  1. Marijuana/ Bhang The Takhat Sahibs that follow the Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sri Akaal Takht Sahib, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib) do not condone Marijuana. The Panthic Sikh Rehit Maryada prohibits BHANG and anyone who consumes Marijuana is a Thankhaiya according to Sikh Rehit Maryada as well as Gurbani. Consuming meat - Yes, you will not be "prohibited" from eating meat. The only clear instruction given is "do not consume halaal". Depending on who is doing sevaa in the Panj Pyaare, the Jathedaar may discourage Sangat to eat meat but due to restraints by the SGPC they don't say a clear cut no to meat. Some family members have taken Amrit at Kesgarh Sahib and at that time the Singhs doing seva told them that "Sikhs are not vegetarian. Do not think you have to eat Masraa di Daal after taking Amrit." On the other hand, another Singh took Amrit at the same Takht Sahib in 2006 and was told "Halaal is Bajjar Kurehat. However, eating meat is wrong and Sangat should refrain from eating any meat." The differing views on meat depend on the Singhs doing seva, however at the end of the day they all restricted in what they can say because of the SGPC's guidelines. The Bajjar Kurehat is "EATING KUTTHAA". All Gursikhs, Samapardas, and Jathas agree on this. However, the difference is in the interpretation of "KUTTHAA". Where the SGPC interprets it as "slowly slaughtered meat", others (based on Gurbani) interpret it as "slaughtered meat, i.e. any type of meat". Bhul Chuk Maaf.
  2. A few examples of Power of Ardaas in addition to the link to story given by Kammy Kaur Bhenji: Power of Five http://manvirsingh.blogspot.com/2007/10/power-of-five.html Sikh Identity & Power of Ardaas http://manvirsingh.blogspot.com/2008/07/sikh-identity-power-of-ardaas.html British Soldier Meets Guru Gobind Singh Ji http://manvirsingh.blogspot.com/2007/03/british-soldier-meets-guru-gobind-singh.html When I first Started University http://manvirsingh.blogspot.com/2006/09/when-i-first-started-uni-part-2.html In short Guru Ji says: Key word is "JAN" which means SLAVE OF SLAVE. When we become the slave of slaves of Guru Nanak Dev Ji then our Ardaas does not go in vain. So when we do Ardaas we have to do it with the bhaavnaa (intention) of a slave - i.e. you are nothing to lose. You get what you prayed for and you then thank Waheguru but if you don't get what you prayed for then you still thank Waheguru. The servant always stays loyal to the Master. Sometime people pray but when they prayer is not fulfilled then they don't come back to the Gurdwara or don't pick up a Gutka Sahib until the next time they want something. End of the day Waheguru knows the best for us! Sometimes we pray for something and then we realise that even through pain and sorrow we get happiness. That's life! Its a the khed (game) of Waheguru. 6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Saadh Sangat Ji, I am sure sure everyone is very distressed at the news of what is happening in India. Benti to everyone, is to contact the news agencies in your country. So for example in the UK - BBC News, ITV News, Channel 4 News, Five News etc. Email these news agencies that you wish them to cover the police brutality and mistreatment of Sikh protesters in India and that you are concerned by the bias media coverage at the moment in India. If anyone has any videos, photographs or an eye-witness account (if you are in India) then email them this! I don't think they would use photographs from forums (I am guessing) so instead if you have links of photographs to news articles or if you have personal photographs then please send to them! If you live in UK, then please use the links below to highlight you wish them include this news in the News coverage: BBC News: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/2804227.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/y...ews/6719867.stm ITV News: Email - itvplanning@itn.co.uk Channel 4 News: Email - news@channel4.com Channel 5 News: http://www.fivetvonline.tv/send-a-story.php This is an idea of what you can send (but please try and write something yourself otherwise it has less impact): Bhul Chuk Maaf
  7. Waheguru. I just read the news! It is very sad What is happening? Firstly, let's look at the man who was attacked. 1. It was irresponsible of the Rozana Spokesman and the Author to use the headline "Guru Panth nu Gurgaddi Saumpee Hai, Guru Granth Nu Nehee". How stupid can you get! The headline gives the impression that Guru Granth Sahib Ji is NOT Guru! Despite the author's intended message, the title still remains offensive. 2. I think everyone would agree that from the very beginning the Shabad/ Gurbani has been declared Guru. Guru Nanak Dev Ji said "Shabad Guru, Surat Dhun Chela" and Guru Ramdas Ji said "Bani Guru, Guru Hai Bani." Despite the Shabad being the Guru, the ten bodies of Guru Nanak Dev Ji contained the Guru-JYOT and were Akaal Roop. In 1708 Guru Gobind Singh Ji "RE-EMPHASISED" the message of all the previous Gurus that Gurbani is the Guru. Further to that the "Aad Granth Sahib" was declared as "Guru Granth Sahib Ji" (even though the Shabad was Guru, it is a fact that the name of the Granth remained as Pothi Sahib and Aad Granth from Guru Arjan Dev Ji onwards). The Guru-Jyot in totality was passed on to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 3. The Guru Panth was given Gurgaddi in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh Ji took Amrit from the Khalsa. So one could argue, how could Guru Gobind Singh Ji give the Gurgaddi to the Khalsa in 1708 at Hazoor Sahib when the Khalsa were already the GURU KHALSA from Vaisakhi 1699 onwards? In 1708 Guru Gobind Singh ji "re-emphasised" and made a final declaration that Guru Granth Sahib Ji AND the Khalsa are the Guru. This was physically shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji doing Mathaa Tekh to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and then taking Hukamnama before Jyoti Jyot. Let's analyse the attack 1. Violence is the last resort. To attack an elderly man and his family is COWARDLY. If the Singhs felt strongly then they should have met him and talked to him. The author of the article could have easily said, "Okay, I made a mistake" and then seek apology from the Gursikhs. However, this option was not given. 2. Why did the Gursikhs not write a response article clearing up the facts? It is a shame that these people easily beat up this elderly man and his family and yet the crooks of the Panth and those who are doing Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Guru Khalsa Panth are not touched. Bhul Chuk Maaf.
