veerji, what i can say is that if you have the interest in keertan you will do great! I started when i was like 5 (Guru's kirpa my mom does kirtan).like you said about your voice, i personally had the same problem. But the more you sing, the better it gets.you soon come to sing in both high and low pitches. (never get discpuraged by anyone who says you dont sound good) All you are doing is praising Waheguru and the josh that comes in when you are singing is like WOW. I now help teach keertan at my local Gurudwara we use sargams. using this method, you cant really forget the raags and as your experience increases,you get it all naturally. voice tips(works for me)-- I listen to keertan, try to sing with them and get the tune in my head... go to the baja, play it and then sing as loud as i can. hope this helps.... hehe, remember to drink lots of water before (luke warm water is good for your throat). Good one! :wub: I can surely help with this coz i help children learn Baja and Taals at the music school in the Gurudwara I go to.but do i have to use this key? Coz the sargams we use are the sa rega ma with komals and Teebers. For example if there is a diff key like there isnt any "re" there, what can i use? can u plz expand the keys or do i have to put up shabads that are within it? Sorry im a little confused with how to start. :T: Pul chuk maff please

I went to the India Nanaksar Gurudwara in Punjab about 3 yrs ago and it is a little different from the one here in Edmonton and also the Richmond one esp the langar, there you sit down and no shoes whatsoever. I also got the chance to see the Sant ji who is currently doing the seva of DHun Dhun SGGS Ji. He considers himself a sevak and nothing more. As we sat there listenin to him tell us to do paath and simran, a bibi came and bowed her head infront of him, he told her never to do it again but only bow her head before SGGS ji. And in the Gurudwara, the Baba Nand Singh Ji's pics are there but they really do alot of seva. The shoe thing here is a little wierd here but Nanaksar Gurudwaras are great too! BHUL CHUKH MAPH

I have a question regarding paath too: Can we do Keertan Sohela after 12:00am?Coz I remember a viakhaya where the Gianiji said that after 12:00am you can only start the morning paath. Do the timings matter? I sometimes do my H/W until after 12. And Sohela time is too late.Please help. :lol: and ya this forum is great! I just joined. Guru rakha!
