  1. There is nothing wrong in belonging to a Jatha or going to a certain Jatha's kirtans. Jathas have been around since Guru Sahib's times so this is nothing new. The way I see it is that if going to a certain Jatha or being part of a certain Jatha gets you closer to Guru Sahib then that is great. Do whatever it takes to get closer to Guru Sahib. As far as having different maryadas is concerned I think that the reason they exist is because for whatever reason not everyone agrees with the SPGC version. I do give the Akhal Thakat full respect for also allowing other Panthic Marayadas for being equal to the SPGC version. Be it Taksaali, AKJ, or whatever these and other Maryadas are accepted as being equal to the SPGC one. So I think when some people say that the SPGC version is the only true Maryada and everyone else is wrong, that is not a fair assessment. I would say that any Marayada accepted by the the Akal Takhat be it Taksaali or AKJ or whatever it should be honored. If you don't agree with these other valid maryadas then that is your issue. If you don't agree with certain Jathas then that is fine, not everyone agrees with them, but that doesn't mean that the concept of Jathas is bad.
  2. I can't believe you wrote that. Do Ardaas for some more respect for the Guru Sahibaan. They were not 'men' that came here to teach, they were messengers of God. Not mortals like you and me. Learn to show respect. You think you are of high intellect. But remember, the path to God is through the heart, not the mind. I don't wanna keep posting on this thread because what you and Randip write and what I keep posting is repetitive.
  3. Thanks Randip for your post, but again like it's been said it makes no difference, I keep posting stuff to prove you wrong and you and max can do they same. It is pointless. If have made up your mind then there is no need to post Gurbani or any other Sikhism links to match your thinking. If you're gonna eat it because YOU think that it is right, then fine, but don't use Gurbani or what you think Guru Sahib thinks as a form of support because it doesn't work. Enjoy the filth. :TH:
  4. Thanks, remember, ego is a sin. Then why come on this board? If you have already made up your mind, then what is the need of Guru Sahib? You have no reason to post on this board. If you are gonna do what you feel right, then that is not Sikhism but manmat. The point of this board is to learn Gurmat, not what max thinks is right. Wake up Neo. You're in the Matrix. :|
  5. I admit I am an <banned word filter activated> with no knowledge about anything. I never claimed to be a scholar on this topic. You are however superior with your intellect. Sikhism is about living and breathing Gurbani, not just have discussions about it. All the meat eaters on the board please do me a favor and if youre gonna eat the filth, eat it, but don't use Sikhism as the reason for eating it. If you just stated that you feel that morally it is ok to it and you see no problem with it then that is fine BUT don't say you eat it because Sikhi says it's ok. And SHOW RESPECT TO GURU SAHIB!!! It's not "Nanak", how disgracefull!!
  6. For meat eaters there will never be enough proof to NOT eat meat. They will continue to justify meat eating using any means necessary, including discouraging the discussion of meat eating with Gurbani. But one thing I will ask the meat eaters to think about, could you see Guru Gobind Singh Ji holding a drumstick and having steaks with the Khalsa fauj AND could you ever go to a Gurdwara Sahib and make burgers for the sangat? NO you could not. And I don't buy the BS of "the only reason they make veg food in Gurdwaras is so that everyone can share the food even the meat eaters." The reason there is no meat in Gurdwaras is because the rule is that whereever there is Parkash of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jeeo no meat/eggs/liqour are allowed in that building. And if we are trying to get Guru Sahibs message of Naam Simran and Gurbani into us, how can meat and nasty things such as these reside there aswell? Doesn't make any sense. Also if you are eating something outside and a pig were to walk by and spit in your food you would not eat it because the animal is dirty, but it is ok to eat the dead carcaas of the pig? Some things to think about.....

  8. This is what I take: link There are no animal products used such as Gelatin used in this vitamin.
  9. This looks to have become a discussion about the what the "scholars" and the Saintly people are saying on the topic. Those who support the "scholars" say that these things don't exist, that we have to think a certain a way in order to be a Sikh. These "scholars" are the same people who say meat eating is ok, doing Naam Japna is not necessary and so on. Then you have the Holy people who say that Ghosts do exist, they have seen them and have written about them. These people also show you have to live a GurSikhi lifestyle because they have lived it, they aren't simply writing about it. The problem with "scholars" is that they have done all the research to prove points in Sikhism BUT they have not LIVED Sikhism. Researching and writing about a topic is different than actually implementing it and living it. You can write all the books/articles you like about a topic but to actually make sense of it you have to LIVE it. So anything that a "Sikh scholar" has written I never buy. Remember, the path to God is through the heart, not the mind.

