How about whenever you see a pretty girl, start thinking there goes me Joga singh again. U know the Joga singh story right?? As soon as you would realize it, you will be careful and start analyzing that is it really worth it. And make it a habit to read below lines whenever you see a pretty girl. Gur merai sang sda hai nale satgur piyara mere naal hai, mainu jithe kithe laye chhaDaye (above line may have mistakes, as I couldnt really find the exact line on sikhitothemax.com) also, When u see a pretty girl, think that its your test time. and you are not going to fail this time. Draw your willpower to take over the vikar from Gurbani by reciting the bani rather than letting the monkey mind run wild. It will be battle for few times more. Be patient, eventually, you will overcome the problem. God is with all of us. Its just that we havn't realized it yet.
  2. At the end of the day, don't forget that we are supposed to raise a voice against anything going wrong. Just think about Guru Teg Bahadur ji's martyrdom. We shouldn't be fighting for only our symbols, but for anybody else's as well, if they approach us. So I would say we need to raise a voice so that Kirpan is respected as much as by others as we respect it. Today it happened at concert, tomorrow it could happen at any other genuine place (not that I said going to concert was not genuine, I am not here to judge that). But I am raising a voice to support that the security practices have to be reviewed. And in future, Gurdas Mann or any other singer should think about the matter before they agree to have any concert at places where it could be a potential problem with the security officers about Kirpan issues. I see nothing wrong with going to concert if you are amritdhari. We havn't gotten over all our Vikars, have we?? Music is music, and its my choice to have it inspriational/religious/calming vs. the one feeding my vikars. If you go to concert to feed your vikars, then of course, I would be against it, but people do feed their vikars at Gurughars too. Can we control that?? So lets just stay focused at the Kirpan issue and not judge who should or not go to concert. Just my 2 cents or more.
  3. Such a great way of thinking Veerji. EXACTLY.
  4. Dukh daroo sukh rog bhaiya Sometimes dukh makes us to find the unanswered questions. The quest to find the basic root of dukh, suffering, pain in life somtimes makes us want to find the eternal bliss and thats when we go on searching. Its like any subject. More we read, understand and live it, the more bonding, the love we feel for it. Try any subject mathematics, sciences or whatever else. Its just we think religion doesn't need time, we dont' devote time to read, understand and live it. its not considered part of growing up, learning, surviving in this world. The time we realize that, thats when we come to think that actually thats the only subject we really need to understand and live it. Other things come on the way anyways. We go searching for food, when we are hungary, we go searching for water when we feel thirsty. We recoginize the hungars of stomach, but we ignore the hunger of soul, thats where we go wrong and move around feeling empty inside even though we may have lot of property, no worries about food, nice family etc. We still feel something missing in us, but often we dont' understand what it is.
  5. Very true Veerji, but very hard to practice. We have become habitual of worrying about tomorrow and regretting about yesterday so much that we dont' enjoy our today as much as we should. I wish we could all put it to practice as easily as we like to think and say it.
  6. Nahi ji, Guru Nanak Dev ji ne sanu grihsat marg sikhaiya hai. so grihsat vich reh ke hee rub naal live joRni hai. I usually give example of lotus flower whose base is dirty water. Thats what we have to be. It is possible if we stay in hukam of God. If we take situations/problems in life as tests thrown in front of us to make us better person. Everything happens for a reason, good things and bad things. Mud is 5 vikars that we get grasped by everyday. khalsa soye jo kare nit jang. saadi roj jang hundi hai 5 or more vikars naal. Ihee mud hai. We have to settle down mud with nam simran, understanding gurbani, sakhis from gurus times, kathas, sangat of good people and sangat of listening to gurmat veechar, good deeds etc.
  7. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in it. Harbhajan yogi once said (I know some people may not like him for one reason or the other, But I have heard lot of people and try to retain the goodies which make sense) that tu aap bahar nikal ja, te guru nu fsa de, if u know what I mean. At times, I look at the problem in life, and I do ardas, babaji, I want to focus on chanting your name, but some forces/people/situatioons/happenings have been pulling me away from name chanting. Could you please take care of my affairs? That would give me more time on name chanting/reciting banis and concentrating on Gurbani and so and so. Baba ji sabhna gala smrath hun te nobody is beyond HIS command. So baba ji ape hee affairs nu set kar dinde hun, all you need is surrender and faith. Hope I am making sense. And btw, these kind of situations are presented in front of you by babaji to give you some more guN that you need to be even better person e.g. patience, krodh na auNa, fareeda bure da bhala kara, gussa man na hundha. sorry, enter button on keyboard in not working, so had to write all in one paragraph.

