I have a tough question. I am a sevadar at a Sikh institution, and recieved a call from someone who has recently quit their duties. She gave me some info about the institution and some duties that need to be fulfilled. Then she said, don't tell anyone that i talked to you about this. Now i'm confused. If i stay quiet, and she tells someone else that she talked to me, then they will think i am upto something weird behind their backs. I don't want other members to become suspicious of me (for no reason at all). The reason for this is that my mother is like always eating my jooth and she is not amrithdhari! She will deliberately give more dhal and sabhjee when we have roti and says dont worry i will eat the rest. I need advice as to wether this is wrong; A family I know are using the Gurdwara kitchen to prepare food to then transport to a hall where meat and alcohol is being served...I talked to the family about my concern and they said that I was over-reacting and it isnt really Guru Ka Langar unless the Bhog has happened and as that is not happening it is okey for this to happen and that they also have the permission of the Gurdwara. i knw on normal days you should go sleep on time and wake up for Amritvela but like on New Years you come bak from the Gurdwara at like 2am, is it ok to do your AmritVela Japp/Nitnem straight away, or should one go to sleep for a while and then get up? i mean in this case does not sleeping still makin it AmritVela (technically) or not. is sleep required in this case cuz mostlikely one would miss their AmritVela due to lack of sleep what you say?

Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
