when you mean poetry do you mean those stupid nursery rhymes that Gurdwara stage speakers come up with when talking bout histroy, that carry no fact no stats no realisim. when i say poetry,why did you have to come up with the worst example of it you could think of? when i said 'art' did you think i meant 'porn'? of course not. so stop being silly. do funny songs in the west constitute culture? - of course not. nowadays people use the word 'culture' to describe what a generation is up to and what they like. but its real meaning is the expression of intellectual thought and life experience by artists in poetry, paintings, architecture etc. for example, gurudwaras in punjab are an example of punjabi culture (architecture). not what some speaker in england makes up on stage to try and get the kids to remember what their on about. btw, we need some proper punjabi culture in the design of our gurudwaras here. some of them look like a mish-mash of a mosque and a church.

what is punjabi culture? is it songs, art, poetry and geography or drinking, drugs and dancing like an <banned word filter activated>? because the last 3 are not just confined to punjabis. but the songs, poems, literature and landscapes will be forever part of true punjabi culture and will always have a place in a true sikh's heart. lets not forget where we come from by mixing it up with the stupid actions of some 'punjabis' nowadays.

bloody hell, her attitude is so typical of girls of all religions nowadays. girls like that come from religous families but get bored and start doing all this stuff as teenagers up until they leave uni. after they leave uni after getting up to god knows what, they're a bit older, not as good looking and have to face the problems of being truly independent. at this point they come back into their religion and act as if they didnt know what they were doing and that everyone should forget what they got up to. they become quasi-religious and look down on those who arent as superficial about religion as they are or those who dont praise them for their 'piety'. then they demand their parents (who either had the wool pulled over their eyes or just brush what happened under the carpet) get them hitched to some naive sod who is rich (usually dentists/accountants or sometimes doctors). that poor guy ends up in a marriage to someone he thinks is really great because of what his parents were told by his prospective in-laws who are a 'good family', as they say. after getting hitched he realises what a two-faced, deceitful, 'narinder kaur'-esque nutcase she is. oh well, thats just my two pence from what i've seen happen to people 5-10 years older than me.

well i was arguing with some hindustanis on a hindu forum once, and they said that sikhs removed idols that had been in gurudwaras after partition and during singh sabha. i thought it was BS, but then i asked my friends dad who knows a lot of sikh history, and he said yes there were idols, but that they werent there in our guru's time, but were installed by maharaja ranjit singh's time to appease the hindus. some people say that actually it was hindus mahants who did it under the british noses at the turn of the century, but i'll ask him if he got it from a book or why he thought it was maharaja ranjit singh.
