I got an email few days back that DiscoverISkhi forums were back online... I tried visiting the website but wasn't able to it just kept on loading and loading an dloading but i have tried at different times and was wondering if they are in fact online or is there something wrong my computer? From my understanding, I think uni's are cheap compared to US/Can but apts can be mucho dinero but then again that would depend on the neighborhood/locale... My bf went to UK for LLM and he was able to find a nice share for about 500$/month though he did have to commute for about an hour... so you should look around... as the uni where you plan to study... Hopefully someone from UK will answer your ques here

Without order and discipline you can't have an army... Even guruji's army had order and discipline and followed and obeyed whatever came from up... Personally i believe that every sikh is a soldier, a good sikh stands up for those oppressed... you mention those wars were wrong... many of those not deployed say that... as someone who was... Having served in socom and having in touch with one on one basis with locals in both countires i realized how greatful the locals were for us being there... now their current govt is another story... When you see ppl run upto you and thank you and elders tell you that how they can move about freely, and how girls can go to school without fear, and how they can go to college without getting acid attacked or shot in head point blank... Evenmore i ran into a group of sikhs in kandhar and was greatful to help them move to pakistan from treachery on hands of taliban... It is how you see it... those who saw it firsthand think differently... some words said go through your heart nd words like those were said to me when i was deployed... things i saw, i wish i could go back again with a might to liberate those who i was not able to help... I will end this arguement with "Manas Ki Jaat Sabhai Akai Pehchanbau" and a war began with unjust views fought for just... in my eyes is a just war! Well said After serving Active duty in both wars and having army pay for harvard tution and much more... only good things came out for me... I always recommend it to those capable, instead of being a burden in US on ed.gov, how about we capable hand earn it... Correct me if am wrong but personally i think Sikhs should check "Block 16 C - Indian" and if you really want to be specific "Block 16 C - Other, Sikh/or/Punjabi", as the Census data is used to allocate and determine grants and programs for the public and us alienating ourselves from rest of the Indians will be doing a disservice to our community and retroactively other Indians, as honestly we won't be able to muster enough responders as Sikhs to qualify for grants/programs for our public and or non-profits. CORRECTION: We don't live in pure democracy, there hasn't been one in existence ever... A majority rule or direct democracy will give birth to what in politics is known as "Tyranny of Majority" thus all governments recognize this thus the bicameral system of representative government we see around the developed world.. If one change that is long overdue in general old English common law countries is the system of "Checks and Balances" Jews in US recognized this thus becoming more active in politics... Sikhs need more public policy and political scholars and activists not fundamentalists or doctors or engineers for that matter...

Having spoken to visiting Professor to GNDU from Kentucky Uni, the above stated (topic starters) findings are in fact true. There is no need to bash any government or entity, it is in it's simplicity nature taking its toll. The solution suggested by the professor was to set up US like water treatment plant and have water pipeline for drinking water at minimum to all effected residents. It is up to to the constituency to set the agenda so the state and national government can go about the policy process for implementation, but then again we all know how people in India waste away water and with home water delivery will come a water bill, which i doubt anyone is willing to pay. Solution:- Set Agenda and implement the plan to provide clean water to those who are affected in such manner that everyone regardless of income can afford the basic necessity for life... As per Bathinda having the most gun licensed people in Punjab... total BS, i did a study on Indian Arms Act of 1962 a while back and the highest gun licensed/ownership (ownership doesn't mean license) area is Dist Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Fazilka due to it's closeness to Indo-Pak border and has been the case since 1971.

Growing up, life was all fun and i don't remember much, except when i was sent to India at the age of 5 to live with my great-grandmother who was reluctant to leave our "Haweli" in the pind and only came to states during like special occasions with her and Great-Grandpa (ie weddings etc) ... The reason for this post is because years have passed since these days and over-time i forgot the songs my great-grandma used to sing and so devotedly made sure i remember them... I was in Afghan the past year and i remember we were in remote area towards Pak border and came upon a mini group of Sikh afghani's who we initially though were muslim's as they dressed and talked and everything as such... Then i heard one of them say something and i couldn't believe but it was punjabi... I told me team to stand by and let me talk to the elder of the group... I talked with him and as surprised as i was he was too... I told my team that the group of houses is clear and that they are friendly, but one my Sgt questioned me so i told him and his response, was that with all due respect sir, Sikhs been known to hijack, blow up people, kill them just like everyone else... I didn't have an answer for him so i gave go ahead for search of the ppl and their mud huts... Now, tell me who gave the chance that a Sgt could say something like that, our ppl did such things so the Sgt said, i could've said no sgt and that we're not going to search these ppl, but that would ve meant me getting personal... but luckily the poor ppl didnt have no weapons, instead asked us if we could bring them clean water, blankets, look after an elderly woman (104yrs old) who had slipped about a month ago and prob broke her hip... I had one of our LTs look at her, take her to FOB for x-ray and treatment, and i talked with her and that talk which lasted about an hour changed my entire view on Sikhi... Let all wisdom be burnt away, except for the essence of spiritual wisdom. ||4||" So, when you break it down in simple lingo, In this case third guru is telling us that a brahmans believe or are superstitious and say that if brhamin kills a cow or infant etc is cursed, brahmins believe this to be a wisdom something they know will hapen, HOWEVER, guru ji's saying, that the one who forgets NAAM will suffer or be cursed, and that let us forget the wisdom (in this case what will happen if i killed a cow), and just focus on the wisom of waheguru's naam.

I remember during med school, my friends and i and our professor were having discussion over where would we go to volunteer and stuff and i remember my best friend Craig was like, "No offense, Dean but i think i will go anywhere but India." I was like wow whats wrong with India, he was like people in India starve to death, because they are dumb.
