about his meeting with Dharam Raj. If the Sangat is interested, i would be more than happy to share this story. The reason why I am asking is that, sometimes such stories are not welcomed by ppl...they dont believe them. I was cautious of this so I asked some very devoted GurMukhs who told me that it makes sense, everything that this person told about the "after life" is true cause it agrees with what GURBANI says. so if the Sangat wants, i could share this story....it can only help us GurSikho. Can you imagine if somebody told US exactly what happens when we die??? It will help our Sikhi...help us be better Sikhs. if anybody objects to this...please let me know...ill wait a day or two...if somebody posts who does not want to hear the story, then i wont post it. i ask for forgiveness from the GURU SANGAT in advance. Waheguru Maharaj Kirpa Karn. bhul chuk maaf karo Ji.
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Guru Pyaaray Khalsa Ji daas was listening to Katha of Sant Giani Kartar Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and they told this Sakhi and I would like to share it with the Sangat. --------------------- During the time of our 6th Guru Sahib, Dhan SatGuru HarGobind Sahib Maharaj Suchay Patshaa Ji, there was a Sikh who was not very much of a Gurmukh. When diwans would happen the Sikh would show up, Matha tek and leave. He looked like a Sikh cause he wore bana & a dastar, but he did not practice Sikhi. He didn't do Simran, Nitnem, Seva, Bani, Kirtan, nothing. He didnt do anything. He would just come to the Gurdwara Sahib, matha tek then eat langar and go home. GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB MAHARAJ JI was ANTARJAMI (knows everything) so Maharaj was observing this Sikh and seeing if his habits and behaviour improved at all. Over a few weeks, Maharaj saw NO change in the Sikh. So after that, one day MAHARAJ decided to call the Sikh. Even though the Sikh wasn't really practicing Sikhi, he still had the utmost respect for MAHARAJ. (how could you not?!) So the Sikh went up to Maharaj and said "Hanji Suchay Patshaa Ji." Maharaj said "I have something important to tell you, you will die within 7 days." After hearing the Bachan of Maharaj, the Sikh got shocked. He didn't doubt Maharaj's bachan at all and went straight home. Over the next couple of days, the behaviour and habits of the Sikh changed BIGTIME. He started waking up at early Amrit Vela, did Nitnem and more Banis, did Seva at the Gurdwara, became a nicer person to his family and others and he did SWAAS SWAAS SIMRAN because all he could think about was death. Over a couple of days, the JEEVAN of this Sikh changed dramatically. All you would hear from his mouth was BANI and WAHEGURU. He did endless Seva at the Gurdwara Sahib. He became a lot nicer to others....his PYAAR for everything and everybody increased. All of this because he knew that his TIME was almost up...he was going to die in 7 days. As the 7th day came, the Jeevan of the Sikh got even better....he slept less, ate less and devoted much more time to BANI, SIMRAN & SEVA. After the 7th day ended, the Sikh got confused....because he didn't die!! He was really surprised cause MAHARAJ told him 7 days !! Everybody knows GURU'S BACHAN are always true and so this Sikh was confused cause he didnt die after 7 days. So he decided to go to Maharaj and ask them. When MAHARAJ saw the Sikh coming, they could see the change in the avastha and jeevan of the GurSikh. His face was glowing with Naam. His body was committed to seva. His mind was at ease. Maharaj was quite pleased to see the change in the Sikh. Before the Sikh could speak, Maharaj said "So you have come! How have you been for the last 7 days?" The Sikh became emotional and uttered "Through YOUR KIRPA, MAHARAJ, i have changed for the better. I now read Bani, do Simran, do Seva and I enjoy it soo much. I fear that I didn't do enough as my time is near." Then the Sikh asked Maharaj, "but Maharaj, tusee said that i will die in 7 days, and today is the 8th day, your bachan did not come true, what happened Ji ?" Maharaj spoke, "but it is true, the bachan is true." After hearing this, the Sikh got a little bit confused. Then Maharaj clarified things by saying, "I had told you that you will die WITHIN 7 days, I did not mean you have 7 more days to live, I meant you will die WITHIN the 7 days of the week. (monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday). We do not know how much time AKAL PURKH has gi ven us on this earth. We will all die one day, and that of course will be one of the 7 days of the week, we just dont know which one! Therefore, yes you WILL die within the 7 days of the week" Maharaj told the Sikh, "I told you this, so that you will realize that death is always sooo close and that would hopefully result in you practicing Sikhi." The Sikh was overwhelmed and Matha Teked to MAHARAJ in appreciation. --------------------------------------- Pyaaray Sat Sangat Jio, our PANTH's history is sooo beautiful, from the Pyaar & Love to the Justice & Shaheedi. We can benefit soo much by reading history and Sakhis. We can learn soo much from the Sakhis. This Sakhi reminds us how close death is. If we were to die tomorrow, what would we do?? If we were smart, we'd go to the Gurdwara Sahib and do Simran and Seva. Act while you can GurSikho! We are all going to die....we just dont know when. ----------------------- while sharing this Sakhi...i KNOW i made several mistakes, i dont think i could explain it very thoroughly, so please forgive this moorakh. I beg for Sumath. bhul chuk maaf kario Jee. _/\_ ----------- All that matters-----> WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU WAHEGURU...
