Annual Kirtan Vaisakhi Smagam

Akhand Kirtani Jatha UK’s Annual INTERNATIONAL AKHAND KIRTAN SMAGAM 2012 will commemorate via the essence of Shabad Guru, Vaisakhi, Shaheedi Saka of Amritsar 1978 & TO HIGHLIGHT AND SUPPORT THE CURRENT SITUATION IN PUNJAB from Monday 2nd April to Sunday 8th April 2012

Akhand Kirtani Jatha UK invites you to join sangat from all over the world for the 17th Annual International Akhand Kirtan Event. Many kirtani jathas and sevadaars from around the world will be taking part in kirtan seva. Gursikh Kirtanis have been invited from India, France, Australia, USA, Canada and throughout the Guru Khalsa Panth

Smagam Breakdown

Monday 2nd April - Wednesday 4th April, 2012

Sri Akhand Patth Sahib: 10am Aramb - 5pm Bhog followed by:

Rehras Sahib 5.30-6pm then Akhand Kirtan: 6-9pm

Thursday 5th April 2012:

Asa Di // Kirtan: 6-10am

Rehras Sahib 5.30-6pm then Akhand Kirtan: 6-9pm

Friday 6th April 2012:

Asa Di // Kirtan: 6-10am

Rehras Sahib 5.30-6pm then Akhand Kirtan: 6-9pm

Saturday 7th April 2012:

Asa Di // Kirtan: 6-10am

Rehras Sahib 5.30-6pm then Akhand Kirtan: 6-Midnight

Sunday 8th April 2012:

Morning Kirtan: 10.30am-1pm

Raensabai Kirtan: 7pm-5am

Additional Programmes

· GATKA DISPLAY 1-2pm - 08/04/2012 (Martial Arts display from youth from all over the world)

· Special exhibition will be on display in National Sikh Museum covering history from the Guru Khalsa Panth

· Daily Gurbani Santhiya sessions with Giani Kulwinder Singh and other learned Gursikhs

· Daily seminars with elder Gursikhs on topics of Naam, Jeevan, Rehit and Panthic Seva. These will be from 2pm to 4pm, with contributions from Gursikhs including Jathedar Bhai Raghbir Singh, Bhai Jarnail Singh, Bhai Surjit Singh, Dr Daljit Singh, Giani Kulwinder Singh, Bhai Pyara Singh, amongst others.

AMRIT SANCHAAR: Sunday 8th April at 2pm at Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Derby

Can all ablakhyees contact Bhai Taranjeet Singh (07877 888874) to provide their names for the Amrit sanchaar.

If any persons do not have full kakars, then AKJ UK will provide them as part of the seva.

Live Broadcast

The whole Smagam & Raensbhai will be broadcast live on http://www.akj.org. It will also be shown live on TV Channels in Europe . More details will be released soon on the website.

Accommodation

Accommodation has been arranged for the whole Smagam. Bibian accommodation has been specially arranged. For further details, contact Bhai Baljit Singh on 07795 545475

Airport Pickups

Transport will be arranged for all Gursikhs arriving from abroad at Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham , and all other UK Airports. Please contact Bhai Onkar Singh (07737 749556).

*Amrit Sanchaar*

The Amrit Sinchaar Samagam will start @ 2pm. Sri Guru Singh Sahba Gurdwara, Princess Street, Derby, DE23 8NT

With respect to getting pesh, please remember the following:

1. Wear 5 Kakaars, including Keski and Dastaar. The colours for Keski and Dastaar are Blue, Black, Basanti/Orange and White.

2. Wear Gurmukhi Baana . Males should not wear Pajaami while females should wear Pajaami. Bibiyaan who wear a suit, must ensure that the suit is plain and appropriate.

3. Kirpan must be made of Sarbloh and held in Gaatra.

4. Kachhera must be White only.

5. Karra must be made of Sarbloh.

6. All Abhilaakhis must come after Body & Kesh Ishnaan.

7. 5 Kakaars Will be provided as free Seva if needed.

Note – It is strongly advised all New Abhilaakhis should do 2 hours Mool Mantra Jaap & 7 Baniaa in preparation for Amrith. (Ideally starting months before)
