  1. How will the answer to this rather silly question, help you grow spiritually?
  2. Nothing BROKE! Amrit cannot be broken like this Bibi. It is very strong. Whatever happened to you happened by an accident. Maharaj Ji knows the condition of each and every heart. Go and pray for forgiveness in front of Sahib Shree Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. He likes innocence. And you definitely are innocent for thinking Amrit can be broken. I'm sure he's already forgiven you. You have a Guru now. He's there to help you. You'll make silly mistakes. But he'll always help you out of the mess. He'll never leave you though. Don't worry too much...Okay?
  3. It is the order of Guru Gobind Singh ji to all Sikhs to take amrit. Guru Gobind Singh ji will not leave your arm if you can not complete five banis in a day. Understood, it is a committment, but a teacher helps their student when the student is not completing work. Some teachers may throw the student out, but my Guru Gobind certainly is not that kind, He is the most merciful, the most kind, he will put you on track. Once He has held your arm, you can leave him, but he will not leave you. Submit your head to Guru Gobind, and leave it to Him, "Prabh dori hath tumhare", "O Lord the reins are in your hands". Try your best to be committed. Let Guru take care of the rest. So, forget what your classmates say, listen to your teacher, the beautiful Master, Guru Gobind Singh. Take amrit now. Beautiful...
  4. You are right you shouldn't be telling other people about these experiences. Keep on meditating. He, himself, will direct you the way or give you the 'input' that you 'need'. As for your fear... kaho naanak tih bhajan tay nirbhai pad paavai. Says Nanak, by meditating and vibrating upon Him, you shall obtain the state of fearlessness.
  5. ਸੂਰਜ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ਹੂਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ sooraj kiran milae jal kaa jal hooaa raam || The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water. ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ jothee joth ralee sanpooran thheeaa raam || One's light blends with the Light, and one becomes totally perfect. ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥ breham dheesai breham suneeai eaek eaek vakhaaneeai || I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God. ਆਤਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥ aatham pasaaraa karanehaaraa prabh binaa nehee jaaneeai || The soul is the Creator of the expanse of creation. 6. I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God. barahm deesai barahm sunee-ai ayk ayk vakhaanee-ai. Above Barahm means God. Barahm means the 'entire boundless creation'. That means it's all an illusion. The divine himself is it. We are inside of him and outside of him at the same time. The word universe and all those other fancy words are there to keep the maya rolling. This is amazing. We do all the deeds thinking no one is watching and wow...He's been looking at us so closely. Where can you go? He's present...he's there. He is it. Scary. Yet comforting.
  7. Okay...So I suppose there are no more answers related to this. Thanks for all the help. Very much appreciated. =)
  8. ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਿਲ ਸਵਾਿਰਆ ਿਪਆਰੇ ਿਤਨ ਕਾ ਰਿਹਆ ਮੂਲੁ ॥੪॥ jo gur mayl savaari-aa pi-aaray tin kaa rahi-aa mool. ||4|| Those who meet the Guru, and reform themselves, O Beloved, their capital remains intact. ||4|| What does 'capital' here means? Mool is the word that is referred to as Captial. True? The word Mool here means 'roots'. Those whom the Guru enlightens, their roots forever remain intact. Meaning: No one can harm them or their family(roots). So their future generations also prosper, i.e. their roots remain intact. That being said. The word mool also means 'chief'. The souls that are enlightened by their Guru are also heard in the Dargah. Their 'voices' remain chief amongst the others present there. They are heard and heeded to in his Dargah. And no one overrules their suggestions because God has approved of these souls. ਜੋ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਗੋਿਬੰਦ ਤੇ ਿਪਆਰੇ ਿਤਨ ਕੁਿਲ ਲਾਗੈ ਗਾਿਲ ॥ jo baymukh gobind tay pi-aaray tin kul laagai gaal. Those who turn their backs on the Lord of the Universe, O Beloved, their families are stained with disgrace. Why does the family pay for one individual who forgets Naam? Not necessarily true. All these translations are only 'an individual's' point of view. Gurbani is much deeper than these translations. 'Jo' means the person who turns its back on the Lord, it's not saying the 'family' which turns its back on the Lord. It's never about the family. It's about you and him. But yes, if you love God then your family will, depending on their previous deeds, will either slowly or spontaneously adapt your lifestyle, i.e. they will also start going to the Gurudwara, and start reciting Gurbani...etc. But if they are already on his path and you were led astray, then you will be affected by your family's devotion and will also start reciting Naam. So Maharaj Ji is saying that an individual who turns its back on God, his family, if not spiritual, will also suffer along him/her. This 'Jo' has the power to reform his/her whole family if it is not already walking his path. They will starting doing so if this 'Jo' helps them. And if this 'Jo' is walking the wrong direction then the spiritual souls from his family have the power to reform him/her. Should the whole family be religious, and one is not, does the whole family stained? I hope the above was sufficient enough and has answered this question too.
