Exactly my point. Some people who do not give two hoots about Sikhi and like to visit the pub were involved in the violence. They are a disgrace. So what the play has been taken off but now we have all the arty brigade bosses of theatres up and down the country offering to stage the rubbish play. The writer is being built up like a great white heavyweight hope. The only people who have come out of this badly are the Sikhs. The media has branded us as thugs etc. I for one hope the Sikhs of Birmingham and elsewhere become more active in politics. That is the only way to beat the buggers at their own game. I know when the protests started and I know they were hijacked on Saturday. Dr Rai speaking on Newsnight (Monday) claimed that the trouble makers were mainly people who had been to pubs etc and were intent on violence. I dont think Guru Gobind Singh ji said we should go to pubs t o build up courage. The sword should be raised to protect not to lash out and terrrify innocent people. There were families with small children inside the theatre. The stupid act of breaking a window has resulted in a media frenzy against Sikhs and a public backlash against Sikhs.

Well is he lying ? I think not. The peaceful protests were hijacked by a few who have now tarnished the image of Sikhs as trouble makers. The federation themselves have said they will take action against members who were involved in the action.

There is a element in the police who are racist. In my dealings with police I have seen how ignorant etc they really are. Best way to deal with this is to start getting a foothold on various QUANGOS, committees etc. Please do not think sit back. Join political parties en masse so like the Muslims have done in Birmingham. Where is the recognition for Sikhs in that ? I doubt the play write is nothing more than a pseudo Sikh who professes to be of the Sikh faith just to justify the fatuous production. Take the play off unless she gets rid of any situational moments in the Gurdwara. Then by all means she can put her play back on. Not that it will do any good because the critics panned it left right and centre last week as being rubbish.

One of the reasons for pulling the play was that by its use of a Gurdwara it was degrading and insulting to Sikhs. Should the issue of Punjabi singers wearing big Khanda medallions around their necks whilst dancing with half naked girls also be addressed ? Newsnight covered the story as the main lead. Paxman was as usual great at tackling both sides with tough questions. Just a shame that we cannot put a good speaker comfortable with answering questions to put our side on television. Dr Rai was the invited guest and although he put across many good points his delivery was very poor imho.