  10. I didn't know nitnem was restricted to Japuji sahib only. I guess nitnem has different meaning to everyone according to what they do. I always thought nitnem means panj banis in the morning atleast. If someone can do sukhmani sahib, asa dee vaar, shabad hazare (both) and twe prasad (deenen ki pritpal kare nit vale) as well, then thats like "sone te suhaga". Anyways, I usually don't agree with the notion either that if you talk about it then u are kinda boasting about it and would loose it. But I think, if you are already always feeling guilty about actually not doing enough, I dont' think you would have ego about it. In my case, I do try to go beyond panj banis (japuji sahib, jaap sahib, Twe prasad swaiye (srawag sudh), chaupai sahib, Anand sahib (all 40 santaze)) but sometimes not successful like today I was not. And I always feel bad about not being able to do sukhmani sahib even once a week or asa dee vaar. And just heard in katha today, nitnem vee babe dee kirpa naal hee rahinda hai, nahi tan es papi monkey mind dee kee majal ke nitnem rahiN de deve. It tries to find all kind of excuses. And I think Amrit dee daat given by Babaji, is the biggest leash on the mind to keep it focused and make it do it. mind de vas vich pai jaiye tan ik din na koi vee path karn deve. Anyways, babe ton hamesha mangde raho ke babaji nitnem increase karvauNa ji. baki babe te chhud diyo, apan tan bus magna hai, mangte jo hoye babe de dar te..

  12. you are great at fast forwarding them. I couldn't accomplish listening to them yet, even though I have been for last few days. wooooooooooo hooooooooooo. you are fast listener, even though speaker has same speed doesnt matter who listens to him. Sade guru sach hee kahende ne bani virlo veecharsee.
  13. Tusin ai karo jee, no need to find GOD. BTW, god is not hiding in your closet/attic/basement/jungle that you have to go find him at different places. but this is recommendation for you, which we are all doing anyways. so just keep doing that. The nights are wasted sleeping, and the days are wasted eating. Human life is such a precious jewel, but it is being lost in exchange for a mere shell. You do not know the Name of the Lord. You fool - you shall regret and repent in the end! ||1||Pause|| in case interested to read more, its on ang 156 of SGGSji, copy pasted from srigranth.org
  14. Curious, then why havn't you learned from those debates that Gurus had with sadhus, saints, fakirs or sajjan thugs, or other lost ones. Don't we just need to read little bit bani and bani dee veechar. Here is good link for you if you have some time on hand to listen. http://www.gurugyan.gurmatchanan.com/ A lot to learn from. Listen slowly slowly all the lectures and come back and see if you are clarified about lot of things in life. Gur Fateh.
  15. The way I have heard that whatever you are about to do, put it in the weighing machine (takaRi) of Guru. See whatever you are about to do, if Guru will like it or not. Imagine Guru is standing right there, see if Guru would approve you doing it. If yes, Its Gurmat, if not, its manmat. But we humans are very clever too, We do twist things as well. So somethings have very fine lines. Cann't help you there, as I myself am human and do make mistakes, tons of them.
  16. One person starts a store or advertising company or a restaurant or you name anything. Lets take restaurant. He started it on very small scale, just making few dishes him and his wife knew. slowly slowly their dishes were liked by people. The dishes they made were delicious. He became popular. Had to spread the business. and finally had to make it more structured. Wrote menus, recipes, set the guideline for chefs, servers, waitors. He set the standards for each process. and slowly slowly as a whole set up it became more and more successful. People demanded more and at different places. He had to franchise it to his brothers. And finally he died and passed on the recipes, guidelines, standards and eveyrthing involved to his sons, brothers. Now, Restaurant is still successful. But with changing times, changing needs the rules had to be changed but recipes have to stay same. but dishes had to be mild or hotter according to customers's needs. Its not the best example, I dont think I am able to justify the way I desired, but now think it in terms of starting from Guru Nanak dev ji to Guru Gobind Sahib ji. How things progressed according to at that times needs. Hope I am making sense, not fully to my satisfaction though.
  17. Don't worry if you have thirst for the GOD, You will find it. Some Giyanis give example of finding butter in milk. you don't see it but its there. there is process to get it eventually. So similarly there is a process to realize the existence of GOD and thats what you find in our gurus words, in SGGSji.
  18. God is inside you. Inside me and inside everybody. Gurus told us a way how to connect to that inside of us, GOD. Are you following me?? The connection. salvation will come automatically if you can stay connected with inside you GOD 24/7. Many of us fail at that. Thats why we have questions and we wander around asking questions. IF we can develop/feel that 24/7 connection, all our doubts, issues, problems, questions will go away. We all will live in peace forever. I know I am dreaming, but thats the dream we should all aim for,I think.
