I'm having trouble on what to do in situations where others people's stupidity is costing them a lot, and if i let it happen im gaining a lot (at little loss to them), but if i stop it (which i kind of feel is the right thing to do), i gain nothing at then no loss to them. When people be idotic, for example if i buy something and the guy says itll be here sunday (and today is friday night and they dont deliver on a sunday), and i then say ok but if its not here by sunday then unfortunately it will be too late and i cant pay you for it (this has cost them shipping costs remember but they dont seem to care, they are also asking for payment after i recieve the it…

Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I am a mum to 3 beautiful babies. Waheguru has done immense kirpa. Me being me and am sure as all mums do I am always worried about their wellbeing. I have always dione Ardas to Guruji to protect my babies. I am constantly worried that will my kids have a long life, I don't want them to die, will their health always remain good, will they remain safe (away from becoming victims of strangers, paedophiles grooming etc), will they stay in Sikhi when yhey are older etc etc. I utterly believe in the power of Gurbani Jaaps. I just don't know which one to recite for my desires. Yes I know I shouldn't be so …

I’m flying to Punjab tomorrow and although Birmingham airport does allow a kirpan less than 6 cm I have to stop at Ashgabat and I don’t want any problems there. A Singh told me if I’m without my kirpan I cannot eat any food, is this true and are there any other requirements?

Do names matter?
by Guest Squid- 1 reply

I think a similar thread was open in the past about this topic so please feel free to merge the two threads if needed. Ive noticed a trend in second generation punjabis naming there children non gurmant names. Names like - Ricky, Tanya, Tanisha, Rhianna, Danyal, Alisha, Eliza, Tia... these are just a few names I have heard of in my family circul alone! Some of these names sound Hindu and other muslims or English. I even have a Punjabi friend who has names his two siblings Dillon and Vikram. I understand the typical Jeet, Preet, Deep names just don't sound all that appealing anymore but is it ok to have such non sikh sounding names? we as a community have lo…

Hello,Many thanks in advance for reading this and helping. I need some advice as I don't have many people in my life who are in touch with Sikhi. I am a 27 year old and have been in a long distance relationship for almost seven years. The guy is genuine, caring and he has never had a girlfriend before. He isnt like other guys or lustful either. His intentions have always been good and we have never had any issues the last seven years like normal couples do (e.g. trust, other girls, jealousy etc) he is very down to earth and has supported me in my new jobs, at university finding books for me, when i was unwell finding me medicines etc. He has treated me like a family membe…

Is everything we go through in life result of our own actions/karma or can there be other factors involved. I have been going through tough time and wonder what have I done in my past life to deserve this.

?♀️ I need some advice please. I am getting married in May next year. We have booked the gurdwara and are now deciding on the reception. Initially I have always thought to myself I wouldn’t mind not having a reception, this is just because I don’t like too much fuss (and don’t understand why I would spend so much on feeding people I am not necessarily close with). But as the wedding talk has started, now I am getting excited and have thought actually I don’t want to miss out and regret not having a reception, instead we could have a smaller reception and invite close family and friends only. The problem is of course this is not just up to me and my fiancé, no…

ਰਹਾਉ Rahaau
by Guest Gurvir Singh- 1 reply

Why is “Rahaau” not spoken in Kirtan? Is this not the written bani? Doesn’t removing this change the shabaad? One possible explanation I can think of is that it is an instruction to ‘pause and reflect’ and if that is true then why do we recite it when we are reading bani? Please add your comment but do not disparage anyone’s opinion.
