  1. Japmans got it rite.. Yeah if one feel all exicted.. he/she would like to do something in josh.. like dancing and stuff.. and some will do keertan :D ) so it depends on what sangat you are in and what's your social surroundings are like.. GKD.. R u asking like.. "Is doing bhangra good in sikhi?" Well.. i will say we should not go into that stuff (paying $50 to get into some bhangra concert etc is stupid in my view..) Yes, as of gurbani quotes it's clear that bhangra is manmat, but is it rite or wrong to do bhangra as some of do wonder? in my personal view, i think it can be both wrong and right.. Wrong : 5 evils, take away UR concentration from sikhi, bad lyrics (Sex, women, $$ etc..) and many who do it wants to impress opposite sex "Wanna be popular trend" .. Right : On family type gathering situation.. stuff like u do once in a year or something.. then i guess it's alrite.. bhangra is just a simple workout stuff, just like jogging to me.. But getting addict to it is mad and nowdays you probably see more bhangra stuff going in our young generation rather than doing rab da naam.. (those univ. competition, east coast/west coast comp..) Bhull chakk ke maaf..
  2. lol.. hey.. What our rehat says about the minimum size of kirpan that sikhs should wear.. ? My kirpan is pretty big :D
  3. 10. There would be 10 times as many people on the ship. 9. There has to be a song with a girl wearing a white dress, singing in the rain. 8. By the end of the movie he finds his mom, dad, sister and brother. 7. It's seven and half-hours long. 6. The movie would be called "Doobta Hua Pyar". 5. Kate Winslet played by Madhuri Dixit, and Leonard Di' Caprio played by Salman Khan. 4. The boat would sink, because there are too many people on it. 3. None of the people would float for long cause of the saris. 2. They would be serving mango fruity on the boat. 1. Wait a minute it was an Indian movie if you think about it. AND Can you imagine how many times we would hear "Bachaoooo"!!! PS: The hero, heroine, his mom, dad, sister and brother will float in the cold water for days and yet survive. The villain will drown in the first drops of water

B) and the printing stuff about sikhi should be very dynamic and straight to point.. Hope waheguroo jee do kirpa

  9. Yes.. today for the first time i read the sign on my skool campus main entrance "NO FIREARMS" and i wonder does kirpan comes under that category.. And i could have asked the security gaurds around, but then again i thought they probably won't have any clue about kirpan and sikhi stuff so why bother and take panga.. But if in case they do notice the kirpan on any singh/kaur.. then at least we should have something in our pocket to show them there at the spot that we are allowed to keep em.. I think UCLA did fought for rights to wear kirpan in public school.. but don't know under what conditions.. i have to find out.. :T: But thanks ms514 :D
  10. Just to add a few bit... Amritvela makes a person sharp, disciplined and very organized.. Since this monday, im getting up from my bed, taking bath and all stuff done before 6am and doing all panj bania makes person feel like he accomplished something good.. and it has a very cool effect on me.. Im gald that im doing that.. so is my friend who started the same routine along with me I do get depressed sometime, like when im not able to do stuff on time etc.. but i guess that will end by my new routine... will seee... What kind of mental health problems that young sikhs do face today? 1) School courses / Parents hopes of seeing their children as professional.. U know what i mean.. 2) bf/gf stuff (while they are single) 3) Personal feature (Thinks of himself/herself as not beautiful with sikhi appearance, but still keep it cauz of parents and stuff) and so on... I think the above are major stuff that one can notice around in our society
  11. As being the cyber freak for more than 4 + years.. i think now it's time for young cyber sikhs (like you and me) to put all of our focus on printing sikhi materials and distributing it to all others.. B) Not just gurbani, we can include loads of other stuff.. it can be a good information package for the person who don't surf internet that much.. what ya think..?
  12. Does anyone know about the religious rights to wear kirpan in public, most likely in colleges/univ... (California state) ? 15. My Turban, My Crown By Dr Gurbaksh Singh In the mid-eighties, an international seminar was held on the Sikh faith in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The speakers were invited by the president of the gurdwara to address the Sangat briefly on Sunday. After morning Kirtan, the author and other speakers gave lectures for seven to ten minutes as planned by the management. The Sangat was emotionally charged when one of the speakers (a European-American having adopted the Sikh faith) described his experience of adopting the faith. The key part of his lecture may be summarized as below: Sikhs receive their turbans as their inheritance and get them free without paying any price for them. Some Sikhs, therefore, do not know the value of the turban; they may just throw it away without a second thought. I was in search of a turban and I found one. I picked it up, cleaned it and tied it on my head with great honor. For me it is not a mere piece of cloth which I wrap on my head to cover my hair. I respect it as a crown granted to me by my 'father', Guru Gobind Singh. I was not born to Sikh parents. Therefore, I did not receive this turban free as my heritage. I had to pay the price for it. My friends left me when they saw me with a turban on my head. I had to sacrifice my relations. Even my mother and brother deserted me because they did not accept me with my turban. Now you can understand how much I value it. A king puts a crown on his head as the insignia of being the ruler of the country. Another person with a stronger force may take over his country, and also the crown, from him. However, nobody can take away my crown from me because it was gifted to me by my fathe r, Guru Gobind Singh. The Guru paid more than the full price of this crown by sacrificing his whole family, his father, his mother and all his four children. In this way, he earned this crown for his Sikhs. Later, the Khalsa Panth had to give up their homes and live for three generations in the jungle in order to retain this gift of the Guru on their heads. Many Sikhs underwent unbearable tortures but did not barter their turban. Today, when I wrap my turban on my head, every hair on my body feels grateful to the Guru and utters, "Father, thank you. You paid the price of this holy crown by the blood of your whole family and your innumerable devotees. No king or tyrant can take it away from me. Only ignorant or ungrateful Sikhs may themselves throw it away. They forget that along with the turban they also lose their right to be respected and addressed as Sardar Ji, the son of Guru Gobind Singh." It will not be out of place, if I restate here the feelings of another Englishman, Mr. Cliff R. Huthins, who had adopted the Sikh faith. When someone asked him why he had to wear long hair to practice the Sikh philosophy of life, he answered, "Is it not enough that people call me the son of Guru Gobind Singh just because I wear the five kakaars?" The author visited India in 1997 to participate in the Gurmat Chetna Lehr inaugurated by the Jathedar of the Akal Takht for educating the Sikh youth regarding their heritage. He narrated the message of the above lecture to the Sikh youth. In every group there were some Sikh youth without turbans. After listening to this, some of them would stand up and make a promise, "From now onwards I am going to keep my hair and tie my turban to enjoy the self-esteem of being the son of Guru Gobind Singh."

The war gave us the fiery baptism of God's warm blood. We died. And that is how our master said we should live. There is no other door to everlasting life but through death, like this, through love, and obedience like this. Very little life is in the ego of man; all is there in the shining sun of his soul. He knew all about the nature of after-death; He led us on." "Our Guru in communion with the cosmic processes concentrated his consciousness on the problem of making man alive, natural and free." - Professor Puran Singh