  13. There has been a change in the morning program. Aasa Ki Vaar will begin at 3:30am instead of 6am each day. It will go from 3:30am to 9am. Nitnem and Simran will be from 12am to 3:30am.
  14. Kuthha and Sikhism The controversy in the Khalsa Panth over being a vegetarian or non-vegetarian arose due to the difference in the interpretation of the word Kuthha - one of the four primary taboos or Cardinal Sins for the Sikhs. Before going into the depth of what "Kuthha' really means, it is imperative to consider the real importance of these taboos in Sikhism. It is an undisputed fact that any Sikh who commits any one of these four taboos becomes an apostate. That means he is no longer a Sikh, i.e., he is automatically de-linked and ex-communicated from the Khalsa Brotherhood, even though he may be considered a Sikh by society. As a natural corollary, he loses the Grace of the Satguru without which no progress can be made in achieving the Bliss of Naam-Simran. The four great taboos prescribed for the Sikhs are, thus, of fundamental importance. Being of such fundamental importance, the four taboos cannot, obviously, be based upon any temporary contingency of the prevailing circumstances. They must have their own solid basis and foundation, and must be conducive to spiritual upliftment through Naam-Simran, which occupies the pivotal position in the whole edifice of Sikhism. Otherwise, they will lose their applicability in the changed circumstances, especially when their role in the spiritual progress is doubtful or even negative. It is explicit in Gurbani that the principles of Gurmat are unchangeable and of permanent standing: "Gurmatat Mat Achal Hai Chalaey Na Sakey Koey" (pg. 548) [The Instruction of the Guru is Unshakable. None can change it.] Obviously, therefore, these four basic taboos formulated by the Tenth Guru must have their own solid base which would stand the stress of all times. The word Kuthha is generally (or erronously) taken to mean HaIaaI meat i.e. "Meat obtained by the Muslim method of slaying the animal, slowly severing the main blood artery of the throat of the animal, while reciting religious formulae, the main object of slaughtering in this manner being a sacrifice to God to expiate the sins of the slaughterer and its flesh as food being only a secondary object..." The Jhatka method has been described as killing the animal with one stroke of the weapon without exciting fear glands secreting poisons into its bloodstream and without causing harniftil psychic waves to emanate from the animal's mind." The origin and basis of Halaal method of slaying animals by Muslims may have been sacrificial. However, by the time of the Sikh Gurus, it had just become a "Muslim method" without any consideration of its sacrificial origin. In fact, a separate class of professionals, called butchers, had emerged with the sole purpose of slaying the animals in this way. Thus, through the employment of butchers, the original idea of slaughtering the animal as a "sacrifice to God to expiate the sins of the slaughterer" had ceased to exist. The original practice had become professionalized and commercialized and remains so even now. So, according to the generally prevailing idea as advocated by many Sikh scholars, the main reason for imposing this taboo of not eating Halaal meat is not that it is sacrificial or even religious. Rather this taboo had been imposed primarily to liberate the Sikhs from mental slavery of the then rulers of the Muslim faith who had banned by law the slaying of animals by any method other than Halaal. If this interpretation is accepted, then the following points arise: For the rest of this article please visit this link: http://panthkhalsa.org/rahit/rahit_kuthha.php

  16. Q: Is there any differences from the feel and users from the early days? This forum now feels like more of a community then it did earilier. Back then if anyone had a different opinion, or if they had anything that others didn't like there were automatically attacked. I remember my screen name being a issue for some. But over time the sangat became unified and cared less about the small things. Q: Why did you sign up with the forums? I felt that in the earlier discussions, not really now, there were some viewpoints that were not pointed out and I felt it was important to add to the discussions. Q: What would you like to see be improved? I think the forum is perfect the way it is. Q: What is your message to the younger members (age) of the forums? Try to be more religious by learning from others on this forum and others. That is the whole purpose of the forum. Learn to be proper in Rehit and stay in chardee kala. The reason that this <banned word filter activated> comes on the forum is to learn about Sikhi from the GurSikhs on this forum.