  9. 'Discussions' will be many. 'Perpectives' will be many. As long as our 'mind' has the control over our souls then 'questions' will also be many. Peace, therefore, will be hard to attain. Meditation can help you get rid of these questions. Just let things be. And you too, just BE... May Peace find its way to you...If you'll let it. Allow it.
  10. Or it could've been a Human Bean.
  11. Sweet question. I was reading a Zen Story. Your post reminded me of it. Here...you read it too, if you want: A Mother's Advice Jiun, a Shogun master, was a well-known Sanskrit scholar of the Tokugawa era. When he was young he used to deliver lectures to his brother students. His mother heard about this and wrote him a letter.: "Son, I do not think you became a devotee of the Buddha because you desired to turn into a walking dictionary for others. There is no end to information and commentation, glory and honor. I wish you would stop this lecture business. Shut yourself up in a little temple in a remote part of the mountain. Devote your time to meditation and in this way attain true realization."
  12. Ji, accuracy is maintained by Maharaj Ji. I only attempted to answer a few questions.
  13. 1. What do Sikhs believe in? Ik Ongangkar Ik means ONE. Ongangkar means God's Creation which is beyond counting and that is why the 'Urah' is left open. So only ONE thing exists. God 'in' his creation. God is everything. 2. What do Sikh people believe about death? Souls never die. They are like energy which cannot be destroyed or created. It is our body that experiences death. 3. Why is it important that you don't/aren't allowed to cut your hair? Hair are a living entity. They are alive. Well, if you pull out a hair. It will hurt you. You will feel pain. So if hair were dead you wouldn't feel this pain because dead things don't feel pain. Since hair are alive, they do feel pain. Thats why we shouldn't cut them. We shouldn't 'murder' them. Baba Attar Singh Ji once said, "a person who cuts its hair, is actually pricking Maharaj Ji or their SATGURU with needles". 4. What do you do as part of your religion? Ji, Sikhism is not a religion. It is a way of life. A way of life. To be a Sikh means to be a discipline. How can being a discipline be a religion? 5. Why do Sikh men have long hair? They have long hair because they respect God's 'Hukam' or command. If God has given them long hair that means God must love long hair. So instead of playing around with his creation. Sikhs accept his command and maintain their bodies as God has created them. 6. Do you believe in life after death? Sikhs believe to be dead while they are living. That means to have their soul take control over their bodies instead of the mind. Soul is the 'jyot' or a light of GOD. It is God itself. The mind is the 'evil' that likes to wonder around and be involved in the worldly life. To be dead while living means to not practice worldly life. Means to recite his Naam and merge into him while you are alive. Further, when our soul leaves our body, it is either received by Angels (devtas) or Death Demons (Jam Doots). Angels come to receive the soul if it has committed good deeds by not listening to the mind and have recited God's Naam while it was in its Human Body. Demons come to receive the soul if it has committed the worst things imagined, i.e. never remembered God, ruined its beauty by doing drugs or drinking alcohol, or if the soul listened to the mind and committed bad to others.
  14. Yes, you are right. Science is discovering the 'facts' which our Shabad Guru has already has told us and keeps on telling us, in the hope that maybe one day we will actually heed what he says and merge with the 'Source'. We should be thankful to have such a 'Guru'. We are so blessed to have him.
