Visions Before Death

Could someone please explain what this means. Someone close has recently passed on. Before they passed they were not very well and they could see people/things. For example They saw a person outside looking at them They saw a man i think looking at them again writing something down. A cow at the top of the stairs about to fall. I dont know if this is the mind playing tricks or not functioning correctly, but i'm pretty sure this all means something, does anyone know.? thanks

I Need The Sangat's Opinions

WJKK WJKF, I would like to ask the sangat a few questions about practices my parents try to enforce upon me and my siblings and encourage us to follow them as much as possible and I would like to see where the sangat stands on these issues. I've listed them below: 1. My father in particular says that we must not eat from others as when we do, they take away at least 25 Sukhmani Sahib worth of our pun from all the paath that we do. And that people at our local gurudwara sometimes come with degh which gets mixed into the degh, the gurudwara singhs make and that to take as little as possible. He says that we must take degh but these people will take away all the effort we …

Hello everyone, I am currently a teenager living in the United States. Growing up, I have always been accustomed to sikhism--my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts--all have very strong faith and path everyday. Moving to America, it has been a little hard for them to translate this faith into me, I live in a predominantly white town, with the closest Gurudawara being 2 hours away. I know how to speak basic punjabi, I've learned it all my life, and I do path everyday—once in the morning, once before I go to sleep. However, know that I am growing up, I want to take my faith to the next level. I have had small instances where I really felt the presence of God with me/aroun…

How To Tell Mum I Want To Wear A Pagh? (Haircut->Pagh)
by Guest Lakhvir- 2 replies

WJKK WJKF, I am a 22 year old haircutted Sikh in the UK. All my life I've been haircutted, but I've always had a big interest in Sikhi from a young age and have always personally wanted to at some point in my life wear a pagh. I've been dating a girl too who I intend to marry but cannot do so until I wear a pagh, so of course this has naturally pushed me to make a decision to wear a pagh soon. However I don't know how I should tell my family because I'm so sure they're against it Having completed university and having a job ready in August, I really haven't done anything wrong in my life( i don't drink or smoke). My father used to wear a pagh, however my parents are d…

Pesh For Eggs And Gelatine (Accident)?
by Guest GuptSingh- 2 replies

VJKK VJKF A while back I was with a few Singh's and they decided to go to Boston Pizza. I don't eat out much unless I'm 100% sure the food is safe (the only time I eat fast-food is if the sangat I'm with wants to go eat something). I ended up finding out today that Boston Pizza uses egg in their bread. At the time my mentality was that the older Singh's probably know if it's fine so I didn't question anything due to the circumstance. Do I have to go pesh for this? Or would ardas be enough? Another situation happened to me a while back where I accidentally ate a small amount of yogurt that had gelatine. I asked a few different people and they said because it was an accid…

Sikh Births - A Little Help Pointing Me In The Right Direction
by Guest John H- 2 replies

Hi friends reading this, I am a 35 year old Anglo Saxon male living in Northern England. My friends baby is due within the month and I would very much like to mark this special occasion in a traditional way. Just maybe offer a small inexpensive gift. I understand some of the traditions involved regarding the temple and naming. Then the grandparents have a role. Sorry to be vague folks but I don't want to drop the ball and seem inappropriate. Is it best just swerving it all together and with a little distance offer best wishes. Thank you so much for any help given. John

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, According to the following website dr joseph has spent 30 years researching and developing naam yoga but he has made a mockery of sikh religion by manipulating gurbani. If anyone lives in usa please make a formal complaint. http://josephmichaellevry.com http://www.rootlight.com/about_gurunam.htm They use kachi bani and dr joseph claims he developed naam and harmoniyum and its patent to his company. There is no reference on his website of taking it from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Its not the yoga which heals but its gurbani which they reciete. His citys mayor actually apreciated him with a certificate for developing this ! A…

Wjkk wjkf Basically the situation is that i live in a lovely family with caring parents and jolly siblings. But the problem which i find is now arising is that ive begun to notice that my parents are doing the typical indian thing ofalways talking negative about people, bless them they have always been kind towards everyone but not always recieved back what they shouldve in the past.... it was there i the past too but it wasnt so bad, ive begun to notice that sometimes i find them saying things which i consider quite mean to someone, which leaves me very shocked! Ive tried telling them and they haven't really appreciated it and instead im always left feeling that i …

Hello, I have a problem with my joora. My hair is pretty short due to me not taking care of it when I was younger. I am 17 years old. My hair is about to my bellybutton. the problem is when I do a joora, the part after the knot is not long enough to wrap around tightly, so after i wrap it, it will get undone because it is loose. is there anyway to grow my hair longer soon?

Following Sikhism
by Guest Solidus- 2 replies

I have an interest in Sikhs and the Punjab. After starting to study it, I have the impression that following Sikhism is so impractical and difficult. Could you guys answer some questions? Is it mandatory for all Sikhs to never cut any of their hair, meaning its a sin if they do? People eat meat for the taste, how can one eat something and not like or dislike the taste of it? Sikhs believe that there is goodness in every religion, so do Hindus, Jews, Christians, Muslims, go to heaven as well? or is it only Sikhs?

Dear friends, Discussion of topic like masturbation is embarrassing but we have make it clear is masturbation a keraht or bajar keraht. I asked to few amrtdahri persons (even serched on internet )they views didn't matched thier were like this :- 1. It is keraht but not bajat keraht 2. It bajar kehrat even highest of all of them. 3. Can't say, panj payeri don't tell about so we can conclude it is not a bajar keraht ( which if we do then we are no more amritdari persons ). Now my question is masturbation a part of bajar keraht or but due to embarrassment one talk about masturbation.
