i'm not saying we should shy away from saying caste is bad, voicing opposition to casteism or changing the minds of the youth. but the blame game always encourages and reinforces the stupid beliefs of some people. like you said, when you were at uni you thought casteism would die out and you were lulled into a false sense of security, so it ended up becoming worse. now if we get these peoples backs up (who still believe in caste) they will only move to embed caste in their kids and others even more. i know blaming is a knee <banned word filter activated> reaction, but it will only give these id1ots more ammunition for the argument that 'we are different and better, that is why they complain as they are jealous'. i have some of these caste loving sikhs in my family and blaming them or just saying its wrong doesnt change them. we'd be better off thinking of more intelligent answers like encouraging any youngsters in your family to see other sikhs as sikhs rather than jatt/ramgarhia/etc.

well if persuasion doesnt work, these people can be replaced. gurudwaras change hands. the old get older and a new generation replaces them (who hopefully were raised better and not influenced by their parents - which is unlikely). heavier action may be needed. but i doubt that the lawmakers over there have real social equality as an ideal to strive for. with khalistan we could hand out prison sentences for caste-discrimination. that would stop the ones who think caste is so important. i'm sure those who have suffered caste discrimination could come up with even more relevant counter measures.

but my point is that blaming doesnt change anyone. either sideline their actions by reducing the power and influence they have and replace it with fairer practices/people, or engage with them and convince them that what they are doing is wrong and they would be better off doing the right thing. blaming them wont work apart from give them little incentive to change what they grew up with. lets be reasonable with real world solutions rather than fighting over the moral high ground.

we need to fight the pakis, but not on behalf of the anglos. we need to protect our community, our religion and our heritage. i dont know about you, but that does not include licking up to whites or running around with halfbrains. seriously, you think the whites will deal with islam if it becomes a more potent threat? no! they will just deport the lot of us. and we'll start fighting the musis from square one in some other country (well those of us who arent killed by the goreh first anyway).

do musis put guns to sikh girls heads when they convert? making people do things does not involve guns, knives and force. i'm also not saying that there are a bunch of brahmins behind the scenes, plotting the caste problems in punjab. but those in power over there dont want to see the status quo upset. its not about blame. but this isnt a one-dimensional problem, with a single cause and a single solution. forcing one bunch of people to shoulder all the blame will only alienate them and entrench any stupid beliefs they have.