  14. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh if the Sangat wants, i can share some more great stories and Sakhis about the topic of death. i have heard some in Katha and read some in books. i would also like to request the Sangat to share some stories regarding death. and how it can help our Sikhi. bhul chuk maaf karo Ji
  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Pyaaray Khalsa Ji id like to share an AMAZING story...of AMRIT.....its helped me a lot ------- I went to India in 2000 and we visited family there and one of our distant relatives...some Uncle Ji...we went to their house. He was Amritdhari...well so i thought. I remember seeing him before on prior visits to India and he always wore a Sri Sahib and had a dastar. The whole family was Amritdhari. But this time when we went in 2000, i noticed he wasnt wearing his Sri Sahib. Other than that, he looked the same. I found out that he had broken his Amrit. He had committed a bujjer kurehit. He had a drink of shraab (beer) one day as he was tempted and couldn't resist. He used to drink a long time ago, but i guess those desires returned. side note: Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale in one of their speeches said that after RECEIVING the gift of AMRIT...it is an unbelievable sin to drink alcohol. It is such an insult to Kalgidhar Pita SatGuru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Sant Ji said that if somebody who had taken AMRIT and then drank alcohol, that person deserved to have gas spilled on them and then being burnt alive. That is the equivalence of the crime. Sant Ji said its that bad of a deed to drink alcohol after AMRIT. Consuming an intoxicant after being blessed with AMRIT is such an insult and is degrading to the importance and significance of AMRIT. back to the story, so my Uncle Ji had broken his Amrit after he drank alcohol. I was really shocked to see all of this. I stayed quiet. My Taya Ji was with us from Canada too and they were going to Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib . He asked my Uncle (alcohol guy) if he wanted to come along. He had never been to Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib so he agreed. There is a train that goes from Sri Amritsar Sahib to Takhat Sach Khand Sri Hazur Sahib. The name of the train is the SACH KHAND express. My taya ji and the alcohol uncle boarded that train. On the way they talked and my Taya Ji, who is Amritdhari talked to my alchohol uncle and explained to him the severity of his mistake of drinking and breaking AMRIT. the alcohol uncle felt bad now and realized his mistake. My taya ji explained how we need GURU SAHIB to guide us to AKAAL PURKH. GURPARSAD: with the BLESSING of the TRUE GURU, one can realize AKAAL PURKH. Because we can die any second, we must be the GURU's SIKH and stay within REHIT and remain as the responsibility of Kalgidhar Pita SatGuru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj as they will take us to Sach Khand. back to the story, as my taya ji and uncle ji reached Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib, they had darshan of GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI and the sevadars at the Takhat notified the Sangat that the next day at AMRITVELA there will be an AMRIT SANCHAR and that anybody who wanted to become the Sikh of GURU SAHIB should give their name. My taya ji convinced my alcohol uncle to give his name and get Pesh from the PANJ. So they woke up Amritvela and got ready. My Taya Ji went into the Darbar at Amritvela while my alcohol uncle went to the other room where they had the Amrit Sanchar. My taya ji was waiting anxiously and was excited. HERES WHAT HAPPENED in the AMRIT SANCHAR: as you all know the ones who are to get Pesh must speak with the Panj before the AMRIT ceremony starts. and the whole Sangat can hear what mistake the person confesses about that way they feel ashamed in a way and wont make the same mistake again. Before my uncle could speak with the Panj, he realized he DIDNT have a kara. I guess he had taken it off after breaking the AMRIT. He asked somebody f or a kara but all the sevadars that were providing the kakkars had left already and there were no karay. Fortunately, another Singh was wearing 2 karay and gladly gave one of his karay to my uncle. he was relieved. then my uncle ji confessed his mistake to the Panj and everybody receiving AMRIT that day heard it. then he was told to sit down as he would have to take Amrit again. the person who had given his kara to my uncle was soooo furious over what he had heard. he couldnt BELIEVE that my uncle had drank alcohol after receiving AMRIT. so the person took his kara back and said i cannot give it to you....you insulted GURU JI and why didnt your kara remind you it was WRONG when you picked up the alcohol. you insulted the power of the kara and GURU JI's AMRIT. my uncle felt soooo ashamed. the AMRIT ceremony had not started yet and others were still speaking with PANJ. and from what i know....my uncle was soo ashamed and disappointed that he left the room. (i guess the Paredar let him out as its ones own choice if they want to take Amrit or not) so my uncle left the Amrit Sanchar. when my taya ji spoke to him....he was expecting PYAAR and JOY....but instead got disappointment and sadness. after hearing the whole story, my taya ji was saddened. he said its upsetting that my uncle had left the Amrit Sanchar. my alcohol uncle said "oh well...ill take it again when we go back to Punjab" HERES THE TURNING POINT JEEO: when they returned to Punjab, my taya ji came back to Canada as his visit of india was finished and my alcohol uncle got CANCER!! after getting cancer he got physically weaker by the day and stayed in bed. a few months later, he DIED in his bed. Sat Sangat Jio, my alcohol uncle died WITHOUT receiving AMRIT. He died without being the GURSIKH of the true KING SATGURU GOBIND SINGH JI MAHARAJ. he died and look how CLOSE he came to receiving AMRIT. he needed a kara. IF he had kept his kara originally then we wouldnt have needed a kara from the other person and could have quietly received AMRIT again. but because he had taken off his kara and didnt respect it when he DRANK alcohol, he paid the price. he left his world as a normal person....not as a Sikh of the GURU. the same way a university student can drop out of school, a "Sikh" can drop out of the KHALSA. but the difference is the GURU JI is soo perfect they never kick anybody out. We quit ourselves. The GURU JI is sooo great that they always accept you as long as you realize your mistake. Their arms are always open ready to take us in. So make yourself the child of that perfect GURU. ------ this is a true story Sat Sangat Jio, reminding us that death is always near. Take action while you still can. i apologize for any mistakes. sorry if i said anything wrong or offended somebody or said too much. Waheguru. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