  15. "Universe is a collection of infinite galaxies which contain solar systems and plants. A possible chance of having multiple universes, according to the theory of relativity and spacetime." First of all, thank you If you don't mind, can you explain this theory of relativity and spacetime? What do you think the reason might be?
  16. There are nether worlds beneath nether worlds, and hundreds of thousands of heavenly worlds above. paataalaa paataal lakh aagaasaa aagaas. I've searched for the word "Paataal" and various different translations give various different definitions for it. Can you clarify what it actually means? Thank you. =) Sach khand vasai nirongkar kar kar vaikhai nadar nihal. tithai khund mandal varbhand jai ko kathai, tai ant na ant. tithai, loh loh aakar jiv jiv hukam tivai tiv kar. vaikhai vigsai, kar vichar nanak, kathna karha sar. (37) In the Domain of Truth (oneness with the Lord), the Lord becomes manifest in the devotee. The Lord watches His Creation with Merciful glances of Grace. In this realm, the devotee witnesses countless universes, worlds, and spheres. There are universes upon universes. The creatures act, as He directs them. The Lord beholds His creation and is pleased in contemplating about them. Nanak says: it is too hard, as steel, to describe. (37) Which word refers to Universe above? Is it Mandal or Varbhand?
  17. Can someone explain the concept of a 'Universe' to me... And do you think that there are other 'Universes' that exist? Thank you, in advance, for all your help.
  18. Thank you. According to Guruka Singh, Naam is a vibration or 'a state of being'. Since everything is a 'vibration' that means everything is NAAM. Sweet.

Hanji, true. We are prefectly 'created'. They don't really grow on forever but, incase, they do, then you probably might have a hormone imbalance. See a doctor. He may suggest some remedy...a medicine, perhaps. Homeopath is the best with these types of problems. The sugary pills are yummy. Or you can thank God for the beautiful gift of LONG hair and tie a dastaar. The nails that we 'trim' are dead. Thats why when we 'trim' them it doesn't hurt us because they are well... 'dead' and dead things can't feel anything. If they did feel pain or pleasure...then you by now would've witnessed dead people running around while they were being cremented. It's good to get rid of dead things... ie, nails that require clipping. You cannot kill 'dead' things. Errr... because they are already dead. Suppose you cut the 'alive' nail which is still pretty much embedded on your finger's skin...You are smart. That means you understand what I'm saying. Alright, so back to what we were saying, suppose you cut that 'alive' nail geeeee...It will hurt! Now you are sinning. You were playing with your 'natural self'. And playing with your 'natural self' can only cause you grief...ie, in this case, a bleeding nail. Similarly, there are 'dead' hair too. And thats why we comb our hair, to take these dead hair out. Combing hair twice a day, keeps one peaceful. Try it. You'll like it! We love you too!
  20. What is NAAM? Thank you, in advance, for the help.
  21. The Yogis used to drink a special wine('madh'ira...kept them in a 'madh' state. An in-between state) to stay intoxicated, it helped them meditate for longer periods of time and more 'efficiently'. When Guru Nanak Sahib visited these Yogis, they offered him some of this special wine. Instead of accepting their offer, Maharaj Ji said to them, "Yogi Ji, drinking the nectar of his Naam, we 'always' stay intoxicated. We don't need this worldly intoxication to help us remember him. Our wine is his Naam." So Bharthari Yogi, a Raja who later became a prominent Yogi because he was unable to bear the grief of his wife's death, asked Guru Nanak Sahib to tell the Yogis the prodecure of making this unique 'Wine of Naam'. And so Maharaj Ji, recited the following: Awsw mhlw 1 ] aasaa mehalaa 1 || Aasaa, First Mehla: guVu kir igAwnu iDAwnu kir DwvY kir krxI ksu pweIAY ] gurr kar giaan dhhiaan kar dhhaavai kar karanee kas paaeeai || Make spiritual wisdom your molasses, and meditation your scented flowers; let good deeds be the herbs.