  19. Veerji I disagree. The meaning of every human's life is clear. and here it is again This human body has been given to you. This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe. Nothing else will work. Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the Naam. ||1||
  20. Find it funny or not, this is how I see life/GOd/ this whole play of life. Every film (hindi punjabi or whatever), there is someone who thinks of the idea, then someone who writes the story, someone who helps the production, someone who directs the film making, some dancers and some actors etc. etc. So in film of life, we are actors, dancers who you see on the screen. But the people behind the screen (writer, director, producer), they are equivalent to One GOD. Don't take me wrong in translating it that they are GOD. But I mean to say that in this play or film of life, its GOD who is behind the screen. Not visible, but is there. Another example puppet show. The one holding the strings to move the puppets (us) is the GOD. Hope I am making sense. The only difference is that we are given this human life as a chance to merge with GOD. ANother way of seeing it is that drop of water is eventually part of sea. But it got seprated in the form of rain, cloud, in faucet, in pond, in river or stream. But eventually its supposed to get merged with Sea. So we are drops and GOD is sea. Another way of looking at it is we are kids and GOD is our mother, our father who created us. We are creation and god is the creator.

    Soo Confused!

Veerji, first of all, I am impressed with your love for your GURU, your first and most beloved lord. I am glad to hear that people like you exist in this world, in the panth. But having so much sharda for SGGSji, why confusion then? Doesn't SGGSji got answer to all of our confusions, dilemmas, doubts? We are souls given chance as a human body to get united with the GOD. And you have figured out that as purpose early in your life. Then why get bothered by what people say. Most of the people in these days are without any direction. They just don't recognize the purpose of human life and hence believe in the worldly achievements only. GOD has a game plan for everybody and for you too. So don't you worry. esp. about finding a girl to marry. The day God wants you to marry, and HE brings that girl infront of you, you won't be able to see her as a sister anymore. Something else will attract you towards her. Have a more faith in Guru ji than you have currently about your marriage issue. GUrus told us to see other girls as sisters, daughters and mothers. Yet they married to one as well. That special one must be somehow different to them as well. Don't you think? Sometimes, I think that if we just don't push things to happen before they are meant to happen, then we won't have to struggle and suffer so much. Anyways, don't worry about people for saying anything about sewa. DO as much as you wanna. Even find other ways of helping community above and beyond langar sewa. Keep bhagat pooran singh ji as your role model. Have bhai kanniya jee as your role model. Not the people who come to eat langar at Gurughar only. SO keep going. Journey hasn't ended yet. And stay in high spirits. Feel the connection with the god not the people even though they are creation of that one GOD as well. So just see them another souls, who may have not yet figured out the purpose of their life yet.
  23. MR./MS proactive, when did I say Kabeer was or not muslim. I said SGGSji includes bani of some muslims. I picked shabad which includes allah in it, written by Kabeer, but I didn't relate the shabad and Kabeer being muslim. Baba Fareed was muslim. Read carefully, before you shoot your guns. And can you please explain me how allah is different for different faiths? I can use some education. And you pick on saying that my posts have misleading statements. I am glad you have been paying attention to my posts. Please do one more favor, point those out to me, each time. What I say, if you dont agree with, doesn't mean its misleading statement. It could be for you, but not for me or others. I say something because I believe that way. you may have different belief than mine. I am not imposing my beliefs on others, but if you feel like, I need to be corrected, point it out, I will see if I agree with what you say.
  24. Just clicked on the link and heard her for the first time. I would say "Music have no boundaries" be it religious, race, language or any other. So lets not use the disgrace word here. Remember, no dharam is bad, its the people who pollute it. If you read the internal message of any religion, they all have something to do with GOD. So why hate the religion. Hate the people who use it wrongfully. So singing Alla hoo song is not wrong at all, I would say. Remember, SGGSji includes the bani of some bhagats who were muslim too. First, Allah created the Light; then, by His Creative Power, He made all mortal beings. From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad? O people, O Siblings of Destiny, do not wander deluded by doubt. The Creation is in the Creator, and the Creator is in the Creation, totally pervading and permeating all places. The clay is the same, but the Fashioner has fashioned it in various ways. There is nothing wrong with the pot of clay - there is nothing wrong with the Potter. The One True Lord abides in all; by His making, everything is made. Whoever realizes the Hukam of His Command, knows the One Lord. He alone is said to be the Lord's slave. The Lord Allah is Unseen; He cannot be seen. The Guru has blessed me with this sweet molasses. Says Kabeer, my anxiety and fear have been taken away; I see the Immaculate Lord pervading everywhere. ||4||3|| Bani bhagat kabeer ji, ang 1349 If islam or saying alla hoo was that bad, Guruji wouldn't have chosen the word allah to be included in SGGSji and told us giving those words as much respect as we give to rest of the bani in SGGSji.
  25. Veerji, Rub te bharosa rakhana sikho. there are times in life when u just have to say, ok, Babaji, I tried enough again and again and failed. So I don't think I can control my actions or world's actions. Babaji, I leave control to yourself only from now on. I am just going to do my nitnem, nam simran, good deeds, sewa and kirat karni. You take care of the rest. SO really from heart, then leave it to him. He is really great, you will see soon that you would be released from this fight between you and your mind. He himself will take care of your affairs. you just have to give up the fight. Rub kade kade udon bahuRda, jado asin laR laR ke thuk jande han. and drop our arms. Prescribing it because tried myself. Not your kind of problems, but some others.
