  2. Thank you very much. This is the kind of clarification I was after. I fully appreciate the project needs to be financially viable, and of course you need the support of the Sangat to determine what will be successful and what will not be successful. Although, when it was said that it is the Sangat's channel, it implied that it was a completely not-for-profit venture. Financial viability is of course absolutely crucial to make this a long-term success, and I fully appreciate that the sevadaars undertaking this project need to earn a living and/or want to benefit from the upside of the project's success. As naujawanidotcom rightly mentioned, we have too many radio stations in the UK who are making money from the Sangat by making daily appeals for funds, including setting a fee for doing Ardaas, etc on their shows. They always tell us their costs, but never explain or disclose their revenues. One of the Gurbani radio stations has a constant appeal for funds due to alleged projects funded in India. Who knows whether the funds reach their destination, as there is never full financial disclosure made. If these types of media make appeals for the Sangat's money, the major concern is that they are not using it to line their own pockets. THIS WAS THE CONTEXT AND REASONS FOR ME TO RAISE CONCERNS! One final Benti - going forward, if it is a private enterprise/company, then the financial affairs are between you and your investors, and you do not have to disclose anything beyond your Companies House submissions. However, if the Sangat does give donations on your request, it is an open public matter and we have every right to question you to explain your costs AND REVENUES! This distinction and the level of disclosure you want is something you should consider going forwards. Veer jee - it was never my intent to pull you down. I've repeatedly said I support The Sikh Channel project. However, the transparency of the financial affairs in relation to the seva you do is an absolute necessity. This may save you from accusations in the future, and hopefully we have clarified some issue in front of the Sangat. BTW, reason I did not discuss this directly with you, as I have on previous occasions, is so the whole Sangat can get such clarification. Best of luck Waheguroo
  3. I maintain that I support the objective of Parchaar and a Sikh Channel. I'm just asking them to call a fork a fork, and a spade a spade. Waheguroo
  4. Sorry - I'm not satisfied with your response. I'm sure others won't be either. I'm not knocking the seva - it needs to be done, BUT: On the one hand you say it is not a commercial enterprise, with the only aim of doing Parchaar. On the other hand you have investors, are not willing to declare the company as non-profit making and not willing to subject the channel to independent objective scrutiny. If it is a not-for-profit company, all it means is that all profits are re-invested in the channel. If the company has some commercial aims, it's best to be straight with the Sangat, and declare it upfront. Nothing wrong with being commercial per se, only when you say that it is the Sangat's channel, with the Sangat's money, but Sangat has no control over those who run the channel - that's disingenuous! If I was to become an investor, which presumably is what the Sangat is doing when it provides capital/donations to the channel, what say will I have on the operations of the channel? Is it like any company shareholder process? How do I become a shareholder? I don't mean to discourage you, but you should be more careful with the language you are using if you cannot actually make through sure that the relevant procedures are established to make the channel belong to the Sangat! Waheguroo
  5. What kinds of funds/donations are you wanting? If this is a Sangat project, what processes are there to ensure transparency in the funds donated? Who are the directors of "The Sikh Channel Limited"? How will the Sangat exercise control, accountability and influence on the channel? If it's a non-profit making company, can you please register it so, to ensure that there are no dividends to any individuals? It would be helpful if you could appoint independent and educated youth auditors to oversee the fundraising and expenditure. I fully support the project, but am in favour of full transparency if, as is claimed, it is the Sangat's channel. Look forward to your answers to these fundamental questions. :D Waheguroo
